Vampironica is a new Archie Horror series launching in March from Greg and Megan Smallwood that we first heard about back in 2015 at the Sdcc, and knowing what a big fan base the series has – plus the fact that American Werewolf in London and Fright Night were big influences on the writers, we […]

When Frank Castle was first introduced to Marvel and Netflix’s small-screen universe via Daredevil season 2, he was very much angled as the vengeful antithesis of Matt Murdock – “you hit ’em and they get back up; I hit ’em and they stay down!” But for The Punisher spinoff series, showrunner Steve Lightfoot plans to present the “human side” of Jon Bernthal’s mercenary across its 13-episode arc.
Based on what we’ve seen so far of the upcoming Netflix show, it’ll flit between the present and Frank’s harrowing past to showcase how his days spent serving in the Us Marines shaped and molded him into the one-man-army that hones in on the crooks and thieves populating Hell’s Kitchen. Think of him as the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen without the training wheels – without the moral compass and Murdock’s ability (weakness?) to lend everyone a second chance.

It’s apt that Stephen King makes appearances in The Simpsons because when it comes to adaptations of his work, you’d swear some of them were dreamed up by the show’s writers.
Sometimes They Come Back…Again, starring Hilary Swank as a damsel in distress prone to and-then-i-woke-up-and-it-had-all-been-a-dream moments, was bad enough, but anyone seeking proof of how desperate producers are to profit from the King brand need look no further than Carrie The Musical.
Transferred to Broadway at a cost of $8 million (more than Brian De Palma’s 1976 film cost to make), the production was compared to the Hindenburg disaster by critic Frank Rich, who lambasted its “faceless bubble-gum music” and “uninhibited tastelessness.” He had a point. Act II opened with Out For Blood (which was presumably performed ‘unplugged’), a song and dance number about the slaughter of a pig.
The show opened on May 12, 1988, to widespread derision,...

What I like about Sharknado, is that it knows what it is. It doesn’t pretend to be some high-production piece of art. It knows that it is ridiculous, and it gives fans of the series what they’ve come to expect. I have seen a lot of SyFy movies in my day, and not all of them are that self-aware. Some of them think they are legitimately good movies, which makes them even worse to those of us that are watching. Sharknado takes itself as lightly as possible, and the sequel did so as well. Cinedigm has announced the Blu-ray (And DVD) release of the second film. You can pre-order the disc now, and expect delivery on the 7th of October. Is Katherine finally being ejected from Elena’s body for good? Plus, get more scoop from the March 6 episode!
Only a select few know that “Elena” (Nina Dobrev) is actually Katherine, but that number is about to grow exponentially. The March 6 episode of The Vampire Diaries finds Stefan (Paul Wesley), Caroline (Candice Accola) and Matt (Zach Roerig) conjuring a “desperate new plan to save Elena’s life,” according to the description of the episode, titled “Gone Girl.”
My guess is that Matt, having recently discovered the truth about Elena’s possession, will be the one to clue in Caroline and Stefan. I’m also guessing the revelation will hit Stefan pretty hard, considering he totally hooks up with Elena/Katherine on the Feb. 27 episode!

Oliver is continuing to rough-up low-lifes in his search for the man in the mask. He’s brought on Felicity to help, because her magic computer mojo knows no bounds. She can even run a lie detector over a cell phone. Yep, there’s an app for that.
Alas, even Felicity’s supernatural tech-fu cannot squeeze blood from a stone. That is, they can’t actually get the info they are seeking since no one they’re asking knows anything. But hey, it’s an excuse to terrify the criminal element, and we know how that brings Oliver to his happy place.

Fans of Don “The Dragon” Wilson understand the fact that the majority of the man’s work is, shall we say, somewhat lacking, to say the least. There are very few titles in Wilson’s storied filmography that are genuinely entertaining. “Out for Blood” — a title that probably should have gone to Steven Seagal — and “Moving Target” are, for me, the cream of his cinematic crop, though I think it can be argued that director Francis Megahy’s 1994 endeavor “Red Sun Rising” is his best. Granted, it’s still a low-budget martial arts flick with all of the trappings, but it showcases a strong performance from Wilson and a plethora of enjoyable fight sequences. The film tells the story of a Japanese cop who travels to the United States to find the bastard responsible for murdering his partner. Along the way, he gets into the middle of a gang war...

Let the blood begin to flow. No not between Raichel and Melissa — we’ll deal with their battle later. I’m talking about National Blood Donor month. We here at The Bachelor are very happy to be partnering up with the American Red Cross to shine an entertaining light on a very serious topic. Last Saturday, Brad, a host of former contestants, and myself were extremely proud to host a blood drive here in L.A. This is the first of several we’re going to host across the country. For more info on these blood drives and how you can help,...

Ok, it’s official: Chelsea Handler has declared War on Angelina Jolie. This time she’s attacked her in an interview with Glamour, saying of Angelina, “Yeah, I’m not a fan. Instead of backing off and letting this week’s curse-out controversy blow over, Chelsea is charging Full Steam Ahead with her Angelina attacks! She’s already said she doesn’t regret calling Angelina a “home-wrecker” and a “f-ing c***” and now This. One thing is clear: Chelsea is Out For Blood.

The revamp is set for the Lucille Lortel Theatre for 2011-2012, and director Stafford Arima (Ragtime and Altar Boyz) is promising new songs and material. But this McC Theater announcement that it plans to retool and relaunch the musical Carrie makes me think there is still a chance for remakes of Ishtar and Plan 9 From Outer Space. Because Carrie was that big a flop, historic, losing $8 million. As a cub reporter at New York Newsday assigned to cover Broadway opening nights, I went to the 1988 opening of Carrie expecting big things because the Stephen King book is such a chilling coming of age tale and the movie wasn't bad, either. The musical started out Ok and, at intermission, I chatted up King, who was encouraged. But then we returned to our seats, the curtain rose, and the bad kids launched into Out For Blood. Meant to be a showstopper,...

Over the next couple days we're gonna be taking a look at each of the four classes in "Borderlands." Basically I'll be giving you the rundown on each of the class strengths and weaknesses, as well as their full skill trees. First up, we have The Hunter:
Hunter Basics
The Hunter is your typical range-focused character. His specialties are Sniper Rifles and Pistols, with many of his skills increasing accuracy and damage with those weapons. His special ability calls out a killer bird that can swoop down and attack nearby foes. One of the skill tree branches for the Hunter, Rogue, increases the effectiveness of your bird, dealing more damage and even stealing items away from enemies.
Based on my experience with the Hunter, he's an ideal choice if you're not the run-and-gun type. A little tough to solo with, but paired with one of the other classes in co-op he can be absolutely devastating.

Not sure what the publicity team behind the new Friday the 13th has against their homegrown press, but they've decided to release some brand-new stills to the German-language site DVD-Forum. Either that, or DVD-Forum got their hands on the stills through some other means. My German isn't good enough anymore to figure out exactly what's going on. Anyway, you can check out the smaller versions of two of the action-packed stills below, or head over to DVD-Forum for the larger versions and the third photo. Given how little we've seen of this film so far, this is showing a whole lot-- though what it's showing is pretty much what you would expect, with the killing and the attacking and all. Friday the 13th comes out Friday, February 13.
