The summer movie season may be winding down but Amazon Prime still has a hit or two up its sleeve in August 2021.
Amazon’s list new arrivals this month is highlighted by Evangelion:3.0+1.01 Thrice Upon A Time. That may be a mouthful of a name but it’s a big deal in the anime world. The streamer nagged exclusive rights to the final film in the Neon Genesis Evangelion film franchise known as “Rebuild of Evangelion”. With the future of the franchise up in the air, this could be the last chance in awhile for anime fans worldwide to catch some mecha action.

Film aficionados will want to keep an eye on Amazon Prime Video in August, as the streaming giant is set to debut two Cannes Film Festival premieres: “Val,” a new documentary about Val Kilmer that uses archival footage shot by the actor himself, and “Annette,” Leos Carax award-winning musical (it won best director at Cannes) starring Adam Driver and Maron Cotillard and featuring music by Ron and Russell Mael of Sparks.
But beyond the Prime Video originals, the Amazon library content added to the service next month is vast and impressive. Among the major movies coming to Prime Video include “Aliens,” “Fast Times at Ridgemont High,” “Jaws,” “Moneyball,” and “Predator.” Meanwhile, IMDb TV, the free service that users can access without a corresponding Amazon Prime subscription, will host “Apollo 13,” “La La Land,” and “Ghostbusters” among many other big titles.

Rage Against the Machine, Kiss, AC/DC and Slash are leading the nominations for the Classic Rock Roll of Honor awards, with two nods each. Rock legends Kiss and former Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash are both nominated in the prestigious Album of the Year and Band of the Year categories.
But competition will be tough - a staggering 16 artists have been shortlisted for their recent releases, including Wolfmother, Pearl Jam and Iron Maiden. Other competitors hoping to be named top group include AC/DC, Rage Against the Machine, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi and the Jeff Beck Band.
In the Event of the Year list, Rage Against the Machine's campaign to get a U.K. Christmas number one, and the resurgence in popularity of Journey's "Don't Stop Believing", are the top contenders. Court TV laces suburban tales with 'Secrets'
Court TV is going into the heart of suburbia with a new nonfiction series that covers stories of crime committed by the unlikeliest of people.
The network has given the green light to Suburban Secrets, which is described as City Confidential meets Desperate Housewives. The series tells the true tales of criminal acts that take place in suburban towns -- committed by devoted mothers, community leaders and hardworking neighbors -- and shows how a scandal can affect a small town. The stories are told from the people who lived it.
The 15-episode half-hour series, which will be shot in various U.S. locations through February, is set to premiere in the first quarter. It's produced in association with Sirens Media.
"The crimes in this series are real, and by going back to the actual locations -- many of which are in small, peaceful-looking towns -- and meeting the real people involved in these shocking events, viewers for the first time get to go totally inside a true crime story," said Marc Juris, general manager of programming and marketing at Court TV.
