Max has the biggest lineup of DC superhero movies—here’s everything you need to know.
When “The Batman” dropped back in 2022, I was pleasantly surprised. It was dark, stylish, and everything you’d want in a fresh take on Gotham’s protector. Robert Pattinson proved he has the chops to handle the pressure of playing one of the most famous superheroes of all time, bringing a brooding intensity that made the film feel like a detective noir wrapped in a blockbuster. But “The Batman” is just the continuation of Warner Bros. (and now Max) long history with the DC universe of superheroes, from the entire Justice League saga to Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy to animated classics. If you’re looking for the best streamer to binge the biggest DC superhero movies, it’s definitely Max.

The following contains spoilers for Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League, now available on digital.
One of the most intriguing aspects of Marvel and DC has been both companies dabbling in the anime medium in the past. DC, in particular, impressed fans with 2018's Batman Ninja. This movie dealt with Batman and the Bat-family being transported across space-time to a feudal era of Japan. There, they had to fight anime versions of the Bat-rogues.
Batman Ninja ended with the masterminds, Joker and Harley, being arrested. Batman used the device known as the Quake Engine to send them back home. Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League picks up right where that story left off. Once again, the Bat-family faces new iterations of enemies; this time they're the Yakuza League. It builds to an explosive ending that shows once more how valuable the concept of unity is.

Though acclaimed composer Hans Zimmer is synonymous with crafting music for the directors of several high-profile directors, his work alongside Oscar-winning director Christopher Nolan remains among the most recognized throughout his career. Though Zimmer holds no hard feelings towards Nolan years after their creative breakup, he admits the prominent filmmaker feels like "life or death."
Speaking with Deadline, Zimmer addressed his long-time working relationship with Nolan, who he collaborated with on seven feature films, including The Dark Knight trilogy and Interstellar. Zimmer and Nolan's creative partnership ended when Zimmer passed on composing music for Tenet in favor of Denis Villeneuve's Dune, initially causing friction between them before they patched things up. Zimmer confirmed the two remain "good friends" and hasn't ruled out a reunion for a future project. However, Zimmer admitted working with him was a “life or death situation … our relationship has always been like this.”

There have been a lot of rough DC Comics movies but which ones are truly the worst of the worst?
DC started early on the superhero movie trend with 1978’s Superman and later 1989’s Batman. However, despite successes like Wonder Woman and Aquaman, the Dceu faltered compared to the MCU. Somehow, Warner Bros and DC couldn’t make it all work right and it all came to a lame ending.
There have been some pretty poor to outright bad movies based on DC Comics such as Batman v Superman or The Flash. However, there are several films that stand out for how truly awful they are and leave us thinking they shouldn't have happened. They waste great casts and story potential while also being just flat-out terrible movies.
Here are how the ten worst DC Comics movies rank and marvel (no pun intended) on how badly they botched these characters.

Hans Zimmer redefined heroism and epic music for a generation. Hence, it is sort of odd to listen to him being apprehensive about working on superhero films. After delivering incredible scores for The Lion King and Gladiator, he ushered in a new era of superhero music that was different from the John Williams and Danny Elfman school of thought.
Despite working with Christopher Nolan on The Dark Knight trilogy, Zimmer chose to not work with the MCU. He has instead worked on some of the non-mcu titles such as The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Dark Phoenix. The legend of epic scores reportedly never wanted to compose for superheroes but Nolan convinced him.

Hans Zimmer is one of the most recognizable film composers of all time, having worked on several acclaimed movies and blockbusters. Zimmer has won five Grammy Awards and two Oscars, which have cemented his place as one of the GOATs. However, even Zimmer isn’t immune to new challenges when composing film music.

During an interview, Zimmer discussed working with frequent collaborator Christopher Nolan. The composer revealed that Nolan had given him one task for the music of Interstellar that proved to be nearly impossible even for him. However, the task only made the music impeccable, and here is what Zimmer had to say about scoring Interstellar.

Warner Bros. has made some changes to its release calendar. Among the movies receiving new release dates is Maggie Gyllenhaal's The Bride!, which features Christian Bale as Frankenstein's Monster.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. has pushed The Bride! back almost six months, moving the monster movie out of 2025 completely and into the first quarter of 2026. Instead of Sept. 26, 2025, The Bride! will now open in theaters on March 6, 2026. The other five movies from the studio that saw their release dates change include Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another, which is moving back from Aug. 8 into The Bride!'s old Sept. 16 release spot. Zach Cregger's hotly-anticipated Barbarian follow-up Weapons is moving up several months, from Jan. 11, 2026, to the now-open Aug. 8, 2025, spot, while the animated The Cat in the Hat movie and David Robert Mitchell’s Flowervale Street are now set to hit theaters on Feb. 27, 2026 and Aug.

