The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach told Rolling Stone that the goal with the duo’s eighth album, “Turn Blue,” out tomorrow (13), was to make a “headphone record.” Well, they have certainly done that. In fact, listening to the album through speakers feels like you’re doing it a disservice and missing lovingly crafted details. “Turn Blue” is an album that is meant to be heard in its entirety with your full attention as the music pans from left to right and flows from your ears into your brain. It is not background music. In fact, we’d suggest to get the full effect, sink into a bean bag chair and a lava lamp. The album gets off to a trippy start with the nearly seven-minute fuzzy opus,“Weight Of Love.” But that only hints at what’s to come. On “Turn Blue,” a punchy guitar line morphs into a sonic...

Charlize Theron hasn’t hosted Saturday Night Live since 2000, which was 14 whole years ago and a performance which very few of us actually remember. That didn’t stop her from crafting a monologue out of a sketch from that 2000 show, however. Her singing part in that sketch kept getting reduced and reduced until she realized, “I can’t sing.” Which the writers apparently thought was hilarious because guys, Charlize Theron can do everything: Win Oscars! Star in dramas! Star in comedies! But… she can’t sing. Ha, ha!

While recent host Seth Rogen took nearly five years to return to “Saturday Night Live,” Charlize Theron makes that period look downright short by comparison. Her one and only other hosting gig took place in November 2000, making tonight’s return thirteen and a half years in the making. (To be fair, filming “Aeon Flux” took a lot out of everyone involved with that production, so we can’t fault her too much.) While preferring dramas to comedies in terms of her film choices, Theron does have “A Million Ways To Die In The West” on the way to your local movie theatre. Pairing her with Seth MacFarlane in that film might seem strange, but that’s probably precisely the point. That film sure looks a long way from "Monster" and "North Country." So maybe we’ll see a different performer than the one that graced Studio 8H at the turn of the century.

The Black Keys are back. Last week, the band announced that its first new album in almost three years, “Turn Blue,” will be released May 13 and, today, dropped its first single, “Fever.” Listen to the new song, watch the album teaser and check out the tracklist below. According to a press release, “Turn Blue” features production by Danger Mouse, who produced and co-wrote the Keys’ last album, 2011′s “El Camino,” and assisted on “Attack & Release” and “Brothers.” Drummer Patrick Carney said in a statement: ”On this record, we let the songs breathe and explored moods, textures and sounds.” They wrote that the title “Turn Blue” could be a reference to: “A: Suffocation, B: Sadness, C: Numbness from extreme cold, D: A Cleveland late night TV host from the 1960s named Ghoulardi, E: All of the above.” The Ohio rockers opt for a Sixties-inspired psychedelic sound on “Fever,” which layers a...

Bones Sky Living/HD: 9pm David Boreanaz directs The Bullet In The Brain, an episode that sees the city hotly anticipating the return of The Gravedigger, Heather Taffet, for her final appeal after being sentenced to death.

The executive producer of Bones has revealed details about the next episode in the show's sniper story arc. In recent installment 'The Bullet in the Brain', the Fox drama introduced sniper Jacob Broadsky (Arnold Vosloo), a former ally of Booth (David Boreanaz) who has become a cold-blooded killer. Stephen Nathan told Entertainment Weekly: "[In the March 10 episode] Booth is truly determined to go after him... but also is struggling with the demons that come along with being a sniper himself, and wondering how Brennan sees him." .Bones. . The Bullet in the Brain Do I actually feel sorry for Sweets? Really? Sweets?! Here.s this episode.s summary from tv.com: .The Gravedigger.s final appeal puts a sniper into the team's focus as he takes aim at Ms. Taffet, putting others in danger as well.. When Dr. Lance Sweets first appeared on .Bones. a few years back, I couldn.t stand the character. Nothing against John Francis Daley, who brings the character to life each week, but I couldn.t see the value of having a psycho-analyst making agents second-guess their moves. Hindsight and all that. But over the seasons, Sweets has grown on me. Where I used to fast-forward through scenes with him in them (I work at night, so...

