Murilo Benício, star of smash-hit Globo telenovelas such as “The Clone,” “América” and “Brazil Avenue,” and Kevin Vechiatto who grew up in Brazil’s biggest kids franchise “Turma da Mônica,” are set to headline “Nico,” a smart comedy from Lb Entertainment, behind “Netflix” global No. 1 Non-English TV series “Sintonia.”
“Nico” is produced by Lb Entertainment and +Galeria and will be distributed in Brazil by +Galeria.
Many Brazilian comedies have hit gold dust as raucous vehicles for a star TV comedian, who does his shtick. “Nico’s” comedy, in contrast, is “a comedy with a story, which packs a large emotional impact and is broad and accessible,” Lb Entertainment producer Felipe Braga told Variety.
Benício and Vechiatto play father Márcio and son Nico who haven’t spoken for many years but are forced to embark on a hastily organized 30-hour road trip packed together in a cramped car.

The Star Wars prequel trilogy ended in 2005, yet several stories since then have added plot points, characters, moments, and context to make the three George Lucas films even better and infinitely more tragic. The reception of the Star Wars prequels has drastically changed in recent years. What used to be classed as three of the worst-ranked Star Wars movies are now held in higher regard, driven primarily by the divisive reaction to Disney's efforts in the franchise.
However, the films themselves have not changed. Instead, it is the reaction to the movies in the franchise under Disney's tenure - which will likely continue to be divisive with upcoming Star Wars movies - that has improved the prequel trilogy's reputation. That said, it is the ever-increasing number of Star Wars stories crafted in the prequel era, and the retcons they have provided, that have added heaps of context to the three Lucas-made films.

Techs tragic fate in Star Wars: The Bad Batch has long since been regarded as one of the franchises most heartbreaking yet heroic moments, and now I finally understand why it always had to happen. The Bad Batch season 2s ending sees Tech sacrifice himself to help the rest of his squad get away safely, and as someone who has always regarded Tech as a favorite amongst this bunch, it hit me hard - as it did with many others. After Dr. Hemlock went through the trouble of getting Techs goggles, I held out hope that maybe Tech had survived.
I carried that hope into The Bad Batch season 3, and I became a firm believer in the theory that the clone assassin Cx-2 was actually Tech, in a Winter Soldier twist. This, however, ended up not being the case, and I came to terms with Techs sacrifice as it stands.

George Lucas collaborated with Dave Filoni to craft Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The beloved animated series fills the gap between the second and third installments of the prequel trilogy. It also introduced Anakin Skywalker’s Jedi Padawan, Ahsoka Tano, who went on to become a fan-favorite and a major player in the overall lore of the galaxy far, far away.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars first introduced Ahsoka Tano (Credit: Lucasfilm).
During an interview, Filoni admitted that his plan for The Clone Wars was originally much different. Moreover, it was extremely serious and his take would have drastically changed the origin story of Ahsoka. However, Lucas interjected and made Filoni make some changes that averted a darker backstory for the character, and here is what Filoni had to say about the same.

Dee Bradley Baker excels in his role as Crosshair, exploring depths of redemption rare in Star Wars - which has made him an Emmy contender for his work in season 3. Baker's portrayal of Crosshair's remorse and growth adds complexity to the character's journey. The Bad Batch's story and Baker's performance highlight the depths of Star Wars redemption arcs.
Dee Bradley Baker, the voice of Clone Force 99 in Star Wars: The Bad Batch, has officially become Star Wars' next Emmy contender for his performance as Crosshair in season 3. Though Baker has long since brought the clone troopers to life in Star Wars, Clone Force 99 is certainly the highlight of both his range and his skill, and Crosshair's story in season 3 is a wonderful culmination of all his work. Crosshair's redemption arc is at the very heart of the animated show's final season, and now, Baker is getting his proper recognition for it.

Watching Tech's final sacrifice in The Bad Batch's season 2 is even more emotional now that we know there's no revival possible. The raw emotion displayed by Clone Force 99, especially Omega, in response to Tech's death is relatable and heartwrenching. The Bad Batch season 2 is harder to rewatch knowing the tragic fate that awaits, but Tech's sacrifice is ultimately meaningful.
Now that Star Wars: The Bad Batch has come to an end, I've been conducting a rewatch of the animated Star Wars series, and I've found that season 2 is much more difficult to watch after the series has made Tech's death final. The Bad Batch has easily become my favorite animated Star Wars project, and my second-favorite project of the entire franchise. Its excellent ending cemented this even further, despite the fact it confirmed that Tech would not be making a comeback after all.

