If you want to watch a Gen-Xer get wistful, just ask them about MTV in the 1980s and '90s. MTV wasn't just an endless repository for music videos and short films (which would have made the network significant on its own); it also dictated a great deal of the generation's cultural attitudes. There was a punkish, puckish outlook in the '80s as punk, New Wave, and Hip-Hop all rose to the fore, gleefully tearing down old music traditions and setting up something that could be intense, playful, or sometimes just plain silly. The 1990s adopted a great deal of angst, as the disaffection grunge generation and poetic alternative rock came into prominence. In 1994, it wouldn't be strange to see a Hip-Hop music video, a suicidally dark industrial music video, a tender ballad, a heavy metal music video, Nirvana, and a weird novelty act like Green Jellÿ all in a row.

Set photos have already revealed that Annie Parisse will appear in an undisclosed role (all we know is that her character is detained by Kingpin's anti-vigilante task force), and Deadline is reporting that Lily Taylor will be joining her.
We don't have a name for Taylor's character just yet, but she is believed to be playing "a political foe for Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk." As previously reported, Matthew Lillard is also on board.
Two episodes of Born Again aired this week, and the second saw Matt Murdock (finally) suit up as Daredevil again to track down and take out the serial killer known as Muse.

Cameras have been rolling on the second seasoon of Marvel's Darededvil: Born Again for a few weeks at this stage, and while we haven't seen anything too spoiler-y so far, the set photos being shared online are starting to get a little more revealing.
There will be spoilers from this point on.
These latest set snaps reveal that Annie Parisse has joined the cast for season 2, and it looks like her character is going to find herself on Mayor Wilson Fisk's bad side.
Though we have no idea if Parisse will play an established Marvel Comics character, these photos show her being detained by the Kingpin's anti-vigilante task force (The Avtf). A previous rumor claimed that season 2 of Born Again will focus on the Man Without Fear assembling his own team to combat Kingpin's forces, so Parisse might well be playing a member of Murdock's new crew.

Jane Fonda may be 87, but she’s not about to slow down any time soon.
The two-time Oscar winner, who received the Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award at the 2025 SAG Awards, said she saw the honor and the enthusiastic reception she received from the Hollywood stars in the audience, who gave her a standing ovation, as more of a “go-girl kick-ass” form of encouragement instead of something being given to someone toward the end of their life.
“Which is good because I’m not done,” Fonda said.
During her speech, Fonda looked back on her “really weird” acting career — including roles in Klute, Coming Home, Barbarella, 9 to 5, Grace and Frankie, Monster in Law, The Newsroom, 80 for Brady and Book Club and its sequel — and expressed support for the opportunities given to her onscreen.

Jane Fonda is urging Hollywood to confront these fraught times with empathy.
“What we, actors, create is empathy. Our job is to understand another human being so profoundly that we can touch their souls,” said Fonda, who was honored on Sunday night with SAG’s life achievement award. “And make no mistake, empathy is not weak or woke. By the way, woke just means you give a damn about other people.”
During her lively speech, Fonda made oblique references to the political environment and the Trump administration’s drive to cut federal jobs. “A whole lot of people are going to be really hurt by what is happening,” she said. “Even if they’re of a different political persuasion, we need to not judge but listen from our hearts.”
Fonda also spoke to the power of unions — like SAG-AFTRA — to protect people during unsettling moments in history. “I’m a big believer in unions.