There are certain roles that can change the course of an actor's life. Few of them are quite as big as that of James Bond. The iconic MI6 spy has been a staple of cinema for more than 60 years, dating back to Sean Connery's debut as 007 in "Dr. No." Every actor, save for George Lazenby, has been catapulted to another level of stardom due to their involvement in the "James Bond" franchise. As a result, it's tough to imagine an up-and-coming actor turning the role down. Yet, that's exactly what Christian Bale did.
In the early 2000s, Bale was very much one of Hollywood's most promising stars. From "American Psycho" to "The Machinist," the actor was earning high praise for his deep commitment to various roles. That's probably why the "James Bond" producers, namely Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson,...

Fans have been anxiously waiting for Batman's return to the big screen. With Matt Reeves' The Batman Part II not coming out till 2027 and the Dcu’s The Brave and the Boldstill without a release window, it's going to be a long couple of years for The Dark Knight. However, that doesn't mean DC’s most popular hero isn't being represented in other mediums. The character’s mainline comic series is about to relaunch with a new #1 later this year and Batman: Caped Crusader is currently in production on its second season. While we wait for all that to leave the Batcave, McFarlane Toys continues to hold us over with their beloved DC figures. Now, in their latest release, Batman is taking on one of his toughest foes.

In 2008, The Dark Knight was released to critical and commercial acclaim, with the late and great Heath Ledger putting his all into becoming The Joker in a way that defined the character for an entire generation and beyond. In a new cosplay of the Clown Prince of Crime, “Nurse Joker” gets a movie-accurate design that needs a proper comic debut, whether it be in official DC Comics canon or somewhere else in the company’s sprawling multiverse.
Posted on Reddit’s r/DCcomics channel by u/thechancellorj, this creator doesn’t have too many homemade costumes under his belt just yet, but with the way this Nurse Joker look came together, it shouldn’t take much for u/thechancellorj to make the jump to becoming a consistent member of the cosplay community.

Though "The Dark Knight" is obviously the more successful of the Christopher Nolan movies, and one of the 100 best movies of all time according by our standards, some believe it's not the best Batman movie Nolan made. That honor could go to "Batman Begins," a movie that feels more like a comic book movie than a James Bond story, a movie with fantastic production design that doesn't just look like New York City or Chicago. Instead, the film introduces Kowloon-inspired slum district of the Narrows that has become a big part of Batman mythos. "Batman Begins" also has one of the best Bat-suits in film and some incredible visuals in its recreations of all-time great scenes from Frank Miller's "Batman: Year One."

Léon: The Professionalstar Gary Oldman reveals that his iconic "Everyone!" line delivery was never intended to make the final cut of the movie. Released in 1994, director Luc Besson's action thriller stars Jean Reno as Léon, an assassin who takes the 12-year-old Mathilda (Natalie Portman) under his wing after her family is murdered. Oldman plays Léon: The Professional's main villain, Stansfield, a corrupt and violent DEA agent. One of the most iconic lines of Oldman's career comes when he demands that a subordinate bring him "everyone" as backup before he then repeats the word in an exaggerated yell.
During a recent interview on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Oldman reveals that his shouting delivery of the word "everyone" was actually intended as a joke for Besson. The actor recalls wanting to make the director laugh on one particular take, but then the moment ended up in the final cut of the movie.

If you’re a fan of cinema, you’ll know the name Christopher Nolan. The director is one of the very few modern filmmakers who still gets to bring bold, creative visions to life on a blockbuster scale. The reigning champ of the intellectual box office hit, Nolan has enjoyed a storied career in Hollywood thanks to his consistency in producing pulse-pounding cinema that also has the capacity to make you think. His obsession with the theme of time, invisible special effects, and multi-layered plot structures have dazzled film viewers for decades at this point.
Nolan studied English Literature, believe it or not, at University College London. While at university, he was the president of the Film Society and met his wife and future producing partner, Emma Thomas, on campus. His first feature film was 1998’s “Following,” but his career really took off with the groundbreaking “Memento” (2000). The Guy Pearce...

Leave it to a TV commercial to give DC fans the most comic-accurate version of Batman and his rogues gallery of all time. State Farm's "Batman vs. Bateman" spot saw Jason Bateman play a second-rate knock-off of The Dark Knight, while the real Batman patrolled Gotham City cleaning up after him. The ad also included The Joker, The Riddler, Catwoman, and Two-Face, among many others, giving them more comic-accurate designs than most past DC movies. While Bateman didn't hide behind the cowl when "fighting" crime in Gotham, the real Batman remained a mystery... until now.

