In the two decades since wrapping up his 10-season run as neurotic paleontologist Ross Geller on the beloved NBC sitcom “Friends,” David Schwimmer has branched out across genres and mediums.
Following the series finale of “Friends” in 2004, Schwimmer, unlike his costars, decided to move from Los Angeles back to his native New York City, and briefly stepped away from the spotlight. He has spent the intervening years chasing his own creative pursuits: returning to his first love of theater and conquering the West End and Broadway stages; voicing Melman the giraffe in the “Madagascar” franchise; appearing in some niche indies; and parlaying his experience as an episodic director into helming his own features.
Since becoming a father in 2011, “I’ve really been enjoying being a parent and not really wanting to leave home that much, to be honest with you, so I guess I became a bit pickier in terms...

Many actors have had what if moments in their lives, and Friends star David Schwimmer has been recalling one of the biggest brutal decisions that he made about his career turning down a role in the 1997 hit Men In Black. The Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones movie turned Smith into a movie star, and Schwimmer is fully aware that it could have helped his own movie star aspirations.
Schwimmer is best known for his role as Ross Geller in the popular 90s sitcom, and, in fact, almost all of his most remembered appearances have been on TV. However, he has made appearances in many movies, such as The Pallbearer, Big Nothing, and the Madagascar franchise. But there is a chance he could have had many more big titles to his name if he had chosen to take on a role offered to him in Men in Black.

You may know Simon Pegg as Scotty from "Star Trek." You may also know him and Benji from the "Mission: Impossible" movies. Or you saw "Spaced," or "Shaun of the Dead." Or perhaps you're just a big fan of the 2006 heist film "Big Nothing." However you might have first encountered him, it's likely you know Simon Pegg, as he has been quietly traversing some of the highest-profile feature films out there, sometimes hiding in background roles (he was hidden under alien make-up in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," appeared in two Steven Spielberg movies, did a few "Ice Age" flicks, and played John Lennon...

People are always complaining about how much Americans suck at doing accents, whether it's Kevin Costner as "Robin Hood" or Keanu Reeves seemingly coming off a heroin addiction in "Bram Stoker's Dracula." And we do suck sometimes, yes.
However, we want to at least even the playing field a little by pointing out some bafflingly bad American accents perpetrated by thesps from overseas. Europe and Australia may have the best acting academies and such, but not every graduate is as versatile as they should be, starting with a certain Gerard Butler from this past weekend's "Olympus Has Fallen."
Gerard Butler
This week's "Olympus Has Fallen" is cheesy fun, but Butler's American cadence is just … off. Granted, he's a bit more convincing than his oft-compared Scottish soul mate Sean Connery, but the "300" star has tried his hand at miming our accent in disasters like "The Bounty Hunter" and the recent surfing drama "Chasing Mavericks.

Twelve years ago, HBO put to screen a miniseries that was one part Television event, one part historical drama, which had the considerable backing of executive producers Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks and the hype of being something of a spiritual successor to their highly acclaimed war film Saving Private Ryan. Through ten one hour long episodes, essentially using TV as a medium to explore a vast and epic journey through the Second World War that would simply be impossible to map on the big screen, and with Stephen E Ambrose’s critically acclaimed non-fiction book as source material and a huge cast representing a collective of real world heroes, one of the most ambitious storytelling exercises the small screen has ever mounted was brought to life. The result was much fanfare, both critically and among the masses, a recurring trope that continues to this day, and the fledgling start...

Some movies will always make me laugh, but let’s face it; the same movies might make others yawn. Comedy is tricky business, the hardest genre to pull off form script to screen. I’ve put together a list of 10 underrated or dismissed comedies that deserve a first chance or even a second chance at recognition. Humor is subjective, but gives these flicks a chance and I promise you will enjoy yourself.

Little is known about Alice Eve's character in "Star Trek 2" beyond the fact that she's new to the "Trek" universe. If there's anything we've learned about the ultra-secretive production it's that we aren't likely to get any new details about the flick from the stars, so MTV News decided to go a different route when chatting with Eve recently about her role.
Instead of asking her about who she plays or what her purpose is in the "Trek 2" storyline -- both things we're desperate to know -- we asked Eve how long she's spent getting make-up applied to her on set. Judging by her response, it could be that Eve will be playing one of the film's many alien species.
"I'm a healthy amount of time in the makeup chair -- though not as long as Spock," Eve teased. "We were filming until very late last night, and...

Much like the lock and key that all "Star Trek" plot details were kept under during filming the first time around, the same goes for the untitled "Trek" sequel. We know which key players are back in place, alongside new additions Benedict Cumberbatch, as the unidentified villain, and actress Alice Eve, but we don't know exactly how the sequel's story will unfold.
When MTV News caught up with Eve recently during the press day for her upcoming period thriller "The Raven," we attempted to find out a few more details about what character she might be playing in asking how long she spends in the makeup chair each day before filming.

This sounds like a film to look out for. We got a promo poster for The Iceman back in the summer, when Michael Shannon, James Franco, and Benicio del Toro were attached in the leads.
Unfortunately, Franco and del Toro have since had to exit the project, but word now comes via Variety that David Schwimmer is entering the foray in an unusually dark dramatic role for him.
The Iceman is based on a true story, adapted from Anthony Bruno’s book, The Iceman: The True Story of a Cold-Blooded Killer. Shannon is joined by the likes of the brilliant Maggie Gyllenhaal and Ray Liotta, and now Schwimmer too. Most recently seen in Machine Gun Preacher alongside Gerard Butler and Michelle Monaghan, and next leading Take Shelter (due out on 25th November), Shannon will star as,

Jay Baruchel has got quite a lot going for him lately. He gets to run along a crazed Nic Cage while he does in The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, and now he gets to play the not-so-good-looking guy in a romantic comedy called She’s Out of My League.
Leaning towards more “comedy” than “romantic,” the story takes the convention of “Average boy meets hot girl” and throws it on it’s head. McElhone, Rogers join cast of 'Big Nothing'
LONDON -- Natasha McElhone, Mimi Rogers and Maury Chaykin have joined the cast of Jean-Baptiste Andrea's Big Nothing backers Pathe Pictures said Friday. The three join previously announced David Schwimmer and Simon Pegg ahead of the movie's production start on Dec. 4, Pathe said. Producers have also cast newcomer Alice Eve (Stage Beauty) as the movie's ex-beauty queen turned con artist. Written by Andrea and Billy Asher and produced by Andras Hamori (Fateless) and Gabriella Stollenwerck (Dead End), the movie centers on a frustrated, unemployed teacher who decides to take revenge on life by joining forces with an unpredictable scammer and his ambitious girlfriend (Eve) in a "fool-proof" blackmailing scheme. Backed by French-owned, London-based Pathe Pictures and Ingenious Films, Big Nothing is produced by H2O Motion Pictures Production with the support of the Isle of Man Film and Television Fund and Finance Wales Investment. Pathe Distribution will release the film in the U.K. and France with Pathe Pictures International handling worldwide sales.
