Morgan Freeman is surely one of the most recognizable actors working today — and work he does. While the man has an Oscar to his name and several truly memorable roles in his filmography, that filmography is ... extensive. Freeman churns out movies at about the same rate as, shall we say, Samuel L. Jackson or John Travolta, often lending his significant talent to projects other stars of his caliber wouldn't even consider.
That's not to knock the now 87-year-old, either. Often Freeman elevates these lesser titles simply by being a part of them. But there are a few movies that even the great Morgan Freeman can't save. Yes, for every "Million Dollar Baby" or "Shawshank Redemption" there's a truly bewildering stinker in the Freeman oeuvre that simply couldn't be rescued by the man's gravitas. 2014's "Transcendence," for instance, currently sports a shameful 19% on Rotten Tomatoes, while the "Has Fallen" trilogy can't...

It’s nearly been a year since Kevin Spacey was acquitted of all nine sexual offense charges in a U.K. criminal trial, and the two-time Oscar winner has publicly admitted that his career is still in the doldrums.
The two solitary projects of his that have released in the last 12 months — “Control” and “Peter Five Eight,” both low-budget indie features and far removed from the starry features he was leading before his glittering four-decade career imploded when allegations first emerged in 2017 — landed without much noise. In a tearful interview on “Piers Morgan Uncensored” in June, he claimed that he owed so “many millions” of dollars in legal fees that his house in the U.S had been foreclosed and he’d almost had to file for bankruptcy several times.
But while he may still be the highest profile actor effectively “canceled” by mainstream Hollywood in the wake of the #MeToo movement,...

Sharon Stone defends Kevin Spacey, says he's been "canceled" for offending men. Stone compares Spacey's situation to her own experiences with abuse in the industry. Stone says she too has been assaulted by prominent men in Hollywood, but none apologized like Spacey.
Academy Award nominee and Hollywood icon Sharon Stone has further defended disgraced actor Kevin Spacey, saying that he has been canceled by the industry because he offended men. Following her previous comments in favor of the actor, whose career came to a standstill after he was accused of sexual misconduct, Stone admits that Spacey grabbed many people by their genitals, but thinks the hammer has come down so hard on him because it was man-on-man.
"People are mad at me for that. I said that after being in therapy for seven years, not being allowed to work, losing his home, losing everything, he should be allowed to come back.

Kevin Spacey may not be back back, but he is indeed back, having been found not guilty in his 2023 sex offense trial. But that doesn’t mean he’s even close to being welcomed completely by Hollywood, an industry that Spacey says isn’t nearly as forgiving as it pretends to be.
Appearing on The Lex Fridman Podcast, Kevin Spacey said, “I live in an industry in which there is a tremendous amount of conversation about redemption, from a lot of people who are very serious people in very serious positions who believe in it. That guy who finally got out of prison who was wrongly accused…We see so many people saying, ‘Let’s find a path for that person. Let’s help that person rejoin society.’ But there is an odd situation if you are in the entertainment industry, you are not offered that kind of a path.

Back in 1967, The Beatles told us, “All You Need Is Love.” Back in 2004, writer Hiroshi Sakurazaka brought the world a novel called All You Need Is Kill, which served as the basis for the 2014 Tom Cruise sci-fi adventure Edge of Tomorrow… and I could understand why the title was changed for the movie, as All You Need Is Kill never sounded quite right to me. A better version would be All You Need Is Death – and that’s the title the makers of an upcoming folk horror movie have decided to use for their film, which is set to receive a VOD and limited theatrical release on April 11th. With that release date just a couple weeks away, a trailer for All You Need Is Death has arrived online, and you can check it out in the embed above.

