From balancing between two motorcycles in his maiden film Phool Aur Kante to chewing gham in Singham….that’s Ajay Devgan for you. Quietly accomplished…and quite accomplished, thank you! Since, Phool Aur Kante Devgan has learnt to effortlessly stride different kinds of cinema without making a song and dance of his versatility.
If, on one hand, he played the smirking villain to vamp Aishwarya Rai in Khakee, on the other hand, he was equally home playing her shy lover from the past in Raincoat. Ajay’s directorial roster includes everyone from Prakash Jha to Kuku Kohli.
True, he doesn’t have the support of the Chopra-Johar group of powerful filmmakers in Bollywood. But Devgan has managed to make his place without depending on the brand-name directors.

Netflix India unveiled the anticipated trailer for “Khakee: The Bengal Chapter” at a star-studded event in Kolkata on Wednesday, ahead of its March 20 premiere.
Produced by Friday Storytellers and created by industry veteran Neeraj Pandey, the crime drama is co-directed by Debatma Mandal and Tushar Kanti Ray. The new series, set against the backdrop of early 2000s West Bengal, centers on Indian Police Service (Ips) cop Arjun Maitra, a principled officer who emerges as a catalyst for change during a period when gangsters and politicians wielded unchallenged authority. His determination to forge a path toward justice within a treacherous landscape of political machinations and gang warfare forms the narrative backbone of the show.

In this exclusive interview RajKumar Santoshi talks with Subhash K Jha on the return of the Salman Khan, Aamir Khan comedy, Andaz Apna Apna called me to inform me that they are planning to re-release 500 prints. I am very happy, of course. Why wouldn’t I be? The love and devotion that the film has collected over the years is beyond anything I’ve seen. Now, all those who love the film and were not there when it was first released would be able to see and enjoy it on the big screen.
Is it your favourite film from your repertoire?
It is my most popular film for sure. But I have other favourites. I like my work in most of my films, including Ghayal, Ghatak, Khakee, and Lajja, which I know is your favorite. Andaz Apna Apna is special for two reasons.

Netflix has unveiled its 2025 content slate targeting India’s expanding streaming market. The company’s latest India lineup, shared Monday in Mumbai, is both sizable and diverse, spanning a plethora of genres across six feature films, 14 series and five unscripted titles — but it’s also more targeted than in recent years (Netflix released as many as 40 original Indian titles in 2021).
“Our 2025 slate promises a rich and varied lineup, from gripping dramas and thrilling heists
to heartwarming rom-coms and adrenaline-pumping action,” says Monika Shergill, Netflix’s VP of content in India. On the movie front, Shergill highlights tentpole projects like Aryan Khan’s grand Bollywood-themed series, The Ba***ds of Bollywood (The Bads of Bollywood), and Siddharth Anand’s high-stakes drama, Jewel Thief: The Heist Begins, which “bring scale and excitement: to the slate. Rajkumar Santoshi’s Khakee was released 21 years ago. The film, which featured
Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, Tusshar Kapoor, Atul Kulkarni, and Aishwarya Rai was a noir drama set in the world of the police.
In April 2003, while shooting for Khakee in Nashik, a car on the set rammed into the actress, throwing her into a nearby bush. The bush saved her from sure death.
Recalling the incident, Aishwarya’s co-star Amitabh Bachchan said in a past interview, “We were shooting on the road outside Nashik. The stuntman drove too fast, at 60 and 70 kilometres per hour, and skidded. All of us jumped out of the way. But Aishwarya and Tusshar Kapoor couldn’t move fast enough. The car slammed into her chair. It was terrifying.”
Bachchan Saab continued, “The car hit her and took her down a crevice and slammed into a cactus plant. Akshay Kumar pulled the car out and extricated her.

Subhash K Jha takes a look back at Rajkumar Santoshi’s drama Khakee as it clocks 21 years.
RajKumar Santoshi dismantles the stereotypes of the cop universe in a tale that entertains and reflects on all that is wrong and right with the police.
The aging and asthmatic Dcp, Anant Shrivastav (Amitabh Bachchan), whose assignments have so far afforded him a cushy existence, suddenly finds himself in charge of a crucial mission. He is backed by the unscrupulous Shekhar (Akshay Kumar) and the overenthusiastic fresh recruit (Tushar Kapoor). The trio, along with two constables, must escort the prized catch, the most-wanted Isi agent, Iqbal Ansari (Atul Kulkarni), safely to Mumbai.
The chain-smoking, well-connected enemy (Ajay Devgan) is out to foil their mission and has a head-start most times. Even before the operation gets underway, the police party is under the scanner. And what was meant to be a three-day journey turns...

