Piper Perabo in Carriers (2009)

Goofs

Carriers

Edit

Continuity

During the conversation about Brian's car keys, the sweat stains on Brian's shirt appear and disappear several times.
After driving around the SUV blocking the road, the Mercedes is seen spilling oil on the road. When they go back to the SUV, the road is shown and it's clean.
At the golf resort, when Brian nearly falls into the pool and is clinging onto the spring board, the latex glove on his right hand splits, revealing his little finger. In the next shot when Danny pulls him back onto the board, the glove is intact.
When Bobby rids herself of her "infected" shirt, she slides it directly below the SUV where she is sitting, barely underneath her seat. But when the SUV drives away, it only has to go a foot or so before the shirt appears directly in the middle of the rear tires on the road.
In the beginning scene, when the camera is turned upside and the car is coming, you can see the yellow lines on the road and only those, but suddenly when it changes scenes and says Lou Taylor Pucci, another line magically appears next to the other line on the road.

Factual errors

The cockroaches shown in the end of the film were Madagascar hissing roaches; they wouldn't naturally occur in the U.S.
Brian and Danny could not have siphoned gasoline. They carried a yellow hose to siphon gas from a variety of vehicles using the filler neck for access. One vehicle required they first obtain the keys to the locking gas cap. The modern vehicles in the movie typically have a flapper plate at the filler neck and an anti-siphon check ball in the tank. The flapper plate would obstruct easy access and the check ball would block access. The only tool they had available was a crescent wrench, which would not have been much help.
Carriers of any disease are not noticeably affected by the disease themselves. They just transmit it to others and do not suffer from the effects.

Revealing mistakes

At the golf resort, characters cock their shotguns, indicating they've been walking around with unloaded weapons. Then they keep cocking them. No live rounds are heard hitting the floor, so evidently they're all carrying empty weapons.
Right after the pool scene, when Brian is on the golf cart, you can see normal traffic in the upper right corner of the screen.
Fleeing the infected during a global plague, both women still keep their armpits clean shaven.

Miscellaneous

After taking over the SUV with the father and daughter in the beginning they put up containment in the back seat with both people behind it. The following shot shows them bleaching seats and cleaning the vehicle without the father and daughter in the containment.

Errors in geography

In the beginning of the movie, there is a sign that shows I-25 and US-13 coming up in one mile. I-25 runs through New Mexico, where the movie was filmed, but US-13 runs along the east coast, 1700 miles away.

Plot holes

Why did Brian turn his car off in the opening scene where he approaches the SUV blocking the road? His strategy was generally a cautious one, recognizing the potential danger, so it is unlikely he would turn the engine off and not be ready for a quick getaway--even if it might save a little gas from not having the engine running a short while.

Character error

The dust masks worn by the four characters are used for construction. They can stop dust particulates but would do nothing to prevent any airborne viral or bacterial agents from entering a person's respiratory system.
