A new career-spanning Rush anthology titled Rush 50 will include previously unreleased tracks and fan-requested material.
The collection is out March 21st and will arrive on vinyl as a 7-lp box set and on CD in a four-disc box set. It marks the first-ever career-spanning anthology from Rush.
“50? Is that all?…seriously…it’s a cool collection…but look at all those songs,” remarked Geddy Lee in a press release. “I’m exhausted just reading the effin list!”
Billed as a chronological trip through the prog-rock legends’ career — from their first single in 1973 through their final gig in 2015 — the tracklist is exhaustive, comprising live and studio recordings.
The rare material — some “fan requested,” per the press release — is frontloaded on Disc 1, including versions of early tunes “Not Fade Away,” “You Can’t Fight It,” and “Working Man” that are receiving their first-ever physical release on vinyl/CD. A handful of live...

No sport is more beautiful or brutal than gymnastics, and the underrated sports drama series, Make It or Break It, understands this to an exacting degree. First debuting in 2009 on ABC Family, it was a monumental moment for the network, featuring a primetime series on female athletes that shared the same passion and respect given to the millions of films and TV series about male-dominated sports up to that point. Inspired by the 2000s sports dramedy gymnastics film Stick It, Make It or Break It ran for three seasons before ending in 2012...

Paramount is the big winner in home viewing at the moment on VOD platforms and at Netflix. The just-released “A Quiet Place: Day One” is #1 at both iTunes (ranking by transactions) and Fandango (by revenue), adding to its success after grossing $137 million in domestic box office so far.
Meantime, Paramount-produced films currently take three of the top five spots on Netflix’s movie top 10, led by Tom Cruise in two “Jack Reacher” movies, “Never Go Back” at #1 and the original at #5. #2 right now is “Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie,” an offshoot of Paramount-owned Nickelodeon’s “SpongeBob SquarePants” empire, which earlier led the list.
Like Sony, Paramount is happy to take Netflix’s money even if it means removing content from their in-house streamer, Paramount+. The “Jack Reacher” movies are not abnormal — all studios other than Disney have some licensing output deal with the streaming leader. But taking homegrown originals — “Saving Bikini Bottom,...

Quick Links Kellan Lutz Before Due Justice Kellan Lutz's Twilight Run What Is Due Justice About?
Released on Prime Video on November 24, 2023, Twilight star Kellan Lutz is enjoying a surge in viewership with his new action movie Due Justice. Although it holds a lowly 26% Rotten Tomatoes rating and a 3.6 IMDb score, the film shows a much different side of Lutz than fans of the Twilight series are used to seeing him when he played Emmett Cullen from 2008 to 2012.
Due Justice is a vicious revenge thriller that, despite its formulaic familiarity, has performed much better on the streaming platform than it did in a limited theatrical release. For Lutz, it will be interesting to see if the movie's newfound popularity will lead to new acting opportunities or if the low ratings will hinder his future projects.

Hell is being a teenage girl. Add being a world-class gymnast on top of that, and it's a world of pain. Warm-up to the 2024 Olympic Games by revisiting the underrated girl power sports classic, Stick It. Starring Jeff Bridges as an intense coach known more for injuring athletes than helping them win, the film hasn't lost its kick in today's cutthroat world of gymnastics. Featuring a young cast of teen hopefuls, Stick It cast multiple real-life competitive gymnasts in the film to give it an authentic feel, including Nastia Liukin, Maddy Curley, and Tarah Paige. Written and directed by Jessica Bendinger in her directorial debut, she had previously penned the script for Bring it On. Carrying her trademark notes of teen feminism and pep, Stick It has an edge to it, while still celebrating how tough women athletes are.

The number of movies about gifted youngsters sacrificing the traditional teen experience in favor of artistic perfection or academic excellence is immeasurable. "Stick It" peered into the world of Olympic hopeful gymnastics, "Whiplash" pulled back the curtain of elite musicianship, and "Bring It On" turned the world of competitive cheerleading into one of the greatest teen films ever made. This is all to say, coming-of-age stories in this territory are well-tread, so finding a way to stand out among so many all-time greats is a massive undertaking. Fortunately, for D.W. Waterson's directorial feature film debut, "Backspot," this stylish, unapologetically queer look at the world of All-Star Cheerleading (not to be confused with high school cheerleading) is a soaring breath of fresh air.

