Despite its age, the Dragon Ballfranchise continues to play a major role in the shonen genre, and with the release of blockbuster films like Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, the series is showing no signs of slowing down. Almost forty years after their debut, the Z Fighters are still among the most popular characters in anime history, including their iconic antihero, Vegeta.

Vegeta, the Prince of Saiyans and eternal rival of Goku, joins the Z Fighters after the group takes down Frieza; by the events of Dragon Ball Super, he's one of Earth's most important protectors. Since the dawn of Super, Vegeta has uttered several memorable quotes, many of which give life to his growth since being introduced to the Dragon Ball franchise.

Exclusive: New York-based cultural institution Villa Albertine and Unifrance have announced the selection of French features due to be showcased in the 10th edition of their joint Young French Cinema program.

The initiative aimed at promoting films in the U.S. by emerging French filmmakers without domestic distribution will showcase 11 titles this year.

They include Marie Amachoukeli’s Cannes Critics’ breakout Àma Gloria, Virginie Verrier’s female soccer pioneer bio-pic Marinette and Erwan Le Duc’s father and daughter tale No Love Lost.

Under the program, the titles are made available for booking by arthouse cinemas, film societies, the Alliance Française network and universities across the U.S.

“The program mainly focuses on rising talents, from high-profile independent works to impactful dramas and powerful documentaries about the world around us,” the partners said in a joint statement.

Metamorphosis (2007), by Hungarian director Jeno Hodi (responsible for such gems as Guns and Lipstick [1995]) and co-starring virtual unknowns Corey Sevier, Irena A. Hoffman, Jeniffer Higham and Charlie Hollway, is a straight-to-dvd release that is unlikely to last as long as the centuries-old bloodsucker at the centre of its story.

The Countess Elizabeth Bathory is a person of such infamy that even today her misdeeds are told in cinema and story. Bathory bathed in pheasants blood and is likely the most deadly serial killers of all time, with up to 600 deaths attributed to her name. Her exploits have been documented in at least a dozen films, with Metamorphosis one of the most recent (Moira). An interesting subject does not always transition to cinema, however. A review at the website Moira places Metamorphosis on the site's five worst films from 2007 and this review will not attempt to sway this objective and accurate critique of the film. To release on DVD August 24th, through Mti Home Video, Metamorphosis is dreary, uninspiring and there really is nothing here that has not been tried before.

Christopher Lambert (Highlander) will star in Metamorphosis, which will release on DVD through Mti Home Video on August 10th. The film hosts an assortment of vampires and "supernatural forces" as a group of backpackers travels the Carpathian Mountains (Romania). Expect Lambert to break out the trusty blades as Constantine in this Austrian shot film.

Back in April we brought word of an insane sounding project from director Jenö Hodi (American Kickboxer 2, Metamorphosis) called Endgame, which will combine the awesome artistic vision of Luis Royo with high octane, Hong Kong style action.

The plot involves a young mathematician who dies in a car crash and then finds himself a pawn in a cosmic game of chess among Greek Gods. But now, we've learned that the film will also incorporate a heavy section of Pa. Check it out, here's the latest synopsis for the film:

From a post-apocalyptic New York, to modern day Death Valley to the underworld of Greek mythology, a game has been played down through the centuries. This is Endgame, where fearless heroes and heroines are pitted against the demon armies of Hades.