“It’s the most wonderful time of the year” goes the Xmas song, but it also applies to sorting through the dreck and crap that came out of Bollywood in 2015. I watched many of these duds so that you don’t have to, and trust me they’re not as hilarious as I’m going to make them, because for every great Jodi like Srk-Kajol in Dilwale there’s Sunny Leone being paired with Ram Kapoor. Yet there were some awful gems like Msg and its sequel that came out in the same year – take that annual Fast and Furious franchise! Herewith is the worst and secretly hilarious of the year.
Worst Actor – Emraan Hashmi for Hamari Adhuri Kahani/Mr X
After doing so well in Shanghai, and Ghanchakkar, Emraan decided to play it safe with his performances in Hamari Adhuri Kahani (paired opposite Vidya Balan) and the atrocious Mr X.

Boss is that rare Bollywood action film whose stars are worthy of the pedestal they're put on. Akshay Kumar (Special 26, Khakee) plays the title hero, a badass so miraculously macho that his sweat actually makes plants blossom. He meets his match in Ayushman Thakur (Shootout at Wadala's Ronit Roy), a crooked Delhi cop who threatens Boss's estranged brother (Shiv Pandit) and father. Kumar and Roy's characters are sketched out so broadly that they're practically embodiments of virtue and vice. Still, these extreme traits don't seem so extreme when they're personified by Kumar and Roy, actors who exude Schwarzenegger/Stallone levels of charm. The extent of Thakur's wickedness is sometimes unbelievable, as when he gives a loaded gun to a minor to quiet him down,...

BollySpice Review: Sunidhi Chauhan creates history at Royal Albert Hall with a spellbinding concert!
Acclaimed Bollywood playback singer Sunidhi Chauhan proved on Friday night that she is indeed one of the best artists in the industry today. Her UK tour ended with a concert at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall where she belted out some of her greatest songs. Organised by TLC Events and Rock On Music, Sunidhi’s incredible energy was felt by the audience and they showed their love for her by cheering as loud as they possibly could.
The concert opened with the classic ‘Aisa Jadoo’ (Khakee) and Sunidhi followed it up with hit songs like ‘Halkat Jawaani’ (Heroine) ‘Ainvayi Ainvayi’ (Band Baaja Baaraat), ‘Bin Tere’ (I Hate Luv Storys), ‘Yaaram’ (Ek Thi Dayaan), ‘Ishq Sufiyana’ (The Dirty Picture) and ‘Bhaage Re Mann,’ (Chameli). One had to be present at the concert to see how charismatic Sunidhi sounded live. Though she is undoubtedly good on recording, she sounded ten times better live on stage.

Lucky Oye!’, ‘Udaan’], Pulkit Samrat [‘Bittoo Boss’] and Varun Sharma, amongst others.
Fukrey is a twisted coming-of-age drama and deliciously hilarious tale of four young, hapless ‘nobodies’ [‘Fukreys’], running after their individual desires, brought together by one dream. Their lives are turned upside down when they chase that elusive ‘get rich quick’ scheme. The film combines the crazy antics and madcap mishaps of four loser college friends, as their paths cross with an array of colourful characters, from a tough-talking Punjabi female don to a Jugaad Baaz college watchman. Mayhem ensues with predictably hilarious and unexpected results.
The cool soundtrack was composed by the great Ram Sampath, noted for his musical scores on such films as: Delhi Belly,...

We have been subjected to a long wait for Reema Kagti’s Talaash to release in cinemas and it will finally be doing so on 30 November 2012. This crime thriller stars not one, not two, but three superstars in the leading roles, which adds to the film’s appeal. They are Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Rani Mukerji. Hopefully this film will be another great entertainer for us all in a year when we have seen some pretty amazing films coming out of Bollywood. The music to Talaash has been composed by Ram Sampath, who has given us albums like Delhi Belly (2011) and Khakee (2004). The lyrics have been written by the legendary Javed Akhtar, who has recently provided lyrics for soundtracks like Don 2 (2011) and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011). So is the soundtrack to Talaash worth listening? Well let’s take a look and assess whether or not it is.

Just before the success of Bol Bachchan, detractors had already started pulling down Ajay Devgn from the top line of stars because his last two releases, Rascals and Tezz, had met with disastrous fates. This was quite similar to the treatment meted out to his Suhaag and Khakee co-star, Akshay Kumar, who was going through a very bad phase until Housefull 2 and Rowdy Rathore came along and propelled him in to the top slot. However, now there is a race to the top with both...
