The Summer I Turned Pretty will escape to Cousins Beach one last time as the series sets an awaited release date for its third and final season. The Prime Video series based on Jenny Han’s romance trilogy will return in July 2025, with the author making her directorial debut.
The show will linger for a while as it sets an 11-episode slate, notably longer than its seven-episode run for season one and eight-episode run for season two. The most recent set of episodes premiered in July 2023. Season Three was delayed...

The Academy Awards over the years have garnered a strange reputation. Every year, without hesitation, fans will turn on their televisions to watch the pompous program, and celebrities will flock to the Dolby Theater to take part in it. Despite the awards banquet remaining a huge deal to virtually everyone, it truly seems like no one is happy with the state of the program. A mountain of complaints have been leveled against the Academy over the years, from "#OscarsSoWhite" to complaints of sexism, to allegations of xenophobia. The most common complaint, however, is far less serious and far more avoidable, and it concerns the "Consolation Oscar."
A consolation Oscar is a term for when an award is given to a legendary actor who is deserving of an Academy Award for their body of work, but isn't quite deserving of the one they received the award for. It is a collective...

The Blue Trail, the lively new film from Gabriel Mascaro, takes its name from the secretions of a mythical snail. Azure and oozing, the substance, when dropped on the iris, is rumored to grant a vision of things to come. This news is welcomed with admirable disinterest by Tereza (Denise Weinberg), a woman of a certain age who has, due to recent state insistences, decided there’s no longer much use in looking ahead. The film is set in a near-future Brazil where the lives of the elderly are overseen by some cruel combination of governmental interventions and half-interested offspring. In Tereza’s world, leaving one’s locale now requires a permission slip, and those without are rounded up in so-called “Wrinkle Wagons.” Anyone lucky enough to reach their 80th birthday, as Tereza soon will, are rewarded with a move to The Colonies: a place no one seems to know much about,...

The Sooner State is well represented on the silver screen, with a cinematic legacy that goes back more than a century. In fact, it began shortly after Oklahoma's founding as the 46th state in 1907. The first movie set and filmed in Oklahoma was probably "The Bank Robbery" in 1908, made in Cache, Oklahoma by two lawmen and a photographer. Proving indisputably that there's no business like show business, the cast included the lawmen, a former outlaw, and even the infamous Chief Quanah Parker, war leader of the Kwahadi ("Antelope") of the Comanche Nation. This scenario proves why storytellers have always been drawn to The Sooner State –- it's a wild, weird, and wonderful place, as rich with stories as it historically was with oil.
"The Bank Robbery" was probably the first movie set in Oklahoma, but it was certainly not the last. Not by a long shot. But we're only considering...

Jenelle Evans has finally kicked August Keen to the curb.
As you may have heard, Jenelle began dating August (whom she also employed as her business manager) shortly after her separation from David Eason.
The man was a walking red flag from the start (even by the standards of Jenelle’s previous romantic partners), and many of Evans’ fans are breathing a sigh of relief today.

Jenelle began by discussing her pending divorce with David Eason.
She confirmed that she called it quits with Eason after learning that he had been carrying on an affair with his ex-wife.
To the disappointment of some fans, Jenelle did not discuss the child abuse allegations against David, nor the infamous incident in which he killed the family dog in front of his kids.

The past year of Leslye Headland’s work has been a love letter to her teenage self.
The multitalented screenwriter-director-showrunner-playwright is on the eve of closing her acclaimed Broadway debut “Cult of Love,” a project she jumped headfirst into after finishing the edit on her 2024 Disney+ Star Wars series “The Acolyte.”
“Broadway is a big deal. And I would say to 13-year-old Leslye, to do a Star Wars story then Broadway? It’s mind blowing,” Headland recently shared with Variety.
The “Russian Doll” co-creator’s upbringing is top of mind in “Cult of Love,” which was originally staged at the Berkeley Rep. The relentless dramedy about the deterioration of a religious family on Christmas Eve – which bagged Zachary Quinto, Shailene Woodley and Headland’s spouse Rebecca Henderson for its New York run – is inspired by its author’s own childhood and relationship with faith.

