The ending to the 2024 vampire horror comedy Abigail provides a bloody resolution for all the main characters besides Melissa Barrera's Joey, whose fate and future is left ambiguous despite her surviving the movie's events. While the box office returns for Abigail were disappointing, the movie has been a hit with both critics and audiences thanks to its solid character development and fun, campy horror elements. Melissa Barrera's character Joey is among the most well-developed, and as the only primary character to survive the splatterfest, her character is the only one with a potential future.
Barrera herself has addressed the chances of Abigail 2 being made, and her character Joey would most likely return, given that her character survived Abigail's blood-sucking spree. Her role in any sequel would be uncertain given how her character ended up. She was bitten by Dan Stevens' Frank, who intended to turn her into his puppet,...

In a career spanning over 50 years, Steven Spielberg has created some of the most beautiful blockbusters of all time. From the early days of his career, Spielberg gained a reputation as a master of big-screen spectacle with an eye for interesting shots. His direction doesn't always draw attention to itself, but he has a wide array of filmmaking tools at his disposal which he uses to serve the story.
Steven Spielberg's best movies combine relatable stories with remarkable visuals. He has worked with several award-winning cinematographers in his time, including Janusz Kaminski, Dean Cundey and Douglas Slocombe. They have all brought their own unique skills to Spielberg's movies, helping him to achieve his vision. Many of his best shots are now etched in film history, and even his more recent movies are beautiful to watch, although time will tell how they come to be appreciated.

One of Walt Disney World’s oldest attractions is about to get a brand new facelift after five decades. The Country Bear Jamboree has been operating at the Main Kingdom since opening day on October 1st, 1971. The musical animatronic show was based on the Disneyland attraction of the same name (which closed in 2001). However, with the show becoming less popular over time, Disney is seeking to rejuvenate interest with a new theme.
The Country Bear Musical Jamboree will see the colorful cast of characters go from singing their own playlist to covers of various Disney film songs. Each song is sung by a specific set of characters, and each is given a country twist.
Full Song List:
– “Country Bear Musical Jamboree” (Five Bear Rugs)
– “Try Everything” from Zootopia
– “Kiss the Girl” from The Little Mermaid (Romeo McGrowl)
– “A Whole New World” from Aladdin (Wendell & Teddi Barra)
– “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” from Mary Poppins...

Alex Garland's Civil War sure does sound fantastic. Not since the magisterially composed heist sequence in Michael Mann's Heat (1995) -- that oft-imitated, never duplicated piece of heavy-duty filmmaking -- have gunshots sounded so meaty. The percussive punctuation will become a long familiar companion by the time the credits roll, a character as much as Kirsten Dunst's Lee, Cailee Spaeny's Jessie, Wagner Moura's Joel, or Stephen McKinley Henderson's Sammy, Civil War's central quartet. The abrasiveness is the point, an ear-blasting thump employed at every available opportunity to jostle viewers -- who've become inured to movie violence -- back into the immediacy of violence. However, the bullets are just one of many alarming components in this tense road trip through a deeply divided United States.
Civil War begins with the President of the United States (Nick Offerman) rehearsing a speech. Through his words of elusive incitement and...

Between Ready or Not, Scream, and Scream VI, directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett have already established a reputation for crafting highly entertaining horror with a flair for gore and bloodletting. Their latest, Abigail, will take the gory horror and violence to a whole new level of delightfully deranged extremes.
That gore was on prominent display last summer, when Bloody Disgusting was invited to the set of Abigail, filmed in the birthplace of vampire horror originator Bram Stoker: Ireland.
Abigail, written by Stephen Shields (The Hole in the Ground, Zombie Bashers) and Guy Busick (Scream franchise, Ready or Not), transforms a heist movie into a full-blown bloodbath. A group of would-be criminals kidnap the 12-year-old ballerina daughter of a powerful underworld figure, only to find themselves locked inside with an actual monster.

In a significant declaration of large intentions and strategy at Studiocanal, owned by Vivendi’s Canal Plus Group, Françoise Guyonnet has been appointed Studiocanal CEO Copyrights Group and EVP Kids’ Brands as the European production-distribution giant looks to drive powerfully into children’s IP.
Studiocanal described the appointment in a written statement on Thursday as “a confident move for the studio which wishes to accelerate growth in children’s IP.” Copyrights Group is an international intellectual property management agency, it added.
The new high-ranking role for Guyonnet at Studiocanal has been announced just two days after it unveiled plans at Brand Licensing Europe (Ble) to produce with Superprod Group and Mercis a CGI series of world famous character “Miffy,” created in 1955 by Dutch author-illustrator Dick Bruna. Guyonnet said the move underlined “our ambition in the quality franchise space.”

