From industry headliners like Naruto, One Punch Man, Boruto, Black Clover, Attack on Titan, and many more, Awai has left his impression on pretty much every series anime fans have come to appreciate over the years.
Interestingly, what many don’t know is that he also helped create an anime that remains to this day one of the most underappreciated series in the industry. When honestly it should have been talked about much, much more.

Anime has been an exponentially increasing market since its inception. With the help of streaming and network distribution, anime has also become a worldwide phenomenon. A multibillion-dollar industry that doesn't show any signs of stopping, anime is probably Japan's largest and most influential cultural export.
With a seemingly endless supply of shows and stories, even the most dedicated fans couldn't keep up with everything being released. There are lots of different ways to measure the success of a franchise, but the most obvious one would be in terms of its commercial success and financial revenue.

Action anime are often known for somewhat gratuitous gore. However, some series have amazing fights without the usual brutality. While these brighter examples are usually based on toys or games, like Beyblade, this is not always true. Several of these franchises shape the childhood of many.
These iconic anime created an entire new generation of anime fans. Not all of them contain violence still unsuitable for younger viewers. Yet some, like Shangri-La Frontier, are acceptable because of their absolute lack of blood. Many of the most beloved action anime easily prove carnage isn't necessary for interesting battle sequences.

Beyblade X is the latest installment in a long line of Beyblade-related anime. Like most similar action anime, the series has almost no gore. Yet, the battles remain captivating because of the showrunners' understanding of the source material.

It is the era of game adaptations and we’re all living in it and Bakugan, in this case, is no exception to that. Like Digimon and Beyblade, the franchise is branching out into different ventures altogether.
Other than that, it is regarded as one of the most successful toy franchises among children. From cards to figurines, it left no stone unturned in becoming a multifaceted game company. But that is not the end of it all.

This is especially true for its upcoming live-action movie. The film is said to be directed by Brad Peyton and is officially in the works. And though it sounds promising, there is a catch to that as well.
Fans worry that the adaptation might be deemed lackluster in most aspects. This circles back to his past project Rampage which garnered mixed reviews.

Sadly, it's about to leave Netflix by the end of 2024 after being there for nearly five years. Even before knowing the difference between what’s categorized as animation and what’s considered anime, I was watching anime movies and shows like Pokemon, Digimon, Beyblade, and Dragon Ball on Cartoon Network. Thanks to Animax, my mind was exposed to Captain Tsubasa, Cardcaptor Sakura, Detective School Q, Inuyasha, and Yu-Gi-Oh! As much as I’d like to claim that I grew up with the works of Hayao Miyazaki, Satoshi Kon, Katsuhiro Otomo, Mamoru Oshii, and Hideaki Anno, that’s not the case at all, as I came around to their masterpieces later in my life. In addition to that, I’m aware of all the popular stuff like One Punch Man, Death Note, One Piece, Attack on Titan, etc. So, I guess I can say that I am pretty familiar with the medium and the genres that exist within its boundaries. And yet, when I saw Kenji Nakamura’s Mononoke,...

The trend has evolved into many remarking on just how shockingly edgy the older series were, with Beyblades involved in life-and-death battles, used as weapons to attack others and in the case of Metal Fusion, summoning literal gates to Hell. Some of the most surreal scenes from these series are captured below.

As a massively beloved manga creator, even One Piece's Eiichiro Oda was not spared fan backlash this week after posting a video that was made by AI.
On Dec. 21, 2023, a video posted by the One Piece manga staff account on X (formerly Twitter) was widely criticized for an AI-created song. Titled "Yo-ho-ho, We're Pirates," the song was written, composed and performed by an AI-synthesized voice. The track contains a mix of Japanese and English, with lines such as "Sailing the ocean, free and bold. With dreams of treasure and stories untold," before ending with the revelation that Oda specifically created it. The video has been viewed over 6.6 million times to date, resulting in more than 3,000 largely negative quote tweets.

Yu-Gi-Oh! is an incredibly unique anime, being based almost entirely around a trading card game, but despite this there are a variety of similar shows that fans of the franchise would likely enjoy. These shows of course include a variety of other anime based around card games, but they also include other series that are more similar in other aspects. For whatever reason someone enjoys the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise, there should be something on this list to scratch that itch.

As anime is slowly becoming mainstream media, many Japanese anime studios are competing against one another to showcase the hottest series for fans and to land licensing agreements with international streaming services. There are plenty of series to choose from nowadays; thus, the debate on which studio has the best anime catalog is challenging.
Each studio has its aesthetic and culture. Toei Animation has a legacy, featuring iconic anime series that paved the way for future generations, such as Dragon Ball Z and Sailor Moon. Kyoto Animation is known for its depiction of the beauty of daily life, highlighting and emphasizing specific scenes in clear animation quality.
Yet even though each studio has its unique style to attract anime viewers, there is one studio that stands out from the rest: Madhouse. We might be entering the dog days of summer but Hulu isn’t slowing down. The streamer’s list of new releases for August 2023 is a pretty impressive collection of content.
The biggest Hulu original this month is season 3 of true crime comedy Only Murders in the Building on Aug. 8. This time around Meryl Streep and Paul Rudd are joining the already-stacked cast that features Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez. This season’s central murder appears to take place at a theater (outside the building) but I think we’ll let it slide.
That’s far from the only worthwhile original in August as Aug. 2 sees the premiere of the third and final season of superb comedy Reservation Dogs. That will be followed by South Korean sci-fi series Moving on Aug. 9, Solar Opposites season 4 on Aug. 14, and A Murder at the End of the World on Aug. 29. Of course,...

