Out of Town

It's said that Jack Hargreaves was the inspiration for "The Fast Show" character Bob Fleming. Certainly the mocked up shed set and the country clothing are there. However, Mr Hargreaves seems not to have a persistent cough. Despite being the main man of Southern Television, his charming little films were shot on a low budget; no live sound for example. But the topics are fascinating. The details of the bygone country crafts make for compelling viewing so grab yourself a cup of cocoa and watch these films while Jack Hargreaves narrates them in voiceover by using a rather woolly sounding microphone. It's a relief when we cut back to the studio and you can tell that you're not losing your hearing after all.
