HBO Max has given a script-to-series order to an adaptation of the classic children’s novel “The Westing Game,” the streamer announced Wednesday.

No writer or director is attached to the project, but HBO Max, along with producers MGM Television and Julie Corman, is “currently interviewing” candidates.

First published in 1978, Ellen Raskin’s “The Westing Game” is described as an “ensemble mystery-comedy” surrounding the death of millionaire Samuel Westing. The reading of Westing’s will sets in motion a game for his sixteen heirs unlike any other, the winners of which will walk away with his $200 million fortune.

The novel won the John Newbury Award for children’s literature in 1979 and was ranked number one on the list of the top 100 children’s novels of all time by School Library Journal in 2012.

For a very specific demographic, the ultimate news was just announced: Lindsay Lohan will appear on Watch What Happens Live! The episode will air next Thursday, April 17, EW has confirmed.

“This one is a long time coming. We love Lindsay and plan to celebrate the s@%# out of her!” host/executive producer Andy Cohen told E!.

Fans of the show know this has the potential to be quite the memorable episode. Not only is the live program proudly booze-soaked (a tradition they will obviously (right?) forgo for the evening), but the program’s cheeky charm thrives on Cohen asking the guests just-this-side-of-inappropriate questions.

We’ve been building toward this week’s episode for a while now.

It’s not just a matter of the recent spat between Castle and Alexis over the ubiquitous Pi which then led to Alexis telling her dad to give her some space. Nor Alexis’s insistence that she’s ready to move out of the familial home into one of her own (well, with Pi, that is). Like Father, Like Daughter also dealt with the hinted-at coolness between Beckett and Alexis, a recurrent theme in series 4 when Beckett was shot, making the teenager forcefully aware of the danger her father’s relationship with the detective puts him in.

6.6 Get a Clue

In last week’s episode, we saw the usual tension between Castle’s far-flung imagination and Beckett’s no-nonsense explanation. In most episodes, the truth is either somewhere in the middle between Castle’s theory of the crime and Beckett’s (usually favoring Beckett’s version) or clearly unrelated to both. In the first case, this allows Castle to maintain his position as crazy narrative smith without invalidating Beckett’s more pedestrian explanation (or vice versa). In the latter, both are clearly wrong, meaning neither is actually right, which likewise maintains the balancing act between two very strong characters.

What almost never happens is that Castle pretty much nails it out of the gate. Well, okay, at first he says...

But before Castle can have his treasure-hunting fun, he has to deal with the unpleasantness of his daughter and her fruitarian beau.

Alexis and Pi have moved in together and are happily living the Bohemian lifestyle, dumpster-diving for furniture and chasing bees for profit. Of course, Castle isn't too happy about the fact that his daughter has moved in with an idiot.

I open with that distinction because it seems as if all-day Monday, ever since the episode aired in Canada, I was tweeted at about how “crappy,” “Jump the Shark”-caliber and “ham-handed” this week’s episode would be. As such, despite the best efforts, a person goes into a viewing experience with certain (in this case, negative) expectations.

There’s nothing like the end of October to inspire a scary murder mystery story and nothing quite more frightening than realizing – as a parent – that you no longer have the controlling influence in your child’s life. In ‘Get A Clue,’ Castle manages to blend the two with a fair level of competency, though for as much as the Alexis (Molly Quinn) angle was hyped for this episode, it really serves more as bookends than part of the main plot itself.

Do you believe in the time traveling killer or a more logical explanation?

Jim: I loved that this week's case could actually have a non-logical explanation. After five years of crazy theories, Rick was due for a win - and what a great one it was!

Chandel: I would like to believe in a more logical explanation, but a little imagination never hurt anybody.

Angie: What I love about Castle is that there is always a logical explanation with just the hint that it maybe-kinda-coulda been something else, which is how I usually approach these kinds of mysteries.

Castle went all sci-fi on viewers this week, dealing with a killer who claimed to also be a time traveler.

Next Monday, meanwhile, the show will once again travel to the future - but in a different sort of way.

Yes, Halloween will arrive a few days early on this ABC smash, with Castle and Beckett looking into the strange murder of a young woman they find ritually posed, a collection of odd symbols strewn about her apartment.

Look for the main suspect to be a mysterious monk and for Castle (of course) to be convinced that the team has come across some kind of DaVinci Code-style conspiracy.
