Singer/actress Sza (Solána Imani Row) recently appeared as Catwoman in State Farm's "Batman vs. Bateman" commercial, and the One of The Days star has now set her sights on another comic book character - and she is certainly aiming high.

Sza appeared on The Jennifer Hudson Show and threw her hat in the ring to play one of the most powerful superheroes in Marvel Comics, the X-Men's Ororo Munroe, aka Storm.

"I would love to be a superhero," Sza said when asked if there might be a Marvel or DC role in her future. "[Storm] comes from this whole other place where it's the jungle ... So, I think that would be so gnarly if I could be Storm's origin story."

Every Spidey film needs a badde (or few) to beat up, and it seems Marvel is looking for a specific group of talent to portray the sequel's primary antagonist.

According to insider Daniel Richtman, Marvel Studios intends to cast an actress between the ages of 30 and 50 to play the main villain in Spider-Man 4. The identity of this mysterious foe has not been revealed yet, but the latest hint could narrow down the possible candidates. Of course, there is a chance the MCU might gender-bend a typically male villain from the source material.

Captain America: Brave New World has been pushed to the 4th spot on Friday, with two new releases hogging up the top two spots and Mickey 17 at #3. Anthony Mackie’s film is hit hard by new movies, which are already having a tough time at the box office in North America. Despite it all, Captain America 4 has a reason to celebrate since it has surpassed the US haul of Chris Hemsworth-led Thor. Keep scrolling for more.

Thor was the debut MCU feature of Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, and Tom Hiddleston, and they soon became fan favorites. It was received with positive reactions and turned out to be a box office success. It was directed by Kenneth Branagh and released in 2011 when Captain America: The First Avenger was also released.

Movie theaters haven’t exactly been bustling since the start of 2025 and the calendar year is about to turn in one of its most meager frames yet. Even with two new wide releases — Paramount’s slapstick beat-em-up “Novocaine” and Focus Features’ spy film “Black Bag” — exhibitors are in danger of a particularly beleaguered weekend, one that will likely see no feature grossing in the eight digits.

That hasn’t happened since February 2024, when Apple’s hopeful franchise starter “Argylle” crumbled in its second weekend. Whether or not any individual releases can get north of $10 million, the overall outlook remains dreary. The Feb. 7 Super Bowl weekend remains the lowest-grossing of 2025 in North America, when “Dog Man” led charts with $13 million and all releases totaled $55.8 million. This weekend seems likely to sink lower.

“Novocaine” has the edge for No. 1 for now, though “Black Bag” and last week’s “Mickey 17” aren’t far behind.

The "Alan" he's referring to was Disney chairman Alan Horn. Needless to say, the studio viewed this as an important project.

Whether or not it's the definitive version of "Cinderella" is certainly up for debate. Disney's 1950 animated version of "Cinderella" is still very well regarded, particularly amongst fans of classic animation.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a franchise known for huge action blockbusters, with some deviations to their formula for applicable content, while A24 is an independent movie and television company that prioritizes an auteur’s aesthetic as well as more intimate character dynamics. Marvel capitalizes on a specific opportunity with Thunderbolts* and framed its latest marketing material for the upcoming movie within the context of the cast and crew’s A24 connection.

Kevin Feige and the MCU decision-makers clearly perceive A24 productions as having a niche filmmaking advantage, at least in terms of a project’s quality. And most importantly, the filmmakers may have purposefully brought some of those cinematic practices and perspectives to Thunderbolts*.

After all, the Thor trailer does not highlight director Kenneth Branagh’s Shakespearian background, and the advertisements for Avenger epics do not point out that many of the stars are Oscar nominees. This Thunderbolts* campaign...

The long-gestating sequel has seen some delays and creative overhauls in recent years, but it seems the latest update means Marvel Studios has nailed down a story for the No Way Home follow-up.

Deadline reports that Sadie Sink has joined Tom Holland in Spider-Man 4 in an undisclosed role. She will be a major part of the film, but it is unclear if she is playing Jean Grey, another version of Mary Jane, or Gwen Stacy. There is also the possibility she is playing Felicia Hardy aka Black Cat. The trade outlet seems to speculate that Sink is either the red-headed member of the X-Men or Peter Parker's love interest Mj, but as most people are well aware of, actors tend to dye their hair (or wear wigs) for certain roles.

There's also supposedly a "chance" Lewis Pullman's Sentry will be part of Avengers: Doomsday, while Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova is set to have a much bigger role in Secret Wars.