There is famously no bad blood between Bad Bunny and Taylor Swift. In fact, if their respective discographies are any indication, the mega stars may be closer to twin flames than anything else.

Copy magic has been one of the most talked about skills for years in power fantasy anime series, but there are still two giants that stand out even among the crowd, they are Naruto’s Kakashi Hatake and Fairy Tail’s August. Although Kakashi’s skills are formidable enough, Hiro Mashima’s Fairy Tail takes the concept to new heights with its unparalleled abilities of Copy Magic.
August from Fairy Tail | Credits: A-1 Pictures
It is much better than Kakashi’s one and redefines the whole concept of this skill. Its uniqueness makes Fairy Tail’s Copy Magic the ultimate game-changer. So what exactly makes this version of Copy Magic so overpowered compared to any series?

Taylor Swift‘s Eras tour has officially come to an end. The series of stadium jaunts began in March 2023 in the United States, stretching through the end of the year with an announcement of the re-recorded 1989 (Taylor’s Version) on the last night of the domestic leg in Los Angeles.
Right as she picked the tour back up in 2024, Swift flew from Tokyo, Japan to Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada (where she had previously performed) to watch her beau Travis Kelce and his NFL team the Kansas City Chiefs win the Super Bowl. She also had to take a brief hiatus after it was unsafe for her to perform in Vienna, Austria.
Throughout the almost two-year tour, she found ways to keep the show fresh and new for those who have been waiting since she opened in Phoenix, Arizona to see her. In the entire timespan of the tour, Swift...

Welcome, readers, to Late to the Party , a column that's right on time when it comes to catching up on anime everyone's already watched. This column addresses a universal truth in regard to being an anime fan: an anime backlog is quite the powerful beast. Many of us have one, where we amass more and more content we have designated in the "planning to watch" category. How and why it takes so long to actually address this task varies from person to person, but the gratification of finally allocating the time is really quite splendid. Occasionally, it’s by watching a classic anime from yesteryear that you’ve had your eye on for quite some time. In other instances, it’s a more recent premiere that just slipped by. This month’s entry came as part of Crunchyroll’s top picks recommended for me. I trust in the hand of...

Deception, isolation, and desperation are just some of the common threads that connect the characters of this year's Best Actress nominees and the narratives in which they are situated. The curious element of the lineup is that, aside from one (Gravity), all of the nominees are featured in films from the comedic genre, whether it be a crime comedy (American Hustle), a cynically humorous character study (Blue Jasmine), a heartwarming dramedy (Philomena), or an acerbic, tragicomic family portrait (August: Osage County). That must be a rarity in any acting category, right?

August has been a wild ride so far. Between art house discussions of Alejandro Jodorowsky’s Santa Sangre (listen) and Paul Morrissey’s Blood for Dracula (listen), we squeezed in a look at screenlife sequel Unfriended: Dark Web (listen). Now we’re ready for more contemporary foreign content with Julia Ducournau‘s sophomore feature, Titane (2021).
In the film, after a run of poorly timed murders, serial killer Alexia (Agathe Rousselle) goes on the run from the police. After shaving her head and breaking her nose, Alexia disguises herself as “Adrien,” the long-missing son of aging fire captain Vincent (Vincent Lindon).
The distraught father pledges to protect his offspring from harm, but considering Alexia’s literal Cadillac ride (ie: sex) has resulted in pregnancy, how long can Alexia or Vincent keep up the ruse? And what happens if/when the truth comes out?

Once upon a time, August was a dumping ground for studio blockbusters that seemed destined to bomb or counter-programming plays to serve audiences left unfulfilled by the summer’s biggest films. That changed with Guardians of the Galaxy in 2014, but ten years later, we seem to be returning to that classical trend with the release of Borderlands, a long-delayed video game adaptation that should be a smash on paper but ends up being one of the worst examples of the video game movie curse in recent memory.
Borderlands Review
Borderlands follows bounty hunter Lilith (Cate Blanchett) as she is hired by a wealthy client to rescue his daughter (Ariana Greenblatt), only to discover that the girl may be more important than she seems. It’s essentially an amalgamation of every generic sci-fi trope you can think of, which is not a great place for a would-be franchise to start.

