Fewer actors are as compelling and magnetic as Giancarlo Esposito. With a career on screen that dates back to the late 1970s, Esposito consistently contributed to film and television with memorable performances that included several collaborations with Academy Award-winning writer/director Spike Lee. Who can forget Buggin' Out, his character in "Do the Right Thing," whose frustrations included but were not limited to the lack of photos of Black people on the wall of Sal's Pizzeria or getting his brand new White Cement Air Jordan 4's scuffed? But without a doubt, it was his Emmy-nominated role as the drug kingpin Gustavo "Gus" Fring in "Breaking Bad" and "Better Call Saul" that turned him into perhaps Hollywood's top choice to portray a cold and calculated antagonist and led to his casting in tentpole franchises such as "Star Wars" (he plays a baddie in "The Mandalorian") and most recently, the Marvel Cinematic...

Samuel L. Jackson recalled some priceless advice he received from Bruce Willis while they were shooting Die Hard With A Vengeance in 1994.
“He told me, ‘Hopefully you’ll be able to find a character that, when you make bad movies and they don’t make any money, you can always go back to this character everybody loves,” Jackson shared in an interview with Vanity Fair celebrating Willis’ 70th birthday . “He said, ‘Arnold’s got Terminator. Sylvester’s got Rocky, Rambo. I’ve got John McClane.’ I’m like, ‘Oh, okay.’ And it didn’t occur to me until I got that Nick Fury role—and I had a nine-picture deal to be Nick Fury—that, Oh, I’m doing what Bruce said. I’ve got this character now.”
Jackson went on to make a dozen Marvel films starring as Nick Fury, beginning with 2008’s Iron Man. He went to appear...

Singer/actress Sza (Solána Imani Row) recently appeared as Catwoman in State Farm's "Batman vs. Bateman" commercial, and the One of The Days star has now set her sights on another comic book character - and she is certainly aiming high.
Sza appeared on The Jennifer Hudson Show and threw her hat in the ring to play one of the most powerful superheroes in Marvel Comics, the X-Men's Ororo Munroe, aka Storm.
"I would love to be a superhero," Sza said when asked if there might be a Marvel or DC role in her future. "[Storm] comes from this whole other place where it's the jungle ... So, I think that would be so gnarly if I could be Storm's origin story."
"My dad collects first-edition comics, so he has the first-edition Thor comics and Silver Surfer just in the basement," she added.

Black Panther singer and One Of Them Days star, Sza, is ready to take this whole acting thing a bit more seriously — super seriously, in fact. And considering she already has one foot in the door at Marvel thanks to her award-winning song with Kendrick Lamar, "All the Stars" from the 2018 film, we could see one particular "dream role" of hers becoming a reality. After all, she's already technically played a superhero once before (albeit for a State Farm commercial).
But while speaking to fellow singer/actress Jennifer Hudson on her eponymous daytime talk show, Sza revealed she'd love to tackle the origin story of Ororo Munroe — better known to comic book fans as Storm, a role originally inhabited by none other than Halle Berry (and more recently Alexandra Shipp). And you know what? We could totally see her pulling it off.

Spider-Man 4 is looking to round out its cast, which currently features Tom Holland and Stranger Things star Sadie Sink, who recently joined in an undisclosed but key role. The upcoming MCU film has been subject to a flurry of rumors, but the latest report could give fans the biggest hint yet as to the identity of the villain. Every Spidey film needs a badde (or few) to beat up, and it seems Marvel is looking for a specific group of talent to portray the sequel's primary antagonist.
According to insider Daniel Richtman, Marvel Studios intends to cast an actress between the ages of 30 and 50 to play the main villain in Spider-Man 4. The identity of this mysterious foe has not been revealed yet, but the latest hint could narrow down the possible candidates. Of course, there is a chance the MCU might gender-bend a typically male villain from the source material.