Tech's sacrifice in the season 2 finale of The Bad Batch continues to impact viewers, sparking hope for his survival in season 3. The theory that Tech may have become the mysterious clone assassin Cx-2 adds a layer of intrigue and sadness to the character's fate. The Bad Batch may reveal Snoke's origins through Project Necromancer, connecting to Palpatine's future resurrection plans. Crosshair's health issues hint at a dark future, potentially due to midi-chlorian injections causing degeneration. Star Wars may soon reveal a key detail of Supreme Leader Snoke's origins through The Bad Batch season 3. To that end, a surprising connection may point to the future creation of Snoke himself,...

Hayden Christensen believes he had a good working relationship with George Lucas while making the Star Wars prequel trilogy together.
"George is a visionary and always knew exactly what he wanted, but when I had an idea he would always hear me out and consider it," Christensen told Empire in an interview celebrating the prequel era's 25th anniversary. Even if Lucas didn't use Christensen's suggestions, the actor respected his willingness to let Christensen experiment a bit, stating, "I remember on several occasions explaining what I wanted to try and George would say, "Well I know when I get to the editing room and I've got your version and my version, I'm always going to use my version, but sure, let's give it a try." And he was right, he always did use his version!"

Star Wars: The Clone Wars, a 2008 animated film, marked the first appearance of Ahsoka Tano, voiced by Ashley Eckstein, as Anakin Skywalker's new padawan. Although they were only together for a few years, their relationship became one of the most enduring in the show, if not the entire franchise. She would go on to become a main character of The Clone Wars series, which originally concluded with her departure from the Jedi Order over false accusations of terrorism. Her personality is remarkably similar to her master's: rambunctious and impatient, but ultimately a kind person.

The Star Wars prequel trilogy introduced the world to Darth Vader’s tragic history, but it wasn’t until Star Wars: The Clone Wars happened that audiences were truly able to fully appreciate Anakin Skywalker’s character. The series ran from 2008-2014, with a final season coming in 2020. Covering the time between Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones and the end of Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, the show provides a much clearer idea of what Anakin’s personality and experiences were like as a young adult.
Prior to the show, Anakin was criticized as emotional and immature, but the character is now received much more positively, largely due to the show’s portrayal. Recently, Hayden Christensen remarked he was “indebted” to Star Wars: The Clone Wars for fleshing out his character. The show ran for seven seasons, providing the perfect opportunity to...

Star Wars: The Clone Wars introduced us to some of the internal and external conflicts that have plagued the planet of Mandalore throughout its history, and now it looks like The Mandalorian season 3 will finally show us what Mandalore was like before it was totally destroyed by civil war.
In a season 3 sneak peek released on Sunday, we can see a ship flying toward a domed city that looks an awful lot like the Mandalorian city of Sundari from The Clone Wars. However, one major difference between Sundari and the city we see in the trailer is the lush greenery surrounding it.
By the time we visit Sundari in The Clone Wars, the surface of Mandalore has already been transformed from the vibrant green we see in the trailer to a desert-like wasteland after years of Mandalorian wars. After the death of the first Mandalorian Jedi, Tarre Vizsla, surviving members...

As soon as he made his Star Wars debut in The Phantom Menace way back in 1999, Darth Maul was instantly a phenomenon; he was one of the most badass characters ever to grace the franchise. Nobody thought he could pop up again after that movie. But, when, in its brilliance, The Clone Wars brought the character back, his legacy became far more special.

Through The Clone Wars and Rebels, Maul has made himself one of the franchise's best characters, with an arc that is incredible and moments that are as iconic as the Duel of the Fates. He has perhaps more of an argument than anyone to being Star Wars TV's best antagonist. However, some give him a run for his money.

Dave Filoni has an encyclopedic knowledge of Star Wars lore, and could probably even give George Lucas a run for his money when it comes to trivia surrounding the most minute details of a galaxy far, far away. The 46 year-old is certainly living the dream as a lifelong fan of the franchise who was hand-picked for a job at Lucasfilm, before rapidly working his way up the ranks to become the architect behind the entire animated arm of the mythology.
Given his extensive experience living, breathing and working in the realm of Star Wars, it wasn’t surprising when Filoni became integral to the creation and development of The Mandalorian as one of Jon Favreau’s closest collaborators. After all, the second season of the Disney Plus show has roped in several characters from The Clone Wars and Rebels, tying the live-action and animated canon together in stunning fashion.

