Could have been a masterpiece...

The climax is extremely powerful and forces one to overlook the holes in the story which is lifted from quite a few sources. It is sad to see that not much importance is given to developing situations and Salman-Kareena's romance is restricted to a song which is totally out of sync with the spirit of the movie. It could have been more emotional. The songs are good and so is the background score. The look and feel of the film is excellent. Performances of all the lead actors are good. Salman's performance is extremely endearing and straight from the heart. Not sure if he will win an award or not (he does not seem to have luck as far as awards go) but kudos to him for accepting a role so different and portraying it so sensitively.

Shah Rukh Khan was the original choice for Anand's role . It was planned as a romantic comedy with Aishwarya and Kareena. Later Salman signed the lead role and Kareena was bumped into the lead role. She was previously doing Rimi Sen's role.

Goofs