Snow White had been kicking around for centuries before the Brothers Grimm immortalized her story in print in their seminal 1812 collection of fairy tales. It’s also a tale that Hollywood has found irresistible. There were two Snow White silent films in 1902 and 1916, decades before Walt Disney’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs broke new ground as a full-length animated film in 1937. Since then, Disney’s take on Snow White has defined the character’s presence in pop culture.
Beyond Disney’s version, there have been plenty of other attempts to bring the story to the big screen. That includes some wild swings, like Snow White and the Three Stooges in 1961. Then in 2012, there were two big-budget productions of Snow White that went head-to-head: Mirror, Mirror and Snow White and the Huntsman. Marvel has officially announced Godzilla vs. Thor #1, a climactic entry in the Godzilla vs. Marvel series, written by Jason Aaron and illustrated by Aaron Kuder. Following massive clashes with Marvel’s greatest heroes, Godzilla is now facing his most powerful opponent yet.

Captain America: Brave New World may not be riding a huge red, white and blue wave to success. However, the latest big-screen effort from the Marvel Cinematic Universe sails past a few MCU films domestically as it ekes out as much box-office momentum as possible.

The comic book medium has existed for decades at this point. Within that relatively small time frame, there have been characters and storylines of such magnitude that they catapult the medium to unimaginable heights. However, because of its vast history, it can be tough for new readers to come into comics with character(s) with so much history and backstory that it would take a lifelong fan more lifetimes to read it and understand it all than I could count, but don't worry! Bam Smack Pow is here to help.

Daaku Maharaaj North America Box Office (Final) (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Daaku Maharaaj, starring Nandamuri Balakrishna, was released amid high expectations during Sankranti but failed to make it big. The film displayed the initial rush, but it witnessed a decline afterward, especially after the release of Sankranthiki Vasthunam. Both in India and overseas, it was hampered by the sensational run of the Venkatesh starrer. Now that the biggie has already closed its theatrical run, the closing update from the North American box office has come.
In the last few years, what we call the Balayya 2.0 version has brought Balakrishna back into the box office power game. Starting from Akhanda, the senior Tollywood star has proved he can pull off big numbers amid the growing fad of box office numbers. Overseas, North America has always been a strong market for him and lately, his pull has just got better.

Captain America: Brave New World North America Box Office: Beats Chris Hemsworth Starrer Thor (Photo Credit – Instagram/Prime Video)
Captain America: Brave New World has been pushed to the 4th spot on Friday, with two new releases hogging up the top two spots and Mickey 17 at #3. Anthony Mackie’s film is hit hard by new movies, which are already having a tough time at the box office in North America. Despite it all, Captain America 4 has a reason to celebrate since it has surpassed the US haul of Chris Hemsworth-led Thor. Keep scrolling for more.
Thor was the debut MCU feature of Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, and Tom Hiddleston, and they soon became fan favorites. It was received with positive reactions and turned out to be a box office success. It was directed by Kenneth Branagh and released in 2011 when Captain America: The First Avenger was also released.

Movie theaters haven’t exactly been bustling since the start of 2025 and the calendar year is about to turn in one of its most meager frames yet. Even with two new wide releases — Paramount’s slapstick beat-em-up “Novocaine” and Focus Features’ spy film “Black Bag” — exhibitors are in danger of a particularly beleaguered weekend, one that will likely see no feature grossing in the eight digits.
That hasn’t happened since February 2024, when Apple’s hopeful franchise starter “Argylle” crumbled in its second weekend. Whether or not any individual releases can get north of $10 million, the overall outlook remains dreary. The Feb. 7 Super Bowl weekend remains the lowest-grossing of 2025 in North America, when “Dog Man” led charts with $13 million and all releases totaled $55.8 million. This weekend seems likely to sink lower.
“Novocaine” has the edge for No. 1 for now, though “Black Bag” and last week’s “Mickey 17” aren’t far behind.

"Alan called me into his office one day and said, 'Here's the thing. It's Disney's 'Cinderella.' It needs to be the definitive 'Cinderella' for generations to come, so if you need to spend a little more, spend it, to make sure it's one for the time capsule.' " Those are the words of Disney's then-production president Sean Bailey speaking about the studio's 2015 live-action "Cinderella" to Variety in 2016. The "Alan" he's referring to was Disney chairman Alan Horn. Needless to say, the studio viewed this as an important project.
Whether or not it's the definitive version of "Cinderella" is certainly up for debate. Disney's 1950 animated version of "Cinderella" is still very well regarded, particularly amongst fans of classic animation.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a franchise known for huge action blockbusters, with some deviations to their formula for applicable content, while A24 is an independent movie and television company that prioritizes an auteur’s aesthetic as well as more intimate character dynamics. Marvel capitalizes on a specific opportunity with Thunderbolts* and framed its latest marketing material for the upcoming movie within the context of the cast and crew’s A24 connection.
Kevin Feige and the MCU decision-makers clearly perceive A24 productions as having a niche filmmaking advantage, at least in terms of a project’s quality. And most importantly, the filmmakers may have purposefully brought some of those cinematic practices and perspectives to Thunderbolts*.
After all, the Thor trailer does not highlight director Kenneth Branagh’s Shakespearian background, and the advertisements for Avenger epics do not point out that many of the stars are Oscar nominees. This Thunderbolts* campaign...

