Marvel's street-level vigilantes join forces under the leadership of Charlie Cox's Daredevil against Mayor Fisk in new Marvel Cinematic Universe art. The MCU timeline has been exploring various vigilantes through various shows and films, and Daredevil: Born Again is putting a bigger spotlight on the street-level side of the franchise with the return of Matt Murdock and Frank Castle. With Wilson Fisk now serving as mayor of New York, vigilantes have a bigger target on their backs than ever.
Through Daredevil: Born Again season 1, Mayor Fisk has slowly been targeting vigilantes in New York, with many fans convinced that the MCU is leading to an adaptation of Marvel's Devil's Reign storyline. To show what that could look like in live-action, @SoloAuthority shared new MCU artwork with Cox's Daredevil leading the many street-level vigilantes that exist in the franchise, including Tom Holland's Spider-Man. Spoiler Alert !!!Daredevil: Born Again Spoilers Ahead!
The latest episode of Daredevil: Born Again recently made its way to the screens, and the way the show has delivered this time around already seems to be better than all the past episodes from the saga. One of the major reasons behind this is that it finally seems to have brought back Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle, aka the Punisher.

For one, while no serious progression has found its way into Frank’s story, the anti-hero was still once again introduced to the screens years after his original television series concluded airing on the screens. But his unhinged mind being teased this way was actually enough—not to mention, Bernthal himself is looking forward to carrying the same in The Punisher TV special too.

Jon Bernthal wanted to be sure Marvel had the right story for him before bringing Frank Castle back in Daredevil: Born Again.
Following the Punisher's long-awaited return in Born Again's fourth episode, Bernthal spoke with Entertainment Weekly about the road to his reappearance and why the pre-overhaul show's initial pitch never appealed to him. "Ultimately, I didn't see it. I didn't see the version of Frank, and what they wanted from Frank [didn't] really make sense to me and I thought would not appeal to the fans and wouldn't be congruent. It was not something I was really interested in doing. So we had to walk away," he said.
Once the original showrunners were let go in 2023 and replaced with Dario Scardapane -- who helped executive produce Netflix's The Punisher spinoff -- Bernthal felt more at ease with its direction, stating, "They really brought me into the conversation.

It has been six years since audiences last saw Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle / The Punisher in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Punisher is easily one of Marvel's most famous and sometimes controversial, as he often kills his enemies, which typical superheroes do not. Even though the Netflix era of Marvel, now classified as The Defenders Saga, ended in 2019 rather unceremoniously, fans have been waiting for the characters introduced in that corner of the franchise to return. Aside from Daredevil, The Punisher was the second most-in-demand fan-favorite character to make his return to the MCU.
Daredevil: Born Again marks the character's grand return, fittingly with the episode airing nine years to the date that Daredevil Season 2 debuted on Netflix and audiences got their first glimpse at Bernthal's The Punisher. It has been many years, and fans probably have questions about the Marvel Cinematic Universe's version of The Punisher and how...

Daredevil: Born Again is continuing to prove itself as a return to form for Marvel Television with each new episode it airs, and the latest one, Sic Semper Systema, is no exception. In what is perhaps the highlight of the fourth episode, fans saw the return of Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/The Punisher, who first made his debut as the character in the second season of the original Daredevil series on Netflix. Daredevil: Born Again wasn't just an opportunity to bring Matt Murdock back into the MCU — other street-level characters like Frank Castle are also getting that second chance, and fans are thrilled about it.
The fourth episode of Daredevil: Born Again features Matt Murdock investigating a Punisher copycat who is responsible for the murder of Hector Ayala, a.k.a. White Tiger. Matt had just represented Hector in court, helping him to get acquitted after he was accused of killing an NYPD Officer,...

Jon Bernthal recently revealed that he almost didn’t return to the Daredevil universe as Frank Castle/ The Punisher. Apparently, the early versions of “Daredevil: Born Again” did not include the character as he was in the Netflix universe or the Marvel comics. Given what the actor has stated, it seems the rumors about the show being very “jokey” were true.
Marvel initially approached Bernthal with the first iteration of the show, which didn’t appeal to the actor.
“Ultimately, I didn’t see it. I didn’t see the version of Frank, and what they wanted from Frank didn’t really make sense to me and I thought would not appeal to the fans and wouldn’t be congruent. It was not something I was really interested in doing. So we had to walk away.”

