The MTV Movie & TV Awards has been caught in a web of tweets from #Tomdaya fans. During the June 5 ceremony, Tom Holland and Zendaya lost the iconic Best Kiss award to Jackass Forever's Poopies and, um, a snake, sparking a social media frenzy. A surprised David Spade, who helped present the award, could even be heard on a hot mic asking his co-presenter, Sex/Life's Sarah Shahi, "They beat Zendaya?" The subtle moment got fans' Spidey senses tingling, with one Twitter user writing, "No Way Did Jackass Win Best Kiss And Not Tom And Zendaya!!! Wtf." Meanwhile, another fan tweeted, "you really telling me zendaya and tom didn't...

Every once in a great while, there comes a talent so mind-blowing that it warps the fabric of human history, inspiring generations of enviers and imitators. Freddie Mercury was such a talent; so were the Beatles. And so is Tico, an 18-year-old double yellow-headed Amazon parrot who sings classic rock covers on TikTok.
With his dad Frank Maglio, Tico has made a career out of riffing on such classics as “Free Bird” and “Psycho Killer.” He started out on YouTube, but has since carved out an impressive audience on TikTok,...

The three-time nominee is the reason Kate Bush is currently trending on Twitter, but that’s the tip of the iceberg of Felder’s work on the show’s fourth season. This season Felder uses needle drops to root audiences deeper in the ’80s with needle-drop picks ranging from Falco’s “Rock Me Amadeus” to the Beach Boys’ cover of “California Dreamin’.”
Here’s a guide to five of the best music moments from the first few episodes.

Silk Sonic kicked off the 2022 Grammys with an electrifying "777" performance on Sunday. Backed by a crew of saxophone, trumpet, and bass players, Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak serenaded the Las Vegas crowd to the funk-rock rhythm of their party hit, an ode to Vegas casinos. "Pretty young stunner with some money to blow / I'm 'bout to buy Las Vegas after this roll," Mars and .Paak sang into the mic, bouncing along to an energetic drumbeat interspersed with enthusiastic shouts from Mars.
Minutes later, Mars and .Paak, who currently hold a residency in Las Vegas, danced their way on stage to accept the award for best R&b song for "Leave the Door Open." "I just want to say thank you to my team, my family, my beautiful wife out there. This is for my mom - she passed on Wednesday - so this is for her," .Paak said. Mars continued,...

David Lee Roth disappointed a lot of fans earlier this week when he called off his farewell concerts at the Mandalay Bay’s House of Blues in Las Vegas. He initially only postponed his New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day shows due to “unforeseen circumstances related to Covid,” pushing them back to Feb. 11 and 12. But the entire run was yanked yesterday with no explanation.

“It’s a golden age to be an Archie Comics fan right now,” says company president Mike Pellerito with infectious enthusiasm, adding “I just can’t imagine a better time.”
The declaration is more than accurate, as the independently owned publisher is celebrating its 80th anniversary with the massive CW hit Riverdale entering its sixth season. Despite the TV success, comics are still Archie’s bread and butter, from the digest reprints that beg for impulse buys at the supermarket to a series of innovative titles that have seen Archie and his “pals and gals” become critical darlings.
Some history: In December of 1941, Mlj Comics – a publisher then best known for its stable of superheroes like The Shield, a patriotic figure who predates Captain America – released Pep #22, featuring a backup story focusing on lovable klutz Archie Andrews. It was an instant success due to the humor and charm of its cast,...

Another week, another “Saturday Night Live” hosting debut in the books. This week’s “SNL” saw Academy Award winner Rami Malek step into the hosting role for the first time ever to promote the latest James Bond film, “No Time to Die.”
Following both Owen Wilson and Kim Kardashian West’s solid entries into the “SNL” first-timer’s club, Malek came into Studio 8H with a tone set for this current season.
Host: Rami Malek
Rami Malek’s monologue took somewhat of a page out of the Peter Sarsgaard book of “SNL” hosting, focusing on his reputation as an intense actor. As Malek said himself, he has “resting villain face.”
Once again, the monologue really set a comforting tone for the rest of the episode, as this season so far has done so much to play to the strengths of its hosts from week to week. Malek’s strange charm...

