By its very nature, Power Rangersis a goofy and bizarre series. This especially applies to early seasons, like Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, where integration of Super Sentai footage was still rough, and the tone was more in line with Saved by the Bell than anything else. While the show evolved over time, there isn't a season without some head-scratching details.
The Disney Era of Power Rangers was ambitious and well-produced, but it was also as weird as any other era of the franchise. Within the show itself, there are still odd choices made regularly, and the series' infamously low budget often winds up haunting it. Other aspects of the Disney seasons won't be noticed just by watching them, and require outside knowledge to understand what makes them so strange.

For 30 years, the Power Rangers franchise has delivered fun, action-packed series to audiences both young and old. With the long-running continuity of the series, it’s easy to understand why the franchise has managed to maintain an older audience, especially given how much the series focuses on past rangers and nostalgia.
However, the Power Rangers franchise is well-known for being geared towards a younger audience. While some kids' shows, like Avatar: The Last Airbender, managed to create a story suitable for all age groups, most Power Rangers seasons tend to feature a lot of silly moments and oversimplified writing. However, some seasons have stood out as being slightly more mature, allowing both the young audience and adult fans to connect with the series.

There are certain Power Rangersseasons that, since they first aired, have been hailed as the pinnacle of the franchise. Seasons like Power Rangers in Space, Power Rangers Spd, and Power Rangers Rpm are near-universally loved, even with the fandom being able to acknowledge their respective flaws. But, when it comes to Power Rangers Time Force, I think most fans fail to realize just how many issues it has.
Power Rangers Time Force is commonly held up as a masterpiece, but it's far from the best season in the franchise. I love the season, and it features some of the most engaging characters and storylines in the series, along with one of the most talented casts of actors.

Power Rangers missed out on an incredible crossover opportunity during the Disney era, and it still bothers me over 20 years later. While Power Rangers tried to keep roughly the same cast during what became known as the Zordon era, the franchise switched to standalone seasons in 1999 with Power Rangers Lost Galaxy. As a result, Power Rangers now had the opportunity to do crossover episodes in which the current heroes would team up with the previous team. Most Power Rangers crossovers were based on Super Sentai team-up specials and movies, although they were often recontextualized.

The 1990s were a good time to be a fan of Japanese pop culture. After the '80s made gamers out of millions of kids thanks to Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog, it was the '90s when anime started to become mainstream in the U.S. (even if kids didn't know it at the time) thanks to "Pokémon" becoming a worldwide cultural phenomenon. (That and "Sailor Moon" and "Dragon Ball Z" turning kids and teens into lifelong fans of the medium.)
But it wasn't just animation. In live-action, "Power Rangers" brought tokusatsu fun to the West and started a hugely influential superhero franchise that, yes, is still very good. Created by Haim Saban and Shuki Levy in collaboration with Shotaro Ishinomori, the long-running property is mostly made out of reused footage from Ishinomori's iconic tokusatsu series "Super Sentai." An extremely loose adaptation of the 16th Super Sentai season, Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers premiered on August 28th, 1993. In the 31 years since then, Power Rangers has become a gargantuan piece of pop culture unto itself, with over 30 television seasons, three feature films, hundreds of comic books, and endless merchandise. But while, through all of this, hundreds of characters and dozens of new teams with their own identities have been created, most audiences are only familiar with Mmpr.

Lord Drakkon is arguably the most popular of the Power Rangers characters who never appeared in the TV show, and the closest thing to a live-action version of the multiversal conqueror that we got is more than enough proof that the series needs a modern reboot. Power Rangers is currently on hiatus as there has been no new season or announcement of a new show in 2024. Earlier this year, TV Line reported that the Power Rangers reboot at Netflix was no longer moving forward. Its now unclear where the franchise is heading next.

The Power Rangers franchise has run for thirty years, with Power Rangers Cosmic Fury being the final series of this iteration of the story. With thirty years to its name, the franchise has seen many Ranger teams, hundreds of characters, and plenty of zords. Power Rangers has always been aware of its legacy, making several callbacks and references to past seasons, including the traditional team-up episodes.
Beginning with the tenth entry, Power Rangers Wild Force, the Power Rangers franchise honored its legacy every five years with special anniversary episodes. Of these five anniversary specials, there were certainly highs and lows, with fans responding more positively to some over others.

Based on the Japanese tokusatsu series Super Sentai, the Power Rangers franchise has run for thirty years, premiering in 1993, with its final season dropping on Netflix in 2023. Despite its long run, the series came close to cancelation several times, but was always saved by another production company buying out the rights. Power Rangers Wild Force was meant to be the 10th and final series, before the Walt Disney company bought out the franchise and moved production to New Zealand.
The Walt Disney Company produced seven Power Rangers seasons during its ownership before the rights were bought by Saban Brands in 2010. While Disney grew to care very little about Power Rangers after the first few years, the seasons they produced are considered some of the best entries in the franchise, despite their low budget and lack of care from the studio heads. Power Rangers scrapped plans for season 11, which would then become Power Rangers Ninja Storm, would have given the show its biggest team of heroes ever. However, once the IP went to Disney, all plans for the next season were put on hold, and the show was reinvented. "Forever Red" is still considered the best episode of Power Rangers, uniting 10 Red Rangers from different seasons in a nostalgic crossover. The episode treated each Red Ranger with care and respect, giving them all a moment to shine and showcasing their original characters. It would be difficult to replicate a "Forever Red" sequel due to logistics and the number of Red Rangers now, but a new crossover could celebrate more recent Power Rangers seasons.
The best Power Rangers episode came out a little over 21 years ago, and it can arguably never be topped. There are 973 Power Rangers episodes as of Cosmic Fury, which was the show’s 30th season. Watching Power Rangers in chronological order also includes movies and a Netflix special, although not all of them are canon. Most teams were replaced after one season, but there are also Rangers that remained on the show for two or more years.