Despite its poor reviews, Kellan Lutz's 2014 film The Legend of Hercules has found success on Netflix's Top 10 list. Lutz's filmography has had its ups and downs, with only a few movies earning positive critical reception. The film's value lies in its entertainment factor, showcasing Lutz's ability to find projects with wide appeal.
Kellan Lutz's The Legend of Hercules didn't sit well with critics, and this continued an unfortunate streak for the actor's movies. Lutz got his big break in Hollywood in the 2006 movie Stick It, and things quickly took off from there. He has since appeared in several movies nearly every year, and franchises like Twilight made him even more familiar to audiences. Unfortunately, leading up to The Legend of Hercules, Lutz was stuck in a pretty grim Rotten Tomatoes streak, and the 2014 film did nothing to improve it.

The For All Mankind season 4 trailer takes viewers to an alternate version of 2003, where the first self-sustaining Mars colony is being developed. The new season explores the challenges of asteroid mining and its impact on international tensions. The ensemble cast, including Joel Kinnaman and Wrenn Schmidt, continues to bring the science fiction show to life in a new decade.
For All Mankind season 4 finally has an official trailer. The science fiction show presents an alternate history of space travel, imagining how the world would be different if Russia had put the first astronaut on the moon and America had stayed in the Space Race. So far, each season has taken place in a new decade, and while Joel Kinnaman and Wrenn Schmidt are the only cast members to have appeared on every season, the ensemble cast also includes Michael Dorman, Sarah Jones, Shantel VanSanten, and Jodi Balfour.

The new year is continuing apace at Hulu. The streamer’s list of new releases for February 2022 is highlighted by one very interesting project.
Pam and Tommy is set to premiere on Feb. 2. Perhaps the Groundhog Day release date is intentional as the show will cover a particular moment of celebrity, sex, and exploitation from the early ’90s that seems to have repeated itself over and over. Sebastian Stan and Lily James star as Tommy Lee and Pamela Anderson and the series follows the events and fallout of their homemade sex tape being stolen and unleashed on a nascent internet. If nothing else, getting the promo photos of Stan and James as the ’90s stars was worth it.

The actress recalls her favorite memories from the film, including being terrified about working with Jeff Bridges
2006 was a golden year for young adult films: “Step Up,” “She’s the Man” and “John Tucker Must Die” to name a few. There was also “Stick It” starring Missy Peregrym as Haley Graham, a young gymnast rebelling against the sport and all it stands for as she recovers from how it traumatized her family. Today, “Stick It” turns 15 years old.
The film was directed by Jessica Bendinger, who was just coming off of writing “Bring It On.” Much like that movie, “Stick It” was cheeky and lovable, and over the years has carved out it’s own spot in the hearts of millennials. These days, you can watch Missy Peregrym still kicking butt, this time as an FBI agent in CBS’ “FBI,” but she still remembers playing Haley Graham quite clearly.

In honor of the women’s U.S soccer team beating out the Netherlands in Sunday’s World Cup Final, watch these inspiring female athletes bring their star-power to the silver-screen. From “Bring it On” to “Bend it Like Beckham,” we have you covered with movies that run the athletic gamut.
“Bring it On”
Two rival cheerleading squads duke it out in a teen flick fraught with routine theft, betrayal, romantic drama, and of course high flying cheer stunts. The movie delivers on its title’s promise — the girls of Rancho Carne and East Compton High indeed “bring it on.” Watch the young Kirsten Dunst and Gabrielle Union give starmaking performances in this cult classic.
“Bring it On Again”
The cheerleading sequel has graduated from high school drama to college campus drama. With an entirely new cast and plotline, the followup still maintains the cheer squad battles that made its predecessor so entertaining.

