There was a time when Joss Whedon was the king of cult TV, with a fandom behind him that was near-rabid in its appreciation and devotion. Nowhere was this more apparent than with the fate of his space-western series, Firefly. Having only run for a mere fourteen episodes before it was cancelled by Fox in the fall of 2002, the show was worshiped by Whedon fans, with a fanbase called “Browncoats” springing up around it in the wake of its cancellation. This new status was partly spurred on by the show’s release on DVD, with sales so robust a feature-film continuation called Serenity was greenlit, kicking off Whedon’s career as a film director, leading to his eventual hiring for The Avengers.
So, what was it about the show that made Whedon’s fans so passionate? To many, it was considered a logical successor to classic era Star Trek, with...

The 70s were a time when television would seem to try anything at least once. Science Fiction was one of the main genres where this was very true. Thanks to the success of series like Star Trek, and Lost in Space there was a deluge of, off beat and actually good genre TV (as we explored on last week’s Land of the Lost episode). Typically it was with some sort of toy tie-in or angle to get children to watch and/or buy something. And just wait until Star Wars happened.
But, the early 70s would find a new kind of hero to grab the hearts and minds of kids across the country and he’d bring with him some of the coolest toys around. Because, he was literally made up of metal and plastic himself.
The Six Million Dollar Man would jump into television history with a premise that was brilliant,...

Can we separate the artist from their work? That is a question that people have been asking for years. How can we ignore horrendous actions, alleged or otherwise from creators who’s work has changed so many lives for the better? Sadly this question with new looks behind curtain of beloved works that have revealed disturbing surprises. It sucks this is the case for a TV series that was part of the television renaissance era
I of course am talking about Joss Whedon and the Buffy The Vampire Slayer TV show. To deny how important this series was, is to deny that the sky is blue. It was one of the first shows that created a para-social relationship with fans. Many of which would alter their lives forever. Forming friendships, sparking a passion in film making, and even letting them accept who they truly are.

Legal dramas have long been a staple of television, from the slick courtroom theatrics of Law & Order to the cutthroat maneuvers on The Good Wife.
But before we had Jack McCoy or Alicia Florrick, there was The Defenders, a 1960s legal drama that broke new ground — and taboos.
Unlike its contemporaries, The Defenders wasn’t just about winning cases or dramatic courtroom moments. It was a show with a conscience, unafraid to tackle the controversial issues of its time.
E.G. Marshall (CBS/Screenshot)
Abortion, civil rights, war crimes — no topic was off-limits.
At a time when TV often shied away from controversy, The Defenders leaned in, proving that television could not only entertain but also challenge its audience.
Let’s examine how this quiet revolution unfolded and why The Defenders remains a landmark in TV history.

We had to say goodbye to plenty of characters in 2024.
Some of them we’ll miss terribly, while others we may not quite as much. The year saw plenty of characters depart series, some in thoughtful and meaningful ways, others with satisfying conclusions to their arcs, others tragically, and many downright puzzling.
We’ve compiled a list of characters who may officially be gone but far from forgotten. Check it out!
Grace Ryder – 9-1-1: Lone Star (Kevin Estrada/Fox)
Not only did 9-1-1 Lone Star fans have to reel from the news that the series’ fifth season would be its last one, but we also learned that Sierra McClain, who played beloved Grace Ryder, wouldn’t return for it.
It felt like an impossible feat to write out a character who was genuinely the heart of the series, and frankly, the final season has struggled with doing it convincingly.

There have always been novels and movies about magical schools or worlds that involved children. A few that come to mind are Alice in Wonderland, The Worst Witch, Harry Potter, The Neverending Story, and my first exposure to the fantasy genre, The Chronicles of Narnia. As children, we all wish we could travel to a magical world where we would be special. Everyone wants to be the chosen one who has a destiny to change the world. These movies, TV shows, and books have inspired many authors to follow in their footsteps. But even when these novels were released and became best sellers, adaptations were not very well executed. In fact, there were some that straight-up sucked. Being butchered by getting cut to pieces or so drastically changed that they barely resembled the source material. But every once in a while one of these adaptions would hit pay dirt.

We can all agree that Stephen King is one of the most prolific authors of the 21st century. His books have influenced countless authors and set the foundation for modern horror media. King is the only writer whose books have given me a feeling of dread when I’m just on the second page. He has written hit after hit, and his life is just as fascinating as any story he has ever written. Over the years many people have asked Stephen King which one of his novels was favorite. He has always said that it was “The Dead Zone”, which shouldn’t really shouldn’t be a surprise. Even though he was a successful author before “The Dead Zone” was published, it was his first massive hit. The book put him on the map and set him down the road to become the legend we know today.