Booth's alter ego makes his much-anticipated Bones debut this Thursday. Get ready to watch him wreak havoc and set the stage for a personal showdown with our hero.
Fittingly, his arrival dovetails with another infamous Bones villain's demise.
In “The Bullet In the Brain,” the Gravedigger makes an appearance. Likely her last, at the hands of the sniper - at least according to the Bones promo we saw yesterday.
Whereas the Gravedigger was a horribly misguided version of Brennan, the sniper is effectively an evil version of Booth, using Seeley's trade in the worst possible way.
Watch clips from the episode, along with commentary from both Bones creator Hart Hanson and executive producer Stephen Nathan on the big story line, below ...

This Thursday on Fox’s Bones, a new big bad will rise as one falls.
The January 27 episode of the Fox drama, titled “The Bullet In the Brain,” effectively wraps up the show’s recurring and ghoulish Gravedigger storyline. In doing so, it introduces a similar, sinister element — except whereas the Gravedigger was a horribly misguided version of Brennan, the new villain, a sniper, will exploit an expertise shared by Booth in a very bad way.
“He’s evil, evil Booth,” warns Bones creator Hart Hanson in this exclusive video preview below.

Bones' much-anticipated sniper story arc finally gets underway this week. It's unclear if he will be revealed Thursday, but this promo makes clear that he takes out his first target:
The Gravedigger.
Rest in peace, dear. You won't be missed. It remains to be seen if the sniper will knock off only miscreants and be revered by some (a la Dexter), but he's definitely offing one.
As this infamous killer makes her way to court, she is felled by a shot so accurate it could only be executed a professional. That leads Booth to uncover a startling revelation.
This is between me and him ...

"Bones" will close up the chapter about "The Gravedigger" and introduces a new villain in the January 27 episode called "The Bullet in the Brain". The city anxiously anticipates the arrival of Heather Taffet, more notoriously known as "The Gravedigger," for her final appeal after being sentenced to death for a kidnap-murder and a series of similar coldblooded crimes.
But when a bullet targeted at The Gravedigger is fired from a distance and hits her, the Jeffersonian team is tasked to piece together the sniper's precise location as well as identify the suspect and his motives.
With the help of probing investigator Caroline Julian, Booth and Brennan put together a list of likely suspects, but the evidence and the remarkable skill needed to pull off the crime leads the team to believe that the crime was an inside, professional job, leaving Brennan's father Max and even Booth as plausible suspects.

"Bones" returns from its brief winter hiatus on Jan. 20, in the new, post-"American Idol" time slot of 9.00 p.m. Et -- but it's the Jan. 27 episode that has us particularly excited.
"The Bullet in the Brain," David Boreanaz's third directing effort in six seasons, marks the conclusion of the gravedigger arc. And from episode title, synopsis and first images, it appears as though her appearance might be brief. Needless to say, spoilers and speculation ahead:
Convicted murder and serial suffocate-r Heather Taffet (Deirdre Lovejoy) arrives at court for her appeal early in the episode, when the long-hyped sniper makes his first appearance, presumably taking her out in the process. The brain in the episode's title is her own.
So with Taffet finally out of the way -- let's shed a tear, shall we? -- the new big bad's work is hardly over. And through some set of circumstances,...

One week after Bones returns from its winter hiatus on January 20th, David Boreanaz will be jumping back into the director’s chair for “The Bullet in the Brain” – the conclusion of the multi-season Gravedigger storyline.
The episode, which airs on January 27th, will kick-off a multi-episode arc which begins with the Gravedigger, Heather Taft, being gunned down by a unknown sniper while being transported to court. As the title suggests, the murder of the Gravedigger will be Brennan’s newest case to solve.
For a series that is known to show some of the most graphic representations of decaying human bodies on television, the filming of Gravedigger’s murder proved to be more complicated. Despite the unsettling moments that come from seeing a wonderfully created faux dead body, the filming of a sniper death scene has to he ...
