We now know that the romantic series will burst back onto screens on May 7, giving fans a clear-cut idea of when the drama will continue for Morgan Kohan’s (When Hope Calls) Maggie Sullivan. Those eager for updates surrounding the continuation of the series, which is based on Robyn Carr’s beloved novel series, haven’t had too long to wait for the release reveal, as the Season 3 renewal came back in December. Variety has learned exclusively that a series version of Hiaasen’s novel “Skinny Dip” is currently in development at Max with Adam Horowitz & Edward Kitsis set to write and Lawrence attached as an executive producer.

The logline for the one-hour dramedy series describes it as “a screwball-romantic-comedy-triangle about murder, revenge, and greed in the Everglades.”

Lawrence, a longtime fan of Hiaasen, is currently the creator and showrunner on the series adaptation of “Bad Monkey” at Apple TV+. That show debuted at Apple in August 2024 and was renewed for a second season in December.

Horowitz and Kitsis will write and executive produce “Skinny Dip.” Lawrence, Jeff Ingold, and Liza Katzer will executive produce via Doozer. Warner Bros. Television, where Doozer is under an overall deal, is the studio.

A series adaptation of “Crazy Rich Asians” is in development at Max. Adele Lim, who co-wrote the 2018 film, has been set as showrunner and executive producer, while director Jon M. Chu will also return to executive produce.

Like the film, the TV project is based on Kevin Kwan’s book series of the same name. “Crazy Rich Asians” was published in 2013, followed by “China Rich Girlfriend” in 2015 and “Rich People Problems” in 2017. Kwan executive produced Lim and Chu’s 2018 film and will also executive produce the Max series, for which Warner Bros TV is the studio.

It is not yet known whether the series will feature returning cast members from the film.

Like with any other job in the world, it's not unusual for television stars to move on and see if the grass is greener somewhere else. However, there are controversial actor exits that single handedly ruined popular TV shows and had everyone -- fans and network executives included -- freaking out about how they could recover from such massive blows. Both Padalecki and Ackles, who played Sam and Dean Winchester, respectively, were young when the show started. The CW's longest-running series, Supernatural, ended almost five years ago, which means it will be the next one hitting the road. Supernatural has been on Netflix for so long that it's hard to imagine it anywhere else, but the monster hunters will be leaving the streamer sooner than audiences realize. The fantasy series about the apocalypse-thwarting brothers who would do anything for each other is set to depart from Netflix in 2025.

While things could always change and nothing is written in stone just yet, Supernatural wouldn't be the first of The CW's titles to leave Netflix. In recent years, several of the network's shows have been removed from the Netflix library, like The Vampire Diaries, Jane the Virgin, and iZombie. According to a new report, a sequel to the beloved show is in development at Netflix over a decade after the original came to a close in 2012. While original cast members are involved, creator Mark Schwahn, who was accused of sexual abuse in 2017, is not working on the project.

The new series is expected to pick up 20 years later and center on two of the original characters, who are confirmed to return. They will deal with “love, insecurities and grief” while raising their now-teenaged children.

With Suits LA premiering on NBC next month, the promotional train is leaving the station, and the first footage was unveiled over the weekend.