Growing up during the PS2 era, you were likely familiar with one of these platformer franchises: Ratchet & Clank, Jak & Daxter, or Sly Cooper. All three are iconic 3D platformers developed during the 2000s.
One from developer Insomniac Games, widely known today for its work on Marvel’s Spider-Man and soon Marvel’s Wolverine. Another from the powerhouses at Naughty Dog, its early beginning with Crash Bandicoot before entangling itself with realistic franchises like Uncharted and The Last of Us.
Lastly, Sucker Punch Productions came out strong during the PS3 era with inFAMOUS and now Ghost of Tsushima for modern PlayStation consoles. While all three are beloved 3D platformers from the era, only Ratchet & Clank has seen love recently with Rift Apart in 2021.

It has become a hobby of mine to see the creativity some of these companies will go to make a buck. But imagine if we took this and applied it to a billion-dollar-making I.P., This is not something new; one of the most famous was the original Battle Star Galactica, which has been accused of being a cheap copy of Star Wars. Another more current example is the BBC America show called “Demons,” which is a blatant rip-off of Buffy. Yet one of the most memorable knockoffs is one that involved two giant companies getting into a fight like two-year-olds in the playground over a toy. I am talking about The X-Men….I mean…Mutant X. While it’s still eight months away from its theatrical release, Disney and Marvel have given us an early look at Captain America: Brave New World with a teaser trailer and poster promoting a fan-favourite character’s arrival. That character, of course, is Red Hulk, who, as most Marvel fans know, is actually Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross, played here by the great Harrison Ford (filling in for the late William Hurt).
In this outing, Ross has been elected president and is keen to bring the new Captain America, Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson, back into the government fold. However, it looks like their shaky alliance doesn’t last too long, with him foiling an attempt on the president’s life by his Falcon and the Winter Soldier ally Isaiah Bradley, played by Carl Lumbly (whose show – M.A.N.T.I.S we just did a Gone But Not Forgotten episode about).

I love The A-Team (which we also covered on an episode of Gone But Not Forgotten). I grew up watching the series and had the toys, the Mr. T Cereal, the whole bit. I wasn’t unlike many of my Gen X brothers and sisters in that regard. It was fun, insane, action-packed, and Murdock was my guy.
Over the last few decades, we’ve seen many of these 70s and 80s TV series be redone as feature films or new series for television. The Dukes of Hazzard, Starsky and Hutch, and the list goes on and on. Typically these films are done as just pure comedy. There are the two I just mentioned plus Land of the Lost…and in the case of these three they didn’t stick the landing.

Have you ever been given a gift and then seen it destroyed? For example, let’s say someone gave you a beautiful yacht. It looks amazing and has every amenity you could ever wish for. You take it out one day to sea, go home, and then when you come back it’s been painted green and had a creepy clown statue turned into the figurehead. When you ask why the person who gave you the yacht would do this to your beautiful boat, you’re told “Well I think it looks better this way”. Now imagine that’s a superhero TV show and that it was created by a pair of people who were behind two of the greatest comic book movies of all time.
So what was that TV show? Well, it was called M.A.N.T.I.S. and who were the two creators? Sam Raimi and Sam Hamm. Yes, the...

The 1990s were a great time for television sci-fi. It was the heyday of Star Trek, with The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine and Voyager all running in syndication. But, at the same time, another science fiction show, Babylon 5, pushed the envelope and arguably paved the way for loftier fare, such as the acclaimed Battlestar: Galactica reboot. What made Babylon 5 so special?
For one thing, it pioneered the idea of serialized television. Under the helm of J. Michael Straczynski, who dipped his toe into similar fare with the short-lived Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future (another Gone But Not Forgotten favourite), Babylon 5 was unique in that it told one continuous story over its five-season run. If you were a fan of the show, you really couldn’t afford to miss one episode, with so much continuity between each episode that the entry point for non-viewers was almost non-existent.

