After closing out February with discussions of Mitchell Lichtenstein’s vagina dentata-centered horror comedy Teeth (listen) and one of the “good” Amityville franchise entries in Amityville 1992: It’s About Time (listen), we’re taking a look at the oldest film we’ve ever covered in Robert Weine‘s classic silent film The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1920)!
In the film, Franzis (Friedrich Feher) and his friend Alan (Hans Heinrich von Twardowski) encounter the crazed Dr. Caligari (Werner Krauss), who has just opened up a sideshow featuring his somnambulist Cesare (Conrad Veidt), a hypnotized man who the doctor claims can see into the future. At the performance, Cesare predicts Alan’s death, and by morning his chilling prophecy has come true — making Cesare the prime suspect. Unfortunately for Franzis, Caligari has set his sights on his fiancé Jane (Lil Dagover) next, and it’s only a matter of time...

Back in the ‘80s and ‘90s, David Letterman was known for two things: hosting a talk show, and having a big gap in his teeth. Pretty much every caricature and impersonation of the comedian made sure to include this signature dental quirk.
Play
But somewhere along the way, the Late Show host had the gap “closed,” which is somewhat surprising, considering that he was so adamant about not altering his smile early in his career.
Before he was a late-night star, Letterman was cast as the lead of Peeping Times, a 60 Minutes parody that was co-written by Christopher Guest and featured a brief appearance from Mel Brooks in the role of “Adolf Hitler.”
According to the Television Academy, the network was very concerned about Letterman’s teeth, and tried to force him to get dental surgery before shooting the pilot. Letterman refused, and convinced them to let him wear a dental insert instead.

Almost a year after Rooster Teeth, a subsidiary of Warner Bros. Discovery Global Streaming & Interactive Entertainment, announced it was ceasing operations after 21 years, the digital content brand is staging a comeback.
Rooster Teeth co-founder Burnie Burns announced Wednesday that he has acquired “the Rooster Teeth brand and much of its remaining assets” through his independent company, Box Canyon Productions. The company has not responded to Deadline’s inquiry whether the acquired assets include the Rooster Teeth library and The Roost Podcast Network.
Along with the acquisition, Box Canyon revealed a 2025 slate, “including renewed production of some of the platform’s classic shows, a new original audio adventure Again, and an untitled reimagining of Burns’ first film The Schedule.”
The company would not elaborate on what shows are being revived. Some of Rooster Teeth’s most popular titles include Red vs Blue, Rwby and Gen:lock.

Last year, Rwby fans suffered a major blow when Rooster Teeth, the entertainment group responsible for the show's creation, announced that it was closing its doors. However, the company recently announced its official return, indicating hope for the franchise's future.
After nine long months offline, Rooster Teeth's official site has returned to the internet along with an explanatory press release. According to the notice, the company's "remaining assets" have been acquired by Burnie Burns, who co-founded Rooster Teeth in 2003 alongside Geoff Ramsey, Gus Sorola, Joel Heyman and Matt Hullum. Burns and his independent company, Box Canyon Productions, have taken sole ownership of Rooster Teeth, which was previously owned by Warner Bros. Consequently, there is also a chance that Rwby will see a renewal within the next few years.

It’s a packed fall for NYC theater fans, with stellar musical adaptations of beloved movies like “Death Becomes Her” and “Teeth,” among others.
Already this fall, there have been plenty of marquee names tackling Broadway, like Great White Way newbie Robert Downey Jr. in “McNeal,” to thrilling returns, like Mia Farrow and Patti LuPone in “The Roommate.” And — though technically beyond Broadway — favorites like Adam Driver will also appear on the NYC stage.
It’s safe to say the biggest success of the season has already happened, with the brilliant Cole Escola in “Oh Mary.” The play was a downtown smash last spring, but the comedy — written by and starring Escola as Mary Todd Lincoln at the end of the Civil War — has now become a somewhat surprising breakout mainstream hit, with a slew of celebrities stopping by recently, in addition to rave reviews for the laugh-out-loud, beautifully deranged performance and show.

The 2010s were pretty tumultuous for Charlie Sheen’s Two and a Half-Men, as following the lead’s departure in 2011, the sitcom’s future became uncertain. Although the inclusion of Ashton Kutcher as Sheen’s replacement would get things going for several more seasons, the show never reached its previous height without its original problematic lead at the center.

On the bright side, like many other notable shows of its era, Two and a Half Men greatly contributed to the blooming meme landscape of the 2010s, especially one meme from season 2 of the sitcom.

Writer/director Jacquelyn Frohlich’s feature debut “Wayward” strays from being defined by genre — and that’s the whole point.
A road trip drama meets coming-of-age thriller, “Wayward” follows 11-year-old Cleo (Chloe Guidry), who becomes enchanted with the charismatic female hitchhiker (Jessica Sula) whom her mother (Jess Weixler) picks up as they drive to their new home in Los Angeles. When Cleo and the hitchhiker form an unlikely bond, the line between kidnapping and running away becomes dangerously blurred. Will Brittain also stars.
Writer/director Jacquelyn Frohlich makes her feature debut with the film, which premiered at the 2023 Deauville Film Festival. Frequent Duplass Brothers collaborator Ian Michaels produces, with Colleen Camp and Weixler executive producing.
“Childhood can be a treacherous time, and that reality is often avoided in films or over-sentimentalized,” Frohlich said in a press statement. “‘Wayward’ was a quest to make a film where the main voice, the...

