Paramount+ has revealed the new trailer for the Landman series, starring Oscar-winner Billy Bob Thornton. The drama will premiere on Sunday, November 17, exclusively on Paramount+ in the U.S. and international markets where the service is available.
The series will launch with two episodes, and subsequent episodes of the 10-episode first season will be available every Sunday.
Co-created by Oscar nominee Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace, Landman is produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, 101 Studios, and Sheridan’s Bosque Ranch Productions exclusively for Paramount+.
Set in the proverbial boomtowns of West Texas, Landman is a modern-day tale of fortune-seeking in the world of oil rigs. Based on the notable 11-part podcast Boomtown from Imperative Entertainment and Texas Monthly, the series is an upstairs/downstairs story of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires fueling a boom so big that it’s reshaping our climate, our economy, and our geopolitics.

Welcome to the world of oil. Those are the ominous words that end the first trailer for “Landman,” Taylor Sheridan’s new drama series starring Billy Bob Thornton, Jon Hamm and Demi Moore. The show will premiere its first two episodes on Paramount+ Nov. 17.
“The oil and gas industry makes $3 billion a day in pure profit. And it’s only getting bigger,” Thornton’s Tommy Norris says in the opening of the trailer. He then outlines that to make that money, you need to do two things: secure the land and manage the people.
“First part’s pretty simple. It’s the second part that can get you killed,” Tommy says.
After he drops that bomb, disaster strikes. Dynamic shots of men in suits boarding private planes and Tommy in his cowboy hat are replaced by a scene of workers on an oil rig. The trailer then cuts to blast as the sound drops out.

If there’s one thing that’s working at Paramount, it’s Taylor Sheridan. That’s probably why the “Yellowstone” creator’s latest drama, “Landman,” is set to premiere on Nov. 17, exclusively on Paramount+.

Hallmark and Lifetime may be the longtime players in the TV holiday movie game, but relative newbie Netflix has a festive boast to make about its own Christmas content: “Around half” of Netflix subscribers “watched at least one” of the streaming service’s original holiday films during the 2019 holiday season and Netflix’s holiday titles are streamed in all 190 countries where the platform is available, a spokesperson for the streaming service tells TheWrap.
For context, Netflix said it had reached 167 million subscribers globally at the end of 2019, so this stat would apply to almost 50% of those accounts. Reminder: Netflix counts a “view” as when someone watches a selected title for at least two minutes.
Netflix doesn’t have nearly as many original holiday movies under its belt as Hallmark or Lifetime but its library is growing each year, and it’s already known for a few “franchises,” like its beloved “A Christmas Prince” trilogy.

Exclusive: Netflix has opted not to order second seasons of multi-camera family sitcoms Ashley Garcia: Genius in Love and The Big Show Show.
Fans will get one more original episode of each shows as the streamer had commissioned special Christmas episodes of both comedies to be released this December.
These are not series finales. The special stand-alone Christmas episodes were filmed before the pandemic and do not continue the storylines from the previous seasons.
The produced episodes of Ashley Garcia and The Big Show Show will continue to be available on Netflix. Multi-camera comedy is probably the genre most dependable on cast chemistry. That is something that can be tested in a pilot, something that does not fit into Netflix’s model, which is built on straight-to-series orders.

At 17, Paulina Chávez is eloquent and wise beyond her years. The star of new Netflix sitcom “The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia” has been tasked with playing a teenage genius who becomes the youngest person to ever earn a Ph.D and lands a dream Stem job at Nasa.
The show, co-created by Mario Lopez with several episodes directed by Eva Longoria, aims to defy stereotypes. And in a recent interview, Chévez proved to be passionate about using the show as a platform to highlight positive roles and opportunities for young women and Latinas both on screen and in Stem.