Beyblade is now old enough to be considered a classic anime franchise, though it's of course just as well, if not more so known for the toys. It also launched alongside a 1999 manga series that inspired the anime, though this incarnation isn't quite as well-known. Now, a new manga for the top property is being released as part of a sort of early anniversary, and the creative team working on it is rather surprising.
Beyblade X is the latest manga in the series, but the amount of talent involved is no mere child's play. With such hits as The Promised Neverland and Kakegurui under their belts, these creators would seem like the last individuals to work on the franchise. In reality, they might be the perfect writer and artist for the job, taking things beyond nostalgia and delivering a topsy-turvy hit for readers of every generation.

Exclusive: Transformers duo Lorenzo Di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian are producing a movie about iconic escape artist and illusionist Harry Houdini for Paramount.
Plot details are being kept under wraps on the untitled development project but we understand it will be set of its time in the early 20th Century and have a Sherlock Holmes tone, dealing as it does with a human superhero type.
Script is being written by Neil Weidener and Gavin James who are also working with the studio on Jerry Bruckheimer’s Beyblade project we revealed last week.
Houdini (born Erik Weisz) was the Hungarian-American stunt performer and mysteriarch, noted for his escape acts and his rags-to-riches immigrant story. He first attracted notice in vaudeville in the US and then as “Harry ‘Handcuff’ Houdini” on a tour of Europe, where he challenged police forces to keep him locked up. Soon he extended his repertoire to include chains,...

Some very odd and unexpected news has hit the movie world today, as mega-producer Jerry Bruckheimer has found his next project: An adaptation of "Beyblade" as a potential live-action franchise. For the unfamiliar, these started out as toys that were essentially customizable tops that fight one another in little arenas, became quite popular for a time, and went on to inspire comics and animated shows. Now? Hasbro, Paramount, and the producer of such hits as "Pirates of the Caribbean" and "Top Gun" are attempting to turn that concept into gold. Somehow.
As reported by Deadline, up-and-coming writing duo Neil Widener and Gavin James are...

Exclusive: Let it Rip! Mr Blockbuster Jerry Bruckheimer is producing a live-action movie with Paramount based on the popular toy franchise Beyblade.
Neil Widener and Gavin James are scripting the project, whose plot details are being kept under wraps.
The spinning top toys – a competitor of Pokemon – were originally developed by Japanese firm Takara and have been licensed by different toy companies including Hasbro. The battling tops concept inspired manga, anime and comics series, followed by localized international TV versions, all based around a Beyblade fighting tournament.
Early Beyblades included Ultimate Frostic Dranzer, Spin Dragoon and Saizo. The tops fight in arenas called Beystadiums, which have something of the colosseum about them with open sections in the walls and openings on the sides to launch into. Each Beyblade has a BeyLauncher, used to launch into battle.
The pic is in early development but the Transformers studio will likely be considering...

The Action Scene is a column exploring the construction of action set pieces, but it also considers “scene” in the sense of field or area: “action” as a genre and mode that spans different cultures and historical periods. By examining these two levels in tandem—one oriented toward aesthetic expression, the other toward broader contexts and concepts—this series aims to deepen appreciation for and spark discussion about action cinema. In a pivotal scene from Chang Cheh’s The One-Armed Swordsman (1967), hero Fang Kang, having lost his right arm and seemingly all hope of improving his swordsmanship, is thrown a lifeline in the form of a kung-fu training manual, given to him by the kindly country girl who nursed him back to health. Although more than half the booklet was destroyed in a fire, the remains turn out to be conveniently accommodating to his injury: it was solely the right-handed maneuvers that were burned away,...

Hasbro is looking to expand its Hollywood presence as more of the toy company's brands are being looked at as possible movies, or even TV shows. The Transformers franchise has proved to be worth billions, and G.I. Joe is already being reimagined with Snake Eyes set to arrive later this year. Now, Entertainment One is digging into the Hasbro treasure chest to see what other brands might be worthy of adaptations.
Entertainment One, stylized as eOne, was purchased by Hasbro earlier this year for $3.8 billion. The company has produced projects Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, 1917, Judy, The Walking Dead and Peppa Pig. Now, they're looking at Hasbro brands that haven't yet been tapped as franchises. While it's unclear what direction or form these potential projects will take, Dungeons & Dragons, Power Rangers and Action Man were mentioned by Pancho Mansfield, eOne's president of global scripted programming at the recent UK Screenings event.