Monster-in-Law, Jennifer Lopez and Jane Fonda's rom-com from 2005, is a streaming hit on Hulu, where it currently sits at number five on the streamer. The film follows Charlie (Lopez) who falls for a doctor named Kevin (Michael Vartan). After a period of dating, the couple become engaged, but that's when things take a turn for the worst. Kevin's mother, Viola (Fonda), will stop at nothing to do whatever she can to break the relationship up before they get married.
The film was a box office hit when it debuted on May 13, 2005, making over $155 million at the worldwide box office on a production budget of only $43 million. Monster-in-Law was also good counter-programming to Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, which opened later that month. Two pioneering women producers received posthumous recognition at the Producers Guild of America awards, with Hollywood stars Jane Fonda and Kate Hudson celebrating their profound impact on the film industry.
Paula Weinstein and Lynda Obst were honored for their groundbreaking work in empowering women in entertainment. Fonda, who worked closely with Weinstein, shared powerful insights into the producer’s transformative career.
Fonda recalled Weinstein’s critical role in saving the film “Monster-in-Law” after a difficult test screening. “Paula totally saved it by getting Carrie Fisher to rewrite the ending,” Fonda said. Her ability to solve creative challenges became a hallmark of her professional approach.
The most touching moment came when Fonda described Weinstein’s legacy of mentorship. At Weinstein’s memorial service, nearly the entire theater stood to acknowledge her impact. “By the end, most of the theater was standing on the stage,” Fonda explained. “That was Paula, one of a kind,...

Jane Fonda and Kate Hudson presented the Producers Guild of America Trailblazer Awards to posthumous recipients Paula Weinstein and Lynda Obst. Fonda worked with Weinstein on the films 9 to 5 and Monster-in-Law and the TV series Grace and Frankie. Having made her first film in 1958, Fonda said it was lonely until women made headways in the ‘70s through the feminist movement and in Hollywood.
For Monster-in-Law, Fonda’s first film after 15 years, Fonda remembered Weinstein saving the film after a poor test screening.
“Paula totally saved it by geting Carrie Fisher to rewrite the ending and hiring Elaine Stritch to play my mother,” Fonda said. “Paula knew funny.”
Fonda said Weinstein’s legacy beyond her films would be the hundreds of women she mentored, as evidenced by Weinstein’s memorial after she died March 25.
“We asked anybody who was mentored by Paula to come stand with us on stage,” Fonda said.

New fan-made posters for Monster-in-Law 2, featuring Jennifer Lopez & Michael Vartan, have some wondering whether a sequel could be possible.
Released in 2005, Monster-in-Law features Lopez (Charlie) and Vartan (Kevin) as a newly engaged couple who plan their wedding while fending off Jane Fonda's Viola, Kevin's mother. The affair turns into an all-out war between Charlie and Viola as Kevin's mother hopes to remain the biggest part of his life.
Against stiff competition in theaters theaters in Star Wars: Episode III and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (likely to be revisited in Max's new Harry Potter series), Monster-in-Law performed admirably. It grossed over $150 million globally (ranking in the top 25 films of 2005), although it only has a 19% Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes.

As January wraps up, Hulu is keeping the momentum going with an impressive lineup of new titles next month. Whether you’re into movies, TV shows, or both, there’s plenty to keep you entertained throughout February.
Hulu is starting strong with over 60 new titles arriving on February 1 alone. Some standout additions include Kill Bill Vol. 1 and Kill Bill Vol. 2, as well as all four seasons of the classic ’90s drama New York Undercover.
Reality TV fans will also have something to look forward to with the season six premiere of The Kardashians.
But as exciting as the new arrivals are, there’s always the bittersweet reality that some beloved titles are leaving. In February, Hulu will only be removing movies, so TV lovers can breathe easy. However, the list of departing films includes some good titles, like Titane (2021) and Spencer (2021), which earned Kristen Stewart an Oscar nomination.

Say goodbye to those New Year greetings and memes, because February is almost here. Time to really sink our teeth into 2025 and how it’ll look, and of course that means beefing up your watchlist. Along with ongoing episodes of “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man,” Disney+ will debut all of “Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur” Season 2 and plenty of other great titles for young viewers. “The Lion King at the Hollywood Bowl” special will recapture the magic of a live performance, and “Harlem Ice” follows a girls’ figure skating team through their competitive season.