It is no secret that Taylor Swift and Blake Lively go way back. The All I See is You star and Lover singer have been at each others’ side ever since they connected in Australia for a day back in 2015. And they never turned back. You know they are up close once you realise that the trio – James, Betty, and Inez, around whom Swift’s songs Cardigan, Betty, and August revolved, are actually the names of Lively’s kids.
Add to that the fact that she is the godmother of all of them. Their camaraderie and close friendship are admired by the industry at large, even prompting many to think that they might be besties. They might not be wrong. And their friendship might have proved to be a boon in disguise for another actor, Isabela Ferrer.

Ah, August. We’re almost there, people. If we can just get through another four weeks of blazing temperatures, surging electricity bills, and sweating through more outfits than your coolest Olympian, then… well, then we’ll probably have four more weeks of the same wretched heat. But maybe not! September, while still typically quite warm, is still historically milder than July and August, which means there’s hope for a few precious days of 70-degree, maybe even 68-degree weather. And when you’re melting into your bed each night, hope means everything.
Hope is also present in the best new shows on Netflix this month. While the streamer is reserving its most anticipated releases for the traditional start of TV season in September — a rom-com series with Kristen Bell and Adam Brody! a family murder-mystery starring Nicole Kidman! a new movie from “The Leftovers’” own Carrie Coon! — the August Netflix calendar is actually pretty stacked.

Many eyes will be turned to Max when the conclusion of House of the Dragon drops on August 4. But what can fans expect after such a huge event? Not much, unfortunately, as the streaming platform's offering for the rest of August is modest; you can't constantly be hitting home runs! Still, there are a few notable new seasons of fan-favorite shows, including Industry entering its 3rd season and the Polish thriller The Thaw premiering its second season.
August also holds a potential sleeper hit, as a popular 2002 Brazil crime thriller, City of God, gets a TV series that acts as a sequel to the critically acclaimed film. And, of course, those who subscribe to the extended networks under Max will find plenty of drama on TLC, tasty eats on The Food Network, and true-crime thrills on ID. Here is everything coming to Max in August, including its extended network.

In 2024, Taylor Swift started featuring surprise song mash-ups in the acoustic set of The Eras Tour, adding a unique twist to her performances. Swift eliminated her no-repeat surprise song rule during The Eras Tour in 2024, allowing for more creative and less limiting mash-up opportunities. The blended performance of "august" and "illicit affairs" during the folklore era in The Eras Tour movie comes closest to Swift's surprise song mash-up at the 2024 live shows.
Two songs in Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour bring viewers the recent "mash-up" surprise song experience missing from Swift's 2023 concerts. In between the folklore era and the final Midnights era at every show on The Eras Tour, Swift does an acoustic set where she performs two surprise songs from her vast catalog of music: one on piano and one on acoustic guitar. Originally, Swift made a rule for herself that she wasn't allowed to repeat surprise songs unless she messed one up somehow.

Taylor Swift's Eras Tour Movie (Taylor's Version) features five additional songs, including "cardigan," and streams exclusively on Disney+. The songs "betty," "august," and "cardigan" spotlight a teenage love triangle from Taylor Swift's folklore album. The characters involved in Taylor Swift's folklore love triangle are not based on real people.
With "betty," "august," and "cardigan" all finally appearing in a cut of Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour Movie together, there's no better time to revisit Taylor Swift's folklore love triangle. The concert movie, which brings Swift's wildly popular Eras Tour to the screen, has landed on Disney+, but the new version of the Eras Tour isn't without a few surprises. One of the highest-grossing concert movies of all time, The Eras Tour Movie's theatrical variant cut a few fan-favorite songs from the setlist. Tunes were added back in for VOD, but Disney+'s version is the definitive cut.