Warning: This article contains major spoilers for the latest episode of "Daredevil: Born Again."
If there was still any remaining doubt over whether "Daredevil: Born Again" takes place within the familiar confines of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, well, there shouldn't be. There's the main title, after all, which alludes to both a popular comic book series run and the fact that the Netflix series has been "reborn" into the rest of the MCU. Of course, the first two episodes also included multiple references to the overall franchise that established a shared continuity with Marvel characters such as Joe Bernthal's Punisher (duh), Tom Holland's Peter Parker/Spider-Man, and Chris Evans' Steve Rogers. Now, however, the series has gone even further by directly addressing one of the more forgotten aspects of the wider universe -- and it involves, by far, the worst Disney+ series we've had the misfortune of watching.

Jon Bernthal made his long-awaited return as Frank Castle during tonight's episode of Daredevil: Born Again, but it seems The Punisher wasn't going to be a part of the original version of the Disney+ series - because the actor had decided to walk away!
During an interview with EW, Bernthal spoke about reprising the role after playing the volatile vigilante in two seasons of the Netflix series and his own Punisher spin-off show.
"It was like, Let's see if this works. Let's see if there's a real openness and a hunger to let Frank be what Frank is, which is dark enough to have the courage and the boldness to turn your back on the audience and to make it difficult, to make it enormously psychologically complex and to steer away from any cuteness or humor and to really go full bore."

Spoiler Alert: This article contains spoilers for Episode 4 of “Daredevil: Born Again,” now streaming on Disney+.
Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle, aka the Punisher, is finally back in the MCU.
Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) comes face-to-face with his old acquaintance and violent vigilante as he searches for White Tiger’s (Kamar de los Reyes) killer in the latest episode of “Daredevil: Born Again.”
In the final moments of last week’s episode, Hector Ayala, aka the hero White Tiger, was found innocent in his trial against the NYPD then shot and killed on the street by an unknown murderer. Now, Matt searches for the culprit, and he originally thinks the corrupt cop Powell (Hamish Allan-Headley) is the shooter. He corners Powell in the courthouse and interrogates him, but the trail goes cold as Matt listens to Powell’s steady heartbeat with his super-senses and determines he’s innocent.

Luke Cage actor Mike Colter recently shared his thoughts about returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The actor previously portrayed the character in Marvel's Netflix television series.
As reported by Collider, Colter spoke about reprising his role as Luke Cage during a panel at Indiana Comic Con. "I still have hopes for it," he said. "I don't think about it anymore. I think there's always time. I don't think it's impossible. Anything can happen." Colter previously appeared in Netflix's Luke Cage series, which aired from 2016-2018, as well as its crossover event The Defenders in 2017. In February, it was reported that Marvel executives have been trying to get other members of The Defenders team back in the MCU for future projects.
Earlier this month, Daredevil: Born Again premiered on Disney+, both reviving and continuing the Daredevil series originally released on Netflix. Charlie Cox reprises his role as Matt Murdock / Daredevil for the new series.

Marvel Rivals is already chaos incarnate. Heroes are flinging each other across the battlefield, explosions are going off like a Fourth of July celebration, and Rocket Raccoon is probably yelling something about “inferior mammals.”
But just when you thought you’d mastered your favorite hero pairings, NetEase is about to flip the script. Starting in Season 2, team-up abilities are getting a shake-up, meaning some combos will vanish, some will evolve, and most importantly, new, game-breaking synergies will emerge.

And let’s be honest, you know you’re secretly hoping for that one absurdly overpowered team-up that makes everyone in the lobby rage quit. So, which duos could be coming next? And will they be absolutely ridiculous? Oh, you bet.

Hopefully, Daredevil: Born Again’s creative team will treat Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle, a.k.a. the Punisher, with more respect than Foggy (Elden Henson) received in the very first installment of the Disney+ streaming series. Bernthal hasn't appeared yet in the episodes which have already dropped. However, the fan-favorite Marvel character's arrival is imminent, and it will undoubtedly rub Mayor Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio) the wrong way given the Kingpin's political stance on vigilantes. Regardless of how Fisk reacts, though, showrunner Dario Scardapane is teasing a tornadic reunion between the fan-favorite vigilante and the man without fear (Charlie Cox). Scardapane said in an interview with TVLine:
"Jon is near and dear to my heart. It was amazing to come back and get to work with him again. I feel that whenever Frank comes into the story, hijinks ensue, and in this story, that is very, very true.