In need of a warm hug? How about from a robot? It doesn’t get cozier than the utterly lovely Maybe Happy Ending, the cyborg-centric musical with a miniature cast and a gigantic heart now playing at the Belasco Theatre. And if you find yourself melting with just a few flourishes from the strings section, blame Will Aronson, the composer of what’s surely the lushest score to reach Broadway since Adam Guettel’s The Light in the Piazza nearly 20 years ago. Maybe Happy Ending is a throwback, in a sense, laced with croony jazz touches to boot, but it induces a toasty nostalgia through the lens of a colder vision of the future.

The first time one of the silicone dicks is held up in wonder by a post-coital young woman while a guy writhers onstage with a gushing midsection, the audience gasps a bit at the audacity and then cheers — loudly. This is “Teeth,” after all. Things are going to get a little bloody.
“Teeth” the movie is a 2007 independent horror film centering vagina dentata, the mythical condition where women have teeth growing in their vagina, which become activated, to men’s detriment, during intercourse. In the film, Dawn (Alyse Alan Louis in the musical) is a teenage girl just beginning to explore her body and is horrified to discover what lurks in her. “Teeth” is a feminist cult hit, but it was never the kind of IP that screamed “a musical adaptation is forthcoming!”

Lady Gaga has unleashed “Disease,” the lead single from her forthcoming seventh studio album, due out early next year. The song is the artist’s first solo single since 2022’s “Hold My Hand,” and comes just one month after Harlequin, the companion album to Joker: Folie à Deux, quietly came and went amid the film’s tepid performance at the box office.
Just in time for Halloween, “Disease” finds Gaga falling back on some of the tricks from her early heyday—namely the macabre imagery and brash Edm stylings of 2009’s The Fame Monster and 2011’s Born This Way. Produced by Gaga, Cirkut, and Andrew Watt, the track is driven by a heavy industrial beat and squelchy bassline with enough heft to support Gaga’s characteristically bombastic performance.
The song’s lyrics rely heavily on cliché, echoing similar themes as “Bad Romance” and “The Cure”: “Screamin’ for me, baby...

Growing up, trying to find our way in the world, and making sense of changes can be a difficult and even frightening experience. The awkward uncertainty during the informative years had long found ties with the horror genre as a way to interpret real-life struggles. Combining the two genres has undoubtedly proven to be a successful pairing. From the gruesome Teeth (2007) to the often-celebrated The Craft (1996), coming-of-age horror movies have become fan favorites.
Yet one dark take on the coming-of-age genre is often touted as the best: John Fawcett's Ginger Snaps. Combining lycanthropic terrors with navigating the informative years certainly proved to be an insightful take on the genre, but there is one movie that did the same thing decades before. The Company of Wolves (1984) is often overlooked, but it is on par with Ginger Snaps and shares enough similarities that fans should be howling at the chance to...

Bangladesh has picked writer-director Iqbal Hossain Chowdhury’s award-winning feature debut Boli (The Wrestler) as its selection to the 2025 Oscars in the best international feature film category. The movie won the 2023 Busan International Film Festival’s New Currents prize, and it was warmly received by critics at the Shanghai International Film Festival in June.
The movie follows an eccentric fisherman who resolves to beat the current local champion at Boli Khela, a traditional form of wrestling from Chattogram, Bangladesh’s second-largest city. Set in the late 1990s in a remote coastal village, the story weaves together local myths about dervishes (Sufis), mahi sawars (fish riders) and mysterious creatures believed to be angels in disguise.
Said Chowdhury in his director’s statement: “One of the most significant elements of this movie is the mystic nature of the coastal area. Unlike popular wrestling, ‘Boli Khela’ is quite slow-paced and more about technique and patience.

Dr. Kristen Bouchard (Katja Herbers) has made her fair share of deals with devils. Over the course of four seasons of the Paramount+ show "Evil," the semi-skeptical forensic psychologist has killed a man, burned her hand on a cross, and had sex with a Satanic church founder. In the show's final season, she also helped raise the potential antichrist: a baby born via surrogate from her stolen eggs and world-class creep Leland Townsend's (Michael Emerson) DNA. It's no surprise, then, that "Evil" ends on a delightfully complicit note, with Kristen pulling an "I pretend I do not see it" meme when baby Timothy starts exhibiting some clear-cut signs of demonic possession.