In Power Rangers' extensive back catalog, a certain Power Rangers team member comes out on top for appearing in the most episodes. The early '90s saw the start of the iconic franchise, bringing the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers to screens, and from then on the influence of the Power Rangers has stretched across decades and generations with various titles depicting the team of heroes. More than 20 series later, Power Rangers maintains a cult following with a prized franchise formula that follows a group of youths able to morph into the titular Power Rangers, harness special super abilities, and operate tremendous assault machines to ward off episodic antagonists.
The classic conventions of the franchise have kept it in popular demand for over three decades, while updates in the Power Rangers, like revamps of the Ranger's powers and weapons, keep the pop culture entity fresh. Yet, the series is also deeply rooted in nostalgia,...

While the Power Rangers are known for their flashy and effective martial arts skills, some Power Rangers actors were trained martial artists long before earning their roles. These actors not only played a Power Ranger at some point in time, but also became proficient in some form of martial arts before stepping into the franchise. In this way, they are martial artists both on-screen and beyond it as well.
The Power Rangers franchise first began in 1993 with the premiere of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. The series revolves around a group of powerful teenagers who are taken in and mentored by the wizard Zordon. Through training and the use of assault machines called Zords, the teens are able to morph into the Power Rangers. Their main enemy was Rita Repulsa. Since then, the Power Rangers have appeared in various additional television series and feature films that are still being created today.

A canceled Power Rangers season would have directly continued “Forever Red,” the iconic Power Rangers’ Red Ranger crossover episode. While every Power Rangers season usually has one or two crossovers, Power Rangers Wild Force had a very special team-up episode. Wild Force’s “Forever Red” celebrated Power Rangers’ 10th season by putting every Red Ranger up until that point, except for Rocky, in the same episode to fight a threat on the moon.
There have been several Power Rangers crossover episodes, yet “Forever Red” is arguably the best of them to this day. A Power Rangers crossover of that scale had never happened before “Forever Red,” and it could not have been a better celebration of the franchise’s anniversary. In addition, “Forever Red”’s Red Ranger crossover almost led to the canceled Power Rangers Hexagon, the Power Rangers season that never happened.

30 years ago this August, a television programming block known as Fox Kids played home to a debuting superhero series. It was an adapted story presented to North American audiences through meta-series storytelling and emphasized with a Tokusatsu squadron ensemble. The brainchild of Haim Saban and Shuki Levy, the adapted story would become a pop culture phenomenon, spawning a line of action figures, clothing, Halloween costumes, and other toys.

As time went by, the lore's nostalgia would be celebrated through moments ranging from team-ups and legacy series to motion picture releases and live stage shows. For the viewer, it can be seen as a legacy celebrated through future generations. Yet as cool of an idea as it sounds to have as many characters from within the lore included as possible, construction is key. Power Rangers Hexagon, the Power Rangers season that never was, would have been a civil war between Jason and Tommy. Jason Lee Scott and Tommy Oliver are among the most popular Power Rangers of all time. Whereas Jason exited the Power Rangers during Mighty Morphin season 2, Tommy remained on the show uninterruptedly until Power Rangers Turbo season 1. In all of Power Rangers’ TV canon, Jason and Tommy only fought each other twice.
Jason and Tommy’s friendship shaped the Power Rangers universe. Tommy was introduced as the evil Green Ranger, a Power Ranger created by Rita Repulsa. However, after an intense battle against the Red Ranger, Tommy broke free of Rita’s magic. Tommy, who went from the Green Candle powers to the White Light, succeeded Jason as the leader of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. The duo would fight together side by side again in Power Rangers Zeo, during...

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always’ trailer Bandora Protocol references the saga’s history and unites past Power Rangers seasons. The Power Rangers are back for a final rematch against Rita Repulsa in Once & Always, a Netflix special celebrating Power Rangers’ 30th anniversary. While Once & Always is focused on the Mighty Morphin era only, there seem to be multiple references to the Power Rangers universe – from the Super Sentai shows to the most recent Power Rangers seasons.
The Power Rangers: Once & Always’ trailer Easter eggs reveal that the Power Rangers reunion will embrace the saga’s vast lore. Whereas some Power Rangers anniversary episodes were not that concerned with world building, Once & Always is promising to be a treat for both longtime and casual Power Rangers audiences. The Bandora Protocol is an example of how the Power Rangers reunion celebrates the franchise.

There have been a number of Power Rangers pitches that never quite made it to the screen. We've got the details on three of them.
The world of television is a crazy place. For every idea that eventually makes it to screen, a hundred more are left unused. Some of them are true gems, others are discarded for the realities of production, and some are just plain bad.
Power Rangers is no exception to this. For a show that’s been on for twenty years, a lot of ideas have been lost for one reason or the other: Greg Aronowitz's original idea for a Lord of the Rings version of Mystic Force, Devin becoming the Triassic Ranger, and even the fabled “Ancient Rangers". Whether all these would have happened, or if they were even true, still provoke fandom discussion to this day. Today we’ll be...
