Jennifer Aniston played the role of Rachel Green for ten years and won an Emmy and a Golden Globe for her performance. The actress starred in the sitcom Friends for ten seasons and was one of the most popular characters in the culture-defining show. Her career skyrocketed after her tenure in the sitcom.
However, despite it being a decade since the show ended, many critics have called Aniston out for still playing Rachel in other roles. Some critics of her latest TV offering The Morning Show have accused her of being a bad actor and of struggling to move on from Rachel’s persona.

The Bricklayer could give Aaron Eckhart a new action franchise with the character of Steve Vail. Eckhart's last action series was the Has Fallen franchise, which he exited after the second entry. The Bricklayer has a sequel book titled Last Chance to Die (Aka Agent X).
If Aaron Eckhark's thriller The Bricklayer receives a sequel, this would finally give the star a replacement for his former action franchise. Despite his incredible performance as Harvey Dent/Two-Face in The Dark Knight, Hollywood never quite knew what to do with Aaron Eckhart. Despite being a great actor and having movie star looks, he was largely wasted in forgettable outings like Love Happens. A failed bid to become an action star with the terrible I, Frankenstein in 2014 appears to have paid off in the long run, however.
Beginning with 2019's Line of Duty, Eckhart has fronted several action movies that have gone straight to streaming,...

Jennifer Aniston became a household name with her role as Rachel Green in the popular sitcom Friends, and ever since the role, she has not turned back. The actress went on to become one of the most loved actresses in the entertainment industry, as her acting stole the attention as well as the hearts of the viewers.
Even at the age of 55, Aniston is going strong as her magnetic aura and charisma continue to make her a go-to choice actress in a rom-com film. However, the actress is not just limited to one film genre, as she prefers to work in different genres to show her acting range.

Zorro and Expats are the big shows coming to Prime Video in January. The former is what Amazon are calling a “bold reinterpretation” of the classic hero El Zorro for 2024. Starring Miguel Bernardeau as Diego de la Vega and Renata Notni as Lolita Marquez, it’s definitely an intriguing-sounding action-adventure series, with a ten-episode first season based on the iconic character originally created by Johnston McCulley all the way back in 1919.
Meanwhile, upcoming drama series Expats is based on the bestselling 2016 novel The Expatriates by Janice Y. K. Lee, and follows “the vibrant lives of a close-knit expatriate community” in Hong Kong. Nicole Kidman has been known for picking the right kind of shows to lead in the past, so let’s hope this is another banger for the actress, who is also on board as an executive producer here.
Here’s everything coming to Amazon Prime Video and Freevee this month.

In February 2023, Netflix will remove a bunch of movie and TV series from its library,
Netflix UK and Netflix US takes down numerous titles each month without fanfare, meaning that many things on your watchlist could suddenly disappear.
These removals are due to licencing deals coming to an end. Often, the titles make their way back to Netflix in the following year, but sometimes they leave to go to other platforms.
This month sees a selection of Netflix Originals being taken down, also.
To minimise surprise, we have put together a comprehensive list of everything being removed in both Netflix UK and US.

From Warren Zevon and David Bowie to Gregg Allman and Pop Smoke and Mac Miller, posthumous albums recorded during an artist’s final months have become a sadly inevitable part of the pop landscape. That’s also the case with Things Happen That Way, the album Dr. John was working on when he died of a heart attack in June 2019. Now, three years after his passing, the album, which includes covers as well as some of his last newly written songs, will finally be heard when Rounder Records releases it on Sept.

This article contains spoilers for Station Eleven.
“I’ve been adrift in the strangest galaxy for a long time. But I’m safe now. I found it again. My home.” – Dr. Eleven
It’s not an original observation that many, if not most, good stories are about stories themselves. After all, they say “write about what you know” and what does a storyteller know if not the power of story?
Even with that in mind, however, HBO Max’s Station Eleven is really about stories. Station Eleven, which just premiered its brilliant finale on Jan. 13, began on Dec. 16 with the end of everything. Starting with a superflu that kills seemingly more than 99% of humanity, the series immediately confronts viewers with images of apocalyptic decay: empty train stations, cracked highways, and theaters drowned in jungle. The world of Station Eleven is unambiguously over.
And yet…those left carry on anyway, as...