An audition for a fictional Jordan Peele biopic about music icon Prince saw a surprise guest on Saturday Night Live.
Chris Redd took on the Get Out director alongside casting directors played by Punkie Johnson and Ego Nwodim. After rounds of auditions, the two actors standing were Keenan Thompson and Rami Malek who, donning their best Prince garb, participated in a “Prince-off.” In the competition, they each performed the iconic guitar lick from Prince’s “Kiss” with different prompts.
Despite their pretty equal performances, Redd’s Jordan Peele and casting directors couldn’t make a call.
“I’m sorry I don’t think I could cast a white guy to place Prince,” Redd tells Malek, just before he says it’s more fitting to cast Thompson who’s racially more fitting for the role.

Bittersweet endings are anything but rare on television. Likewise, finding Kiss on television -- especially for the aging rockers amongst us -- has been like discovering bubbles in water for the last five decades.
Gene Simmons' proud stagger and Paul Stanley's powerful pursed lips have frequented screens large and small -- just gravy atop the half century's worth of music the inspiring heavy metal musicians have bestowed throughout Kiss' legacy.
But with Biography: KISStory, a two-night event on A&e, Kiss fans will get to see something they might not be used to.
Paul and Gene spend much of their mini-series interviews inside Electric Lady Studios, where they laid down their first 1973 demo with recording maven Eddie Kramer. The studio was created and opened by Jimi Hendrix in New York.

As tensions continue to flare in the Middle East, Creative Community for Peace, an apolitical, non-profit entertainment industry organization, has come together to issue a collective call for “peace, balanced discourse and an end to inflammatory one-sided accounts” of the conflict between Israel and Palestinian Territories. This divisive rhetoric, notes the org, serves only to foment an already incendiary crisis that has, this past week alone, claimed more than 200 lives.

Madonna is getting a biopic (that she’s directing herself). The Sex Pistols are getting an FX TV series. The Bee Gees are getting a film. Hell, they’re even making a brand-new Elvis Presley feature with Tom Hanks. All that to say, there is no shortage of rock star biopics coming over the next few years. And where there’s a chance for money and even more fame, you knew that Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley were going to waste no time to make sure a Kiss biopic, titled “Shout It Out Loud,” gets studio backing.

Kiss, one of the biggest bands in the history of rock music, is about to get the biopic treatment. Netflix has won a bidding war for the rights to the project, which is set to be titled Shout It Out Loud. Both Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, founding members of the legendary group, are set to produce the project and will be closely associated with it. Not that Kiss needs any help gaining recognition, but this could once again catapult them into the spotlight in a big way. If all goes according to plan.

The filmmaker's previous credits include Maleficent: Mistress of Evil and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. With the To All the Boys series set to wrap up this week, it’s time to talk about what the next big Netflix young adult romance adaptation could be—because we now know it’s not going to be The Summer I Turned Pretty. The streamer has been leaning much more heavily into the teen romance genre in recent years, which means some iconic YA romance getting screen adaptations. On that note, it’s recently come to my attention that Anna and the French Kiss, the debut novel from author Stephanie Perkins that follows an American teen to Paris for her senior year of high school, is 20 years old. It’s a foundational text of the genre, and it’s long past time it gets the screen treatment. Now that mainstream content creators are recognizing the power of romance as a genre, where is the Anna and the French...

One day circa 1964, a young Diane Warren looked at the songwriting credits on The Drifters’ “Up on the Roof” and decided upon her life’s mission. “It said (Goffin/King),” she says. “I remember wanting to be in the parentheses.” Warren ended up writing dozens of hits, beginning with DeBarge’s “Rhythm of the Night” in 1985, with nine songs hitting number one, from Toni Braxton’s “Un-Break My Heart” to Aerosmith’s “I Don’t Want to Miss A Thing.”

“The most important collaboration in my life has been with Geddy,” Neil Peart wrote in 2014. As Rush’s drummer and lyricist, Peart had a profound link with Geddy Lee, the band’s bassist, singer, and keyboardist — though he also emphasized the importance of guitarist Alex Lifeson. “Certainly I don’t want to diminish Alex’s role,” Peart continued. “After all, he is our Musical Scientist, the Funniest Man Alive, and a shamefully underrated and thoroughly wonderful guitar player. But the musical relationship between bass player and drummer, the rhythm section,...

Christmas movies are typically designed to instil warm and fuzzy feelings in the audience, and the plots are usually straightforward stories that deliver the requisite happy endings and see the characters rediscover the importance of their friends, families and loved ones, as well as their Christmas spirit.
However, there’s definitely a market for alternative festive films, one that’s been filled over the decades by action classic Die Hard, the anarchic Gremlins, Gothic superhero sequel Batman Returns, the foul-mouthed Bad Santa, the tongue in cheek horror of Krampus and virtually Shane Black’s entire filmography from Lethal Weapon and The Long Kiss Goodnight to Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and Iron Man 3.
Writer/directors Eshom and Ian Nelms are the latest to throw their hats into the ring with Fatman, and the movie is destined to become a cult classic for fans that like their Christmas cheer to be...