The inclusion of "cardigan" in Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour on Disney+ restores the fictional teenage love triangle from folklore. Connected through their shared lyrical narrative, the songs "cardigan," "august," and "betty" from folklore each tell a part of the same story from a different character's perspective. The absence of "cardigan" in previous releases left a void in The Eras Tour movie, making its inclusion in the Disney+ version a relief.
The importance of Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour finally including "cardigan" in the Disney+ version is greater than it may seem. As of March 14, 2024, The Eras Tour concert movie has officially arrived to its new streaming home on Disney+. The movie is called Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor's Version) on Disney+ and includes four bonus acoustic songs in addition to "cardigan" from the folklore era. "betty," a song from Taylor Swift's folklore album that the singer performs in Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, features Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively's daughters' names — James, Inez, and Betty. Although "betty" name-drops the couple's children, the song is based on a fictional story. Reynolds commented that it was an "honor" for Swift to use his and Lively's daughters' names in "betty."
Taylor Swift's hit concert film Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour features the singer-songwriter performing one of her songs, "betty," and its lyrics are surprisingly connected to Ryan Reynolds. The 2023 movie, directed by Sam Wrench and produced by Swift, chronicles the popstar's highly successful 2023–2024 concert tour. During its theatrical run, it earned over $260 million at the box office, making it the highest-grossing concert film of all time. A few months later, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour will finally be released on Disney+.

Harry Jowsey and his pro partner Rylee Arnold endeared themselves to Dancing With the Stars viewers this season. The reality TV star’s vulnerability and likability played a key role in his going as far as he did in the competition. The Too Hot to Handle star was an audience favorite not only with viewers at home but also with members of the studio audience. (They could often be heard yelling “Harry!” more frantically than Sheila Fisher ever did on Knots Landing.) After scoring a record high of 30 points this week for their rumba to Taylor Swift’s song “August” and losing out to Alyson Hannigan and Sasha Farber in a dance relay to Swift’s “Shake It Off,” Jowsey and Arnold landed in the bottom three. Then, they were announced as the eliminated duo, narrowly missing advancing to the semi-finals. TV Insider chatted with the couple on the post-show...

Oscar winner Jeremy Irons has joined the cast of Palme d’Or-winning director Bille August’s prestige limited series “The Count of Monte Cristo,” which also stars Sam Claflin.
A sprawling adaptation of Alexandre Dumas’ classic novel, the English-language series is produced by Mediawan’s banner Palomar, the leading Italian company behind “That Dirty Black Bag” and “The Name of the Rose,” in collaboration with another Mediawan label, France’s Demd Productions. The series’ five-month shoot will wrap in Malta in December, after having lensed in France and Italy.
The show underscores Mediawan’s strategy to pursue prestige scripted projects with strong international potential under its €100 million co-investment agreement signed earlier this year with private equity film Entourage Ventures.

Daniel Radcliffe almost made his directorial debut with the documentary “David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived,” about his “Harry Potter” stunt double who was left paralyzed after a tragic on-set accident.
At the London premiere of the HBO and Sky doc, Radcliffe Zoomed in from New York City — where he’s currently starring in the Broadway revival of “Merrily We Roll Along” — for a Q&a with Holmes and director Dan Hartley, in which he revealed that he initially set out to helm the film himself.
“I had always wanted to do something about Dave because I wanted to share him with the world for the person that he is. And Dave’s natural humility meant that he was kind of unsure about that for a while — he wanted to make something broader about stunts in general. Backed by the Cannes Film Market and Argentina’s Incaa film agency, the 15th Ventana Sur and its much anticipated works in progress sections, Primer Corte and Copia Final, unspool over Nov. 27-Dec. 1 in Buenos Aires.
This year’s crop of films, either in post-production or completed, make scant reference to the region’s brutal historical past, perhaps with the exception of “Pepe” by Nelson Carlo de los Santos Arias, which begins with the capture of drug lord Pablo Escobar who sowed terror and chaos for years in Colombia, or José María Cabral’s “Tiguere,” set in a ‘90s Dominican Republic.
In contrast, they focus more on human interest stories as in the territorial dispute in “El Casero”; family clashes in “November” and “Una casa con dos perros” – also a reference to Argentina’s economic crisis – as well as issues of identity and intergenerational relationships.

