    It had an interesting story

Garv: Pride and Honour, also known as Pride and Honour, is an action, crime, drama and thriller film produced in India in 2004, directed by Puneet Issar and produced by Cinevista. And published; The screenplay of this movie was written jointly by Puneet Issar and Anirudh Dehpkar, and actors such as Salman Khan, Shilpa Shetty, Arbaaz Khan, Amrish Puri, Farida Jalal, Kulbushan Karbanda, Anupam Kheer, Mukesh Rishi, Shivaji Satam, Rajpal Yadav and etc. Have played a role in it; Also, this film was first released on July 9, 2004 in Indian cinemas, then it was released on DVD by Ultra Media & Entertainment in America and other countries; The film Iftikhar received mixed reviews from critics and audiences after its release, but it was often praised for the good acting of the actors, especially Salman Khan's acting, the story, the soundtrack, the script, the characterizations, and also the action sequences; After participating in the international Screen Awards, the film Iftikhar was nominated for the best actor award with Salman Khan. This movie tells the story of three brave and honest policemen; Samar Singh (Amrish Puri), Arjun Roanowat (Salman Khan) and Haider Ali Khan (Abaaz Khan); Samar wants to reduce the crime rate in the government, but they face many obstacles because powerful and corrupt politicians create many problems for them.

Another excellent Salman Khan performance but script fails

I had huge expectations for the film. There was quite a bit of hype for the film, considering it is Salman's first film since his last film, the excellent critically acclaimed Tere Naam.

One thing going against the film is the fact so many cop flicks have been released eg Khakee, Ann, Police Force etc. Out the ones released Khakee being the best one.

However, Salman Khan's bravado performance was awesome. Salman Khan is the best in the industry at portraying intimidating characters. Tere Naam is another example of this. Salman Khan makes it believable. At the same time he easily portrays the good son, good brother, good friend and lover at the same time.

Punnet Isaar's script is too outdated to work in this era. Baghban was an exception , however that film had an emotional appeal as the basis of the story happens in this day and age still.

Overall, just watch it for Salman Khan's bravado performance. As an overall film, it is poor.

Full of highly intense action and its patriotic. Music could've been a little better.

Salman Khan shines in these kinds of roles; his performance is good as expected. Amrish Puri also did well in the movie along with Arbaaz Khan and Shilpa Shetty. Mukesh rishi was also OK. Others such as Farida Jalal and Anupam Kher were half-decent too. There's only one good song in the movie: 'soniye to soni'. The story is good and so too are the dialogues, most of which are delivered by Salman Khan. What is best about the movie is the action. A lot of people will say 'ouch' quite a lot throughout the movie and/or turn their head the other way. It is, after all, quite gruesome.

Verdict:you must watch it if you're not squeamish. Since i'm not squeamish, I give it 8/10

    To the previous reviewer....

This is less a review of the film than one of the previous reviewer. Envy doesn't look good on you my friend. It's been 16 years since this film dropped and Mr. Khan still has a thriving career in cinema. And where are you dear friend? Still fuming in your lounge at people you don't know and gnashing your teeth with jealousy. So sad.

A very weak film only partially elevated by Khan's presence

Back in those days, Salman Khan was a highly popular star, and to his credit he had hardly been part of those big-budget films made by Chopra, Ghai and the likes. Khan is a good entertainer, and a great strength of his is that he never seemed to consider himself a particularly good actor, neither did he really pretend to take the acting part of acting too close to heart. It was all about a good presence and a likably honest persona. In this film he actually does seem to try to show the opposite, but sadly he never manages to turn it into something particularly special since the film is not very good in the first place. Khan apparently just doesn't have the right flair for choosing the right movies. This is the same age old story of pride and honour, love and sacrifice, principles and values, rape and revenge, and they hardly ever ring true. They could have, had they been tackled by a more competent and imaginative writer or director. But the result is a stale, highly outdated film which doesn't work in spite of Khan's presence. The story lacks any possible depth and conviction. Then we have the usual heroine, played by Shilpa Shetty, whose appearance is basically restricted to the lavish songs. Speaking of songs, there's a nice number called "Hum Tumko Nigahon Mein". The action scenes are not that bad, relatively speaking, but they are typically exaggerated and all stretched out, just like the film itself.

    • Quotes

Satyanarayan Joshi: Mr. Trivedi, if you want to create a ruckus here too just like at the parliament, what is the meaning of this meeting? What is your problem after all?

Kashinath Trivedi: I don't have a problem. I have a question. Till when will your police carry out bloodshed on the streets of the city of Mumbai?

Police Commssioner Samar Singh: Until the last one of this city's gangsters isn't dead. Until we don't achieve the objective of a crime-free state. Until then.

Kashinath Trivedi: Mr. Chief Minister, please make your crazy commissioner understand. that he needs to stop shedding the blood of Dalits and minority groups.

Police Commssioner Samar Singh: Kashi Trivedi, politicians like you shed blood. Not the police. Who created fights in the country regarding temples and mosques? You did. The Brahmins against Yadavs in Bihar, the Thakurs against Dalits in UP, and the Muslims against Hindus in Gujarat. Who did all this? You did. Just for a few votes, you get a brother to kill his own brother. Then you warm yourselves with their funeral pyres. That's what politicians like you do, not the police.

Kashinath Trivedi: Hey! Human rights violator! You are accusing me? Me! I'll topple Satyanarayan Joshi's government in a snap.

      [Kashi snaps finger]

Kashinath Trivedi: I'll topple your chair, understood? I'll bring you down to a constable from a commissioner.

      [Party members laugh]

ACP Arjun Ranavat: Kashi Trivedi. Whose human rights are you speaking about? Those hooligans, who don't consider humans as humans? Those who shoot at innocent people? Who widow their wives and orphan their children? Kashi Trivedi, are you praising their human rights? They aren't humans. How can we have a human consideration for them? They are inhuman bastards. They just understand one language. This one.

      [Arjun shows his gun]

Kashinath Trivedi: Shut up! You mere police inspector! You're flying high on their strength, aren't you? This chief minister's days are on thin ice now. I'll transfer this commissioner as soon as I become the chief minister. And as for you, if I don't make you salute me everyday, my name won't be Kashi Trivedi!

ACP Arjun Ranavat: Then listen to what I say too, Kashi Trivedi. The day I get some proof against you, you won't be sitting on the chief minister's chair but on your funeral pyre. And I promise you, Kashi Trivedi. You won't even get one man to shoulder your funeral.