Comic-horror tabletop RPG Teeth was a hit for writers/designers Jim Rossignol and Marsh Davies of Big Robot, earning them a nomination at the 2024 Ennies. They’re set to capitalize on their momentum with the announcement of a Kickstarter for their latest Ttrpg, the piracy and occult horror-themed Gold Teeth.
Launching on Monday, Gold Teeth is described as “a grotesquely comic tabletop roleplaying game” designed for 3-6 people about piracy and occult horror in a cursed corner of the Caribbean. The book will be a 350+ page full-colour hardback, and will be “horribly illustrated” throughout.
Whereas Teeth took place in the remote, wind-blasted moors and sopping bogs of northern England in the year of 1780, Gold Teeth takes place in the year is 1781 in the Caribbean. Oceans are battlefields. And battlefields are rich pickings for the likes of you. Nowhere is this more true than the Punchbowl of the Antilles—a tropical...

Fans, of course, didn’t fail to notice the new set of gnashers and were pleasantly surprised. One gushed, “Def got his teeth done! Looks so good.”
Another Instagram user added: “Am I right to say that his teeth are looking brighter than ever before?...

Though Elon Musk’s chatbot on X claimed that Donald Trump was missing his dentures during the pair’s livestream on Monday night, Seth Meyers has a different theory. The NBC host joked on Tuesday that it sounded more like the man was wearing fake vampire teeth.
For the record, Grok — said “AI” chatbot we mentioned — wasn’t actually making claims based on facts. The program uses trending topics to create news summaries for the social media platform’s premium subscribers. Because the word “slurring” started trending during Trump’s conversation with Musk, Grok used that to create a summary called “Trump’s Dentures In Discussion Amid Speech.”

Nominations for the 39th Annual Lucille Lortel Awards were announced today by Amber Iman and George Abud, two stars of Broadway’s “Lempicka.” The Lortels honor outstanding achievement in Off-Broadway theater. The 2024 ceremony will take place on Sunday, May 5 at NYU Skirball Center. The Lucille Lortel Awards are produced by the Off-Broadway League and Lucille Lortel Theatre, with additional support provided by Tdf.
It’s common for productions to begin their life Off-Broadway before transferring to the Main Stem, so many of this year’s Tony Awards hopefuls are among the list of Lortel nominations. Chief among these contenders is “Hell’s Kitchen,” the semi-autobiographical musical from Alicia Keys. That tuner garnered five Lortel nominations. These include Best Musical, Best Choreography for Camille A. Brown, a Lead Performer bid for Maleah Joi Moon, and Featured Performer bids for Shoshana Bean and Kecia Lewis. All performance categories at the Lortel Awards are gender neutral.

Kanye West has reportedly replaced his teeth with titanium “teeth.”
Photos posted to his Instagram story showed the rapper with his mouth open with the custom titanium dentures.
The procedure cost West around $850,000 and was done by Beverly Hills dentist Thomas Connelly. Connelly, who is considered the father of diamond dentistry, has Offset, Chris Brown and Lil Yachty as celebrity clients.
The procedure is considered “experimental dentistry.” The teeth were reportedly designed by Kanye himself.
According to insiders, West’s new grills are permanent and are the first of their kind.
The James Bond character Jaws had an uncanny ability in the films to outwit death and return to battle 007 once again. Now he appears to have been resurrected again through the rapper Kanye West https://t.co/LHdGQhtl9p

Cities: Skylines 2 launched with numerous bugs and issues, prompting the developers to prioritize patches and fixes. The previously announced Dlc roadmap for the game has been delayed to ensure the game reaches a satisfactory level before additional content is released. The developers are focused on improving performance, addressing bugs, and providing editor/modding support, with longer-term patches and fixes taking priority over quick fixes.
Cities: Skylines 2 has had a rocky launch, with multiple bugs and problems arising in the game that required its developers to rush in putting out patches to repair everything. Now, the previously announced roadmap of planned Dlc for the coming year is going to be facing delays, but this is a good thing for fans of the city-building game. As many have already pointed out, perhaps the entire launch of Cities: Skylines 2 would have benefited from being delayed as well, so extending the roadmap for additional...

Watch out! This post contains spoilers.
At the end of "What We Do in the Shadows" season four, Guillermo (Harvey Guillén) makes the drastic decision to ask Derek (Chris Sandiford) to turn him into a vampire. Fed up after years of his master, Nandor (Kayvan Novak), ignoring his pleas, he decides to get it done himself.
But at the beginning of the show's fifth season - which premiered in July - we find out Guillermo's turning didn't work. Or it did work, but only a little bit. At the start of the season, it's been 16 days and the typical vampire powers haven't fully come in for him, which is highly irregular. Guillermo can still eat food (though he does crave very rare meat) and go out in the sun. He can't, however, turn into a vampire bat and fly away.
Over the course of the season, we ultimately find out why Guillermo's transformation didn't work.

The stage play adaptation of Paranormal Activity is in early development and set to be penned by Levi Holloway, who previously wrote Grey House.
The 2007 found footage film that started it all, Paranormal Activity, was written and directed by Oren Peli. The microbudget feature, made on very little money, wound up grossing $193.4 million globally and successfully launched a franchise still going strong with Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin, most recently released in 2021 on Paramount+. The movies have grossed almost $900 million theatrically, THR reports.