Gisèle Galante recalls a recent evening in which she and her husband first watched Dodge City, the 1939 Michael Curtiz-directed western starring Errol Flynn and Olivia de Havilland. As de Havilland’s daughter, born 17 years after that film’s premiere, Galante was struck equally by her mother’s beauty and her performance: “I had never seen it before, but she was so, so pretty,” she tells The Hollywood Reporter. “And even though it wasn’t what you would call a meaty role, she was excellent. There’s still so much for me to discover, more of my mother’s films that I have not seen.”
For many classic-film fans, de Havilland’s death in July 2020 at the age of 104 signified the end of an era, the passing of perhaps the last great star of Hollywood’s golden years. Galante notes that she’s had those fans in mind while planning...

Carol Locatell, who had a memorable turn as the foulmouthed mother Ethel Hubbard in Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning and worked alongside Burt Reynolds in three films, has died. She was 82.
Locatell died April 11 at her home in Sherman Oaks after a long battle with cancer, her husband, songwriter and record producer Gregory Prestopino, told The Hollywood Reporter. They were together for 50 years.
Locatell moved from Los Angeles to New York in the mid-1980s to shake up her career, and from her first audition there she landed a part on Broadway in Neil Simon’s Broadway Bound, which premiered in 1986. She then appeared in The Shadow Box in 1994 and in The Rose Tattoo a year later.

Known to horror fans for her role in Friday the 13th: A New Beginning, Bloody Disgusting has learned the sad news this week that Carol Locatell has passed away at the age of 82.
Alongside Ron Sloan’s character Junior, Carol Locatell played Ethel (aka Ma) in the Friday the 13th franchise’s fifth installment back in 1985, delivering a scene-stealing performance that helped make her a fan favorite star on the horror convention circuit in recent years.
Sean Clark writes on Instagram, “Just got a call from Ron Sloan letting me know that our friend Carol Locatell who most of the fans know as Ethel aka Ma in Friday the 13th Part 5 A New Beginning has lost her battle with cancer. My heart goes out to her husband Greg and their entire family.
Clark’s tribute continues, “I had the great fortune of working with her for 15+ years and she was an amazing person.

For someone who is the most financially successful filmmaker of all time and reshaped Hollywood, Steven Spielberg is weirdly ignored by the Academy Awards. The man has a cavalcade of masterpieces under his belt, yet he has not won a Best Director trophy since 1999 with "Saving Private Ryan" or Best Picture since 1994 with "Schindler's List," which also happens to be the only film of his to have won that award. More time has elapsed between the release of his first theatrical feature film, "The Sugarland Express," and "Schindler's List" than between "Saving Private Ryan" and today, and in those 24 years, Spielberg has yet to display another Oscar on his mantle.
This year could have been the year to rectify that with "The Fabelmans." When his heavily autobiographical film won the Audience Award at this past year's Toronto International Film Festival, we all thought it was finally going to be his time again.

Previously, from Rob T. Jenkins: Watch: 'Better Call Saul' 30-Second Teaser Reveals Bob Odenkirk's Rag So, it was Saturday, and for January it wasn't a bad one here in Virginia. Cold, but sun was shining, and with the Redskins out of the playoffs I was just enjoying a lazy day on the couch with the games. And not just any couch, but My couch, in My house. With My family -- Sammy and Jessie and even Karen. Things aren't 100 percent with Karen yet, but I've been staying over on the weekends, just to try things out, ever since Christmas. But then Sammy, who can't just watch one thing at once (of course not) shows me his iPad, where he's got the YouTube up. Sounds like there's some fancy press thing happening out in Pasadena, where all the TV people get together and talk about TV? Bet the snacks are pretty good there.

It's a hard-knock life out there for scripted TV shows these days. With increasing pressure from unscripted shows, video games, the Internet and the economy, getting and especially keeping a show on the air is not only a creative but a financial challenge.
But every now and then, the stars align, and you get just what you want.
For Callie Thorne of USA's sports-psychologist dramedy "Necessary Roughness," which began its third season in June, that's a huge, colorful new office set, boasting funky modern furnishings and shiny white floors that reflect light back into the face.
It's home to V3 (short for Caesar's famous declaration "Veni, vidi, vici" -- "I came, I saw, I conquered"), the New York City sports agency/global marketing firm that has just hired her character, Dr. Dani Santino.
"I call it the magic castle," she tells Zap2it in the show's Atlanta production offices during a break in filming.

Comedy Central has unveiled its entire development slate and, as to be expected, there are plenty of funny concepts in the bunch. The standouts include Highdeas, which explores such stoner-friendly hypotheticals as “white chocolate milk” and “hamster-sized rhinos”, Jc, the animated New York City adventures of one Jesus Christ, and The Fuzz, a police procedural in a corrupt city where humans and puppets co-exist.
Also in development are potential series from the likes of Jon Benjamin (Archer), Broken Lizard (Super Troopers), and Bob Odenkirk (Mr. Show), plus a Wating… adaptation from Rob McKittrick, the writer/director of the feature film that starred Ryan Reynolds. Note that this in addition to already announced projects from Will Ferrell, Nick Swardson, and The Onion. For a complete rundown, hit the jump.
