Why Did Trisha Krishnan Did Not Want To Take Up Acting? (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Trisha Krishnan continues to bag many film offers even in her 40s. Although she has been working in the film industry for 20 years, the interesting thing is that Trisha never wanted to be an actress. In her initial days, Trisha preferred modeling over acting.
Trisha started participating in beauty pageants while she was studying in Class 12. She also began receiving some modeling opportunities. At that time, she had an interview with actor Yugi Sethu and talked about her ambitions during the show.
Yugi asked Trisha why she preferred modeling over acting. He wondered whether it was her choice or her parents had encouraged her to pursue it. Trisha Krishnan surprisingly answered that she enjoyed modeling more than acting. She said, “I gave modeling a try. This was about seven months back, and I really enjoyed it.

KollywoodVetrimaaran’s critically acclaimed film Visaranai (2015) was probably the first Tamil film to look at custodial violence in unflinching detail, a change from narratives that routinely glorified it.In Vetrimaaran’s hard-hitting film Viduthalai Part 1, released on March 31, a senior police officer calmly asks for cutting pliers. He then proceeds to pull out the nails of the Adivasi man in his custody, asking him for information that the latter says he doesn’t have. When he doesn’t get what he wants, the officer asks for the man’s daughter-in-law to be brought into the room and stripped. Even as the audience finds it difficult to process the extensive scenes of custodial torture in Viduthalai, the state of Tamil Nadu is witnessing a real life case that mirrors the brutality that was shown on screen. Just a few days before Viduthalai came out, three men alleged on video that...

KollywoodVikram's chemistry with Trisha in the first film was sorely missed by fans who still remember Bhuvana.Sowmya RajendranSaamy Square, which released last Friday, was mostly panned by critics. From the over-the-top characters to the gravity-defying action sequences and grating comedy, the sequel has been a disappointment. However, what fans of the first film also sorely missed was Trisha. In Saamy, Trisha played Bhuvana, a college-going Brahmin woman with whom Aarusamy (Vikram) falls in love. While the film, like its sequel, exoticized the Brahmin dialect and culture without delving into caste oppression much, the rapport between Bhuvana and Aarusamy was loved by the audience. Trisha's nickname 'Molagapodi' was a hit with fans. While Vikram was the hero of the film, the romance between the lead pair could not have worked so well with the audience if not for Trisha's performance, too. In Saamy Square, critics and fans alike have pointed...

KollywoodMeera Mithun is also part of the cast in this yet-untitled film.Digital NativeIn June, it was reported that Vikram will soon join hands with director Rajesh M Selva in Kamal Haasan’s production for a yet-untitled project. In January earlier this year, a Times of India report said that the film will be a remake of a French flick and this still remains unconfirmed. On Thursday, the film was launched in Chennai and the team began filming. Having recently wrapped up his portion for Gautham Menon’s Dhruva Natchathiram, Vikram is expected to start shooting full-fledged from next week. This yet-untitled film is expected to be wrapped up by October or November, enabling Vikram to start working on his upcoming magnum opus Mahaveer Karna. In a statement, it was announced that the project happens to be the 45th production of RaajKamal Films International. Apparently, Vikram won’t have a...

KollywoodThe sequel is reportedly set 29 years later.Digital NativeDigital NativeVikram's Saamy 2, a sequel to his 2004 blockbuster Saamy, has been on the floors for the last few months. The project reunites Vikram with director Hari after a long hiatus. Vikram returns as the foul-mouthed cop Aarusaamy in the sequel, which also features Keerthy Suresh in the leading role. Apparently, the principal shooting began from the last week of January 2018 and the makers so far have shot the film across various locations such as Delhi, Noida, Agra, Jaipur, Nainital and Kathmandu among other places. According to a reliable source, 80 percent of the project has been wrapped up and the team is waiting for the strike to get over so that they can finish the remainder portion. There is a song remaining to be shot for which Vikram and Keerthy Suresh will fly abroad after the Kollywood strike. The source also added that the entire project will be wrapped up by April. The team hopes to bring the film to cinema halls during the Ramzan festival. Recently, posters from the sets of Saamy Square leaked online and with it, the storyline as well. A glimpse at the posters revealed that the film will be a war between Aarusamy’s son, played by Vikram, and Perumal Pichai’s son Ravana Pichai, played by Bobby Simha. It may be mentioned here that in the prequel, Aarusamy brings down the corrupt Perumal Pichai played by veteran actor Kota Srinivasa Rao and it looks like the revenge drama continues between the sons of Aarusamy and Perumal Pichai. The sequel is set 29 years later and it is believed that Vikram might be essaying dual roles in it. The film has Bobby Simha playing the negative role. Devi Sri Prasad is composing music for this film. The chartbuster song ‘Tirunelveli Halwa’ from the first part is getting recreated for a song and fight sequence in the second part. The film originally starred Trisha, who played the heroine in the first part, in a crucial role. However, in October last year, she revealed that she is no longer part of the project and that she opted out due to creative differences. In a tweet, she confirmed her exit and wished the team good luck. Trisha’s exit came as a shocker to the team which had to reschedule dates for the shoot. Following Trisha’s exit, producer Shibu Thameens is said to have filed a complaint against her over non-cooperation with the Tamil Nadu Producers’ Council. Apparently, Thameens gave Trisha an ultimatum – either to be part of the film or compensate for the heavy losses incurred due to rescheduling of shooting dates. Trisha is yet to officially comment on the ongoing issue. However, not long ago, she slyly tweeted a picture which read – don’t care. She further wrote ‘yawn’. (Content provided by Digital Native)...