With a career spanning over two decades across the music and entertainment industry, Jennifer Lopez has been a literal legend in Hollywood. Getting her break in 1991 with In Living Color as a dancer and then moving on to become a backup dancer for Janet Jackson, Lopez had garnered enough attention and, dare we say, money throughout her envious career.

While Jennifer Lopez's Netflix films might not be well received critically, her latest release, Atlas, has an abysmal score on Rotten Tomatoes, there's no denying she's been a powerful draw on the streaming platform. 2023's The Mother was better received, and it was also another Lopez-led hit for Netflix. Due to the success of those two movies, Netflix appears to be going all in on the actress after securing the rights to the romantic comedy Office Romance starring Lopez and Ted Lasso star Brett Goldstein.
According to Deadline, Netflix won the rights to the film in a bidding war with other studios. The movie's script was co-written by Goldstein and Joe Kelly. The bet on Lopez has been a lucrative one for Netflix, as her films are among the most watched on the entire platform. Even if they don't hold good audience or critic scores, it hasn't stopped people from watching them.

The 86-year-old Oscar winner shared that she was the only white woman in her block for the night, and that no one she met cared who she was — except when it came to her relationship with Jennifer Lopez.
“They could’ve cared less who I was. They had far more important things to think about and none of them had seen any of my movies,” Fonda began. “Jennifer Lopez, Yeah. They had seen ‘Monster-in-Law.’ I pulled that card and they were mildly impressed, but not really. They went right back and talked about what they were dealing with, which was survival issues. Jennifer Lopez’s recent films in her career have failed to impress fans, with many complaining about the mediocrity of the films she is participating in. Although her performances in her recent films Shotgun Wedding, and The Mother were praised, the films were considered cliche and derivative. Her latest film Atlas may be the weakest film in recent years.

Jennifer Lopez suffers one of the lowest ratings on Rotten Tomatoes with Atlas. Rotten Tomatoes gives Atlas an 8% rating, marking one of Lopez's lowest scores. Despite poor reviews, Atlas expected to perform well on Netflix.
It could be argued that Jennifer Lopez is not having a good week with the constant media speculation that her marriage with actor Ben Affleck is on the rocks. In the midst of this, the actress has been out promoting the sci-fi Netflix action film Atlas, which is a bit of a departure for the rom-com queen. What could help some of the media uproar over her marriage would be the release of a good film, but if the current Rotten Tomatoes score for Atlas is any indication, Lopez may have to look to the next project.
According to Rotten Tomatoes, Atlas has a current rotten rating of 8% on the aggregator site with 25 reviews counted so far.

Jennifer Lopez's life and career have taken the world on an unforgettable roller-coaster ride. We've witnessed the ups, downs, and unexpected twists in between. She may not always be a favorite among critics, but Lopez has continued to produce films through her company Nuyorican Productions, elevating herself to celeb royalty. As she juggles the many crowns she wears, one that deserves the spotlight is her role in essentially being our first Latina rom-com queen.
Sure, some of her earlier films, like 2002's "Maid in Manhattan," were criticized for perpetuating Latina stereotypes. But despite the naysayers, Lopez has never given up her spot as a rom-com star. The 2005 romantic comedy "Monster-in-Law," which she stars in alongside Jane Fonda, followed those less desirable films and became one of her highest-grossing films to date.

On the movie screen, Jennifer Lopez is known for being a romantic comedy queen in films like "Maid in Manhattan," "Monster-in-Law," and "Marry Me." However, on Netflix, she appears to be pursuing a wholly different crown and going after action movie and genre glory. Sure, Lopez has made her share of genre thrillers, especially early in her career: "Money Train," "Anaconda," "U Turn," and "Out of Sight," most notably. Yet it's her turn in 2023's "The Mother" that marked her debut as a fully-fledged action star and now she's following that up with a lead performance in a big-budget sci-fi shoot 'em up, if the new trailer for Netflix's "Atlas" is any indication.
As a co-producer as well as star of "Atlas," Lopez has put together a pretty promising team to bring her next Netflix-distributed action venture to life. Alongside co-stars Simu Liu, Sterling K. Brown, and Mark Strong, the...