The Wesen-o’-the-week in this week’s Grimm is a three-eyed, three-armed baby eater.
And he’s a good guy.
While watching the hour, you definitely get a sense that the NBC supernatural drama has loosened the reins in its sixth and final season — and that’s a great thing.
After last week’s joyfully slapstick hour, this week’s installment makes light of the fact that a creature known as “El Cuegle” snacks on infants (no, seriously) at the same time that the episode raises — and, in an uncharacteristic move for the series,...

Well, co-creator Steven Moffat called Sunday’s Sherlock “the darkest one we’ve ever done”… and he wasn’t kidding, was he?
Season 4’s second episode, “The Lying Detective,” got incredibly grim at times, thanks to philanthropist-turned-killer Culverton Smith, played by Toby Jones. But it also gave us a much-needed truce between Sherlock and John after last week’s unpleasantness… and a last-minute twist that could have huge implications for the legendary sleuth going forward.
Let’s take a closer look at what transpired in “The Lying Detective”:

So. That happened.
After watching Frequency Season 1 Episode 5, it's easy to see why it was a no brainer to move it around the schedule and to play it against the Cma awards and the potential final game of the World Series.
Well done, CW, well done.
Because "Seven Three" could be skipped on the DVD set with a brief montage highlighting what we already know about Stan and adding in a few sweet scenes featuring a grumpy Raimy and her proud daddy.
I mean, geez, we've seen Raimy grumpy. She's been Grumpy Gus since her world was turned upside down with the ham. But when she started out as a rookie police officer? A smile would have been nice.
In either timeline, it would have been something for her to just give it up and enjoy the moment. Wasn't this her dream?
Frank: Slow down. We're not going to help...

The Five Deadly Venoms is a martial arts classic, that comes with one of the best opening sequences we've seen...
You don't need to do much more than whisper "I had five pupils..." to send shivers up the spines of most martial arts fans. It's a line that kicks off one of the most dazzling opening sequences in the history of cinema, as the dying Master of the Poison Clan explains to his sixth and final pupil that there were five more before him, each trained in a unique fighting style.
The Five Deadly Venoms wear masks that hide their identity and represent their particular style. There's the Centipede, the Snake, the Scorpion, the Lizard and the Toad, and the ways in which they fight draw from each animal's characteristics. As the Master explains, Centipede and Snake know one another's identity, as do Lizard and Toad. None of the others know Scorpion.

It would have been hard to make a bad film out of a story and soundtrack as vital and compelling as Nwa's Straight Outta Compton, the riotous 1989 rap record that didn't so much break the charts and shape a genre as part-raze a city and throw a big, dirty spotlight on a country divided.
Stick it on now and it'll still blow away most things you've had on your stereo this year. Its anger tells its own story, visual accompaniment not necessary.
Yet against a backdrop of police brutality, culminating in the infamous Lapd beating of taxi driver Rodney King that triggered the La riots, this self-dramatisation of the group's controversial and life-changing rise to fame and wealth, fuelling the ever-growing status of its stars Dr Dre and Ice Cube in the process, makes for an unlikely crowd-pleaser. It made $60m, more than double its budget, in its opening weekend in the Us.

Panel held yesterday on the “vision for the future and reform” of the festival in Seoul.
The Busan International Film Festival (Biff) held a general public hearing for the “vision for the future and reform” of the fest, led by a panel of directors Im Kwon-taek and Park Chan-wook, producer Jaime Shim, professor Min Byung-lock, producer/distributor Stanley Kwak and Biff director Lee Yong-kwan yesterday (March 10) in Seoul.
The hearing was held in part owing to a mandate from the Busan city mayor’s office that the festival create a proposal for reform ahead of its 20th anniversary. This was in response to a large-scale film industry backlash against the mayor’s request that Lee step down following the controversy of The Truth Shall Now Sink With The Sewol [see separate story here].
Panelists and observers deplored Busan City’s efforts to interfere with the festival’s programming, advised Biff stop taking government money if necessary, and criticized...