Another character who appeared in that leaked concept art is Tommy Maximoff/Speed, the twin brother of Billy Maximoff/Wiccan. There's been a lot of speculation about who Ruaridh Mollica is playing in the upcoming Vision TV series and, as expected, he's likely the McU's Tommy. 

The implication is that Billy and Tommy will reunite not in a second season of Agatha All Along but in the series revolving around their father.

This weekend, Bong Joon-ho's Mickey 17 opened to $53.3 million worldwide, a so-so result for the sci-fi comedy starring Robert Pattinson. It's not been the best of starts for theaters this year as Captain America: Brave New World has similarly underperformed over the past few weeks.

Having grossed $9.2 million during its third weekend overseas, the MCU movie's momentum is slowing down. However, it has nearly reached $200 million at the international box office with $194.2 million in total.

Combined with its $176.6 million cume in North America, Captain America: Brave New World has reached $370.6 million.

Now, analysts predict a final worldwide gross between $405 million - $440 million; regardless of where it lands, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier follow-up will ultimately rank among Marvel Studios' lowest-earning titles.

Marvel has created some of the most iconic superheroes in comic book history, so it was only a matter of time before mockbusters manifested. Whether it's Spider-Man, Captain America, or even Daredevil, filmmakers have long attempted to cash in on these legendary characters; sometimes as blatant knockoffs, other times as affectionate homages, and on occasion as baffling hybrids of both. With their low budgets and borderline intellectual property theft, most mockbusters are easy to dismiss as shameless cash grabs. However, even when a film is just Iron Man with a fraction of the budget, there is usually something to admire; whether it's the creative marketing needed to dodge Disney’s legal team, the bizarre reinventions that arise when filmmakers have not actually seen the movie they are copying, or just the sheer audacity to release something so wildly off base.

Superheroes have always existed in a world of contested copyrights and creative overlap.

The Avengers Tower seems to have been acquired by Val in the MCU, which is allegedly set to herald a darker time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It is possible that post-Secret Wars, this could herald a plotline for Thor 5 which might give Chris Hemsworth the tone shift that he wanted.

Thor: Love and Thunder saw the character adopt some more responsibilities, and it is perhaps the case that the character is still finding himself in the grand scheme of things. It must be noted that Hercules is on his heels after the humiliation that Zeus faced, which could lead to a storyline similar to the Siege even in the Marvel universe, where New Asgard finds itself under attack from the Dark Avengers.

It began with 2008’s “Iron Man,” a film that introduced the world to Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark with the hint that he could be part of something greater. Over 30 films later, the story of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is still being told, albeit with various tributaries and detours that introduce new characters and new worlds that may or may not cross paths one day. Each film in the MCU stands on its own to some degree, but like building blocks, they all connect as part of one interconnected universe. And in that way, watching the Marvel movies in order tells one grand story.

Florence Pugh recently described the tone of Thunderbolts* by comparing it to a certain popular movie studio – which will likely excite some, confuse others, and make others even more skeptical. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has had an interesting start to 2025, with the mixed reaction to Captain America: Brave New World balanced out by the overwhelmingly positive response to the first two episodes of Daredevil: Born Again, which premiered this week. Thunderbolts* is the next installment in the MCU and will kick off the summer movie season on the first weekend of May, the same weekend that Marvel previously released Iron Man, Thor, The Avengers, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and both Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Vol. 3.

While speaking with Empire Magazine, star Florence Pugh compared Thunderbolts* – a movie that collects various assassin characters from across the MCU into a team – to a movie released by A24.

Since first appearing in 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy, Groot has been a fan-favourite character among MCU fans. After sacrificing himself to save his teammates during that adventure, the sentient tree returned in the sequel as the adorable Baby Groot.

With more than 15 years and 30 movies behind it, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is still doing alright. Sakamoto vs. Boiled was one of the most anticipated fights of the anime. After the first few episodes, fans wholeheartedly wished that the studio was saving up the budget for the bigger battles. But it never came to be, instead, Sakamoto vs.

Jason Isaacs is currently earning raves for his spiraling performance on HBO’s “The White Lotus” Season 3, but to many fans around the world he’s still just Lucius Malfoy. Unfortunately for fans, the image doesn't offer a full-body shot of Galitzine in costume as He-Man. Instead, the image is a close-up of his hands and upper body, with the Sword of Power taking up most of the shot.
