For 30 years, the Power Rangers franchise has delivered fun, action-packed series to audiences both young and old. With the long-running continuity of the series, it’s easy to understand why the franchise has managed to maintain an older audience, especially given how much the series focuses on past rangers and nostalgia.

However, the Power Rangers franchise is well-known for being geared towards a younger audience. While some kids' shows, like Avatar: The Last Airbender, managed to create a story suitable for all age groups, most Power Rangers seasons tend to feature a lot of silly moments and oversimplified writing. However, some seasons have stood out as being slightly more mature, allowing both the young audience and adult fans to connect with the series.

It's always exciting when old Power Rangerscharacters make a reappearance. Most of the time, this happens during the series' frequent team-up episodes. This isn't always the case though, and fan favorites like Tommy Oliver, Adam Park and Billy Cranston are famous for their solo appearances.

Many of the best Power Rangers made appearances long after their departures from the series, while others never appeared after their debut season at all. Some teams never returned for a team-up episode, while other characters were simply absent from their team's grand comeback. These Rangers are all beloved figures, and they deserved to get at least one more crack at the spotlight.

Anyone who spends a short time in the Power Rangers fandom can quickly identify which seasons are the least liked. While installments like Wild Force, Turbo and Samurai were once heavily maligned, these days it's Megaforce and Ninja Steel that soak up most of the audience's ire. But while I've watched as the former three seasons have been re-evaluated for the better, one season I haven't seen the needle move on at all is Power Rangers Operation Overdrive.

The 1990s were a good time to be a fan of Japanese pop culture. After the '80s made gamers out of millions of kids thanks to Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog, it was the '90s when anime started to become mainstream in the U.S. (even if kids didn't know it at the time) thanks to "Pokémon" becoming a worldwide cultural phenomenon. (That and "Sailor Moon" and "Dragon Ball Z" turning kids and teens into lifelong fans of the medium.)

But it wasn't just animation. In live-action, "Power Rangers" brought tokusatsu fun to the West and started a hugely influential superhero franchise that, yes, is still very good. For 30 years, the Power Rangers franchise has delivered a series of multicolored heroes defending the earth from evil. With each new entry in the franchise came a fresh group of villains, serving as the season-long antagonists for the Rangers to defeat. While Power Rangers has introduced hundreds of monster-of-the-week villains, the main villain and their respective generals were always the highlight, given season-long arcs and motivations for audiences to get invested in.

While some Power Rangers villains like Rita Repulsa and Lord Zedd have stood out as fan favorites, there are several lesser-known villains in the series who do not get the appreciation they deserve. These villains may not have been as memorable as the more iconic Power Rangers villains, but their arcs and characterizations made them stand out from other similar characters. Some of these villains had outstanding backstories, darker characterizations, or forwarded the plot in a compelling way.

After Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always celebrated the original shows 30th anniversary, the next Power Rangers show to get a reunion should be S.P.D. especially if it were possible to do it in 2025. Although Power Rangers has had plenty of crossover episodes and nostalgic cameos, the franchise had never done a proper reunion for a specific season before Once & Always. Given the significance of Power Rangers turning 30, it only made sense to get some of the original cast members back for a TV special.

Of course, no other Power Rangers season is as iconic as Mighty Morphin, even though the original series is arguably not the best entry in the franchise. It would be nave to believe that every or most Power Rangers seasons would ever get an anniversary special like Mighty Morphin did, which doesnt mean the franchise shouldnt celebrate other important chapters of its history.

Based on the Japanese tokusatsu series Super Sentai, the Power Rangers franchise has run for thirty years, premiering in 1993, with its final season dropping on Netflix in 2023. Despite its long run, the series came close to cancelation several times, but was always saved by another production company buying out the rights. Power Rangers Wild Force was meant to be the 10th and final series, before the Walt Disney company bought out the franchise and moved production to New Zealand.

The Walt Disney Company produced seven Power Rangers seasons during its ownership before the rights were bought by Saban Brands in 2010. While Disney grew to care very little about Power Rangers after the first few years, the seasons they produced are considered some of the best entries in the franchise, despite their low budget and lack of care from the studio heads. Carter Grayson is a beloved Red Ranger, likened to Captain America, who displays bravery and leadership in the face of danger. The character relationships, gripping drama, and action-packed rescue missions make Lightspeed Rescue a standout season in the Power Rangers franchise.

Certain Power Rangers series have reputations as being the cream of the prop. Ask any fan of the franchise which seasons are their favorites, and names that will inevitably come up are Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Power Rangers Time Force, and Power Rangers in Space. There are also seasons that most fans agree to be among the less favorable, such as Power Rangers Megaforce, Power Rangers Ninja Steel, and Power Rangers Operation Overdrive. But oddly enough, Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue rarely comes up with either of these conversations.

With the Red Ranger as the leader and the Blue Ranger as the most common second-in-command, other Power Rangers tend to be ignored -- both by the fandom and by the franchise's most successful Power Rangers storylines. Freeform's Cloak & Dagger already has us hooked, but now we have yet another reason to tune in every week: enter Emma Lahana. The 33-year-old New Zealand actress plays Brigid O'Reilly, a detective on a mission to track down Tandy (Olivia Holt) for a crime she committed. Although the troubled teen was protecting herself from sexual assault, O'Reilly is unaware of the circumstances initially, which naturally complicates things. On the surface, this might sound like your typical episode of Law & Order: Svu, but that's where you'd be wrong.

In the comics, O'Reilly's character is much more powerful than you think. In fact, she becomes a superhuman, just like Tyrone (Cloak) and Tandy (Dagger), after trying - and ultimately dying - to avenge the sketchy men who gave the teens their powers in the first place. Can anything truly top a Power Rangers episode with a monster named Pumpkin Rapper?

Isn’t every episode of Power Rangers basically a Halloween episode? I mean there are monsters aplenty and the main characters wear special outfits to hide their identities. Okay well, on the top of all that Power Rangers has had a ton of Halloween episodes over it’s nearly twenty-five year run and we’re here to rank them.

Now in putting together this list I quickly realized that some of Power Rangers more famous “Halloween” episodes actually have nothing to do with the holiday. Oh sure, they might feature a vampire or a rapping pumpkin monster but they aren’t actually set on Halloween itself or even at a Halloween themed event. I guess that helps for reruns but come on, give us Halloween!

Also, a lot of these episodes didn’t even air around Halloween.