Sharing her work on the viral advertisement, Till confirmed that this version of Batman was played by Nicholas Hayner. How Was Gary Oldman Convinced That Christopher Nolan Is A Great Director? (Photo Credit – Prime Video)
Gary Oldman is widely regarded as one of the finest actors of his generation. When Christopher Nolan came up on stage to receive his first Golden Globe, he called actor Cillian Murphy (who would soon get up on stage to receive one for Best Actor) his partner-in-crime for twenty years. That says nearly everything about the relationship between the two stalwarts of their craft.
Nolan and Murphy have worked on six films over the past twenty years, beginning with, well as the name suggests, Batman Begins. While the ace filmmaker has worked with several genius actors of this generation such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Christian Bale, and Robert Downey Jr., he reportedly called Murphy the greatest of his generation.

The Dark Knight trilogy actor Gary Oldman recalls the note Christopher Nolan gave him that is one of the best he's received in his career. Coming off of successes like Memento (2000) and Insomnia (2002), Nolan entered the world of comic book adaptations with Batman Begins in 2005. Christian Bale played the role of Batman, aka Bruce Wayne, throughout Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy, with Oldman playing a prominent role as ally Jim Gordon, who eventually becomes Police Commissioner in The Dark Knight (2008).
During a recent interview with The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Oldman recalls that filming one scene for The Dark Knight trilogy resulted in Nolan giving him one of the best notes he has ever received from a director. The note was surprisingly simple, with the director simply telling Oldman that there is more at stake for Gordon in the scene in question. Check out Oldman and Colbert's exchange below:

Sick of multiverses yet? Too bad, DC and Warner Brothers are banking on it. Based on the freshest reports, DC Studios' creative chief James Gunn is counting on fan loyalty to float two concurrent Bruce Wayne timelines. How is that going to work? Nobody knows yet, not even the people in charge. Is Gotham City big enough for two Batmans? Or is it Batmen?
WB is not averse to betting it all. On a losing streak at the moment, they've reached the logical endpoint of the Dceu, an exhausted brand, run by a company that has found itself shooting blanks, overextended, and facing financial doldrums thanks to years of bungled IPs and acquisitions. In our many interviews with actors who have played villains over the years, a common through line is something to the effect of, "You know, sometimes it's just more fun to play the bad guy." It's indeed a non-issue for some of your favorite performers if you end up rooting for their nemeses in certain movies. And sometimes, the villain even gets top billing over the hero. Just look at some of the Batman flicks that have been released in decades past. Arnold Schwarzenegger was billed over George Clooney in Batman and Robin, and years earlier, Jack Nicholson was listed No. 1 over Michael Keaton in Tim Burton's 1989 film version of the Caped Crusader.
Speaking of Jack Nicholson, his son Ray Nicholson has also been getting his hands dirty as the on-screen villain in a pair of recent films, both of which hit theaters this week. Novocaine sees Jack Quaid playing an everyman,...

Jon Bernthal is one of the greatest - and most underrated - actors working today. Best known for playing The Punisher among comic book fans, the Daredevil: Born Again star has delivered stellar performances in everything from The Bear to The Wolf of Wall Street and The Many Saints of Newark.
Now, he's geared up for Christopher Nolan's new movie The Odyssey. This retelling of the epic poem composed by Homer in the 8th Century also stars the McU's Spider-Man, Tom Holland, and both actors have been spotted in costume today.
While we believe the latter is playing Telemachus, the son of Odysseus, after some other recent images, there's no word on who Bernthal might be bringing to life in the fantasy epic.
We're used to seeing Bernthal with a beard, but the bald head is new and he certainly wouldn't be mistaken for Frank Castle right now. Daredevil: Born Again...

State Farm has never disappointed when it comes to making unique advertisements. Well, this time, too, they have outdone themselves and even Zack Snyder’s Dceu with their Batman vs. Bateman commercial. Starring actor Jason Bateman as Bateman, the commercial also features some of the DC world’s most iconic villains, making it a whole lot more memorable.

Except for John Williams, it's hard for a film composer to reach household name status, but it's safe to proclaim that Hans Zimmerhas successfully done so. After being a steady film composer in the 1980s and 1990s, working on films from a variety of genres, including Rain Man, True Romance, The Lion King, The Thin Red Line, and Gladiator, Zimmer ostensibly became the soundtrack for the archetypal modern blockbusters thanks to his work on most of Christopher Nolan's films, notably The Dark Knight trilogy, and revolutionizing the art of film scores for Denis Villeneuve's Duneseries. Someone of his caliber could have elevated the longest-running franchise of the last 20 years — the Marvel Cinematic Universe — into something more epic, but he has his eyes set elsewhere. To be completely honest, I don't blame him, as even he has outshined the scope of the MCU.

Fresh images from the set of ‘The Odyssey’ have hit the web, and they’re giving us a peek at something big. Director Christopher Nolan and actor Tom Holland were spotted working together, bringing Homer’s ancient epic to life.
The movie, slated for release on July 17, 2026, has already locked in a massive cast and a hefty budget, and these new shots are only fueling the excitement.
Nolan’s tackling one of the oldest stories around – the tale of Odysseus, the Greek hero fighting to get home after the Trojan War. It’s a wild journey packed with monsters, gods, and plenty of drama.

