27 Dresses star Katherine Heigl's other rom-coms like The Ugly Truth (2009) and Life as We Know It (2010) follow similar lead character dynamics. After 27 Dresses, Heigl went on to star in more wedding-centered rom-coms like The Big Wedding (2013) and Jenny's Wedding (2015). Rom-coms like My Best Friend's Wedding and Made of Honor share the same trope as 27 Dresses, in which the lead character pines after the bride or groom of a wedding in which they are the maid of honor.
There are plenty of great rom-coms like 2008's 27 Dresses starring Katherine Heigl and James Marsden. Directed by Anne Fletcher, 27 Dresses follows Jane (Heigl), the walking cliché of "always a bridesmaid, never a bride," having been the former 27 times. After her carefree younger sister Tess (Malin Åkerman) suddenly becomes engaged to the man she's secretly in love with (who's also her boss), Jane struggles emotionally with her wedding planning...

Curb Your Enthusiasm returns to Max this month in what’s being called the show’s final season (for now). If you’re not ready for the Larry David-centric comedy series to end, you can binge all eleven of the show’s previous seasons on Max right now before hitting the new episodes.
Tokyo Vice will also be back in February for season 2. Stars Ansel Elgort, Ken Watanabe, Rinko Kikuchi, Rachel Keller, Show Kasamatsu, and Ayumi Ito are joined by Kubozuka and Miki Maya this time around, as Jake Adelstein feels the danger closing in on him. Max also welcomes you to the premiere of the highly acclaimed (and highly depraved) Dicks: The Musical this month, as a couple of self-obsessed businessmen discover they’re identical twins and decided to bring their divorced parents back together.

The Proposal has landed a spot in Netflix's top 10 list, with 8.8 million hours viewed and 4.9 million total views. The romantic comedy movie, which stars Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds, is beaten by The Equalizer 3, Transporter 2, and Lift. The Proposal was a big box office success upon its release in 2009, but the rom-com genre is now mostly relegated to streaming-only releases.
The Proposal, a 2009 romantic comedy starring Sandra Bullock, has earned itself a spot in the Netflix top 10 list. Directed by Anne Fletcher, The Proposal features Bullock as Margaret Tate, a businesswoman who attempts to marry her assistant, a role played memorably by Ryan Reynolds, to avoid being deported back to Canada. The film earned mixed reviews from critics, but was a box office success.

While the romantic comedy genre is known for its lovable protagonists and heartwarming tales of love, it also has its fair share of characters who make audiences cringe, groan, and question the very notion of love itself. It is a wonder that some of these characters got anyone to fall in love with them.
From the insufferable narcissists to the clueless and self-absorbed, these characters have managed to secure a special place in viewers' hearts – a place that's filled with irritation, frustration, and the occasional desire to scream at the screen. While some characters are just unlikeable, others deserve jail time for their crimes against their romantic counterparts.

Romantic comedy fans love movies that can blend a heartwarming story about life with enough humor to keep the tone light. Though some viewers are content with some cliché themes and concepts in these rom-coms, critics are often harsh on movies that don't exceed expectations.
Rom-coms such as The Proposal and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days are some of the most iconic films in the genre, though they've received harsh criticism. While critics are looking for movies that offer a fresh and exciting addition to the rom-com genre, not all films need to be profound. The rom-coms that critics hated and audiences loved are the ones that perfectly fit into the genre, offering some common tropes within a cute and humorous storyline.

