Chris Rock called the police on Sunday evening when he saw someone filming him while he was inside his apartment in New York City.

The man did not attempt to break into Rock’s house, and it seems that he was only trying to film him from the fire escape.

The NYPD did not confirm the victim’s identity, but they did say that he was a 58-year-old man.

When the police arrived at Rock’s apartment, the perpetrator had already fled the scene. There have been reports of people who saw the man jump down from the fire escape and get into a Mercedes. He was wearing pink Crocs and a dark-colored jacket.

No arrests have been made so far and the investigation is currently ongoing.

Rock has starred in numerous TV shows and movies including Everybody Hates Chris, Grownups, Madagascar, Bee Movie and Spiral.

‘Black Stories Matter’ Series Launches

The American Film Institute and Universal Pictures have launched a week-long “Black Stories Matter” series with “BlacKkKlansman,” “Get Out,” “Girls Trip,” “Loving” and “Straight Outta Compton” available for free through Aug. 30.

AFI Movie Club content will feature new interviews with composer Terence Blanchard, director Malcolm D. Lee, cinematographer and AFI alum Matthew Libatique, actors Ruth Negga and Ron Stallworth and writer Tracy Oliver. Amazon, Apple, Charter, Comcast, Cox, Dish, FandangoNOW, Redbox, Verizon and Vudu are offering the films.

“For decades, Universal has supported thought-provoking stories and powerful perspectives that have served to enlighten, enrich and entertain,” said Donna Langley, chairman of Universal Filmed Entertainment Group and an AFI trustee. “Through this partnership with AFI, we are proud to further shine a light on these distinctly important works that continue to so poignantly amplify today’s conversation.”

AARP The Magazine’s annual awards show Movies for Grownups is shifting to March 4, 2021 as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and will for the first time add four awards categories for television.

The new categories will include:

Best Television Series For Grownups Best Movie Made for Television or Limited Series for Grownups Best Actress, Television Best Actor, Television

Netflix's The Two Popes, Fernando Meirelles' two-hander that casts Anthony Hopkins as Pope Benedict and Jonathan Pryce as Pope Francis, has finished No. 1. That is, among the nominees for Aarp The Magazine's 19th Annual Movies for Grownups Awards.

The Two Popes snagged noms for best picture/best movie for grown-ups, best actor for Pryce, best supporting actor for Hopkins, best director for Meirelles, readers' choice, best buddy picture and best screenwriter for Anthony McCarten. Films that followed with six mentions each included Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood and The Irishman.

Aarp has raised the curtain on the nominations for its 19th annual Movies for Grownups Awards, with Netflix’s The Two Popes leading with seven mentions, followed by the streamer’s The Irishman and Sony’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood with six each.

Sony’s A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood and Little Women and Netflix’s Marriage Story snagged five noms each, with Lionsgate’s Bombshell netting four. All of the above will vie in the marquee Best Picture/Best Movie for Grownups category, along with A24’s The Farewell, which scored three noms overall.

The Aarp also set Tony Danza to host the January 11 ceremony at the Beverly Wilshire in Beverly Hills. Earlier this month, the group set Annette Bening to receive its Aarp Movies for Grownups Career Achievement Award.

Release details have emerged for Caradog James' (The Machine) Don't Knock Twice. IFC Films will show this haunted featured in theatres and via Video-on-demand in early February. The film's story is based on an urban legend, involving a child-stealing witch. Able to change its form, this monster might just be unstoppable. An early, Russian trailer shows Chloe (Lucy Boynton) struggling with the witch's curse.
