The Eternals' future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe just got a little murky. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has revealed that there are currently no plans for a sequel to the 2021 superhero movie.

In an interview with Inverse, Feige revealed that there "are no immediate plans for Eternals 2. There are, and I think youve seen maybe in a trailer weve released recently, an acknowledgment of some of those events. Certain giant things came out of the ocean." The Marvel Studios president is referencing the recent Captain America: Brave New World trailer, which briefly featured shots of a battle over Tiamut Island, the landmass that formed when the Eternals defeated a giant Celestial emerging from the center of the Earth. It is believed that Tiamut Island will be a major plot point in both Brave New World and Thunderbolts*.

We now have our first look at Game of Thrones star Kit Harington in Eternals. On Monday, Marvel Studios released a new poster and Eternals teaser trailer for the superhero movie ahead of its premiere in theaters in November. Featuring a large ensemble cast, Eternals will mark Harington's debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Dane Whitman, the man who becomes Black Knight. The Black List founder Franklin Leonard kicked off the virtual Sundance panel “Array 10: A Decade of Disruption” by chatting with Array founder and Emmy-winning Ava DuVernay, President Tilane Jones and VP of Public Programming Mercedes Cooper about the origin of the narrative change collective which puts shine on creators and artists of color as well as women filmmakers.

Leonard and DuVernay reminisced about special dinners of Sundance past where, at the first one DuVernay hosted included “more Black folks in the room than at Sundance” as a whole. The conversation shifted to a dinner party icebreaker which Leonard loves to ask his guests: “What is your guilty pleasure movie?”

Cooper claimed the classic Mahogany as her guilty pleasure while Jones said Breakfast at Tiffany’s was hers — DuVernay quickly intervened.

“These are not guilty pleasures ladies!” said DuVernay. “A guilty pleasure is a film you slightly feel hesitant to share — which I will share.

On Game of Thrones, Kit Harington played the lonely, taciturn and somber Jon Snow, whose status as a bastard child within the Stark household informed his aloof personality. In next year’s McU film Eternals, he’s set to play the Black Knight, and a broody name like that might make you assume he’ll be a similarly gloomy hero. Selena Gomez is getting an upgraded suite for the next installment of the Sony Pictures Animation franchise “Hotel Transylvania.”

Gomez will serve as an executive producer in addition to voicing the co-lead on the project, Dracula’s thoroughly modern daughter Mavis.

The “Hotel” franchise has generated over $1.3 billion at the worldwide box office, consisting of three films and a spinoff series. Adam Sandler has voiced Dracula, the proprietor of a spooky hotel that serves as a haven for mythological monsters who cannot live openly among humans.

Jennifer Kluska and Derek Drymon will direct the new film, which is due to hit screen on Aug. 6, 2021. Series creator Genndy Tartakovsky returns as screenwriter and executive producer, along with Michelle Murdocca. Alice Dewey Goldstone also serves as producer.

We haven’t heard any concrete news surrounding the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Eternals for months, besides the studio recently dropping the ‘The’ from the title. Minor cosmetic changes aside, anticipation is starting to rise for the intergalactic epic, which has the potential to bring something completely unique to a franchise that’s been around for well over a decade, which is no easy feat.

There’s only a little over five months to go until Eternals hits theaters, meaning that we surely can’t be too far away from a debut trailer, and Marvel might even be considering attaching it to November’s Black Widow in an effort to draw some extra paying customers into the slowly-recovering theatrical industry.

As the Marvel Cinematic Universe slowly expands on the rest of its comic book-inspired world, we’re going to meet more super groups than just the Avengers. Among them will be the Eternals, who are getting their own self-titled movie in 2021. We’ve already been introduced to one Eternal in the McU, as grand villain Thanos owes some of his epic abilities to his mutant-Eternal heritage, but he might not be the only Eternal we’ve run into so far.

In the ‘70s comic series of the same name, Marvel introduced three new races, the Celestials, Eternals, and Deviants, each with their own backstory. The Celestials were god-like beings who experimented with human DNA to created the hybrid races, the Eternals and Deviants. The two were polar opposites, with the Eternals characterized as superpowered immortal beings who looked like humans, while the Deviants suffered from unstable genetic mutations, which rendered them looking like monstrous,...

Game of Thrones may have gone out with a whimper after fans were left massively disappointed by the final season, but it will long remain a cultural landmark and one of the most popular and iconic shows in the history of both the fantasy genre and television at large.

Now that the core cast are no longer committed to multi-season contracts, they’re freer than they’ve been in a long time to pursue other ventures, and an awful lot of them seem to have been making the jump into comic book blockbusters. Just a few months ago, Marvel fans were gearing up for both Black Widow in May and The Eternals in November. Of course, that’s not to be anymore and we’re only getting the single McU pic this year. With Bw taking the November release slot, the aforementioned superhero ensemble flick has moved to February. That may be a while away, but it sounds like Marvel is working on something to reward fans for their patience.

As pointed out by McU Cosmic’s Jeremy Conrad, Amit Chaudhari – who’s been accurate when it comes to imminent trailer info in the past – is claiming that sources have told him the studio has got something up their sleeves when it comes to The Eternals. Chaudhari can’t say whether this is a full teaser trailer or perhaps a smaller sneak peek, but apparently something is on its way.

After being pushed back to February 2021 as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase Four delays, we’ll have to wait even longer to find out some concrete details about The Eternals. After all, there isn’t much point in trying to predict what’s going to happen in an intergalactic adventure based around a group of immortal aliens that’s set to take place over thousands of years.

We do know that the title characters will be forced to do battle with their arch-nemeses the Deviants though, and with Kevin Feige admitting that the Eternals are more than aware of the existence and activities of the Avengers, they might even be linked to Thanos somehow, given that the Mad Titan’s comic book history places him as the son of two Eternals and a carrier of the Deviants gene.