KollywoodTrisha has mostly featured in big budget mainstream films but she's also played some interesting roles that go against the grain.Tnm Staff Trisha (2).jpgActor Trisha, who came into the limelight after she won the Miss Chennai beauty pageant, had sworn at the time that she would never enter cinema. Cut to 2017 and Trisha has more than survived in an industry where heroines have a shelf life shorter than the average avocado. The star has acted with nearly all the bigwigs in the industry, save Rajinikanth. Trisha has always been a mainstream actor, featuring in mostly big budget films. Known to be nimble on her feet, she has given many memorable dance performances like Appadi Podu in her career. The actor has also been mired in controversy a few times, not in the least because of the unapologetic way in which she leads her life in a conservative state like Tamil Nadu. After having spent 15 years in Kollywood, Trisha, like her contemporary Nayanthara, is looking to do meatier roles that offer her more than a song and a dance. She recently walked out of Saamy 2 with Vikram, the sequel to the 2003 blockbuster, citing creative difference. It's rumoured that the actor was unhappy with the role given to her in the second film and had chosen to walk out of the big budget project rather than stick with it. Here's a look at some of the unconventional choices that Trisha has made in her career in Tamil films: Lesa Lesa: Early in her career, Trisha played the role of a woman who is in love with a death row convict and refuses to move on in life. The film had two heroes, Shaam and Madhavan, but the plot revolved around her character. Abhiyum Naanum: In this film which explored the relationship between a father and daughter, Trisha had ample scope to perform. She plays a young, assertive woman who falls in love with a Punjabi man and convinces her father (a hilarious Prakash Raj) that she knows what she's doing. Manmadhan Ambu: Trisha played an actor who breaks up with her fiance because he wants her to give up her career after marriage. Usually, Indian films have treated ambitious women with very little respect. Trisha's Ambu came as a surprise. Yennai Arindhal: Trisha had a very successful outing with Gautham Menon's Vinnaithaandi Varuvaya, in which she plays a Malayali woman from a conservative Christian family. In her second film with the director, she played a single mother to a young girl, a role which most mainstream heroines would be reluctant to touch. Thoongavanam: Trisha played an Intelligence Officer on a job all through the film. It's perhaps one of the rare times when a mainstream heroine in Tamil films has been shown completely in the context of her profession rather than family or love life. Kodi: Trisha played a villain who kills the hero in cold blood to fulfill her political ambitions. Although a female villain, Trisha's character in Kodi was mostly free of the misogynistic trappings that usually accompany such characters. The actor was willing to take the risk to play such a role despite knowing it could backfire badly in a state where heroes are deified. Trisha has an interesting line-up of upcoming films including Garjanai, the Tamil remake of Anushka Sharma's Nh 10, 1818, which is based on the Mumbai terror attacks and in which she's the central protagonist, and 96 with Vijay Sethupathi. She is also making her Malayalam debut with Nivin Pauly in Hey Jude. Enanble Notification: NoTnm Marquee: No...

Chiyaan Vikram has started shooting for Saamy sequel, being made after a decade since the release of the highly successful first part. The sequel, which reunites Vikram and director Hari, for strange reasons, has been titled Saamy Square and nobody quite knows the reason behind it. Maybe it’s the makers’ way of creating curiosity till the film comes out. However, it’s going to be challenging to create a recall value with this new title which has been received with mixed feelings. Meanwhile, the makers are hoping to bring out the film next year during summer.

Our leading men's leading ladies are becoming progressively misleading. Sanjay Dutt who turned 53 this month would be romancing the 24-year old Prachi Desai in his new cop film Thanedaar Returns. And to ensure that the age difference doesn't jar, the script is being modified to justify the gap of 29 years between the hero and heroine. The last time there was such a yawning gap between the lead pair was when Anil Kapoor played Kareena Kapoor's husband in Bewafaa. And there the age gap was justified by the fact that Kareena was Anil's second wife in the film. But here with no plausible justification for the age difference except for the fact that Prachi was the only viable choice with dates; the makers of the film have decided to rewrite the original script to explain the age difference. Says a source close to the project, "In the original Tamil film Saamy,...

Thanedaar Returns is Sanjay Dutt's third cop role in a year. After Ram Gopal Varma's Department and the forthcoming Zilla Ghaziabad, Dutt will again be shown as a cop.
But producer Aggarwal is unperturbed, "If you've seen the original film Saamy (2003 Tamil film directed by Hari starring Vikram and Trisha) you'd know this is a cop film unlike any other."
However, Vinod Bachchan the producer of Zilla Ghaziabad doesn't think so. In a panic mode on hearing about yet another cop film, Bachchan apparently got in touch with Sanjay Dutt requesting that his film be completed at the earliest.
Says a source close to Bachchan, "Dutt has finally agreed to give Bachchan the dates required to complete Zilla Ghaziabad. However, the extra action scenes that Dutt wanted to shoot to give the film an extra punch have been scrapped. Dutt has no time to shoot the extra action...

Actor Vikram’s combination with Gowtham Menon would surely result as the biggest showpiece. But till now, they haven’t worked together as the proper scripts and perfect roles couldn’t be crafted for him.
It’s also worth mentioning that Gowtham Menon wanted Vikram to don the lead character in ‘Kaakha Kaakha’ that was later shifted to the hands of Surya, out of Jyothika’s recommendation. On the pars, Vikram had no intentions of doing this film as he had previously acted in Hari’s ‘Saamy’ that had portrayed him as a police officer.
But now, the buzzes are that Gowtham Menon is looking out to direct various actors including Vijay and Vikram. Soon after Ajith Kumar’s 50th film, he’ll be holding discussions with these actors and make final decisions.
