Director Rodrigo Cortés has returned with an English-language feature film, Love Gets a Room. Cortés was previously known for his work on the Ryan Reynolds film Buried, as well other films like Red Lights and Down a Dark Hall. Having worked in his native language, Spanish, and English-language cinema, Cortés has repeatedly shown he is capable as a truly international filmmaker, and this newest movie adds to an already impressive filmography. He serves as a co-writer and editor as well in the production process.

Monday’s Up Next: Germany session at this year’s European Film Market (EFM) in Berlin put the spotlight on a slew of upcoming series, spanning Hamburg’s Red Light district, Germany’s first female undercover cop and the Munich Olympic massacre.
Invited to the Berlinale studio, with some participants taking part online, several of Germany’s top creatives made the play date to talk with Julia Fidel, head of the Berlinale Series. Hanno Hackfort (“4 Blocks”), Jella Haase (“Lollipop Minster”), Lisa Kreimeyer (Netflix), Viviane Andereggen (“Tatort”), Christian Beetz (“Make Love”), Georg Tschurtschenthaler (“Viral Dreams”), and actor Detlev Buck were amongst those that took part.
The idea of the panel was to present new material straight from the editing room with many of the series still six months away from being seen. The session provided a first look at a number of projects nearing completion, including the comedy “Greenlight – German Genius,...

Romantic comedy “Berlin, Berlin” is one of the top titles on the slate for Studio Hamburg Enterprises at Berlin’s European Film Market.
The film picks up the story of the turbulent love life of Lolle, played by Felicitas Woll, 15 years after the end of the German hit series. The film will have its theatrical release by Constantin Film in March, and She will screen the film at Efm for buyers.
Also on the slate is “Too Far Away,” which tells the story of a friendship formed amid the refugee crisis and on the soccer pitch. It will be shown on Feb. 28 as part of the Lola @ Berlinale section.
She is also offering thrillers and crime series with strong female characters at the center, such as “The Informer,” with Aylin Tezel, and “Wolfsland,” with Yvonne Catterfeld.
The thriller series “Marnow Murders” showcases Petra Schmidt-Schaller amidst a murderous conspiracy of decades past.

ITV tops Golden Rose Awards
LONDON -- The U.K.'s ITV was the big winner in the 44th annual Golden Rose Awards presented at the Rose d'Or Festival in Lucerne, Switzerland, Saturday. Harry Hill was named best male comedy performer for his ITV series, Harry Hill's TV Burp. Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway won as best game show and Anthony McPartin and Declan Donnelly were named best variety show hosts. Aardman's Creature Comforts won as best animation series and Martin Freeman (The Office) won as best sitcom actor for the ITV series Hardware. The U.K.'s Channel 4 picked up awards for Wife Swap as best reality show and Peep Show as best sitcom. Shane Richie was named best male soap actor for the BBC's EastEnders. Germany's Anke Engelke was named best female comedy performer for Ladykracher and Felicitas Wolf best sitcom actress for Berlin, Berlin. France's Benedicte Delmas won as best female soap actor for Saint Tropez, which won as best soap. The 2004 Honorary Golden Rose was presented to John de Mol, chairman and CEO of production company Endemol. It was the first time the international television festival had taken place in Lucerne, having previously been based in Montreux, Switzerland.