True Crime is a part of everyday media that the TV series, specials, films, and documentaries all about it have been around forever. But actually, that’s not the case. The format we now see, wasn’t the norm at all in the 80s when Unsolved Mysteries began its iconic run. A weekly series built around cases and interviews with the people who were a part of them, re-enacting the crimes…had never been done before.
But then one day a series came along that would not only showcase True Crime but would also give us ghosts, UFOs, and all points in between. Not only that, but the theme song would cause Ptsd in most kids my age who had the fortune or misfortune to hear it. That series is Unsolved Mysteries, a series so popular that it changed not only pop culture but the way investigations within law enforcement were conducted.

I love Star Trek. It’s one of the most unique fandoms since it features multiple different properties in the same universe. Don’t get me wrong, I love Star Wars, but something about Star Trek that raises it to another level. There are so many shows that are unique in their own way. You have Star Trek T.O.S, Star Trek The Animated Series, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager, Enterprise, Star Trek: Discovery, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Star Trek: Prodigy, Star Trek: Lower Decks, and Star Trek: Picard.
The point is that there is something for everyone. Fans are a little bit less toxic than other fandoms. My theory is that because there are so many shows there is at least one show that everyone can agree is good. So if someone were to, let’s say, hate Prodigy,...

When I was in high school, kids wouldn’t shut up about Isaac Asimov, the American writer and professor of biochemistry at Boston University. When he wasn’t molding young minds in the classroom, Asimov was busy becoming one of the “Big Three” science-fiction writers worldwide. Cerebral and scientific, Asimov’s writing teased the brain and tickled the imagination. In 1988, Asimov partnered with Michael Wagner to create the short-lived TV series Probe. Looked upon fondly by those who remember it, Probe lasted for two months before getting yanked from the ABC Network.
In today’s Gone But Not Forgotten, Parker Stevenson joins us to discuss this rare gem of science-fiction entertainment. Stevenson’s presence makes this a special episode of this series, and we thank him for his participation. If you’re a Probe fan, let us know in the comments!

This year, Marvel is returning to one of the most beloved cartoons of my childhood with the highly anticipated (and controversial) X-Men ’97. Of course, I’m talking about X-Men: The Animated Series. It featured a team of outcasts who saved the world daily even though the world scorned them. A group of people born with amazing powers and posed the question “of whether they were the next step in human evolution?” They were called mutants or freaks, but to many, they were called icons or legends. I am, of course, talking about The X-Men. Specifically, the animated series from the 90’s was full of action and adventure. But it also taught many children about the dangers of hate and how love and acceptance are needed worldwide. The show was massively popular, and its message was applauded. But what’s the story of its origin, and why did it leave us in the first place?...

I’m pretty lucky; I have lived through some major pop culture events: the Tim Burton Batman films changed comic book media, the birth of Image comics, seeing how Star Trek The Next Generation birthed a new fandom, etc. But one of the biggest events was seeing how animation wouldin a few short years change forever. The Simpsons is one example of how cartoons started to break new ground. Yet, there was one cartoon that broke the world of American animation. It was gross, it was crass, it was unlike anything we had ever seen. If the Simpsons were an explosion, Ren & Stimpy were the atomic bomb. Today many popular cartoons can all trace their origins back to an insane Chihuahua and a stupid big-nosed cat. It is undeniable Ren & Stimpy changed the face of animation. However, the story behind the show’s genesis is full of rebellion,...

Eighties television was a land of new ideas that hadn’t been seen before. It was also a place where old tropes were made shiny and new with a modern sheen that intrigued audiences and would produce classics like the hospital drama St. Elsewhere and the crime drama Hill Street Blues.
It would be a humdinger of a decade within the genre of mystery and detectives. It would see the return of the iconic detective Mike Hammer in a new series and would also bring us the dramedy Moonlighting. We’d also be treated to one of the greatest performances of Sherlock Holmes ever with the amazing Jeremy Brett.
It would also bring us a female detective who, in a world filled with male counterparts, couldn’t catch a break until she made up her own male counterpart in a boss named Remington Steele. The rest, as they say, is history,...

I have this really bad habit when I watch new shows. I am always late to the party. It happens all the time. I watch a pilot of a TV show, write it off and then years later I find out it’s an incredible piece of work. Community, Brooklyn 99, Superstore, and Babylon 5 are a few that come to mind. It’s frustrating because I miss out on so much fun, like talking to other fans about the show, conventions, and fun marketing. Sure, you can still do many of these things after the show but, like a fresh slice of pizza, it always tastes better fresh out of the oven. Fringe is another slice that I have had to microwave. The series followed a quirky scientist, an estranged criminal son, and a badass FBI agent on some dark and fascinating twists and turns. These would involve alternate dimensions,...

