Mayor of Kingstown Season 3, Episode 7, "Marya Was Here" is the Paramount+ show's toughest episode to stomach since the Season 1 prison riot. It's an episode that goes well beyond the series' usual grim plot points into something universally cruel, and on top of that, it destroys one of the show's best relationships. While terrible things happen all the time in Kingstown, they're rarely as brutal as this.

"Marya Was Here" centers around a piece of information that Iris gave Mike earlier: that the Russians are trafficking a group of young women into the United States. The title is a reference to one of them, as young Marya writes that phrase on the back of a bus seat shortly before she and everyone else aboard are murdered.

Donald Sutherland was the award-winning thespian who has starred in dozens of titles throughout his career before his death on June 20, 2024. Let’s take a look back at 16 of his greatest films, ranked worst to best.

Despite decades of acclaimed work, the Canadian-born star has yet to earn an Oscar nomination, though he did receive an honorary statuette for his body of work in 2017. Kiefer Sutherland took to social media to remember his late father, the legendary actor Donald Sutherland, who died on June 20 at 88 years old after a long illness. The “24” and “The Lost Boys” actor remembered his father as a performer who loved his craft and an actor who was one of Hollywood’s most important stars.

“With a heavy heart, I tell you that my father, Donald Sutherland, has passed away,” Kiefer wrote in a statement on his social media platforms. “I personally think one of the most important actors in the history of film. Donald Sutherland, the tall, lean and long-faced Canadian actor who became a countercultural icon with such films as “The Dirty Dozen,” “Mash,” “Klute” and “Don’t Look Now,” and who subsequently enjoyed a prolific and wide-ranging career in films including “Ordinary People,” “Without Limits” and the “Hunger Games” films, died Thursday in Miami after a long illness, CAA confirmed. He was 88.

For over a half century, the Emmy and Golden Globe-winning actor, who received an honorary Oscar in 2017, memorably played villains, antiheroes, romantic leads and mentor figures. His profile increased in the past decade with his supporting role as the evil President Snow in “The Hunger Games” franchise.

Most recently, he appeared as Judge Parker on the series “Lawmen: Bass Reeves” and in the “Swimming With Sharks” series in 2022. His other recent recurring roles include the series “Undoing” and “Trust,” in which he played J. Paul Getty, and features “Ad Astra” and “The Burnt-Orange Heresy.

This November, after three full years of waiting, fans of FX’s “Fargo” will be treated to a brand new season. Unlike the anthology series’ fourth iteration, which served as a prequel to its first two, the upcoming fifth batch of episodes will tell an entirely original Midwestern crime story. Leading the season’s star-studded cast is Jon Hamm, who has his sights set on earning his first Best TV Movie/Limited Series Actor Golden Globe nomination this winter. Since he was already honored in the corresponding drama series category for “Mad Men” in 2008 and 2016, his possible new victory would make him the seventh man to clinch Golden Globes for performances on both continuing and non-continuing TV programs.

Hamm, who picked up four additional Golden Globe bids for “Mad Men” between 2009 and 2013, has already begun his splashy 2023 return to prestige TV by playing a new supporting role on the third season of “The Morning Show.

Muse Entertainment Enterprises has tapped film and TV vet Alex Jordan to serve as its new senior VP of production. Jordan, who starts on January 1, will be based in Toronto and focus on producing programming for the international market.

Jordan most recently served as a producer on Paramount Plus’ “Mayor of Kingstown.” He also worked on feature “Between Waves,” which was released this summer. His other credits include working on series such as “Nikita,” “Transporter,” “Rogue” and “Private Eyes.”

“Alex has a track record of producing great shows, and I look forward to having such a respected and talented leader in our Toronto operation,” said Irene Litinsky, Muse Entertainment’s president of production.

This week, Washington, D.C., made headlines as the city’s Metropolitan Police Department recently began tweeting out missing-person reports — with an alarming number of them for young black women and Latinas.

Though officials have insisted that the numbers reflect only the fact that the department recently started using social media to help close cases, many have voiced concern that the numbers reflect a much larger problem in how commonly people of color go missing, both in the nation’s capital and around the country, as well as over serious gaps in media coverage of these cases as opposed to those about white people.

When private investigator Bill Garcia heard Keith’s account of seeing his wife Sherri for the first time after her release by captors, Garcia thought immediately the abduction was the work of sex traffickers.

“I literally got the chills. I know who it is, I know who did this,” Gracia, who worked with Papini’s family while Sherri was missing, tells People.

A private investigator and veteran human trafficking expert believes California mom Sherri Papini‘s case has the hallmarks of sex trafficking.

In a sit-down with The Today Show, Bill Garcia, who was hired by Papini’s family during the 22 days she was missing, told the show, “I suspect based in the types of injuries Sherri incurred, the beatings, the broken nose, the cut hair, especially the chains and the branding, indicate that most likely it was one of these sex trafficking groups.”

The top prosecutor in Ingham County, Michigan, was arrested Monday for allegedly patronizing prostitutes hundreds of times in a five-year period, People confirms. The top prosecutor in Ingham County, Michigan, was arrested Monday for allegedly patronizing prostitutes hundreds of times in a five-year period, People confirms. The arrest of Stuart Dunnings III came after a 2015 investigation into a Michigan-based human trafficking ring Dunnings himself worked on that allegedly turned up evidence against him. In a statement obtained by People, the Orange County Human Trafficking Task Force says it teamed with detectives in Fresno on Friday to investigate a tip about a runaway girl. That joint operation led investigators to a hotel in Anaheim, where, the press statement claims, they saved a 17-year-old girl from alleged kidnappers. Based on the international bestselling novel by Patricia McCormick, Sold tells the story of an extraordinary thirteen-year-old girl who is trafficked across the Nepal-India border and forced to work in a brothel in Kolkata, India.

Educating a child to the age of 16 reduces their risk of being trafficked by 80%. Kim Longinotto-directed film follows a former prostitute’s efforts to end the sexual exploitation of at-risk youth

Showtime acquired the rights to “Dreamcatcher” on Thursday, a documentary about a former prostitute’s efforts to curb human trafficking and to prevent the sexual exploitation of at-risk youth. The deal was announced before its Jan. 25 world premiere at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival.
