Once upon a time, in the not-so-distant year 2005, a group of space cops in colorful spandex took our TV screens by storm. Yes, we’re talking about Power Rangers S.P.D., the season that gave us futuristic crime-fighting, alien bad guys, and some of the best morphing sequences in the franchise.
The show was packed with action and had some of the most well-developed characters in the Power Rangers universe, giving fans a mix of humor, drama, and intense teamwork. It was a season that stood out for its strong storytelling, memorable villains, and, of course, a legendary mentor who was literally a walking, talking space dog.

Fast forward to today, and our beloved heroes have swapped their Ranger suits for new careers, different roles, and the occasional Comic-Con appearance. But what exactly are the S.P.D. squad members up to these days?...

By its very nature, Power Rangersis a goofy and bizarre series. This especially applies to early seasons, like Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, where integration of Super Sentai footage was still rough, and the tone was more in line with Saved by the Bell than anything else. While the show evolved over time, there isn't a season without some head-scratching details.
The Disney Era of Power Rangers was ambitious and well-produced, but it was also as weird as any other era of the franchise. Within the show itself, there are still odd choices made regularly, and the series' infamously low budget often winds up haunting it. Other aspects of the Disney seasons won't be noticed just by watching them, and require outside knowledge to understand what makes them so strange.

There are certain Power Rangersseasons that, since they first aired, have been hailed as the pinnacle of the franchise. Seasons like Power Rangers in Space, Power Rangers Spd, and Power Rangers Rpm are near-universally loved, even with the fandom being able to acknowledge their respective flaws. But, when it comes to Power Rangers Time Force, I think most fans fail to realize just how many issues it has.
Power Rangers Time Force is commonly held up as a masterpiece, but it's far from the best season in the franchise. I love the season, and it features some of the most engaging characters and storylines in the series, along with one of the most talented casts of actors.

After Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always celebrated the original shows 30th anniversary, the next Power Rangers show to get a reunion should be S.P.D. especially if it were possible to do it in 2025. Although Power Rangers has had plenty of crossover episodes and nostalgic cameos, the franchise had never done a proper reunion for a specific season before Once & Always. Given the significance of Power Rangers turning 30, it only made sense to get some of the original cast members back for a TV special.
Of course, no other Power Rangers season is as iconic as Mighty Morphin, even though the original series is arguably not the best entry in the franchise. It would be nave to believe that every or most Power Rangers seasons would ever get an anniversary special like Mighty Morphin did, which doesnt mean the franchise shouldnt celebrate other important chapters of its history.

Lord Drakkon is arguably the most popular of the Power Rangers characters who never appeared in the TV show, and the closest thing to a live-action version of the multiversal conqueror that we got is more than enough proof that the series needs a modern reboot. For 30 years, the Power Rangers franchise has delivered fun, action-packed adventures following a team of multi-colored heroes defending the earth from evil. After the third season of Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, the franchise began adapting new Super Sentai (the Japanese tokusatsu series) series for Power Rangers, introducing new suits, zords, and after Power Rangers In Space, a new cast every year. While the average Power Rangers team consists of five Rangers, with the sixth Ranger being introduced later on, some series featured a larger Ranger team.
Power Rangers S.P.D. was the first series to feature more than six Rangers consistently as part of the team. After that, Power Rangers continued to feature larger amounts of Rangers throughout the Disney era, the New Saban era, and the Hasbro era. The Power Rangers franchise has always included characters from other planets. Introduced as early as Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers Season Three, there have been many major characters from distant planets in the galaxy, from the intergalactic adventures of Power Rangers In Space and Power Rangers Lost Galaxy to the alien-inhabited Earth seen in Power Rangers S.P.D.
These characters are always an interesting inclusion in the series, setting up the idea that the Morphin Grid exists in other worlds, with Power Rangers existing on these other planets. Power Rangers Super Megaforce expanded on this lore, introducing several Ranger teams never before seen on Earth. Of these many alien Ranger characters, some were given focus as members of the mainline team.

How to watch every Power Rangers show in order is a tricky question, as the franchise deals with alternate universes and has a complicated timeline. Getting into Power Rangers 30 years after Mighty Morphin Power Rangers may seem difficult, namely due to how many Power Rangers teams there are. Power Rangers' TV canon consists of 973 episodes. However, despite the significant amount of Power Rangers content released since 1993, catching up with Power Rangers is not as difficult as it sounds.