Six years after the end of his eponymous Netflix series, Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle/Punisher will return to the MCU in Daredevil: Born Again. This iteration of the character debuted in Daredevil season two as an antihero who contrasted with the strict Catholic morality of Daredevil/Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox). Due to the positive reception of Bernthal's performance, Punisher was given a spinoff, which lasted for two seasons. The Punisher's showrunner was Dario Scardapane, who Marvel later recruited to give Daredevil: Born Again a creative overhaul to more closely match its Netflix predecessor.
Numerous actors from Netflix's Daredevil were brought back, including Cox and Bernthal as well as Vincent D'Onofrio, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Wilson Bethel, and Ayelet Zurer. Bernthal's return is a highly anticipated element of Daredevil: Born Again, especially because the series reunites him with Scardapane. Daredevil: Born Again showrunner Dario Scardapane has teased The Punisher's violent return in upcoming episodes. Jon Bernthal will be reprising his role as Frank Castle from Netflix's Punisher series.
Scardapane reunites with Bernthal on Daredevil: Born Again, after previously working as both a writer and producer on the Punisher show. The Punisher has yet to appear in Born Again, but his arrival has been signaled by the appearance of his skull symbol around Hell's Kitchen.

Daredevil: Born Again has seen a second shocking death after Foggy’s death at the beginning of the show. Although students of film look to the past to learn what inspired modern filmmaking, groundbreaking cinema is being created every day. With the world of entertainment being more fast-paced and streamlined than ever before, filmmakers are finding new and innovative ways to tell stories for all audiences.
General audiences have been outspoken about their feelings that many films nowadays all feel similar. However, there are plenty of modern masterpieces that deserve more praise for what they've done for filmmaking today.
John Wick Changed the Action Genre John Wick (2014)
John Wick is now considered to be one of the biggest and best modern action franchises today, including four films, a prequel streaming series and the spinoff film Ballerina, set for release later this year. While the massive success seems obvious now, the first John Wick film was initially destined to be a straight-to-dvd and Blu-ray release after initial test screenings went poorly.

Before Jon Bernthal became the Punisher in Netflix’s Daredevil, Thomas Jane first played the anti-hero in the 2004 film, The Punisher. Daredevil: Born Again is set to feature the Punisher as one of the chief characters in its story, and that seems to be that this might echo some real-life issues that have come to be associated with the character. The Punisher is going to have a very deep and complicated storyline that is going to focus on some themes that have allegedly been long overdue for the character.

A few characters that are linked to the police have been seen in promos sporting a tattoo that seems oddly inspired by The Punisher, and The Kingpin also singled the vigilante out in his speech when he was talking about vigilante violence (along with Spider-Man and Daredevil). This could look into themes and issues that have plagued the real world and have become inadvertently linked to the Punisher.

If you poll one hundred people and ask their opinions on the Marvel Netflix shows, you’ll likely get one hundred different responses. Each show had different themes and vibes. It makes sense considering each character differed in various ways. And, if we're being honest, the ball was dropped on some of the programs.
As Marvel Studios began pushing to bring their comic book characters “home”, Netflix canceled their Marvel shows. Everyone rejoiced when it was confirmed that Jon Bernthal would reprise his iconic role as Frank Castle/The Punisher in Daredevil: Born Again, but it still left fans everywhere curious if he was going to show up in any other MCU projects, similar to how Charlie Cox has appeared as Matt Murdock/Daredevil in four MCU projects before Born Again. It was announced not long ago that Bernthal would return after Daredevil: Born Again in a Punisher Spotlight/Special Presentation project, but plot details about the Disney+ series are being kept under wraps at this time. However, Bernthal recently caught up with The Hollywood Reporter at the worldwide premiere of The Accountant 2, and he teased what fans can expect to see when the solo Punisher project hits Disney+ next year:...

Jon Bernthal is back as the Punisher in the newly released Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again and is opening up about the upcoming special centered entirely on the antihero.
Bernthal first began playing Frank Castle/Punisher, a grieving father-turned-vigilante, on Netflix’s version of Daredevil in 2016, then going on to star in his own Netflix series The Punisher from 2017 to 2019. With Daredevil now revived at Disney+, he makes an appearance on Born Again, and it was announced at the end of February that he would be headlining a Punisher special for Marvel Television. Bernthal is currently cowriting the standalone special alongside Reinaldo Marcus Green, who will also direct. The Disney+ show will air in 2026 alongside the second season of Daredevil.