Kevin Spacey will star as The Devil in The Contract, aiming to resurrect his acting career. Spacey has denied sexual misconduct allegations, returning to acting with last year's Control.
Controversial actor Kevin Spacey will star as The Devil himself in the upcoming thriller, The Contract. While it may be questionable PR, Spacey will star as The Devil for Italian filmmaker Massimiliano Caroletti, with the project reportedly the first of three movies in a series (via THR). Acclaimed and controversial actor Kevin Spacey lands his latest film role following his slew of legal troubles as he's set to star as The Devil in the upcoming Italian thriller, The Contract.
Per Variety, Spacey filmed his scenes as The Devil last December in The Contract, which recently wrapped principal photography in Rome. Massimo Paolucci, who served as a line producer in Dracula 3D, directs the English-language psychological thriller, with the flick being described as having a similar vibe to films such as Taylor Hackford's The Devil's Advocate and Alan Parker's Angel Heart. The Contract will also star Eric Roberts and Vincent Spano, with Italian-based company, Tm Entertainment, producing the feature-length project.

Kevin Spacey may have been found not guilty in his sex offenses trial last year, but he still might as well be The Devil as far as a lot of people are concerned – so it’s fitting that he does indeed play a version of The Devil in his latest project, the psychological thriller The Contract, which just wrapped production in Italy. Spacey’s character in the film directed by Massimo Paolucci is called The Devil, and the filmmakers told Variety that his role is along the lines of “Al Pacino’s in The Devil’s Advocate as Satan who takes the guise of a human lawyer, and that of Robert De Niro in Angel Heart, a Satanic businessman who hires a seedy gumshoe detective to descend into Hell.”
Details on the plot of the English-language film have not been revealed. Spacey is joined in the cast by Eric Roberts and Vincent Spano.

Kevin Spacey will appear as a character named “The Devil” in Italian director Massimo Paolucci’s psychological thriller “The Contract,” which just wrapped principal photography in Rome.
The English-language film, described in a statement as having a similar storyline as Alan Parker’s “Angel Heart” and Taylor Hackford’s “The Devil’s Advocate,” also stars Eric Roberts and Vincent Spano, Italian production company Tm Entertainment said.
Spacey arrived in Rome last December to shoot “The Contract.”
Reps for Spacey, Roberts and Spano did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The “House of Cards” star’s career imploded amid allegations of sexual misconduct in 2017, but he has since been found not liable in an October 2022 lawsuit brought by “Star Trek: Discovery” actor Anthony Rapp and was declared not guilty in a U.K. sexual assault trial in July 2023. Rockstar Games has acquired a team behind popular GTA Online mods, indicating a focus on expanding roleplaying experiences in GTA 6's multiplayer. The acquisition suggests that Rockstar wants to make GTA 6's multiplayer a more extensive and customizable experience, potentially allowing console players to enjoy mods previously limited to PC. The inclusion of roleplaying in GTA 6 could provide a more immersive and extensive game world, merging the maps of GTA Online and GTA 6 and offering the full, massive GTA experience they've been waiting for.
Rockstar Games has ensured that Grand Theft Auto 6's multiplayer will be better than GTA Online with a recent acquisition of a talented modding team. There's no doubt that GTA Online has been a huge success for Rockstar, and its immense profits over the decade are likely what has allowed the company to have so much time to work on the highly anticipated GTA 6. NxWorries, the R&b and alt hip-hop duo made of Anderson .Paak and Knxwledge, are back with a new single “Daydreaming.” It comes with an accompanying music video that takes place in the Grand Theft Auto universe, using .Paak’s actual character from GTA Online’s The Contract.
“Daydreaming” is a wistful, hypnotic love song putting .Paak in the character of a lovelorn Romeo over Knxwledge’s sensual beat. The video places .Paak and his love interest in a milder-than-usual GTA scenario, with an interesting twist at the end.
NxWorries are set to release an album later in the year, and they’re hitting the road for their inaugural run of dates in the UK and Europe with slots at Primavera Sound Barcelona, Madrid, and Portugal, Parklife in Manchester, and We Love Green in Paris, among others. Get tickets for NxWorries’ tour through Viagogo.

Nowadays the entertainment world is awash in sequels, prequels, reboots, and franchises in general. So what makes the so-called "Carlotta Trilogy" any different? First, the short film series by Finnish filmmaker Chrzu (Nightsatan and the Loops of Doom) stars his drag queen alter ego Carlotta; I may have missed something, but I don't think Disney, Fox, Marvel or DC have done that yet. Second, these are films that make the most of their (admittedly limited) financial resources. They are hand-crafted and carefully orchestrated, even though the on-screen results are wild, colorful and completely uninhibited. If you have already seen the first installment, The Contract, featured in its entirety here in the past, then you have some idea of what to expect. Now we are pleased...