There’s a moment in Jennifer Lopez’s latest documentary The Greatest Love Story Never Told, directed by Jason Bergh, where she gets to the heart of why she’s pursuing a multi-format rollout of her ninth album This Is Me … Now. “It’s not like anybody was clamoring for the next JLo record,” she says with a self-aware laugh in an interview scene. “There’s some people around me who are like, ‘This is stupid. She doesn’t need to do this. Why is she doing this?’ And they’re right.

With her ninth album “This Is Me…Now,” Jennifer Lopez promised to be more honest and vulnerable than ever before — a bookend to 2002’s “This Is Me…Then” in which she would “tell her side” of the romances that for decades have been one-dimensionally splashed across the pages of tabloids worldwide. Even as a lifelong fan, I was skeptical just how far back she’d draw the curtain given the meticulous control she’s exerted over her career.
Between the record and “This Is Me…Now: A Love Story,” the hourlong not-a-film-but-not-a-music-video accompaniment released concurrently with it, Lopez conveyed pop emotionality more effectively than true intimacy. But “The Greatest Love Story Never Told,” the third part of her album-cycle media offensive, delivers precisely the revelatory perspective that its counterparts lack. Directed by Jason Bergh, the documentary explores the complicated production of “A Love Story,” in the process exposing a global superstar’s ambitions,...

If you like heaping portions of J. Lo, 2024 is your year. And even if you don’t, you can’t help but appreciate what Jennifer Lopez is attempting to do with her ambitious three-part multimedia project that explores the singer-actor's life as a creator, dreamer, hopeless romantic, and bona fide believer in serendipitous “signs” from the universe.
For starters, Lopez has doled out $20 million from her own cache to produce her upcoming, deeply personal documentary, The Greatest Love Story Never Told. The other creative arm of her endeavors is currently sitting atop Prime Video’s best new streaming releases, This Is Me… Now: A Love Story. It’s a daring, visually sumptuous short movie featuring music, dance, folklore, and spirituality, all existing in a larger story about love, hope, and self-esteem. The fact that the endeavor is named after Lopez’s upcoming album and summer tour should generate sales all around,...

This is Me…Now: A Love Story is a film starring Jennifer Lopez and directed by Dave Meyers.
I must confess, at first I had no desire to watch this film, but as a professional, I felt obligated. However, I must also confess that we were pleasantly surprised by this original musical, written and starring Jennifer Lopez, which revolves around her own life and love affairs, as one may expect.
However, “This is Me…Now: A Love Story” is not just about the romances known from magazines and television. It is a futuristic video clip with several musical numbers, each with high quality in terms of photography and set design. Although it may seem self-centered and geared towards her fans, I must admit that “This is Me…Now: A Love Story” is of great quality and production.

Read more about Jane Fonda’s concerns…
“I want you to know that I don’t entirely know why, but I feel invested in you and Ben, and I really want this to work,” Jane explained to JLo, via Variety. “However, this is my concern. Like, it feels too much like you’re trying to prove something instead of just living it. You know, every other photograph is the two of you kissing and the two of you hugging.

A few months after Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck were married in 2022, Lopez got a call from Jane Fonda. The two had been friends since 2005’s “Monster-in-Law,” and it was Fonda who had introduced J. Lo when she received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Fonda was reaching out because Lopez had asked her to appear in a yet-undefined film (with music) that would examine Lopez’s romantic failures in some kind of meta way. Lopez wanted Fonda to play a member of her Zodiac love council. (More on that later.)
Fonda had her doubts. So before deciding, she talked to Benny Medina, Lopez’s longtime manager, expressing skepticism about any project that seemed to excessively celebrate the Affleck-Lopez reunification. Medina relayed to Lopez Fonda’s thoughts: “I believe that everyone in the entire world is pulling for this relationship and this love. And the idea of how...