We all love a good superhero origin story. Sure, it’s great to see Spider-Man swing from buildings, but it’s what Uncle Ben tells a young Peter Parker that touches us all. We all love seeing Batman kick the Joker’s teeth in, but we are all fascinated by that tragic night in Crime Alley. So it’s no surprise that the first and greatest superhero of all time should have a TV show about what defines him. There is a reason why Clark Kent is the best of us. While Batman may be the ultimate example of physical perfection, Superman is the pinnacle of the goodness of humanity. But fans have always debated: is Superman Clark Kent, or is Clark Kent just a disguise? I have always argued Superman is just a cape. Clark is the hero who wears it. I love cartoons. Specifically cartoon series from the 80’s and 90’s. Whenever someone asks me what my favorite childhood cartoon is, I always say there are two. The first is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and the second is Darkwing Duck. I was the biggest fan of the masked mallard, and who wouldn’t be? He was brave, smart, egotistical, and accident-prone but would persevere against evil. He had a killer costume and cool equipment to fight bad guys. He had an awesome rogue’s gallery that was a bit of a joke but also surprisingly formidable. The cartoon was also not afraid to show its love for classic superhero comics at a time when the general public didn’t understand it. It even broke through the Iron Curtain at the height of the Cold War. But does this cartoon from the early 90’s still hold up? Is it a silly...

Every once in a while you will find a show that will become your obsession. You know what I’m talking about, it’s the show that you can’t stop thinking about. The water cooler shows as they say. Game of Thrones, The Wire, and of course, Breaking Bad are the prime examples. Some are mostly perfect, and some we just try not to talk about. But some shows that are equally as good, sometimes just fly under the radar. TV shows that are just as good if not better than the Breaking Bad’s of the world. One of those shows is called The Shield.
This show is something special. To say that The Shield pushes the envelope is an understatement. The series showed the ugly side of crime and law enforcement. Corruption, murder, racism, political machinations, serial killers, and other dark stuff that you would probably would not like to hear about.

A new decade began at the end of the 80s. The television landscape was beginning to change somewhat. The big three were nervous about a new network called Fox that, with an animated show of all things called The Simpsons, would manage to beat them in the ratings.
ABC decided to gamble on something completely different in comparison to anything else on the television landscape at that time with David Lynch’s Twin Peaks. This was the first glimpse that viewers would have into the misty and surreal town of Twin Peaks, a dream world created by David Lynch and Mark Frost which would become an obsession to viewers and would continue to be over the years to come.

Have you ever bought something impulsively and realized that you probably should have thought it through? I know I have. But, I’m just a nobody, I’m not a major network that can pour thousands upon thousands of dollars into a TV show before they think it through. Networks can make some boneheaded moves. But unlike those other shows, the show I want to talk about was actually good! It’s just that it wound up causing the network a lot of headaches. The singer fired back at someone who compared her to transgender comedian Suzy Eddie Izzard on Tuesday.
Pink — whose birthday was September 8 — responded to the troll who wished her happy birthday using Izzard’s photo.
The “Try” hitmaker wrote, “Thank you so much. I just showed my 12 year old daughter your post.
“I explained to her that I’ve never met you, I don’t know you, and I have no idea why you would go out of your way to be hateful.
“It was a good lesson in ignorance. Thank you. I still don’t know you. Congrats. You’re no one,” she added.

Paris Jackson has had to deal with some cruel social media trolls over the years.
Paris’ father, the late Michael Jackson, would have turned 65 on Tuesday and she took to Instagram to address his birthday in a video.
The musician told the camera, “When he was alive, he used to hate anybody acknowledging his birthday, wishing him a happy birthday, celebrating it, nothing like that.
“He actually didn’t want us to even know when his birthday was because he didn’t want us to throw a party,” noting that “social media is apparently how people express their love and affection these days.”

How did a TV show like Land of the Lost ever get made? The 70s saw some really wild television. It seemed like TV networks were willing to try anything at least once. From shows about space age garbage men named Quark, Bionic Couples, or couples who are actually elements like the little known BBC series Sapphire and Steel. Anything and everything was game for at least one season. Children’s programming was even more bizarre, as networks tried to engage kids and teens alike in a time when psychedelic was the norm. When it came to family and kid’s TV though, there was one duo who stood proud with a legacy that would dominate the 70s when it came to family programming and put the variety into the word “variety show”.
That duo was Sid and Marty Krofft, and they would be the creators of some of the...