The Mandalorian season 2 finally revealed who Sasha Banks is playing. The hit Disney+ show is back with a brand-new episode, which is full of Easter Eggs and a major step forward with the season 2 story arc. The first two episodes saw Din Djarin and the Child meeting up with new characters and going on some side quests before being given a little bit of intel about where to find other Mandalorians. Episode 3, Chapter 11, does some more of this, but with a better source of information. There are Spoilers for The Mandalorian season 2 below, so read ahead at your own risk.
Sasha Banks, aka Mercedes Varnado, is best-known for her work as a professional wrestler in the WWE. However, it looks like the Star Wars universe is going to change that. Fans have wondered for months who Banks was going to be playing, which only heightened when she was first shown in the trailer,...

The Star Wars prequel trilogy has been consistently maligned for years by fans, and for some very good reasons. The Phantom Menace set the tone for the prequels poorly. It made a lot of mistakes, including killing two of the best characters to come out of the movie, Qui-Gon Jinn and Darth Maul. Fortunately, both The Clone Wars and Rebels gave Maul a chance to expand his legacy.

Another character to get a raw deal out of The Phantom Menace was Watto, the individual who owned Anakin Skywalker and his mother when Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan found them. Though he seems like a one-note side-character, like many of the ancillary characters in the Star Wars universe, there is a lot more to Watto than it might seem— and a lot of those things don't really hold up to close scrutiny.

Over twelve years, and seven seasons, The Clone Wars established itself as one of the most brilliant creations of the Star Wars franchise's forty-plus year history, surpassing some of the movies with its quality. The stories and craftsmanship, as well as the value it adds to the films and broader canon, are all notable aspects of the animated show, and so too are the many characters it dives into.

Argentine Academy Award winner Juan José Campanella (“The Secret in Their Eyes”) is planning “Outlaw,” a reboot of El Zorro, inspired by his take on the historical figure behind the legend, Joaquín Murrieta, the director announced at an online presentation of Viacom International Studios 2020-21 slate.
Part of his first-look deal with Viacom International Studios, “Outlaw” will be “told with much more realism,” he added.
Campanella also announced further details of drama-thriller series “Los Enviados,” which looks like the first title to go before the cameras from his first-look deal with Vis, announced last May.
Led by Pierluigi Gazzolo, president, Studios and Ott, ViacomCBS Networks International, Vis top executives also used the presentation to announce renewals and deliver an update on a swathe of new titles announced over the last few months.

The networks in Latin America’s biggest markets — Globo, Telefe and Televisa — are fighting back against long-term digital erosion.
Last year in Brazil, Globo delivered its best all-day performance in eight years, averaging 14 rating points, according to market research shingle the Wit. Argentine Telefe’s “Sandro” is a ratings phenomenon. But the big question is how long this rally can last.
Over 2015-17, Globo’s free-to-air daily reach grew 6%, says Silvio de Andreu, Globo drama head. One standout: 160-episode “The Edge of Desire,” from Brazil’s well-known scribe Gloria Perez (“The Clone”), which averaged a 48 million reach.
Bowing March 5, “Sandro,” about the Latin American music icon, hit 16.9 ratings points by episode six, becoming Argentina’s most-watched 2018 program so far.
Surprisingly, “Sandro” took little away from its free-to-air competition, notes producer Juan Parodi: “Netflix and Amazon viewers have come back to free TV,” he says.

The 2010 Teen Choice Awards nominees are out and leading the way with six nominations apiece are "Gossip Girl" and "Iron Man 2." "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" and "Glee" are right behind them with five nominations each.
Will "New Moon" sweep the Teen Choice Awards like it did the MTV Movie Awards? We think it might! "Glee" star Jane Lynch is nominated for TV Villain, which we had never really thought about -- she's too hilarious. Other TV Villains include Terri O'Quinn from "Lost" and Russell Hantz from "Survivor." That is by far the most interesting category.
The two-hour event airs Monday, Aug. 9 at 8 p.m. on Fox. Starting Monday, June 14, fans ages 13-19 can vote once each day at www.teenchoiceawards.com. Performers, presenters and additional nominees will be announced soon.

Usually we see animated cartoons as a separate entity from live-action movies, or else they spawn a major movie event or franchise. This would be the case with G.I. Joe, which opens this Friday, August 7 in theaters nationwide. However, there are a select number of memorable animated television series that were based on a live-action movie. Having broke the mold in that sense, we decided to come up with our list of the Top Ten Animated Series Based on a Movie. Each of these animated series garnered various levels of success and popularity from various eras on TV nostalgia.