We've said it many times before, but allow me to say it again: Anything can happen in the MCU. Marvel Studios is no stranger to making the impossible come to fruition. Remember, this is the same studio that brought together characters of 20+ movies for Avengers: Endgame and now it looks to do the same for characters from across the whole multiverse in the next two Avengers movies.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a breeding ground for potential and, more often than not, it realizes that potential, whether that's in big-budget action movies or in innovative Disney Plus shows that think outside the box. Quite simply, Marvel Studios has all the potential in the world (or multiverse) to make magic happen, and now it sounds like it plans on doing the same again.

The multiverse is collapsing, and there's no conventional way to save it. Unfortunately, that means opportunistic antagonists will look for twisted ways in which reality can be preserved, and Doctor Doom will be among them. In 2026 the Marvel Cinematic Universe will face its biggest threat yet during the events of Avengers: Doomsday. Worlds will collide and sacrifices will be made. So the best chance to stop the madness is for iconic heroes to come together and fight against the common enemy. However, The Avengers disbanded after the departure of Iron Man, Steve Rogers, and Natasha Romanoff, and now it's up to Sam Wilson to pick up the pieces.

The street-level superhero of Marvel, Daredevil, finally made its Disney+ premiere after three successful seasons on Netflix. Charlie Cox has already shown his presence in the MCU through previous appearances as The Man Without Fear in Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.

Warning: This article contains major spoilers for the first episode of "Daredevil: Born Again."
Fans have spent a long, long time wondering how similar "Daredevil: Born Again" would ultimately end up being to the Netflix show ... but maybe we should've been asking how it would stand out, instead. Much has been made of the creative overhaul behind the scenes in order to transform Marvel's reunion series into one that carries over various elements from its prior incarnation. While that has resulted in the long-awaited returns of Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson and Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Matt Murdock's (Charlie Cox) fellow "avocadoes at law," the new creative team also surprised viewers with one unexpected addition. Those familiar with the Netflix shows probably assumed that they knew exactly how the Man Without Fear's powers would be depicted in this series. They were probably surprised to find out that...

The pre-creative overhaul version of Daredevil: Born Again wasn't going to feature Karen Page or Foggy Nelson, with the latter set to be killed off-screen (we can only imagine what the backlash to that decision would have looked like).
When The Punisher showrunner Dario Scardapane took charge of the Daredevil revival, Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson were both tapped to reprise their respective Marvel roles.
Talking to Entertainment Weekly about her return, Woll admitted that initially being dropped from Daredevil: Born Again - which had been envisioned as a full reboot - was a tough pill to swallow.
"Yeah, I've been through a roller coaster of feelings about it," Woll admitted. "The thing to always remember is that even if something might feel personal, it's just not. This business is too enormous for anything to be personal. There's just decisions being made."

There are many familiar faces returning to Hell's Kitchen in "Daredevil: Born Again." Charlie Cox, Vincent D'Onofrio, and Jon Bernthal are all heading back to where it all began for more wince-inducing comic book action that we've come to expect from this particular corner of the MCU, which doesn't pull its punches and breaks plenty of bones while doing so. Besides the major players once again entangled in the affairs of the Man Without Fear, there are also some newcomers. Sneaking into the world of kings and devils is Daniel Blake, a supporter of Wilson Fisk (D'Onofrio) who's aiding the former convict's campaign for Mayor of New York. But who is this young upstart who believes the former kingpin has what it takes? Well, if anyone in the cast is familiar with the concept of maintaining a front while engaging in criminal activity, it's Michael Gandolfini.

After years of teasing cameos, Marvel’s the Man without Fear is finally back in Daredevil: Born Again, and the Disney+ show’s timing is fearlessly fantastic.
As Donald Trump prepares to address Congress tonight amidst tariffs, a stock market slump and dangerous intranational realignments and anxiety, it is a reminder it has become impossible the past month not to see almost everything through the distorted lens of a convicted felon president’s latest reign of terror and error.
With terms like “resist” and “retribution” employed in the long-awaited and creatively retooled Charlie Cox-led Born Again, the first Daredevil series since 2018 lines up to the real America of 2025 on a number of levels. Certainly, with the City Hall-aspiring Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio) promising five boroughs voters to “keep our streets safe” to grab absolute power to abuse for riches, there is a lot of Maga here, as well as a lot of creativity and history.