One of the coolest guys of the eighties was Tom Selleck, and everyone absolutely loved him playing the laid-back Thomas Magnum on the classic series Magnum, P.I. Running from 1980 to 1988; the show proved to be a mixed blessing for its star, as Selleck had auditioned to play Indiana Jones in Raiders of the Lost Ark and was actually chosen to play the part. He had to pass because he had already shot the pilot for Magnum, P.I., and the network wouldn’t let him out of his contract.
While passing up the opportunity to play the whip-wielding archeologist must have stung, Magnum P.I. ran for eight years and was one of the biggest shows of the decade. Selleck became a household name and parlayed his success on the show into a series of film roles (including Best Movie You Never Saw fave Runaway), culminating with the release of Three Men and a Baby,...

The mid-2000s were an excellent time for serialized action shows. There were 24, Lost, Chuck, Prison Break and loads more. But, perhaps the best of all of them – for a while anyway – was J.J. Abrams’ Alias, which starred Jennifer Garner as Sydney Bristow, a black ops agent for what she thinks is a unit of the CIA, Sd-6. Of course, the truth turns out to be much deadlier, as Sydney finds out in the influential pilot episode, which aired September 30th, 2001.
The series immediately became a big hit, with Jennifer Garner rivalling Angelina Jolie for a while as one of the top female action stars of the era. It paved the way for her to be cast as Elektra in the early Marvel movie Daredevil (a role she reprises in Deadpool 3), and the show also offered an early part to a young Bradley Cooper, who played her friend Will Tippin.

For a long time, Teen Dramas were my guilty pleasure. I wasn’t into the standard stuff like 90210 or Party of Five. No, I either hated those shows, or I just never saw them. My favorites were shows like My So-Called Life or Freaks and Geeks. I think it was because, much like the characters on the show, I fell in love with them. Like soap opera fans, I became invested in the character’s relationships. But, unlike previous shows, The O.C. was one of those rare shows that gave you just enough drama that it didn’t go into full-blown melodrama.
Okay, that’s a lie. It gave you A Lot of melodrama at times. But for some strange reason, the show felt sincere. While many of these teen dramas at the time felt like they were writing episodes for ratings, the O.C. just felt like they were telling good stories.

There are a few films that successfully derived the formula of The Karate Kid while making a name for itself with its own identity. One of those movies is the quaint 1992 Chuck Norris film, Sidekicks, a movie recently featured on our list of the Best Chuck Norris Films. This movie would feature an added plot element where the young protagonist finds himself often daydreaming of having adventures alongside his biggest influence, Chuck Norris, that playfully parodies the different films that Chuck has made throughout his career. It would all culminate in getting to meet the Texas Ranger himself as dream becomes reality, and the two team up in a karate tournament.
According to ComicBook.com — the man, the myth, the legend — Chuck Norris recently appeared at Nashville Comic-Con. During his panel, Norris was asked by ComicBook.com’s Chris Killian, “What do you feel is your most underappreciated film? For me,...

Back in 1990, CBS’s The Flash was a favorite of young comic book fans. Growing up as a young comic book fan in the ’80s and ’90s was not easy. All you current comic fans have it so easy. I grew up in the dark times, my friends. We were glad when anything comic book related was on movies and TV. We were so desperate that we would make excuses for anything.
Superman III? Hey, he gets to fight an evil Superman.

Howard the Duck? Yeah….I got nothing.
But every once in a while someone would get it right. Richard Donner’s Superman started it but it was Tim Burton’s Batman film in 1989 that started to change things. Sure we would eventually get duds like Batman & Robin, but we also had Batman The Animated Series and Blade. Yet for a long time,...

Growing up in the 80s it was a special time for kids who loved cars. Series like Magnum Pi, Knight Rider, and The A-Team all had an iconic vehicle that was a centerpiece of the series and epitomized the spirit of the show. But perhaps none was as iconic and memorable as the car at the heart of this episode, The General Lee.
The orange painted muscle car was the chariot of Bo and Luke, the two modern day Robin Hoods Aka The Duke Boys. In this episode of Gone But Not Forgotten we’re going climb through the window and get behind the wheel of The General as we revisit The Dukes of Hazzard.

