Showtime has announced that Krysten Ritter and Neil Patrick Harris (Uncoupled) will join the cast of the Showtime original series Dexter: Resurrection. Ritter will guest star in the role of “Mia” and Harris in the role of “Lowell.”

Production for Dexter: Resurrection kicked off in January 2025 in New York and the series is set to launch in summer of 2025 on Paramount+ with Showtime. The new original drama series stars SAG and Golden Globe winner Michael C. Hall in the titular role of Dexter Morgan.

It's looking increasingly like the upcoming Dexter: New Blood sequel series Dexter: Resurrection is going to be incredible television. According to the latest Deadline exclusive, the latest star to join the cast is none other than Jessica Jones herself, Krysten Ritter. And not just that, but Ritter has been chosen to play a female serial killer in a guest role arc.

Deadline shares that the actress is playing a character named Mia Lapierre, described as "a renowned sommelier who may be hiding a serial killer secret."

Happy Face is inspired by the true-life story of Melissa Moore; the Happy Face podcast from iHeartPodcasts and Moore; and the autobiography Shattered Silence, written by Moore with M. Bridget Cook.

The Exorcist: Believer (our review can be read at This Link), the latest entry in the Exorcist franchise, didn’t go over well with critics or the general audience… which pretty much makes it a typical Exorcist movie, because none of these movies – other than the original The Exorcist and Exorcist III – are very popular, even among the horror crowd. It has managed to pull it more than $107 million at the global box office since being released earlier this month – and now it has been announced that it’s going to be reaching PVOD tomorrow, October 24th!

There’s a new Exorcist movie in theatres now, The Exorcist: Believer (read our review Here), and for the first time in the franchise Ellen Burstyn reprises the role of Chris MacNeil, the character she played in the 1973 classic The Exorcist. Her presence has been a major selling point in the marketing of this movie – but there’s another returning cast member who makes a brief appearance in the film. We heard months ago that Linda Blair (who was also in Exorcist II: The Heretic) would be showing up in The Exorcist: Believer, and during an interview with People magazine director David Gordon Green talked about reuniting Burstyn and Blair for “a beautiful moment”.

Green told People, “It was just a really special moment to be a part of that reunion, to be a part of that legacy, the connection that’s so monumental that the two of those performers have.

Close on the heels of the internet release of the trailer for The Exorcist: Believer, which is set to reach theatres on October 13th, Universal Pictures has gone ahead announced (via The Hollywood Reporter) that they’ll be giving the next Exorcist sequel, which will be titled The Exorcist: Deceiver, an Easter 2025 theatrical release. The specific release date they’ve chosen is April 18, 2025. So if you really like Believer, you’ll only have to wait eighteen months to see the next chapter in this planned trilogy.

Blumhouse Productions founder Jason Blum is currently doing the press rounds for Insidious: The Red Door, the fifth entry in the company’s supernatural horror franchise, which is set to reach theatres on July 7th – and during an interview with CinePOP, a couple other upcoming Blumhouse projects were mentioned. Blum had positive things to say about one of those projects, The Exorcist: Believer, but wasn’t so positive about a crossover between the Insidious and Sinister franchises, which is something he has discussed in the past.

First, Blum confirmed that The Exorcist: Believer is sticking with its October 13th release date. He told CinePOP the movie is “good and its really scary.”

Announced last night during CinemaCon, David Gordon Green‘s upcoming relaunch of The Exorcist has been officially titled The Exorcist: Believer, and it’s a sequel to the original classic. CinemaCon attendees were also shown the very first trailer for the movie last night, and while it’s not available online, THR has shared a description of the footage.

Most notably, the first-look footage at CinemaCon spotlighted the return of original The Exorcist star Ellen Burstyn, who will be reprising her 1973 role as Chris MacNeil!

The Hollywood Reporter recaps, “The Exorcist: Believer kicks off after the Devil take over the bodies of two children. In the trailer, a father drops off his daughter at school, however she and a friend go missing after school. When they are found in the woods, they seem changed and unaware that they were gone three days, believing it’d been just a few hours.

David Gordon Green‘s The Exorcist is set to be a legacy follow-up to the original classic, and Above the Line reports this week that Linda Blair is involved in some capacity.

Jeff Sneider reports, “Linda Blair will reprise her role as Regan MacNeil, Above the Line has exclusively learned. Sources say that Blair was only on set for a few days, so she’s not in the film all that much, but her return to the franchise should make fans’ heads spin with excitement.”

It’s worth noting that a Blumhouse spokesperson only confirmed to Sneider that Blair “served as an advisor” on the new movie, refusing to confirm or deny an on-screen appearance.

If she is indeed in the film as Sneider reports on Above the Line, it would mark Linda Blair’s first appearance in The Exorcist franchise since the original sequel back in 1977.

Back in December, director David Gordon Green’s sequel to the 1973 classic The Exorcist (watch it Here), which is scheduled to reach theatres on October 13th, had to put filming on hold and begin its holiday break early because lead actor Leslie Odom Jr. (Hamilton) was stricken with an illness. But filming was able to resume after the holidays – and now Deadline has reported that production has officially wrapped.

Deadline’s report also reveals that producer Stephanie Allain has joined the project as an executive producer. Coming to us from Blumhouse Productions and Morgan Creek Entertainment, the film is being produced by Jason Blum, David Robinson, and James Robinson. Green, Danny McBride, and Couper Samuelson serve as executive producers with Allain. Ryan Turek is overseeing the project for Blumhouse.
