Destin Daniel Cretton appeared at CinemaCon this evening for the first time to share the official title of Sony’s next live-action Spider-Man movie, which will star Tom Holland as the friendly neighborhood wallcrawler. The next film in Holland’s Spider-Verse is Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

During the panel, Cretton said his one-year-old’s first words were ‘Spider-Man.’ He also shared how he lost some money playing roulette.

“Everyday right now, I’m exploring the next stage of this amazing character with a team of incredible artists of the world. How to swing, how to create an emotional story and a ride we haven’t seen before,” said Cretton.

“They tell me it’s tradition to tell you something about the film, that no one knows. We do have a trailer even though we didn’t share anything,” Cretton teased. He gestured to Tom Holland on a big screen.

Those of you reading this will know that I’ve been doing this job for a long time now. My hope is that most of you appreciate the fact that I always do my best to bring you and this website the biggest news and updates as quickly and concisely as possible.

However, for any of you who perhaps don’t appreciate my takes on certain subjects, you can take great pleasure in the fact that, today, like millions of others, I spent five and a half hours watching Marvel Studios slowly reveal names on the back of 27 chairs. It was a long, arduous process which saw a new Avengers: Doomsday star revealed roughly every 13 minutes or so.

On the plus side, I’m grateful to you all for making that likely one of the biggest stories we’ll publish this month (perhaps even this year).

News just in: the Avengers: Doomsday cast has been unveiled. Well, we say ‘just in’. Over the last five or so hours, Marvel Studios has been confirming who will be starring in the long-awaited upcoming Avengers movie, which has officially begun production. Yes, in a live-streamed announceathon on Marvel’s YouTube and social media channels, a succession of 26 cast chairs were slowly unfolded, accompanied by character appropriate musical stings, in fifteen minute intervals, revealing the sprawling list of names set to appear in the Russo Brothers’ long-awaited return to the MCU.

What’s particularly infuriating isn’t just the bug itself—it’s the dedicated accounts being created specifically to ruin other players’ experiences. When someone names themselves “PortalToPrison” or “JeffToJail,” they’re not exactly hiding their villainous intentions.

Zach Cregger is planning to start shooting his Resident Evil reboot this summer in Europe, and he’s considering Austin Abrams of Euphoria as a potential star. The actor is said to be in early talks to lead the reboot, and this would be something of a reunion as Abrams is part of the cast of Weapons, Cregger’s highly anticipated follow-up to Barbarian.

NetEase Games’ Marvel Rivals offers a massive list of achievements that players can complete to get unique skins as well as some Units. These achievements are designed in a way that they encourage players to try out all the agents in the game.

The Black Phone was one of the best movies of 2022 and one of the best horror films of the decade so far, but it was almost completely self-contained. Things seemed wrapped up in a truly satisfactory way by the end of the movie, and the villain (played to perfection by Ethan Hawke) seemed completely dead. The actor revealed that he will no longer be present in 2026’s Avengers: Doomsday, thanks in part to the retooling the movie received after Jonathan Majors‘ firing. He will, however, have a major role in Avengers: Secret Wars. The conversation wasn’t limited to his future in the MCU, however. Benedict also spoke about his upcoming film, The Thing With Feathers, and how he approaches acting.

At the same time, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man also distinguishes itself by adapting familiar events in a new timeline, with the premiere's most recognizable moment lifted directly from one of the most exciting scenes in Captain America: Civil War.

Nestled in among all those big reveals was a piece of adult animation news I'm particularly excited about: opening credits and a release date for Devil May Cry, the upcoming adaptation of the popular video game series from original Castlevania showrunner Adi Shankar and Studio Mir.

The Devil May Cry games are about a half-human, half-demon devil hunter named Dante, who has a bad attitude and slices up the creatures of hell like no other. The first game debuted on the PlayStation 2 all the way back in 2001, but Dante's hold on popular culture has remained strong. There are five games to date, and most of them are very well-loved by fans.

One of the best aspects of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Multiverse Saga is the fact that we get to enjoy adventures set within that world on the small screen now too. It's true, the addition of the Disney Plus shows have added a whole new layer to the MCU, allowing the Marvel Studios franchise to explore new stories across an extended period of time without being constricted by the typical two or three hour runtime.