Every once in a while you will hear a story that makes you say to yourself “there is no way this is true”. Hearing facts like If you hold in your farts long enough, the gas can be re-absorbed and come out of your mouth or that one point in history, turkeys were worshipped as gods. These are facts that are surprisingly true. But in the world of television, there is one show that many people still think was a myth. That show is called Cop Rock…
Yes my friends, this is a real show. Not a parody, not a fever dream, not a glimpse into television from an alternate universe. With Bruce Willis’ recent, tragic frontotemporal dementia diagnosis revealed, we here at JoBlo thought the time was right to celebrate the show that made him a star, Moonlighting, in which he co-starred with Cybill Shepherd. At the time, Willis was a complete unknown, with only a one-episode guest starring role as a bad guy on Miami Vice to show for his early years in Hollywood. All that changed when the creators of Moonlighting were looking for a fresh face to play a wisecracking private eye named David Addison. On the show, he would be paired with Cybill Shepherd, who was then already a pretty big star thanks to a run of movies in the seventies that included The Last Picture Show and Taxi Driver. In this, she would play a former model who, after having her fortune embezzled, discovers she owns a low-rent detective agency run by Willis’ Addison.

The Littlest Hobo is one of the craziest TV shows of all time. If you grew up in Canada during the ’80s and ’90s, you were undoubtedly raised on the adventures of this nameless German Shepherd, who trotted along from town-to-town, helping those in need. Throughout six seasons, the dog rescued children in danger, foiled a Soviet spy plot (yes – he fought the Cold War), prevented a plague outbreak, solved murders and helped innocent folks prove their innocence and more. Here’s the kicker – the dog didn’t have any magic powers or anything dumb like that. He was just a Very good dog, albeit an incredibly intelligent one. It’s a fun piece of Canadian camp nostalgia that’s gained a major cult following in the U.S. Tons of seventies and eighties character actors show up in various episodes, including Leslie Nielsen, DeForest Kelly, Michael Ironside and many more.

Despite running only nineteen episodes, the show has had a strong afterlife, being rebooted (badly) years later, and remaining a cult favorite to us children of the eighties and nineties. This could be the year that Julia Louis-Dreyfus makes Emmy history.
Nominated once again for playing Selina Meyer on HBO’s “Veep,” Louis-Dreyfus is the favorite to win her sixth consecutive Emmy as outstanding comedy actress. In doing so, she would beat the record for most Emmys won by a performer in the same role for the same series.
Right now, Louis-Dreyfus is in a three-way tie with Candice Bergen (“Murphy Brown”) and Don Knotts (“Andy Griffith Show”). All three thesps won five Emmys for their roles on those shows. Now, Louis-Dreyfus is poised to leap ahead.
What’s more, she’s also in line this year to tie Cloris Leachman for the most Emmys ever won by a female performer. Leachman has eight; Louis-Dreyfus has seven – tied with Mary Tyler Moore and Allison Janney. (Janney, of course, is competing with Louis-Dreyfus in the comedy...

Though The Gifted may be the highest-profile series premiere lining Fox’s fall 2017-2018 slate – Bryan Singer and Matt Nix’s X-Men family drama has been booked in for early October – the network still has plenty of fan-favorite shows returning for another crack of the whip. Case in point: The Exorcist.
Whereas a small number of movie-to-tv adaptations bombed spectacularly back in 2016 – namely Minority Report and the recently-canned 24: Legacy – Fox’s horror anthology series struck a chord with audiences and even managed to maintain a relatively healthy threshold of two million viewers per episode. Even after all these years, it turns out there’s still an appetite for William Friedkin’s film classic of ’73.
And so, to strike while the iron was hot, Fox quickly ordered a second season of The Exorcist, which is now expected to loom over the small screen on Friday, September 29th. As previously reported, the Rance family won’t be returning, meaning that Geena Davis, Hannah Kasulka, Brianne Howey, and Alan Ruck have parted ways with the series – for now, at least.
Gone but not forgotten? According to series creator Jeremy Slater, there’s still a small chance that the Rances will make an appearance somewhere down the line.
“A potential season two would find Marcus, Tomas and Bennett tasked with helping a new family or a new case of possession,” he shared with us ahead of the renewal.
“Our challenge now is to create a new family that you care about just as much as the Rances, and to find ways to make their story feel just as compelling and unique as what came before. That doesn’t mean we’ll never see any of the Rances again.
Ready for another season of supernatural thrills and spills? The Exorcist anthology series returns via Fox on Friday, September 29th, at 9:00-10:00 pm Et/Pt. The Gifted, on the other hand, begins its mutant family saga on Monday, October 2nd.