He’s never been one to keep his opinions to himself and George Clooney told Deadline that he’s pretty disappointed in the way the film industry handled bullying from the Guardians of Peace.
After Sony Pictures decided to pull “The Interview” from release, the “Ocean’s Thirteen” hunk weighed in on the whole ordeal.
George explained, "Here’s the brilliant thing they did. You embarrass them first, so that no one gets on your side. After the Obama joke, no one was going to get on the side of Amy, and so suddenly, everyone ran for the hills."
"Look, I can’t make an excuse for that joke. It is what it is, a terrible mistake. Having said that, it was used as a weapon of fear, not only for everyone to disassociate themselves from Amy but also to feel the fear themselves. They know what they themselves have written in their e-mails,...

George Clooney has claimed that Sony has made a "very dangerous" decision by cancelling the release of The Interview.
The actor told Deadline that he set up a petition for members of the industry to sign, so that they could stand up to the terror threat rather than comply with the demands set out.
He said that he has encouraged the studio to release the Seth Rogen comedy online as an act of defiance.
"I just talked to Amy [Pascal] an hour ago. She wants to put that movie out," he said. "My partner Grant Heslov and I had the conversation with her this morning. Bryan [Lourd] and I had the conversation with her last night. Stick it online. Do whatever you can to get this movie out.
"Not because everybody has to see the movie, but because I'm not going to be told we can't see the movie. That's the most important part.

OKCupid discourages Firefox, Bishop Robinson explains why Christians are not victims, baby elephant plays water polo
Lucas Entertainment was one of the last holdouts making only condom porn. Now they’ve gone condomless, and Michael Lucas provides an explanation why that’s worth reading. And he also thinks that activists have cause and effect backwards when it comes to bareback porn. “I don’t think that bareback porn has driven gay men to bareback sex; I think that the rise in bareback sex has driven the industry to bareback porn.”
If you go to the homepage of OKCupid using Firefox, you’ll get an interstitial telling you that they’d prefer you used another browser to access their product because the Mozilla CEO supported Prop 8. They then politely link you to alternative browser downloads before giving you a link to continue, if you must.

More-so than probably any other game I’ve played this year, Stick It to the Man! has a persistent atmosphere of pure weirdness. Be it the visual art style, the writing, the premise, and even the gameplay mechanics, this is a pretty goofy title. Don’t get me wrong, I mean all of that in a positive manner, because the game’s off-the-wall nature is ultimately part of its charm. An interesting fusion of 2D platformers and classic point-and-click adventures, this is a well-crafted title in almost every respect and it’s the latest indie must have.

Pitch Perfect; Seven Psychopaths; The Spirit of '45; I, Anna; May I Kill U?
"Aca-scuse me?" Variously pitched as "Glee with teeth" and "X Factor meets Mean Girls", Pitch Perfect (2012, Universal, 12) more closely resembles an anarchic mash-up of High School Musical and Best in Show, with a hint of Heathers and a smattering of Stick It thrown in for good measure. Anna Kendrick is the indie-spirited newbie at college where "organised nerd singing" is the new so-uncool-it's-cool sensation. From the moment we see the prim leader of the all-girl vocal group projectile-vomiting in the middle of an Ace of Bass tribute, you know this isn't going to be a well-behaved affair.
What follows is a tale of heats and heartbreaks, torment and Treblemakers, nobility and nodes ("they sit on your windpipe… and they crush your dreams"), a cheese-cutting satire which delivers a consistent spewy stream of laughs, screams and cackles.

Kellan Lutz: big-budget blockbuster leading man.
At least that's what we might say after learning the "Twilight" actor has signed on to play the title role in Nu Image/Millennium's upcoming "Hercules 3D," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Director Renny Harlin, whose films include "Die Hard 2," "The Long Kiss Goodnight" and "Exorcist: The Beginning," will begin shooting the $70 million Greek epic in May.
"It takes more than a good physique to portray the most legendary, mythological personality in history -- and Kellan has exactly that, personality," Harlin told The Hollywood Reporter. "He's not afraid to explore the strengths and vulnerabilities of the character, and he impressed me with his passion and heart."
Harlin calls this Lutz's "breakout role" and his "chance to shine as an actor." In keeping with his appearances in all five "Twilight" entries, Lutz's résumé includes a variety of teen-friendly flicks, including "Stick It," "Prom Night...