Since 1997, Rahsaan Patterson has specialized in handsome songs, loving and lovelorn, packed with vocal pirouettes, supple pleading, and lush harmonies. The singer draws from R&b’s venerable Quiet Storm tradition, making music that would fit comfortably next to oldies by Anita Baker and Stevie Wonder. But when Patterson entered the music industry in the Nineties, R&b was growing less interested in “Quiet” and more interested in “Storm” — a certain amount of musical thunder was necessary to compete with hip-hop.

On VOD, Universal’s “Nobody” and the debut of the latest Liam Neeson action film, “The Marksman,” topped the charts along with “Nomadland.” The Bob Odenkirk thriller “Nobody” has been overall the top performer for its initial three weeks of $19.99 home play (with the studio collecting $16 for each rental). It is the sole title to make all four charts, placing #1 at GooglePlay and Spectrum, second and fifth at Fandango and Apple TV. Two million rentals would mean $32 million in studio rentals.
For “The Marksman,” Open Road held to the pre-pandemic 75 day window, grossing a little under $16 million in domestic theaters, before going PVOD. It took #1 at FandangoNow, #2 at Apple TV, and #3 at GooglePlay.

“When the Time Is Right” manages to be both nonchalant and agitated at the same time. Producer Cody Currie lays out a series of contrasts — between the stubby, stabbing electric piano and the marauding bass, between a stern, slapping cymbal and a stream of hurrying, rat-a-tat percussion — over a driving rhythm. The result is freeing for dancers, who can choose to align their movements with either the calmer or the more frenetic elements in Currie’s track.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine officer Debbie Fogle blew her top and went full-on coke fiend in Thursday’s episode, which revealed why Holt’s partner broke bad in the first place.
As you’ll recall, the previous episode ended with quite the twist: We watched as Vanessa Bayer’s character stole 20 bricks of cocaine and machine guns from the evidence lockup. This week, she returned to the Nine-Nine amid a precinct-wide investigation and was obviously guilty to the entire squad. When Terry brought her into the interrogation room for questioning, she revealed that she was working for notorious crime boss Silvio Nucci,...

In a sign of its perceived attractiveness for audiences in its native Portugal, major Portuguese distributor Nos Audiovisuais and public broadcaster Rtp have acquired rights to Portuguese director Bruno Gascon’s sophomore feature “Shadow.”
A title worth keeping an eye on at this year’s Locarno Match Me! networking and co-production event, “Shadow” marks Gascon’s follow up to debut feature “Carga.”
A human-trafficking drama-thriller, “Carga” was sold to more than 20 countries by Paris-based Wide and finished in the top five most popular Portuguese films in that country last year by number of admissions, proving a breakout hit for the director and the film’s upstart production company Caracol Protagonista.
“More than just being happy with the successes we had with ‘Carga,’ as a female producer I was so proud that was about female empowerment and raising awareness,” Caracol Protaganista producer Joana Domingues recalled in a conversation with Variety from Locarno.

Wow! Here's a blast from the past that I haven't thought of in years! Today Netflix released the trailer for a new original film called Benji. This movie is based on a franchise of films that were made in the 70s and 80s. I completely forgot about these films until I saw this trailer pop up today and then all these memories came flooding back of watching those old-school Benji films.
There were nine Benji films made between 1974 and 1987 and they followed the adventures of a shaggy dog named Benji. In this latest film, Benji "comes to the rescue and helps heal a broken family when a young boy and his sister stumble into some serious danger."
My kids love dogs, so there's no doubt they are going to want to watch this. The movie was directed by Brand Camp (Love Happens) and the cast includes Gabriel Bateman, Darby Camp,...

Being a woman can be difficult.
No, sorry. Being a woman is difficult.
The different messages we all face to do with how we should look is overwhelming.
Depressing.
I am sure many women can relate to that feeling of not being good enough. Or to that assumption of they will love me once: I’ve lost weight, or I’ve coloured my hair, or I’ve shaved my legs, or sorted out that facial hair.
Rubbish. It’s all rubbish.
The truth is that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and it takes much more than so-called beauty for a person to fall in love. Love is when a person accepts us as we are with a heart connection. Completely. Without having to dye those grey hairs or shave those legs.
Love happens when we can each accept ourselves and love ourselves for who we truly are.

