A well made film depicting the friendship between two queens of country. The tone felt sincere and yet respectful. Both actresses played their roles well and they had good chemistry. A heartfelt tribute and well told story.
This is a heartwarming and endearing film brought to life by the realistic performances by all four (4) leading actresses and actors. The husbands who play the spouses of the two female country stars may have minor roles but their performances as hard drinking, skirt chasing and abusive husbands are reflective of the 1960's marital woes.
The two leading ladies Megan Hilty who plays Patsy Cline and Jessie Mueller who plays Loretta Lynn form a close knit friendship that was cut prematurely short. I for one never knew much about these two performers lives but I got to know and understand these two womens' trial and tribulations through their fine performances as mothers, wives and country songbirds. Kudos to the performances by actresses Megan Hilty and Jessie Mueller who made this film a special tribute to Patsy Cline and Loretta Lynn's friendship and loving relationship.
It is an excellent biographical presentation that I hope will be remade some day into a ten (10) part mini-series with the same strong cast re-appearing. This made for TV Lifetime film is certainly way above par for a Lifetime film and deserving of special attention.
I rate the film a heart warming 9 out of 10 IMDb rating.

Both actresses have great chemistry together and do a fine job as country legends Patsy Cline and Loretta Lynn, but Megan Hilty is truly outstanding as Cline. She fully embodies the character with great humor, warmth and vulnerability.
The film's focus on how the women's friendship developed is refreshing, as opposed to the typical biopic storyline of "then this happened, and then I got famous, and then this happened..."
It's also nice to have two wonderful singers playing famous singers, as opposed to actors lip syncing the legendary songs.

2 broadway stars in a musical biopic of 2 country stars. What's not to like. Unlike previous movies about the 2 Singers they don't have to be dubbed. Megan Hilty looks like Patsy Cline and she sings Crazy wonderfully. Jessie Mueller plays Loretta Lynn. But its hard to understand their accents sometimes cause they aren't from the South. The story isn't a full biopic of the ladies but concerns their friendship.
Worth a watch.

I thought this movie was very well made. Both actresses were wonderful in their parts. Such a beautiful albeit sad story. Loved how both their daughters collaborated on this endeavor, I'm sure their mothers are proud.