Netflix film chief Scott Stuber once ran Universal Studios – today he sometimes feels like the operator of “the AMC 6000” given the volume of movies that Netflix produces and acquires. From Greta Gerwig’s plans for Narnia adaptations to wooing Denzel Washington and Steven Spielberg, Stuber shared Netflix’s vision of film’s future in a wide-ranging Q&a with Variety executive editor Brent Lang that was held Nov. 8 as part of Variety’s Business Managers Elite Breakfast presented by City National Bank.

Though Taylor Swift's famous female friends, widely known as the "Squad," might be on everyone's radar, the superstar's low-key friendship with long-time music collaborator Jack Antonoff is the unsung hero of the 12-time Grammy-winning singer-songwriter's tight-knit inner circle. The two music geniuses first crossed paths in 2012 at the MTV EMAs, and that chance encounter led to their first collaboration, "Sweeter than Fiction" - a track featured on the soundtrack for the 2013 motion picture "One Chance."
That was just the beginning of a beautiful partnership - both in their personal and professional lives. Since then, the dynamic musical duo has worked together on numerous hit records, including "1989," "Lover," and "Midnights," having created some of the biggest fan-favorites, including "Getaway Car," "August," "Cruel Summer," "Anti-Hero," and many more.

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour does not feature any surprise guests. Haim and their performance of "No Body, No Crime" were cut from the concert movie, possibly due to time concerns. Swift's decision to exclude special guests may be because she wanted to prioritize her own songs and devote more time to interacting with her fans.

Taylor Swift had to cut some songs from her three-and-a-half-hour concert for the Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour movie, and unfortunately, some of the best and most anticipated songs were left out. Fans were disappointed that songs like "Long Live," "Cardigan," and "The Archer" were cut from the movie, as they held emotional significance and popularity. News broke on April 10 that Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn had quietly called it quits this spring after six years together. Though the pair were together for a long time, both were mostly tight-lipped about their connection and life together - except, that is, when it came to Swift's songwriting.
The pair first connected while Swift was working on her 2017 album "Reputation," and fans believe quite a few songs on the record are about her then-new boyfriend. Many of the songs on her "Lover" album, released in 2019, are all about falling deeper in love with her longtime beau. Her single "Lover," which includes quite a few wedding references, even sparked major engagement rumors for the pair.
When Swift released "Folklore" and "Evermore" in 2020, not only were a few of the songs about her romance with Alwyn, but she teamed up with her partner to write some of them as well.

Taylor Swift’s “The Eras Tour” concert film premiered Wednesday night to an enthusiastic crowd of celebrities, fans and of course Taylor’s team, with the star of the film in attendance. As one of the first to see the film, TheWrap has the scoop on which songs from the wildly popular tour made the film, and which songs were cut.
After making speeches in multiple auditoriums for separate audiences, Swift, clad in a sky blue floral-patterned dress (probably in theme for “1989 (Taylor’s Version) with her hair pinned up like the signature bob she had when that album first came out), sat back to enjoy the experience in one of the IMAX screening rooms with her background vocalists and publicist Tree Paine.
The documentary runs 2 hours and 48 minutes, slightly shorter than Swift’s three-hour setlist and performance, which she has brought to 17 of the United States so far in addition to Mexico.

TikTok has been filled with fans romantically spinning their pets to Taylor Swift’s “August” in recent weeks. Now, Penn Badgley and Kevin Bacon have gotten in on the action, sharing their own version of the “August” TikTok trend.
In the clip, posted by Badgley, the You actor runs through a hallway where he finds Bacon and the pair dramatically twirl around (the face Bacon makes is A+ acting material). The TikTok was likely recorded at the same time Bacon appeared on Badgley’s podcast Podcrushed in an episode that debuted earlier this week.