Ben Schwartz is prolific. Best known for his work as an actor, in projects such as House Of Lies, BoJack Horseman, Parks And Recreation, and Turbo, he is also a writer (Robot Chicken, The Oscars), a producer (Funny Or Die Presents…, Bronx World Travellers), and director (CollegeHumor Originals). He is also the proud owner of a Primetime Emmy Award for writing music and lyrics for the 81st Annual Academy Awards. But now, he has really hit the big time, because he’s about to star in Blue Iguana with Sam Rockwell.
Soon to be written, directed and produced by Hadi Hajaig (Cleanskin), Blue Iguana is characterized as a dark comedy thriller that’s also a love story. Plot details remain scarce, but the synopsis, as outlined on IMDb, gives some indication of what to expect.
“He’s a low level criminal with no future and just out of prison. She’s a low level lawyer never noticed by others – a lost soul without a life. Their anger and hostility makes them serious criminals. Love happens in the strangest of places.”
Blue Iguana happens in London shortly, and has Sam Rockwell locked in for the lead role – the “low level criminal with no future.” The nature of the role now associated with Ben Schwartz is not currently known, but it is probably a safe bet that he will be playing something akin to “Best Friend No 1.”
If his friendship is with Sam Rockwell, this promises some excellent comedy, as the respective style of the two actors certainly would seem to complement each other – Rockwell with his laid back, mildly irritated delivery, and Ben Schwartz with his trademark self-assured swagger.
The big question is, who will play the “low level lawyer never noticed by others?” This is the key role at this point, as the actress concerned will need to go toe-to-toe with the comedic skill of both Rockwell and Schwartz. My first choice would be Kathryn Hahn – simply because she would be able to play anger and hostility opposite Sam Rockwell with hilarious conviction. Alternatively, I think it’s about time Charlyne Yi got a shot at a lead role. Her measured delivery and deadpan comedy style would serve this role, and this cast, well. Whichever actress lands the part, we should hear the announcement soon, as cameras are set to roll on Blue Iguana in July.

Chicago – It’s been a while since I walked out of a screening so affected and feeling that I just experienced a truly honest, important film.
Sure, other ones have since, but back in 2007, “Once” especially made me feel that way long before the Oscars. I never would have expected it here and nor will you from this film you’ve probably heard little or nothing about, but a little engine that could called “Cake” has done that to me again. And you’d never guess who primarily made it possible: Jennifer Aniston in a visually unflattering, dramatic role.
Rating: 4.0/5.0
While “Cake” as a film is receiving mixed reception, Aniston is being recognized for the career-growing range it’s proving for her beyond the “Friends” comedic stigma she’s trying to grow beyond. Though she tried with the dramatic romance “Love Happens” in 2009, it bombed. “Horrible Bosses” in 2011 and “Horrible Bosses 2...

20. Love/Chloe in the Afternoon (1972)
Directed by: Éric Rohmer
Originally titled “Love in the Afternoon,” but released in North America as “Chloe in the Afternoon,” this Rohmer film is a tale of possible infidelity, seen through the eyes of a conflicted man. Frédéric (Bernard Verley) is a successful young lawyer who is happily married to a teacher named Hélène (Françoise Verley), who is pregnant with their second child. While Frédéric is in a considerably good place in his life, he still struggles with the loss of excitement he had before he married, when he could sleep with whomever he chose. It wasn’t so much the sex that thrilled him, but the chase itself. Still, he feels that these thoughts and fantasies, paired with his refusal to act upon them, only proves that he is completely dedicated and in love with his own wife. That is, until he meets Chloé...

I haven't been the biggest fan of Jennifer Aniston's movie career. The trailers to The Bounty Hunter and Love Happens inspired what I like to call "The Aniston Theory." But recently We're The Millers started to break the actress's streak of misery, and the trailer for her latest film, Life Of Crime, seems to continue the trend upward. Thanks to Yahoo, we have our first look at the 1970's period comedy, which co-stars Tim Robbins, Yasiin Bey (formerly Mos Def), Isla Fisher, and John Hawkes. The film is based off of the Elmore Leonard novel The Switch, and involves a housewife whose husband isn't too worried when she's kidnapped by two thugs demanding a ransom. In true Leonard fashion, more people start to get involved in the proceedings, and things start to get a little crazier with each new contestant. While I'm not a huge Jennifer Aniston fan, I'm...