Pleased to Meet Me was the sound of the Replacements trying for once. The band’s previous five LPs were snarky slacker masterpieces full of chintzy songs about hating music ’cause it’s got too many notes, ironic Kiss covers, and the occasional tender ballad, and their concerts were more like drunken hootenannies — all of this sloppiness was what won them their legend. But sometime after recording their beloved Tim album, Paul Westerberg decided they ought to grow up a little, the group parted ways with founding guitarist Bob Stinson,...

Superhero movies have a notoriously poor track record on sincerely depicting disenfranchised or marginalized groups on the screen, LGBTQ+ or otherwise. Often every time a Hollywood studio brags about including a gay character in a major blockbuster, it turns out to be a character without a name, or a background player whose public display of affection can be easily trimmed out of international cuts of the film. That doesn’t appear to be the case with The New Mutants.
While we still have not actually seen the long-forthcoming superhero-horror movie hybrid, much to the chagrin of the movie’s makers, the picture does appear to be striving for something different. Rather than depicting a romance in the margins or by intimation, The New Mutants is supposed to make a building connection between Rahne Sinclair (Maisie Williams) and Danielle Moonstar (Blu Hunt) the heart of its narrative. And all involved clearly want to get it right.

Given the bleak state of the world at the moment, you’d think that horror – a genre which typically destroys rather than reinforces our faith in humanity – is the last thing that people are wanting to see. Rest assured, however, that there is no limit to the sadomasochistic ways of the human heart. For better or worse, then, here are a few expertly-crafted yet little-known scary pictures that you can find on Netflix.

Bergeron Aka Taco was eliminated on Wednesday, March 4 after failing to snag as many votes as Banana, Frog and Kitty. Despite Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy and Nicole Scherzinger knowing Bergeron personally, they nor fellow panelists Ken Jeong and T-Pain had any idea he had been serenading them for weeks.

It’s another big-star MGM romantic comedy, and not exactly a classic. Debbie Reynolds and Glenn Ford pick their way through a travelogue story that seems made of leftovers from I Love Lucy, inventing flat-farce gimmicks to sex things up without offending the Production Code. What’s the movie most remembered for? It features the exotic concept car that became TV’s Batmobile.

The 2020 Grammy Awards tribute to Prince had some fans scratching heads. On Sunday night, Usher and Fka Twigs took to the stage to honor the late icon—who passed away in 2016—with a rendition of some of his greatest songs, including "Kiss" and "When Doves Cry." The performance was partially to promote the upcoming Let's Go Crazy: The Grammy Salute to Prince concert that includes artists like Beck, Common, John Legend and more, but left fans upset when Twigs never got to join Usher on the microphone. During the performance, Twigs was seen gracefully dancing on a pole to the side of the "Yeah!" singer, and at one point even...

Prince’s spirit continued to preside over pop life at the Grammys with some help from Usher and Fka Twigs on Sunday night. However, not everyone was feeling the R&b legend and avant-pop maven after they hit the stage to perform a medley of Prince classics.
Plenty of online commentators were enthused — though many were puzzled why Fka Twigs didn’t get a mic or an opportunity to sing during the performance, reduced as she was to a slinky dancer.
“Imagine making the decision to not let Fka Twigs sing anything at all,” @robsheff tweeted.
Taking the stage in a sparkling blue-green suit, Usher gave the crowd some hip-shaking, old-school showmanship inspired by the Purple One on “Little Red Corvette.” Fka Twigs took the stage during “When Doves Cry,” performing an elegant pole dance during the sultry synths of doves crying during the breakdown.
Still, her silent contribution left some skeptical.

There's no one like His Royal Badness. At the 2020 Grammy Awards, Prince was posthumously honored by Usher and Fka Twigs by performing some of the pop icon's best songs. Taking the stage in a glittery, blue suit, Usher kicked off the rendition with "Little Red Corvette," before transitioning into the legend's record "When Doves Cry." While Usher sang, Fka Twigs danced and spun on a pole before joining the singer as he launched into "Kiss." The high-energy performance was introduced by Alicia Keys, who also mentioned how her friendship with the late icon was sparked when he allowed her to cover his song "How Come U Don't...