Many fans of the Power Rangers series will know that the long-running series is based on the Japanese tokusatsu series, Super Sentai. Super Sentai began airing in 1978 with Himitsu Sentai Gorenger, with Power Rangers premiering 15 years later. Power Rangers was a genius idea, taking the morphed action sequences from Super Sentai and cutting the footage with footage of American actors for unmorphed scenes.
For many hardcore Power Rangers/Super Sentai fans, many would agree that Super Sentai is the superior series. However, there are some aspects of Power Rangers that are done much better than in its Japanese counterpart. Some of these aspects have really stood out in Power Rangers' 30-year run.

The Power Rangers franchise, based on the Japanese Super Sentai series, has run for 30 years, with a new cast of Rangers taking up the mantle almost every year. In the 30 seasons of Power Rangers, there are some Ranger colors that constantly appear, with Red Rangers, Blue Rangers, and Yellow Ranges in almost every Rangers team. However, there are some Ranger colors that break the standard.
Every few seasons, a new Ranger color debuts, such as the appearance of Boom in Power Rangers S.P.D., the first Orange Ranger to appear on-screen. Power Rangers S.P.D. is arguably one of the most popular series in the Power Rangers franchise. Universally loved by fans, the 2005 series followed a group of B-Squad cadets at Space Patrol Delta in their ongoing battle with an evil alien empire. Set in the year 2025, the series explores a futuristic Earth where humans and aliens live together in harmony.
The series felt like a genuine tonal shift for the franchise, feeling slightly more mature for its demographic. Power Rangers S.P.D. had several episodes that stood out as highlights of the series, with some being two-parters and others focusing in on particular members of the team.

Power Rangers is a simple show compared to most others, but, over the past 31 years, it has constructed a complex web of lore across multiple forms of media. One of the most common points of confusion about the franchise is its multiverse. Tanner Buchanan would be an amazing Tommy Oliver in a Power Rangers reboot. Buchanan's performance as Robby Keene in Cobra Kai proves he would make a great Green Ranger. It's unclear whether Power Rangers will ever reboot Mmpr for TV, but if so, Tommy would naturally join the story eventually.

Power Rangers' sci-fi seasons are among the best entries in the franchise, featuring androids, time travel, and space exploration. Some standout sci-fi seasons include Power Rangers Lost Galaxy, Power Rangers Time Force, and Power Rangers Spd. Power Rangers In Space and Power Rangers Lost Galaxy were the first to successfully combine the Power Rangers formula with sci-fi elements, delivering mature and impactful storytelling.
The Power Rangers universe includes 30 seasons of television, many of which belong in the sci-fi genre. While every Power Rangers TV show follows the basic premise introduced in Mighty Morphin, the franchise has evolved a lot since the final days of the Zordon Era. Some of the best entries in the Power Rangers chronology could not be more different from Mighty Morphin, including the shows that delved into the sci-fi aspect of the saga.
Starting with Power Rangers Lost Galaxy, most of the seasons have been standalone stories.

Each Power Rangers team is incredible on its own. These teenagers with attitude are smart, determined, and strong, and they're committed to the fight against evil. However, they still need a hand sometimes. Each Power Rangers team has had a mentor.
Whether this was a former Power Ranger himself, like Tommy Oliver, a martial artist like Sensei Kanoi Watanabe, or a mystical being from a different planet, like Zordon, the Rangers' mentor is always a wise, upstanding character whom the team respects no matter what. Although all Rangers' mentors have been incredible, some of them stand out more than others for their charisma, their sheer power, or even their backstory.

Unarguably, the most iconic mentor in Power Rangers, Tommy Oliver, started out as a Ranger himself. He debuted in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers in 1993 as the villainous Green Ranger.

Warning: This article contains Spoilers for Power Rangers Cosmic Fury.
Power Rangers Cosmic Fury introduces the show's first Orange Ranger after 30 years, fulfilling a long-time fan wish. The Orange Ranger is a rarity in the Super Sentai series that Power Rangers is based on, with only a few shows featuring an Orange Ranger. The inclusion of an Orange Ranger in Cosmic Fury is even more important considering that the show may have been the end of the current Power Rangers chronology.
Power Rangers finally has an Orange Ranger 30 years later thanks to Power Rangers Cosmic Fury’s Fern, played by Jacqueline Joe. Since 1993’s Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, the franchise has seen dozens of seasons, multiple teams, and hundreds of Power Rangers. However, some Power Rangers colors are far more common than others. For example, every Power Rangers team includes a Red Ranger, whereas not every season has a Green or White Ranger.

