Once you watch the opening musical sequence you know that this is not going to be an ordinary film (whatever that is). It sets you up for the movie to come, which is comical, over-the-top, nostalgic and just a good time.
Ms. Wissoff is trying to make a point and does so beautifully with her bigger-than-life, outrageous characters and colorful, Bollywood-style design. It was like stepping back in time to the likes of I LOVE YOU ALICE B. TOKLAS -- only with music added.
I can definitely see this film gaining a cult following if enough people see it.

This is a cute rendition of the state of Eastern philosophy, after having been melt down to a hysterical conclusion.
The characters are exceedingly plentiful with a full array of assorted weirdness's.
The music is as complex and varied as the range of emotions that are displayed at an alarming rate.
The ukulele is used as well as the sitar to great effect.
I liked the blind man in particular, and would like to see a sequel featuring him.
All in all, I have to scream out Hari Truman!

This is a wonderfully creative and imaginative film. The characters are outrageous and over the top in a Rocky Horror (Cult Classic) kind of way. Carol Sirugo is charming as Karma. The movie has a John Waters meets Charles Ludlam kind of feel. It definitely has that "Theatre of the Ridiculous" flavor. It's campy, larger than life and extremely funny.
I really got a kick out of the puppets and poetry. Some of the poems where so outlandish, I found myself hysterically laughing. Super soundtrack and great costumes! Kudos for pushing the envelope and creating a risky, unique and entertaining independent film.

This is a hilarious movie, was a real treat to see. Have to recommend it to anyone that loves a good comedy or even a good laugh. Improv is always fun but it's brought to a new level here, the cast has strengths that when combined provide such a curious mixture... well you just have to see it for yourself!
It's always great to see an independent director or producer make something with real texture and feeling and this movie brings it all.
Jill is very talented and she brought in so many great characters to Creating Karma. Haven't laughed like that in years. Thanks for making it and we can't wait for the sequel! Keep shooting!

I happened upon this flick at The Brilliant Light International Film Festival at the Raleigh Studios in LA, and am I glad I did. This a hysterical comedy, and though I'm now in LA, I will always be a New Yorker, and that makes this film so easy for me to relate to. Anyone who enjoys Woody Allen or John Waters films or any of Larry David's work, should love Creating Karma no matter where they are from.
I can't help but be impressed by the versatility of the key players, who wore several hats, writing directing and performing, with great skill. It's always great to see the veteran character actor Joe Grifasi, and the versatile Karen Lynn Gorney, of Saturday Night Fever fame. There are also some fresh new faces, who I'm sure will be heard from again!

- TriviaThe movie came about after director Jill Wisoff, seeking a writing/acting partner to help contribute to an original script with out of the ordinary women's parts, met Carol Lee Sirugo while they were doing extra work on a Richard Benjamin film, Marci X (2003), in Brooklyn. The script got going right away after they hit upon the idea of taking on the roles of sisters.
