It is perhaps a bug of mine as a critic that I always try to look at a film from a holistic approach, rather than be buoyed by the central moments that serve to either encapsulate the entire emotionality of a film or serve as a cornerstone of that film’s existence. It definitely invites my prying eyes to dissect a film far more ruthlessly than perhaps required.
But perhaps ruthlessness itself stems from expectations. Conversational films within a set time frame, allowing one to delve deeply into the complicated dynamics of Indian parents and their children, always provide catnip for viewers. It could lack novelty, but there is always a certain kernel of relatability. And the tonality of the film could either play on that relatability in broad strokes or in subtlety.

Directors’ guild the Srf issued a statement saying “the far right is attacking culture”.
France’s directors’ guild, the Srf, and the producers guilds Spi and Upc, have all come out in support of Mehdi Fikri’s family drama After The Fire, about a woman on a quest for justice when her brother dies in police custody, blaming the film’s poor box office and scathing reviews on a far-right campaign they say is putting free speech at risk.
Fikri’s first feature was released in France on November 15 by Bac Films after a world premiere in Toronto’s Discovery section.

The third season of Ted Lasso concludes with a bittersweet ending as the main characters move on to new chapters. "Father and Son" by Yusuf/Cat Stevens is the perfect song to bid farewell to Ted Lasso, reflecting the show's exploration of familial relationships and the pursuit of personal growth. The song choice, "Father and Son," brings a sense of finality and thematically appropriate closure to the series.
The third season of Ted Lasso offers a bittersweet ending as most of the main characters move on to other things, marking the end of an era. While the show features a sort of epilogue illustrating the next chapters of these characters' lives, it plays a beautiful song that got most people in the audience a little teary-eyed.

The Ted Lasso season 3 finale featured a perfect and poignant needle drop with Cat Stevens’ “Father and Son” to end Ted’s story and time with AFC Richmond. The Ted Lasso season 3 ending could very well be the ending of the series entirely, with Jason Sudeikis saying that the story they intended to tell was always meant to be only three seasons long. While this is sad news for viewers of the Apple TV+ hit comedy, Ted’s ending was made all the more meaningful through the usage of Cat Stevens’ popular 1970 track, “Father and Son,” as the very last song in Ted Lasso season 3.
The Ted Lasso season 3 finale centered around AFC Richmond’s final game against West Ham United in hopes of claiming the Premier League title before Ted left the team to return home to Kansas. This was a hard decision that clearly weighed heavily on Ted...

This post contains spoilers for the "Ted Lasso" season 3 finale.
Throughout the three season run of "Ted Lasso," the incredibly popular series ended up hitting on a lot of different levels. Starting out as a comedy first and a rousing sports drama second, the show touched on unexpected issues about anxiety, acceptance, and inequality. The emotional stakes on and off the field kept getting higher and higher, to the point where a lot of season 3 was overshadowed by an unnecessary rivalry between the fictional AFC Richmond team and Manchester City that culminated in an unconvincing arc for Nate, who switched sides, became evil, and then received a hollow redemption.
Moving from a straight fish-out-of-water comedy in season 1 to an effective dramedy in season 2, the final season of "Ted Lasso" was on shaky ground from the start, with too much attention paid to winning the Premiere League instead of staying true...

At his audition, he wowed judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan with his moving performance of James Blunt's "Monsters," which he dedicated to his late father. American Idol season 21 Top 3 finalist Iam Tongi has been the front-runner to win the competition since his audition, and this will most likely happen. Iam, an 18-year-old originally from Kahuku, Hawaii, graduated from high school this week, and he's captivated the judges, Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan. “American Idol” fans were outraged Sunday night when Wé Ani was eliminated after two powerhouse performances on “Disney Night.” The 24-year old performer from New York received high praise from judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie after belting out “Into the Unknown” from “Frozen II” and “The Climb” from “Hannah Montana: The Movie.” But it wasn’t enough to rally the votes, and despite fans voting her the best of the night in our recent poll, she was sent packing alongside Mississippi’s Zachariah Smith. American Idol season 21's Top 3 has been determined, and the extraordinarily talented singers, Iam Tongi, Megan Danielle, and Colin Stough, have made it to the finale after performing on Disney Night. After being judged by Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan, and Katy Perry, who delighted everyone by dressing as Elastigirl, Aka Mrs. Incredible, from The Incredibles, the Top 5 finalists were narrowed down to three by America's vote. They had been mentored by actress and singer Sofia Carson, who is known for her role as Evie, the daughter of the Evil Queen, in Descendants. The Top 5 each sang two Disney songs.
American Idol season 21 Top 5 finalists, Wé Ani and Zachariah Smith, were eliminated from the competition. Wé sang "Into the Unknown" from Frozen II and "The Climb" from Hannah Montana: The Movie. Zachariah performed "I Just Can't Wait to be King" from The Lion King and "Life is a Highway" from Cars.

The second season premiere of "Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury" followed the action-packed first season finale by returning to the status quo at Asticassia School of Technology. The next episode blew it up, killing characters and breaking Asticassia beyond repair. Now in this third episode, we leave Asticassia for the most part. Nika and Miorine appear, Shaddiq chats with his (kidnapped) guardian, but the heroine Suletta is totally absent. It's another big twist in a season that's leaned on shock and awe, catching the viewer's attention with the right hand to hide what's in the left. These sorts of magicians' tricks only work so long as the viewer is willing to suspend their sense of disbelief. Thankfully "The Witch From Mercury" is generous. The staff is very good at conditioning the audience, predicting what they want and then giving it to them when they least expect it or most dread it.

Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 2 sits in a slightly odd position – narratively, chronologically, critically, geographically...
Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 2 was released about halfway through Phase 3 of the McU, in between Doctor Strange and Spider-Man: Homecoming. However, if you’ve paid close attention to the movie, you’ll know that it sits much earlier in the timeline.
Guardians 2 takes place only a couple of months after Guardians 1, while Baby Groot is still a baby, only 34 years after Peter’s parents met. If you’re watching the McU movies in internal chronological order, Guardians 2 comes immediately after Guardians 1 and before Avengers: Age Of Ultron.

Wellspring books rights to 'Strayed'
NEW YORK -- Indie banner Wellspring has acquired all U.S. rights to French writer-helmer Andre Techine's latest effort, Strayed, starring Emmanuelle Beart. Based on Gilles Perrault's best-selling novel, the film premiered this year in Cannes. Wellspring is eyeing an August release for the film, a period piece that follows a young widowed schoolteacher who flees the German occupation of Paris with her children. During their escape, the family meets a charismatic teenager who helps them survive in the wilderness. Techine's credits include the Catherine Deneuve starrer My Favorite Season and Alice and Martin, starring Juliette Binoche. Strayed is a French-British co-production, which was sold though the Wild Bunch sales banner. Wellspring acquisitions head Marie Therese Guirgis brokered the pact with Wild Bunch's Carole Baraton. Past and upcoming theatrical releases for Wellspring include Alexander Sokurov's Father and Son, Jafar Panahi's Crimson Gold and Girlhood, by documentary filmmaker Liz Garbus.