Spider-Man4 just added a Stranger Things star, but she may not be the X-Men character she has long been rumored for. The long-gestating sequel has seen some delays and creative overhauls in recent years, but it seems the latest update means Marvel Studios has nailed down a story for the No Way Home follow-up.
Deadline reports that Sadie Sink has joined Tom Holland in Spider-Man 4 in an undisclosed role. She will be a major part of the film, but it is unclear if she is playing Jean Grey, another version of Mary Jane, or Gwen Stacy. There is also the possibility she is playing Felicia Hardy aka Black Cat. The trade outlet seems to speculate that Sink is either the red-headed member of the X-Men or Peter Parker's love interest Mj, but as most people are well aware of, actors tend to dye their hair (or wear wigs) for certain roles.

We're back with more MCU rumours, starting with the Multiverse Saga's grand finale, Avengers: Secret Wars. According to The Cosmic Circus, the Thor Corps - a Multiversal army of Thor Variants - is still set to appear in the movie.
There's also supposedly a "chance" Lewis Pullman's Sentry will be part of Avengers: Doomsday, while Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova is set to have a much bigger role in Secret Wars.
Another character who appeared in that leaked concept art is Tommy Maximoff/Speed, the twin brother of Billy Maximoff/Wiccan. There's been a lot of speculation about who Ruaridh Mollica is playing in the upcoming Vision TV series and, as expected, he's likely the McU's Tommy.
The implication is that Billy and Tommy will reunite not in a second season of Agatha All Along but in the series revolving around their father.
The site's Alex Perez also suggests...

This weekend, Bong Joon-ho's Mickey 17 opened to $53.3 million worldwide, a so-so result for the sci-fi comedy starring Robert Pattinson. It's not been the best of starts for theaters this year as Captain America: Brave New World has similarly underperformed over the past few weeks.
Having grossed $9.2 million during its third weekend overseas, the MCU movie's momentum is slowing down. However, it has nearly reached $200 million at the international box office with $194.2 million in total.
Combined with its $176.6 million cume in North America, Captain America: Brave New World has reached $370.6 million.
Now, analysts predict a final worldwide gross between $405 million - $440 million; regardless of where it lands, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier follow-up will ultimately rank among Marvel Studios' lowest-earning titles.
The Marvels is the studio's biggest flop, having made only $206 million in total. Captain America: Brave New World, however, looks set to end up somewhere between Eternals...

Marvel has created some of the most iconic superheroes in comic book history, so it was only a matter of time before mockbusters manifested. Whether it's Spider-Man, Captain America, or even Daredevil, filmmakers have long attempted to cash in on these legendary characters; sometimes as blatant knockoffs, other times as affectionate homages, and on occasion as baffling hybrids of both. With their low budgets and borderline intellectual property theft, most mockbusters are easy to dismiss as shameless cash grabs. However, even when a film is just Iron Man with a fraction of the budget, there is usually something to admire; whether it's the creative marketing needed to dodge Disney’s legal team, the bizarre reinventions that arise when filmmakers have not actually seen the movie they are copying, or just the sheer audacity to release something so wildly off base.

MCU’s New Name For Avengers Tower Fuels a Crazy Thor 5 Theory That Will Shatter Chris Hemsworth Fans
The Avengers Tower seems to have been acquired by Val in the MCU, which is allegedly set to herald a darker time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It is possible that post-Secret Wars, this could herald a plotline for Thor 5 which might give Chris Hemsworth the tone shift that he wanted.