We just recently bid our farewells to 2024 — a year that was unusually quiet when it came to new superhero projects. DC released only one single live-action movie in the form of Joker: Folie à Deux, while the Marvel Cinematic Universe followed the exact same path with Deadpool & Wolverine. Granted, there were some amazing series such as The Penguin and Agatha All Along to fill in the gaps. But amidst a creative reboot in DC's offices and Marvel rethinking their release strategy moving forward, there's no denying it was an uncharacteristically dry year. On the bright side, 2025 will be anything but, and things will only get better as we head into 2026.
Avengers: Doomsday, Spider-Man 4, Clayface, and more will be released in 2026. But if that wasn't enough, it was recently confirmed two highly anticipated Marvel series will arrive in the same time window. Not only will it be a very busy year for audiences,...

Years of anticipation have led to this moment, and the premiere of Daredevil: Born Again is officially upon us. The first two episodes of the TV-ma Disney+ series are set to debut on the platform tomorrow, with the show then following a weekly release model through the remaining seven episodes until the season finale on April 15. To celebrate the imminent release, the official Daredevil X account has shared the final teaser from Born Again, which features Jon Bernthal’s Punisher narrating over newly-released footage until the two come to blows at the end. Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) and Frank Castle have always been at odds over how to handle criminals, but Matt may be forced to call on Frank in Daredevil: Born Again when he has nowhere else to turn.

It's hard to argue against the fact that Jon Bernthal is currently the definitive actor to take on the role of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's (MCU) most feared vigilante, The Punisher (aka Frank Castle). Bernthal perfectly captured the controversial anti-hero's bottomless rage and humanity. He was such a perfect fit for the role that he was frequently cited as one of the best parts of the McU's inconsistent Netflix era.
The same, unfortunately, can't be said for his villains. If fans loved Bernthal's performance so much that he's inseparable from the character, most (if not all) of his villains faded into obscurity. This wasn't because the actors were bad; in fact, they were all good. The problem was that Netflix's The Punisher wasted Frank's villains by repeating some of the oldest and most frustrating mistakes of the modern superhero genre.

Daredevil: Born Again showrunner Dario Scardapane has promised that Karen Page will be a crucial character in the Disney+ show. Deborah Ann Woll is one of several stars returning from Netflix's Daredevil, as she will reprise her role as Matt Murdock's friend Karen.
Karen was a pivotal character in Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli's legendary Born Again comics run that inspired the Disney+ show, though there are expected to be key differences. There have been no signs that the TV show will depict Karen as a heroin-addicted porn star like in Miller's comic, instead she's been shown in promotional material happily reuniting with Murdock (Charlie Cox) and Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson).

Luke Cage and Iron Fist are perhaps one of the most iconic duos in the Marvel Universe. Appearing in a slew of versions of the Marvel Universe, Heroes for Hire is an important part of the superhero community in Marvel Comics, but it also allowed the early versions of the character to talk about race in a nuanced manner, the kind that is not always the case with other Black heroes.

Marvel’s upcoming series, Daredevil: Born Again, is set to enrich its narrative by integrating elements of light-heartedness and drama through the inclusion of Yusuf Khan, portrayed by Mohan Kapur. Yusuf, known from Ms. Marvel as Kamala Khan’s father, steps into Matt Murdock’s world, adding a unique blend of comedic and serious tones to the series.
Marvel Studios executive Sana Amanat shared insights about Yusuf’s role in the series. “It was such a fun challenge, I have to say. I was laughing a lot because I do think that’s the most McU-aspect of a cameo like that is that we brought some of that comedic energy that the MCU is known for with Yusuf Khan.
The challenge is we’re not living in the Ms. Marvel world or corner. We’re living in the Daredevil corner, so just making sure that the tone compliments Matt Murdock.

Fans of the Netflix-era Marvel shows -- known as the Defenders Saga after they joined the rest of Marvel Studios' fare -- are no doubt waiting for "Daredevil: Born Again," not least because the show will see the return of Jon Bernthal's Punisher. Bernthal delivered what may very well be the definitive version of Marvel Comics' famed violent vigilante in "Daredevil" season 2 (2015), and returned for two seasons of a solo show called "The Punisher" (2017-2019).
Fortunately, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is not only reviving the character, but we already know what Bernthal's MCU Punisher will do after "Daredevil: Born Again." His next project will be a Disney+ special directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green, in the one-off vein of the fun 2022 monster movie homage "Werewolf By Night."
