The critics were not kind with this MTV work: "This Voyage Vertical has certainly encouraged the audience to adopt a horizontal position " An experimental work,it shows some people locked in a cabin going down ..to Hell? no extraordinary discoveries;actually the screenplay focuses on the characters,their relationships,their reactions,their behavior;in a way,some kind of forerunner of the "cube" series.

The cast includes a young Gerard Depardieu,then completely unknown .Actually the other actors were at the time more famous than he was:Roger Pigaut and Anne Vernon were in Becker's movies and Marc Michel and Vernon were in Demy's "Les Parapluies De Cherbourg"
