Sonic Youth have announced the official reissue of their lost bootleg, Walls Have Ears, set for release on February 9th, 2024. In honor of the announcement, the band has shared what is believed to be the first official recording of their fan favorite song “Expressway to Yr Skull.”

Previously released in 1986 as a 2xLP set that quickly went out of print, Walls Have Ears features recordings of three seminal Sonic Youth performances during the band’s second visit to the UK. A press release describes the bootleg as “not just a live album but an artful tapestry full of live experimentation with songs, between-song tape segues, darkness, humor and audio verité.”

The album is available for pre-order now, and will be sold digitally as well as on vinyl, CD, and cassette. A deluxe vinyl edition is available to pre-order, featuring exclusive materials including a previously-unreleased performance of “(She’s In a) Bad Mood.

A24 are delivering a special gift to Max this December, as Leo Reich’s acclaimed stand-up show Literally Who Cares?! hits the streamer. The comedian has already won over the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and Off-Broadway with runs of the show, but this performance was taped at EartH in London. At this point — months after a Netflix follow-up to “Tiger King,” podcasts such as the one this series is based on (Wondery’s “Over My Dead Body”), and countless memes and late-night jokes later — anything purporting to shed more light on this particular saga has a high bar to clear in order to be anything less than repetitive. Peacock’s new series “Joe vs Carole” may be looking to capitalize off the popularity of last year’s Netflix hit “Tiger King,” but John Cameron Mitchell, who plays Joe Exotic, said the docuseries was a hard watch for him.

“There’s something about (Joe) that I actually couldn’t really bear to watch the whole thing at first, because it was like, everyone’s behaving so badly,” Mitchell said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. “The docuseries I found a bit sensational. It was certainly riveting, but it was docking. It wasn’t trying to go deep.”

“Joe vs Carole” is not directly adapting “Tiger King,” but rather the Wondery true-crime podcast series “Over My Dead Body,” which profiled Joe Exotic a year before “Tiger King” was released. Exclusive: Wondery anthology podcast series Over My Dead Body profiled Joe Exotic before he became a breakout Netflix star.

The company has now set the latest installment of the series. Over My Dead Body: Fox Lake will investigate the story of a small-town cop, known as GI Joe, who is gunned down in a swamp in the summer of 2015 and quickly becomes a martyr in the national media.

But when a dogged investigator and his team set out to get justice, they uncover unsettling secrets about Joe, the local police department, and the village of Fox Lake.

The series will be hosted by Matt Baglio, who has written books including Argo: The True Account of the 1979 Rescue of Six American Hostages from Iran and The Rite: The Making of a Modern Exorcist.

The hire of Shinder follows the recent promotion of SVP Television Jonathan Gabay to EVP Television at Berlanti Prods., run by partners Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter and president David Madden. Like most businesses in the U.S., Berlanti Television went through some post-pandemic staff turnover. The division has been actively recruiting executives to oversee its vast portfolio of existing projects and development, and the search is ongoing.

During her stint at Brownstone, Shinder developed projects including Over My Dead Body at HBO Max, Red Queen and The Six at Peacock, Bedrock at Fox, Divorced From Reality at Netflix, Sh*tshow. Peacock has landed for development Red Queen, a drama based on the best-selling YA fantasy novel by Victoria Aveyard. Elizabeth Banks is set to play a major supporting role and direct the potential series, which she and Max Handelman are executive producing through their Brownstone Prods.

Co-written by former Arrow showrunner Beth Schwartz and Aveyard, Red Queen comes from Warner Bros. TV where Brownstone and Schwartz are under overall deals. The indie studio which will co-produce with Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, and Brownstone.

This marks one of the first marquee buys for the NBCUniversal division headed by Susan Rovner, Chairman, Entertainment Content, NBCU Television and Streaming, from Rovner’s former studio Wbtv.

Amazon is in exclusive talks to acquire Wondery in a deal that values the podcaster at over $300 million, according to the Wall Street Journal, as the sector continues to be a hot one following SiriusXM buying Sticher, the New York Times acquiring Serial and Spotify absorbing Gimlet.

Four-year-old Wondery, whose popular podcasts include Dr. Death, Dirty John, Over My Dead Body, Business Wars and American History Storytellers. is one of the last big independents in the market with investors that include Waverley Capital, Lerer Hippeau Ventures, Greycroft Partners and Advancit Capital.

The talks could still fall apart, the WSJ said Wednesday, citing sources close to the situation.

The latter features the so-called "Mother Teresa of cats" herself, Carole Baskin, who runs the animal sanctuary Big Cat Rescue. Apple is developing the hit Wondery podcast WeCrashed: The Rise and Fall of WeWork, with an eye toward a limited series order. The project will be executive produced and co-written by Little America co-creator Lee Eisenberg and former studio executive Drew Crevello and produced by podcast company Wondery.

Co-written by Eisenberg and Crevello, the series, which tonally will be in the vein of The Big Short, will be based on the six-part podcast which documents the rise and fall of WeWork, the New York-headquartered commercial real estate company that provides shared workspaces for technology startups and other services.

Eisenberg and Crevello will executive produce, with Wondery’s Hernan Lopez, Marshall Lewy and Aaron Hart. Wonder is producing for Apple.

William Morgan Sheppard, best known for his work in Star Trek: The Next Generation the series and subsequent Star Trek films, died Sunday. He was 86.

His son, actor Mark Sheppard (Lost Voyage) shared news of his father’s death in an emotional tribute on Instagram.

The London-born actor began his career on the stage. He was an Associate Artist with the Royal Shakespeare Company for 12 years, and appeared on Broadway in 1966 with Marat-Sade and later in 1975 with Sherlock Holmes. But it was his portrayal of Dr. Ira Graves in 1989’s Star Trek: The Next Generation series for which he became known to audiences worldwide. He also went on to play the Rura Penth commandant in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country in 1991, Quatai in the Star Trek: Voyager’s 1999 episode Bliss, and the chief Vulcan Science Council minister in 2009’s Star Trek film.