Did the Suicide Squad director have issues with Jared Leto’s Joker?(Photo Credit –Facebook)

There are few superheroes as powerful as Batman. Yes, we're aware that he doesn't have any super powers, but the Caped Crusader has endured some of the toughest challenges in his near-century on the pages of DC Comics, the silver screen in our movie theaters, the small one in our homes, and the interactive adventures in our video games. He has also gone toe-to-toe with some of the most powerful beings in the galaxy, surviving every close encounter, withstanding all the attacks thrown his way and returning them in spades.
"Because he's Batman" isn't just a catchphrase; it's a way of life that the Dark Knight lives by, allowing him to overcome the most overwhelming of challenges and live to fight (crime) another day. And the heroes who join him in the Justice League - supernatural, mythical warriors like Superman and Wonder Woman - are constantly in awe of his resilience,...

As Christopher Nolan gears up for his next big-budget mythic action epic The Odyssey, it is interesting to note his journey from being an independent filmmaker with a $6,000 budget. The filmmaker has long been a proponent for theatrical viewing of cinema and has constantly promoted 70mm IMAX screenings for his own films.
However, with streaming becoming a staple for every household, movie theatres seem to be dying out, with only a few filmmakers getting exclusive windows before streaming. Nolan has long criticized Hollywood’s model for streaming, but there is another point of view that defends streaming and the opportunities it provides.

Hans Zimmer has voiced his frustration with the Academy’s decision to disqualify his Dune: Part Two score from Oscars consideration, calling the rule behind the ruling “stupid.” Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast with Josh Horowitz, the composer explained why he disagrees with the decision but does not see it as a personal slight.

It’s just such a stupid point—how can it be a sore point?” Zimmer said. “I got disqualified because I was using material from the first movie in the second movie, but it’s not a sequel. It is the completion, both movies are one arc.” He questioned whether he was supposed to remove all character themes and create entirely new ones rather than expanding on the established music.

Reacher star Alan Ritchson has revealed that he doesn't think his Hunger Games character's death looked very realistic. Ritchson portrayed the villainous Gloss in Catching Fire.
In an interview with Wired, Ritchson answered some of the web's most searched questions about himself, which included talking about his Hunger Games: Catching Fire character. "I was the guy that slit that little old lady's throat," Ritchson said when asked about Gloss, going on to explain his character originally had a different ending. "Actually, I took an arrow to the face. So, I played it like it was to the face. And then, I think they decided in post that was a little too gruesome to take an arrow to the face by Katniss, so they changed it to my chest."
While audiences may have seen Gloss taking an arrow to the chest, Ritchson insisted that wasn't the way he acted out the scene when filming.

The "Bat-embargo." If you're a fan of the classic DC Animated Universe (Dcau), the words probably feel like a chill in the night. If you're not, then let me explain.
See, DC Comics can be fickle about which of its characters can appear on television, and where. During the 2000s, this mostly impacted Batman and his supporting cast. Kevin Conroy's Batman was a regular on "Justice League Unlimited," which aired alongside the unconnected cartoon "The Batman," and Christopher Nolan's "Batman Begins" marked the return of the Dark Knight after his 1990s silver screen fall.
Reportedly, then-dc Comics President Paul Levitz was worried that kids would be confused about all of these Batmen. How would they be able to tell multiple versions of the same characters apart when they were all appearing at the same time? Hence, the Bat-embargo came into effect around 2004 (when "The Batman" debuted and "Justice League...

Zack Snyder is one of the most impactful directors of recent times. With blockbuster movies like The Watchmen, 300 and more under his belt, he is no less than a pioneer in the world of action and superhero films. As such, getting to work with someone like him would excite anyone.

However, it could be equally nerve-wracking for some as well. That is exactly what happened with Oscar-winning musician Hans Zimmer when he got a chance to work with Snyder in Man of Steel.
What is surprising, though, is that Zimmer has previously worked in movies like Gladiator, and The Dark Knight with directors that are hailed as one of a kind as well. However, collaborating with Zack Snyder left him freaking out for months for a specific reason.

Like any other story, music has always played an integral role in many great superhero movies over the years, whether it was Danny Elfman’s output on Batman or John Williams’ work on Superman. Given the impact of Elfman’s work on the Caped Crusader, Christopher Nolan’s reinterpretation of the character had some big boots to fill, and fortunately, he didn’t disappoint.

Not only did both Hans Zimmer and James Newton absolutely nail the score for Batman Begins, but the former further elevated his game in the sequel, especially with one particular theme. As for the process behind it, Zimmer confessed to making Nolan listen to almost 10,000 bars of music during the latter’s flight from Hong Kong to London.