Looking to skip the lines at the movie theater and celebrate Valentine's Day with a good movie at home instead? No one says you have to watch some tired romcom or a dramatic Nicholas Sparks movie just to stay on theme. Over the years, cinema has given us some truly wonderful love stories, packaged in great movies that might not traditionally be billed as a romances. Love happens in some unlikely places in film, like while being hunted by a futuristic cyborg, or during a murder trial, for example. We came up with a few of our favorite love stories in non-romance movies, for those looking for something a bit outside the box this Valentine's Day, and we've offered an argument for each as to why these romantic pairings resonated with us. The Terminator - Sarah Connor and Kyle Reese On the surface, The Terminator is a movie about a...

Looking back over the year at what films moved and impressed us, it is clear that watching old films is a crucial part of making new films meaningful. Thus, the annual tradition of our end of year poll, which calls upon our writers to pick both a new and an old film: they were challenged to choose a new film they saw in 2013—in theaters or at a festival—and creatively pair it with an old film they also saw in 2013 to create a unique double feature.
All the contributors were given the option to write some text explaining their 2013 fantasy double feature. What's more, each writer was given the option to list more pairings, with or without explanation, as further imaginative film programming we'd be lucky to catch in that perfect world we know doesn't exist but can keep dreaming of every time we go to the movies.

Yes, you read that right. The uplifting self-help series Chicken Soup For The Soul is getting a big screen adaptation, courtesy of Alcon Entertainment (the same people behind The Blind Side). The company also has plans for a TV series, though that seems further in the future.
Chicken Soup For The Soul takes the form of uplifting stories for those in need of some solace, some motivation or just some good feels. The original bestseller was published back 1993 and shot to the top of the New York Times bestseller list. Now books continue to roll out, many of them dedicated to particular demographics (Chicken Soup For The Teenage Soul, Chicken Soup For The Preteen Soul, Chicken Soup For The Grandparent’s Soul, etc.) The series remains wildly popular, so really it’s surprising that there hasn’t been a big screen adaptation until now.

A Chicken Soup For The Soul movie is in the works.
Alcon Entertainment recently acquired the feature rights to the inspirational book series, a collection of short motivational stories and essays.
Chicken Soup For The Soul will be produced by Jordan Kerner (The Smurfs) of the Kerner Entertainment Company, Alcon announced in a press release.
Alcon co-founders Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove are also slated to produce.
Johnson and Kosove referred to the book series as "synonymous with inspiration and life improvement and has touched hundreds of millions of readers through the power of storytelling".
"The Chicken Soup for the Soul series lends itself perfectly to a fictional narrative that will inspire, entertain and intrigue," they added.
Brandon Camp (Love Happens) has been tapped to write the screenplay.
Chicken Soup for the Soul comes from original creators Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen in 1993.

You can blame New Line for this. Back in 2009 the studio wrestled the self-help book He's Just Not That Into You into a relationship drama. That non-fiction, non-narrative-tome-into-fictional-story trajectory subsequently gave us Alcon's What To Expect When You're Expecting (from the pregnancy manual), and that same company now has big plans for the touchy-feely Chicken Soup For The Soul franchise. Brandon Camp (Love Happens) is the lucky recipient of the screenplay gig.The original Chicken Soup For The Soul first graced bookshelves in 1993, and was so named for its alleged warming and nourishing qualities. Some great Lovecraftian horror has emerged from the blackest depths of the deepest oceans, and slowly it makes its way towards our shores. With a ponderous and slow gait it urges forward, little by little, until all life and civilization is extinguished by fear and despair beyond human comprehension. Its name: Chicken Soup for the Soul: The Movie. It probably won’t be a death knell for humankind (although you never know), but Alcon Entertainment has indeed secured the rights for both a Chicken Soup for the Soul movie and TV show. For now, the only concrete plans involve the film. Deadline Hollywood reports that Brandon Camp, writer of Love Happens, will be handling the screenplay duties, while Jordan Kerner of the Kerner Entertainment Company will be producing alongside Alcon.