I’m a feminist because of Katherine Heigl. Wait, let me clarify. I’m a proud feminist because of women, like Katherine Heigl, who have fought tooth and nail for a seat at the table set by and for men. (Growing up the only daughter of a single mother also helped.)
Heigl has been in showbiz for decades, making her film debut at 14 years old as Kathryn, a dreamy, naive pre-teen in 1992 romance drama That Night. Channing Tatum and Greg Berlanti are coming on board to respectively star and direct Project Artemis, Apple Studios’ big-budget play that already has Scarlett Johansson starring.
Tatum is in negotiations while Berlanti has closed his deal in a moves that shore up the high-flying project that had been brought back to Earth by two big departures.
Jason Bateman was to direct the feature but left in early June due to creative differences. In terms of new Netflix original films, June 17 sees the debut of “Spiderhead,” a psychological thriller starring Chris Hemsworth, Miles Teller and Jurnee Smollett and directed by “Top Gun: Maverick” filmmaker Joseph Kosinski.

Josh Duhamel is in talks to star opposite Jennifer Lopez in the Lionsgate romantic adventure “Shotgun Wedding,” replacing Armie Hammer in the lead role.
Hammer dropped out of the project last Wednesday, with a representative for the production explaining, “Given the imminent start date, Armie has requested to step away from the film and we support him in his decision.”
Duhamel would star as Tom, opposite Lopez’s Darcy, in the film about a couple who gathers their families together for a destination wedding. Things start to go south, however, after the pair gets cold feet. But it really takes a turn for the worst when the entire wedding party is taken hostage.
The Lionsgate project was first announced last fall. Jason Moore will direct from a screenplay by Mark Hammer and Liz Meriwether. The film will be produced by Mandeville’s Todd Lieberman and David Hoberman, who previously produced “Wonder” for the studio,...

HBO Max is serving up a lot of great new movies this October. Fittingly for the spooky season, the Warner Bros. streaming service is adding a fair few classic horrors to its library next month, but there’s really something for everyone going up – from comedies to romances to sci-fi to superhero films.
Speaking of that last genre, DC lovers will be pleased to note that 2013’s Man of Steel, the movie that kicked off the Dceu, is among the titles arriving on October 1st. Besides that, there’s a bunch of animated DC pics dropping the same day, including Superman/Batman: Public Enemies and All-Star Superman. 2005’s Constantine featuring Keanu Reeves, meanwhile, also debuts on the service from the 1st.

It’s the way it always is with Netflix. You get a load of new content every month, but you also lose a bunch of old favorites, too, as the rights agreements expire and they hop over to some other streaming service. September will be no different, as we’ve now got a list of everything that’s set to be removed from Netflix on the first day of the month after next.
There are a number of notable titles among them, too. First of all, the first two Bad Boys movies are leaving the site on September 1st, so make sure to give them another watch sometime in the next few weeks. Unfortunately, Netflix is losing a couple of classic horrors as well. Namely, 1988’s Child’s Play and the original Candyman, ahead of the Jordan Peele-produced remake that’s on the way.

Earlier today, we got our hands on the full list of every new movie and TV show being added to Netflix next month. It’s an impressive offering, too, featuring originals like Project Power and the fifth season of Lucifer. But as is often the case, just as every new month brings us fresh additions, it also results in a lot of great titles leaving the service.
August is no different and along with revealing everything that’s being added, Netflix has also announced what we’ll be saying goodbye to in the coming weeks. Some of these just arrived on the platform quite recently, too, which makes their exit especially unfortunate. But unless it’s original content, not a whole lot lasts forever on Netflix and so, we’ll always have to come to terms with the fact that popular shows and movies could be removed at any time.

As the coronavirus pandemic continues to spread and large public events are being canceled out of caution, many people are staying inside to avoid the possibility of catching Covid-19. And while those people are trying to *stay away* from the outbreak, those who are Netflix subscribers are interested in *watching* an outbreak.
As of Saturday, the 1995 medical-disaster film “Outbreak” is the ninth most-popular overall title on Netflix in the U.S., according to the streaming service’s daily Top 10 list. The flick, based on Richard Preston’s nonfiction book “The Hot Zone,” comes in at No. 5 on the platform’s rankings of today’s Top 10 movies.

