Though this special may seem easily found online, it is actually quite the opposite. The original television airing had numerous scenes and songs that have been removed from US video release due to the rights of characters and franchises being dispersed amongs different companies. The Muppets no longer share affiliation with Sesame Street and The Fraggles lay dormant, therefore this special cannot air on television without obtaining licenses and the home video releases have to be heavily altered to avoid any legal disputes. In other countries the original uncut version can be found but still incredibly rare and has sold for upwards of a hundred dollars through online auctions.
After The Muppets: A Celebration of 30 Years (1986), this is the second Muppet production to feature The Muppets associated with all four of the major Muppet franchises: The Muppet Show (1976), Sesame Street (1969), Fraggle Songs (1983), and Muppet Babies (1984) (as puppets here).
At the end of "Deck the Halls", Big Bird says "I love carols". Big Bird was voiced by Caroll Spinney.
The song "Together at Christmas (Old Friends, New Friends)" is reused from the previous Muppet Christmas special The Christmas Toy (1986).
The line Oscar refuses to sing in "Deck the Halls" is "Follow me in merry measure", which makes sense because he's a grouch.