Thor: Love and Thunder saw the character adopt some more responsibilities, and it is perhaps the case that the character is still finding himself in the grand scheme of things. It must be noted that Hercules is on his heels after the humiliation that Zeus faced, which could lead to a storyline similar to the Siege even in the Marvel universe, where New Asgard finds itself under attack from the Dark Avengers.

It began with 2008’s “Iron Man,” a film that introduced the world to Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark with the hint that he could be part of something greater. Over 30 films later, the story of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is still being told, albeit with various tributaries and detours that introduce new characters and new worlds that may or may not cross paths one day. Each film in the MCU stands on its own to some degree, but like building blocks, they all connect as part of one interconnected universe. And in that way, watching the Marvel movies in order tells one grand story.
There are a couple of different ways to watch the Marvel movies in order, but below we run down how to watch the MCU in chronological and release date order. Indeed, some films like “Captain Marvel” and “Captain America: The First Avenger” are full-on prequels...

Florence Pugh recently described the tone of Thunderbolts* by comparing it to a certain popular movie studio – which will likely excite some, confuse others, and make others even more skeptical. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has had an interesting start to 2025, with the mixed reaction to Captain America: Brave New World balanced out by the overwhelmingly positive response to the first two episodes of Daredevil: Born Again, which premiered this week. Thunderbolts* is the next installment in the MCU and will kick off the summer movie season on the first weekend of May, the same weekend that Marvel previously released Iron Man, Thor, The Avengers, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and both Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Vol. 3.
While speaking with Empire Magazine, star Florence Pugh compared Thunderbolts* – a movie that collects various assassin characters from across the MCU into a team – to a movie released by A24.

Since first appearing in 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy, Groot has been a fan-favourite character among MCU fans. After sacrificing himself to save his teammates during that adventure, the sentient tree returned in the sequel as the adorable Baby Groot.

British actor and filmmaker Sir Kenneth Branagh has been a Hollywood staple for years, between his adaptations of Shakespeare plays like 1993's "Much Ado About Nothing" and 1996's "Hamlet" and blockbuster projects like "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets," as well as the first "Thor" movie in 2021. He also won his first Academy Award in 2021 thanks to the autobiographical film "Belfast," which was based on his own childhood in the Northern Irish city during the Troubles. Branagh is clearly a curiously-minded and ambitious filmmaker and performer who's always looking for a new challenge, which might explain why, in 2017, he started adapting Agatha Christie's Hercule Poirot stories for the big screen.
Branagh kicked off this new project with "Murder on the Orient Express" that year and followed It up with two other Poirot stories, "Death on the Nile" and "A Haunting in Venice," which came out in 2022 and 2023, respectively.

With more than 15 years and 30 movies behind it, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is still doing alright. Across this cavalcade of almost three dozen movies are a wide variety of iconic superheroes, grand stories, impressive visual tapestries, and the occasional entry that manages to be just “not bad.” We all have our rankings for the very best and the very worst of the Marvel series, but now JoBlo officially has the MCU movies ranked from Iron Man to this year’s Captain America: Brave New World. Here we go, from least to best:
Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
Director Taika Waititi harnessed the mighty power of Chris Hemsworth’s sense of humor and blended it with his own colorful sensibilities for the hilarious, character-reviving Thor: Ragnarok. Director Taika Waititi harnessed the mighty power of Chris Hemsworth’s sense of humor and blended it with his own colorful sensibilities for the hilarious, character-reviving Thor: Ragnarok. All eyes were on the sequel, Thor: Love and Thunder, especially given it would see the return of Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster (taking on the mantle of Mighty Thor). Sadly,...

Taika Waititi has been attached to an untitledStar Warsproject for several years now. A worldwide pandemic has come and gone, industry-wide strikes shutdown all Hollywood productions for the good part of a year, and Star Wars has failed to release one film since his hiring. Of course, Lucasfilm is largely to blame for that last part, especially since they have a revolving door of filmmakers walking in and out of the studio. However, it seems Waititi shares a good chunk of the blame for his Star Wars film remaining in the script phase and causing an indefinite delay.
During an interview with Deadline, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy discussed a variety of topics concerning the future of the Star Wars universe. Among the projects mentioned were Waititi's untitled film, which apparently does not have a script yet. It's a simple, yet frustrating reason, especially since he has been attached to the...