Today is March 1st, which means we have a whole new set of titles to tell you about that just dropped on Netflix. The streaming service has 54 new movies/TV shows from nearly every major studio, including Warner Bros., Paramount and Sony, and while that number is still ten less than what we got last March, there’s far more original content on the service than there was a year ago. So, trust me when I say you’ve got plenty of options.
So many options, in fact, that I often find myself browsing for so long that I can’t decide on what to watch until it gets too late and I go to bed instead. First world problems, right?
In any case, below you’ll find the full list as well as a few descriptions of some personal favorites. Or some that I just felt like commenting on.

Warner Bros. is continuing to put together its Little Shop of Horrors remake as we've learned that Chris Evans (Avengers: Endgame) is being eyed to star. The project, which has been in development for several years, hails from Arrow creator and TV mega-producer Greg Berlanti. Should Evans sign on the dotted line, it will reunite him with his Marvel co-star Scarlett Johannson, who is also circling the project in a key role.
According to a new report, Chris Evans is in negotiations to take on the role of Orin Scrivello in Little Shop of Horrors. The role was previously played by Steve Martin in the 1986 movie, which was directed by Frank Oz and was adapted from the popular Broadway musical of the same name. With February 29th fast approaching – this is a Leap Year, remember – Netflix is preparing to roll out a fresh helping of new content for March 2020.
It’s a familiar combination of original series, time-honored classics and beloved franchise films, with next month set to herald the arrival of Resident Evil: Apocalypse and its undead sequel, Extinction. Sure, it’s a far cry from the quality and craft of The Lord of the Rings – speaking of which, both the Twin Towers and The Return of the King will be departing Netflix in four weeks’ time – but the saga of Alice still carved out an audience to call its own.
Also peppered throughout Netflix’s March 2020 catalog are some big-name horror titles and edge-of-your-seat thrillers, including Signs and the third season of Ozark. And then there’s the third season of Castlevania, which, it’s fair to say, has been a long time coming.

Here's what's new on Netflix in March 2020! We've got a complete list of what's leaving, too.
Normally the big story for each month of Netflix new releases are the exciting batch of Netflix original series and movies arriving. For Netflix's new releases for March 2020, things are a little bit different. Yes, there are some cool originals here but...look at those movies!
March 1 sees the arrival of Corpse Bride, The Shawshank Redemption, There Will Be Blood, and Goodfellas! Martin Scorsese likely can't unilaterally decide when and where his movies stream, but it is a happy coincidence that Goodfellas will now exist alongside The Irishman.
As for those Netflix originals...Ozark is the biggest returning hit in March. The story of a very corrupt family airs its third season on March 27. Also of note are Castlevania season 3 (March 5), Altered Carbon: Resleeved (March 19). But really after Goodfellas, nothing else was really necessary.

The good news is we’re gaining some beloved mid-2000s films, like “He’s Just Not That Into You,” “Valentine’s Day” and “Silver Linings Playbook,” “Corpse Bride” and “Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events,” plus some ’90s favorites like “Space Jam” and “GoodFellas.”
The bad news is that throughout the month we’re losing “Black Panther,” “Eat Pray Love,” “The Waterboy,” “P.S. I Love You,” “Batman Begins,” both “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King” and “The Two Towers,” and “Kill Bill” Volumes 1 and 2.

20th Century Fox has released the first trailer for Love, Simon, based on the hit 2016 novel Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli. This critically-acclaimed tale explores how one young man will go to great lengths to find his own love story, even if it means he has to come out as gay to his family and friends. While recent teen love stories like Everything, Everything failed to make a dent at the box office, it's possible this could be the genre's next big hit, along the same lines as The Fault in Our Stars.
Everyone deserves a great love story. But for seventeen-year old Simon Spier it's a little more complicated: he's yet to tell his family or friends he's gay and he doesn't actually know the identity of the anonymous classmate he's fallen for online. Resolving both issues proves hilarious, terrifying and life-changing. Directed by Greg Berlanti (Riverdale,...
