Exclusive: Two of Brazil’s key production houses are teaming for true crime.

Diosual Entertainment and Medialand Production have struck a strategic partnership to co-produce multiple true crime doc series. The pact will include feature films, and series aimed at pay-tv providers, free-to-air channels and pay-tv.

A second element to the deal will see Diosual’s sales arm, Diosual Distribution, shopping Medialand’s content on the national and international markets.

The true crime market is booming in Brazil, with titles such as Brazil: Elize Matsunaga, Killer Ratings and A Life Too Short: The Isabella Nardoni Case cutting through. Internationally, the genre continues to dominate schedules and play a key role for global streamers.

Exclusive: Raw Television, the All3Media-backed producer of Don’t F**k With Cats: Hunting An Internet Killer, has bagged another Netflix commission – a series looking at global sporting scandals.

Deadline understands that the company is making Bad Sport (w/t), which will look at a variety of scandalous sporting incidents around the world.

It comes after the company, which produced breakout doc feature Three Identical Strangers, launched its latest Netflix series Fear City: New York vs The Mafia on the streaming service earlier this month.

Three Identical Strangers director Tim Wardle, who joined the company in 2012 as Head of Development, is one of the exec producers of Bad Sport, alongside Alex Marengo, who exec produced Netflix series Killer Ratings, and Raw’s U.S. creative director Adam Hawkins.

Directors on the series include Luke Sewell, who directed BBC series Generation Gifted, and Alex Kiehl, who developed and directed Channel 4’s Sas: Who Dares Wins.

There are no plans to replace him at present, according to the streaming giant.

Netflix has confirmed French media reports that Diego Bunuel has stepped down as its director of original documentaries.

“I can confirm Diego has left and there are currently no plans to replace him,” a spokesperson in London said.

Bunuel’s departure comes 18-months after he joined the streaming platform from French pay-tv giant Canal Plus in April 2018.

Showtime has picked up a British feature doc about World In Motion rockers New Orders. The CBS-owned premium network has acquired New Order: Decades from White Light Distribution.

The two-hour doc, which is produced by All3Media-owned Caravan, producer of Netflix doc series Killer Ratings. It originally aired on Comcast-owned network Sky Arts.

New Order: Decades, produced and directed by Mike Christie (Hansa Studios: By The Wall 1976-90), marks 40 years since the band’s first TV appearance. Part concert and part documentary, it follows the band’s preparations as they re-stage their acclaimed collaboration So It Goes with the artist Liam Gillick and the 12-piece synthesiser orchestra that captured the headlines during Manchester International Festival 2017. It features full access to the band and their collaborators including Gillick and art director Peter Saville.