Ever since the release ofDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, fans have been curious if the finale of that movie was really the end of Wanda Maximoff / The Scarlet Witch, or if she would return to the MCU. The assumption seemed to be that any news about the Scarlet Witch's return to the MCU would have to wait until Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars, but Marvel Comics might have given away the plan.
At the end of the Doctor Strange sequel, Wanda stayed behind to destroy Mount Wundagore, which collapsed on top of her, but as anyone who reads superhero comics knows, death is easy to come back from. In Marvel's Tva #3, published on Feb. 26, 2025 (via SlashFilm), Spider-Gwen passes what appears to be the Marvel Cinematic Universe version of the Scarlet Witch in some sort of stasis chamber in the Tva headquarters. Theoretically, this could be any Scarlet Witch,...

There are no bigger cinematic titans than The Avengers. Marvel's group of mighty heroes first assembled on the silver screen back in 2012 and achieved instant box office success, setting the stage for the Marvel Cinematic Universe's ascension to the box office champion that it is now. The heights would only get higher after that.
But The Avengers are also the sum of their parts, for the legendary team is crafted out of some of the most powerful, effective, and iconic superheroes to ever grace the pages of Marvel Comics. We saw that on-screen when the MCU kicked off with standalone films like Iron Man, Captain America: The First Avenger, Thor, and The Incredible Hulk, showing us what just some of those heroes were capable of on their own. Putting them together meant that success was inevitable.
But in the midst of all that power are some very human humans (and...

New day, old Sakamoto Days anime controversy. Ever since Sakamoto Days received its anime debut, fans of the series have been neatly divided into two sections. One faction pinpoints every animation fallacy, while the other just tries to ignore the mistakes and enjoy the comedy.
Unfortunately, Studio Tms Entertainment has made it way too hard for fans to keep ignoring the issues with the series’ animation. Some of the most anticipated battles have been botched, and no one is happy about it.
One Sakamoto Days scene is so amateurish that fans can’t help but point it out Sakamoto Vs. Boiled animation was extremely lackluster | Credits: Tms Entertainment
Sakamoto vs. Boiled was one of the most anticipated fights of the anime. After the first few episodes, fans wholeheartedly wished that the studio was saving up the budget for the bigger battles. But it never came to be, instead, Sakamoto vs.

Jason Isaacs is currently earning raves for his spiraling performance on HBO’s “The White Lotus” Season 3, but to many fans around the world he’s still just Lucius Malfoy. Isaacs played the iconic “Harry Potter” villain in six movies, starting with 2002’s “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets” and ending with 2011’s “Deathly Hallows – Part 2.” The actor recently appeared on BBC’s “The One Show” and looked back at his Potter tenure.
“Even though I was in the films, when I’ve taken godchildren or nephews and nieces to the [studio tour] and the thing comes up and suddenly you’re in the Great Hall, every time, I burst out in tears,” Isaacs said. “It’s incredibly moving and overwhelming. There’s some magic that happened in those stories.”
But while the finished product brings tears to his eyes, Isaacs also said: “It’s a terrible confession to make: they...

Nicholas Galitzine has the Power! Amazon MGM Studios has released the first look at the actor in character as He-Man for the live-action Masters of the Universe reboot.
The image was shared on the studio's official X account alongside the caption, "Eternia is in good hands. Here's your first look at Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man with the Sword of Power in the upcoming film." Unfortunately for fans, the image doesn't offer a full-body shot of Galitzine in costume as He-Man. Instead, the image is a close-up of his hands and upper body, with the Sword of Power taking up most of the shot. However, based on what is shown, the reboot's He-Man looks extremely faithful to the original animated version. Check out the image below.

There was a time when Netflix itself would have been considered sci-fi. High-definition movies on demand in your living room, for a monthly fee, sometimes day and date with theatrical releases? Yeah, not a thing until pretty recently, which might make you wonder how many of the sci-fi features actually on Netflix are in danger of coming true eventually.
Netflix isn't just a studio and purveyor of original movies, though -- it's also home to former theatrical releases from other studios, which linger on the service for short and long terms. So when the time came to round up the best sci-fi films on the service, as of this writing at least, we've included some of those too. Toho, Warner Bros. and Sony have made deals with the streamer that would seem to ensure decent tenures for the ones cited below, but it's an unpredictable world, one in which streaming...
