Once CBS moved Survivor off of Thursdays, Fox knew it had to make a move. That’s how the net execs explain their decision to change the American Idol lineup from Tuesdays and Wednesdays to Wednesdays and Thursdays in January. “We’ve been thinking about this move years because Thursdays are so lucrative and so important to the network and the sales division,” explains Mike Darnell, Fox’s head of reality programming. “As a network, we’ve never been able to conquer that night. We’ve tried in some way for 20 years but we’ve never had anything big there.

“American Idol” is going to look a lot more like “Survivor” this season. A new set of challenges – because these contestants aren’t challenged enough to just stay on key – will enter the contest as Season 10 gears up, from who can make the best music video to self-promotion, TVGuide.com reported Thursday. Jacko Goes MTV for Birthday
Superstar Michael Jackson is celebrating his 44th birthday by going to this year's MTV Video Music Awards. The "Dangerous" hitmaker is flying from his current vacation spot in Las Vegas to New York for the bash at Radio City Music Hall on Thursday. Reports suggest the music video network will present the King of Pop with a special honor to coincide with his celebrations. However, one of Jackson's closest friends, psychic Uri Gellar, cannot be with the star for his celebrations, as he is in Australia filming a Survivor-type celebrity TV program, I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! for British network ITV.