This Power Rangers Cosmic Fury article contains spoilers through episode 9.
2025. A year that’s loomed over Power Rangers since 2005 when Power Rangers S.P.D., the 13th season of the franchise, aired. S.P.D.’s unusual jump forward in the timeline (previously each season had more or less matched it years of airing) was so the show could tell stories about an Earth that, to quote the shows first episode, “has become a haven for all alien races who come from the farthest reaches of the galaxy.”
The world of S.P.D. was one where aliens lived freely amongst humans, just a regular part of everyday life, and the titular Space Patrol Delta protected Earth against the few aliens who refused to live in harmony. It set up the idea that, within twenty years of the season’s airing, Earth in the Power Rangers universe would soon be crawling with aliens.

Power Rangers Cosmic Fury introduces a never-before-seen Power Ranger color, which adds to it being a season of many "firsts" for the franchise. The addition of Fern as the Orange Ranger marks the first time Power Rangers has featured an actual Orange Ranger on the TV show. Cosmic Fury is the first Power Rangers season to have a main team with three female Rangers and two Ranger couples, breaking traditional Ranger team dynamics.
Power Rangers Cosmic Fury, the next Power Rangers season, features a never-before-seen Power Ranger color that changes the franchise in many ways. All episodes of Power Rangers Cosmic Fury will premiere globally on Netflix on September 29. Cosmic Fury, which is partially adapting Uchu Sentai Kyuranger, is the 30th Power Rangers season and will bring the saga full circle with the return of original Blue Ranger Billy Cranston. Mighty Morphin’s Lord Zedd is also making a comeback.

Power Rangers Cosmic Fury's new intro reveals a brand new Power Ranger color through one of the Zords: Orange. This is set to be the first Orange Ranger in the franchise's 30-year history. Jacqueline Joe, who played Fern in Power Rangers Dino Fury, will be joining the main cast of Power Rangers Cosmic Fury. This suggests that Fern will become a Power Ranger in the new season. If Fern becomes the Orange Ranger, she and her girlfriend Izzy, Dino Fury's Green Ranger, will be Ranger partners too.
Power Rangers’ new intro for Power Rangers Cosmic Fury all but confirms a new Power Ranger color that has never been used in the franchise’s 30-year-old television history. Warning: This article contains Spoilers for Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always and Power Rangers: Soul of the Dragon.
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always referenced “J.J.”, a very important character in the lives of Katherine Hillard and Tommy Oliver. The Power Rangers reunion brought back some of the original Power Rangers and introduced a new Mighty Morphin lineup. Power Rangers has a new Yellow Ranger after Power Rangers: Once & Always’ ending battle, but the special also teased another legacy character.
When Kat was summoned by Alpha 9 through the Bandora Protocol, the second Pink Ranger mentioned that J.J. was in class. Toward the end of Power Rangers: Once & Always, Kat commented that being a mother to J.J. can be more challenging than saving the planet from Rita Repulsa. Katherine Hillard and Tommy Oliver are married at this point in the Power Rangers timeline.

The "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always" anniversary special is a pure treat for the fans. Unlike the previous crossover specials, which had the current generation of Rangers team up with older ones for some emergent threat, this special focuses solely on the first show — the titular Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, and its two generations of Rangers that actually met and interacted 30 years ago. Because of this, "Once & Always" has the ability to go more specific in its references, and its loving tributes.
Indeed, this is a love letter to the franchise as a whole, as the script considers the entire canon of "Power Rangers," both the multiple iterations of the show — like Aisha and Adam now being part of the predecessors of Space Patrol Delta from "Power Rangers S.P.D." — to even the expanded canon like the mention of J.J. Oliver from the comics. That being said, the best...

If the big studios can be all about remaking classics, then why can’t b-movie makers remake classic bad movies? That seems to be Jim Wynorski’s newest niche. The Chopping Mall director has already wrapped a remake of the 1959 creature feature The Giant Gila Monster, and now he’s revealed plans to remake something even more dubious: Santa Claus Conquers the Martians.
We’ve previously told you about Wynorski’s Giant Gila Monster remake – now simply titled Gila! - that he cooked up with Hellbound: Hellraiser II helmer Tony Randel. Now the fine folks at Undead Backbrain got hold of the first artwork and some production stills for this shot in color but still set in the 1950’s updating of one of the cheesiest movies of all time.

What motion picture could possibly be so epic it would require the combined directorial talents of the director of Hellbound: Hellraiser II and the director of Chopping Mall? Would you believe a remake of the 1959 bad movie classic The Giant Gila Monster?
If you’re going to remake a movie, you might as well remake a bad one, and The Giant Gila Monster is most definitely a bad movie. Sure, the ultra low budget 1959 drive-in creature feature that used footage of a real live gila monster as its greatest special effect has marked its place as a classic b-movie; let’s just not kid ourselves about it actually being a good movie.
So can a low budget remake of The Giant Gila Monster actually make a good movie out of hallmark of bad cinema? It certainly can’t tarnish its legacy.