So this is happening, and I guess you better just just deal with it. The story of "Bonnie & Clyde," immortalized in Arthur Penn's iconic 1967 film, is now being told again by Bruce Beresford ("Peace, Love & Misunderstanding," "Mao's Last Dancer" and "The Contract") with Emile Hirsch and Holliday Grainger as the outlaws. The results? Well, see for yourself below. A two-part, miniseries production between A&E, Lifetime and History, the budget looks certainly small screen—HBO this isn't. And really, it doesn't make much of a case for standing on its own outside of the movie we already know. That being said, we like the leads, and with Holly Hunter and William Hurt in support, we suppose this might get a watch out of morbid curiosity from our end. "Bonnie & Clyde" arrives on your TV on Sunday, December 8th and Monday, December 9th at 9 Pm. Watch below. [Deadline]...

If I could get dime every time Bruce Beresford's name was attached to a project, I'd have made at least a buck in the last decade. Just recently mentioned as the person who'd be taking the director's chair in Enchantress Of Numbers - the tale of the first female computer geek before computers were invented -- it now seems as if that gig is doubtful for anytime soon, as the filmmaker has landed a generational dramedy featuring the rarely seen Jane Fonda taking on some acting work and would be paired along with Catherine Keener. - If I could get dime every time Bruce Beresford's name was attached to a project, I'd have made at least a buck in the last decade. Production Weekly reports that Bruce Beresford will direct Peace, Love & Misunderstanding in NY this July. Set on a rural farm, this is about three generations of women in one family: the grandmother (Fonda), mother (Keener), and daughter - which should be cast sometime soon. André Fleuren, Bereford's Dp on Evelyn, has also boarded the project.

The idea hit me first when I was watching John Cusack in 2012. Yes, it was weird that the actor had lent himself to a role that required him to shout and fake-drive a lot against blue screen, but what was stranger was that even his barely sketched character seemed cribbed from his recent films: he played a limo driver, as he did in Identity, and an author, as in 1408 and Martian Child, who tried to bond with his estranged progeny by taking them on a trip, kinda like in The Contract and Grace Is Gone. But, sufficiently mindblown by 2012's spectacle and moments of giraffe emotion, I forgot about the seeming sameness. That was, until this week's Hot Tub Time Machine.

It’s hard to a fault a movie that features Christopher Walken, Morgan Freeman, and William H. Macy in key roles, even if it does look like yet another wacky heist movie featuring actors who are capable of better things. Peter Hewitt’s 2009 crime comedy “The Maiden Heist” certainly has potential, but after watching the trailer, I’m not entirely sold on the idea. I used to be able to trust Morgan Freeman, that is, until I properly investigated both “The Contract” and “The Code,” two films that are the very definition of mediocre. What’s more, it’s from the guy who directed that terrible live-action “Garfield” flick. Yikes. Perhaps “The Maiden Heist” suffers from a lackluster trailer, one that degrades the film’s overall quality. Then again, maybe not. Here’s what it’s all about: A comedy centered on three museum security guards who devise a plan...

The Contractby Peter Dimako, Editor Blu-ray Review: Surprisingly enough, I found this a tad better the second time around on Blu-ray disc. Unfortunately, the features are very limited. I do however love the menu layout that sits on top of scenes playing away from the film. Obviously these are the ones that offer the most action of the film. Still, I find that there could have been a lot more done performance-wise and in terms of the screenplay. For the original review of the film, please see below. For those unfamiliar with the film, here’s the story: While on a hiking trip to reconnect with his son after the death of his wife, Ray Keene (John Cusack) stumbles into a nightmare scenario of paid assassins and ex-military guns-for-hire. Frank Cardin (Morgan Freeman) is attempting to fulfill a contract to assassinate a high profile businessman when things go arwy and...
