For rent: Secret laboratory. Ideal for mad scientists, superheroes and their posses.
Now, about those posses: time was when superheroes operated pretty much alone, or with a sidekick, who could be anyone from the original Green Lantern’s cab driving Doiby Dickles to Batman’s intrepid though preadolescent Robin. Oh, there were other continuing characters in your basic superhero saga – think Jimmy Olsen and Commissioner Gordon – but when it came to doing the daring deeds the folk in the costumes usually flew solo.
Then things evolved and –
Almost certainly, a lot more people will see Supergirl on television this week than ever read one of the Maid of Might’s comic books. She’s plenty super – give her that – and as bonuses, attractive and charmiing, but she doesn’t fight evil by herself. No, she’s allied with a brainy group of colleagues who hang their doctorates in a secret lab.

James Franco is finishing a joke. "Natalie Wood…get it? What kind of wood doesn't float?" On tonight's episode of "What Basic Thing Does Teresa Not Know," we learn that our Jersey genius has no clue what a vineyard is -- despite the fact that she's currently driving to one, and headed to many on her upcoming Napa vacay. She informs us that because she enjoys a good bellini or 12 before having to be in her husband's presence, she's going to formulate her own: the 'Fabellini.' Ooh, a 'Housewife' hoping to break into the alcohol industry with a cutesy product. What an inventive concept! But don't worry, she has no desire for it to taste "diet-y" like Bethenny's Skinnygirl cocktails. You'll actually be able to feel your ass expand with every sip of Teresa's bev!
As she and Joe drive to whatever the heck a vineyard is, she brainstorms more completely unrelated ideas to add to her fictitious brand. "I also want to do like,...

Long rumored to be moving (perhaps due to the giant For Rent sign on the building), Forbidden Planet, one of NYC’s longest-running comics shops, is moving a few doors down the street to larger digs, according to manager Jeff Ayers. The new location, 832 Broadway (between 13th and 12th Streets), provides 3400 sq. feet of space for comics, toys and games, and it’s the largest of the three spaces the store has held on that same block over the years. “This expansion has been necessary for some time now, and will allow us to provide our customers with even more product selection and depth, while streamlining the store’s layout to one convenient floor,” said Ayers in a statement. The new store opens Tuesday, July 24th 2012 in a “soft launch,” but there will be a bigger launch party later. The olde shoppe closes on Sunday, July 22nd. The olde shoppe...

The "For Rent" sign wasn't up at Chicago's Harpo Studios for very long.
Just a few days after confirming May 25 as the final episode of "The Oprah Winfrey Show," the Own camp announces that its upcoming Rosie O'Donnell talk show will be taking over Winfrey's (sort of) historic home of the past 21 years.
We're a bit confused, because an O'Donnell move to Chicago seems to come from left field, but we're also thrilled for all the Chicago-based crew who will likely still have jobs when their current gig ends in May.
O'Donnell's one-hour daily series is set to debut in fall 2011, but the real question remains... Will guests of "Untitled Rosie O'Donnell Project" stay at the all-suite Omni Hotel, located in the heart of Chicago's magnificent mile?...

About three weeks ago Warner Bros. announced they were now using the Facebook platform to rent their movies. The first film they released using this system was The Dark Knight, and now they have announced five more films that are now available for your renting pleasure. If you have some Facebook points stored up just aching to get spent, why not go watch Inception, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Life as we Know It or Yogi Bear?
The system is simple, just buy Facebook Points and go to the page where the movie rental is located, and give your hard-earned money away. I think the idea is brilliant, despite my teasing. After you make your purchase, you have access to the movie for 48 hours. During that time, you can pause, rewind, restart and comment on the film. Facebook is the most...

How To Pick The Best Place To Read
I’m going to take a slight sidestep with this week’s article, because instead of looking at books, I am going to look at the reader. And more specifically, where a reader devours books, and what makes that space so special.
Now, I’m not claiming to tell people where the best place to read is, because that sort of thing is purely subjective. What works for some may not for others, as my own experiences will show you. However, in order to comfortably and easily read books, there are a few elements that are essential. And for many people, they have one place that is their “reading spot”, where they go solely for the purposes of reading.

Govinda Gallery director Chris Murray. Photo courtesy of the Govinda Gallery Archive. One day, while driving through Washington, D.C., Chris Murray passed a property with a “For Rent” sign in Georgetown. On a whim, with no business plan, Murray rented the space. Since his two best friends were artists, he decided to open an art gallery. This year, Murray’s impulse, the Govinda Gallery, is celebrating its 34th anniversary on 34th Street in Georgetown. According to Murray, this also makes his venture the most longest-lived art gallery in one location in the history of D.C. To get an idea of the venue’s rich history, all one needs to do is walk into Murray’s office. The photos and books scattered around the room offer a visual archive of the projects Murray has taken on and the people who have passed through Govinda’s door. Andy Warhol’s...

Why are Justin's legs the only ones spread?
We open our Nearly Naked Frenchman episode with Sarah and Luc in bed together, and him plotting ways to keep her there indefinitely. I don’t know if that means I should be envious, or call the police to rescue her. Or offer myself as a hostage in exchange. Hey, I'm selfless that way.
In any case the unexpected return of her missing children, who were gallivanting around Europe with their father, causes Luc to run out the back door. And that's too bad as the walk-of-shame is always more fun with kids around.
Luc seems to have experience dashing out the backdoor while dressing.
Back at the Walker Manse, Robert brings food to Kitty on a tray, and I can’t help but think she’s milking this whole cancer thing a bit. I’ve known people that went through aggressive...

Toronto -- Now there's a makeover idea from HGTV U.S. for changing times -- share new series concepts and costs as you co-produce more Canadian-made shows with sister HGTV Canada.
Over the last year, HGTV U.S. bought the first seasons of seven Canadian property- and design-themed shows, including the top-rated "Income Property," and secured impressive ratings for the Canadian imports on its schedule.
The U.S. cable channel recently came on board to co-produce with HGTV Canada the second seasons of six of the indie Canadian shows, and it bought the second season of the seventh show, "For Rent."
Hgtv U.S. president Jim Samples said the stepped-up cooperation started in July 2008 when programmers from both networks met in Toronto to talk development slates and market trends, and discovered common ground on how to pursue audiences as the property market cooled.
On-going conversations remain about more than after-market sales.
