Somewhere, at this very moment, someone's dad is probably watching one of the Jesse Stone movies on DVD, and that man is having a great afternoon. After this, he might pop in "Ford v. Ferrari" for the seventh time.
The character of Jesse Stone began his life in a series of airport novels written by the late Robert B. Parker. The first Jesse Stone novel, "Night Passage," was published in 1997 and it followed the titular former LAPD detective (and divorced recovering alcoholic) as he investigated money laundering and murder in Paradise, Massachusetts. Parker had a hit on his hands with "Night Passage," and proceeded to writer eight additional Jesse Stone novels from 1998 up until his death in 2010. Jesse Stone had become an institution at that point, and other authors began writing Stone novels in Parker's style. There have been 11 additional Jesse Stone novels written after Parker's death.

Zorro and Expats are the big shows coming to Prime Video in January. The former is what Amazon are calling a “bold reinterpretation” of the classic hero El Zorro for 2024. Starring Miguel Bernardeau as Diego de la Vega and Renata Notni as Lolita Marquez, it’s definitely an intriguing-sounding action-adventure series, with a ten-episode first season based on the iconic character originally created by Johnston McCulley all the way back in 1919.
Meanwhile, upcoming drama series Expats is based on the bestselling 2016 novel The Expatriates by Janice Y. K. Lee, and follows “the vibrant lives of a close-knit expatriate community” in Hong Kong. Nicole Kidman has been known for picking the right kind of shows to lead in the past, so let’s hope this is another banger for the actress, who is also on board as an executive producer here.

There’s a lot to watch on Prime Video in October and, as you may have guessed, there’s spooky stuff galore in amongst Prime’s usual rotation of extensive library content.
In the movie Totally Killer, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina star Kiernan Shipka travels back in time to the 1980s to stop a serial killer. Then there’s Make Me Scream, a Halloween special that challenges celebrities to “a gruesome game of terror.” Renfield will also be streaming on the service for anyone who’s been dying (muahahaha!) to catch the Nic Cage Dracula film.
Outside of Prime Video’s more creepy fare, Shazam! Fury Of The Gods will debut, Upload will be back for a third season, and new film Awareness should scratch your sci-fi itch. Meanwhile, for Frasier heads – those who consider themselves utterly Frasier-pilled – all eleven seasons of the Cheers spinoff show will be streaming at the touch of a button.

As befitting its status as one of the world’s biggest companies, every now and then Amazon likes to take a big swing with its Prime Video originals. With its list of new releases for April 2023, the streamer is taking one of its biggest swings yet.
Though it’s not quite as vast or expensive as fellow Prime Video series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, Citadel (premiering April 28) is a massive, massive undertaking. Starring Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas, this spy series is described as “an expansive and groundbreaking global event comprising a mothership series and several local language satellite series.” This means that the Russo Brothers-produced project will eventually feature several spinoffs in multiple countries and languages around the world. Neat-o!

Prime Video is hoping to launch its own extended franchise universe in April with the premiere of international spy series “Citadel” from the minds of the Russo Brothers. The show stars Richard Madden, Priyanka Chopra, and Stanley Tucci, and is intended to be the first block of an interconnected story with different spinoffs in countries and regions around the world. The first version will begin streaming on April 28. In the show, the world is in the grips of Manticore, a criminal organization, and several former spies are recruited to restore order despite having their memories erased.

Get ready to hail to the chief on NBC’s whimsical series, Revolution. Even in post-apocalyptic times, the free world needs a President. Actually, I dare say, especially in post-apocalyptic times leadership is crucial. Seemingly aptly named, actress Leslie Hope will fill those shoes when she takes on the role of the President on the action series.
Hope played Jack Bauer’s wife on the first season of 24, as EW reminded us. And now when Revolution returns to the airwaves on March 25th, her new role will follow.
Hope’s character, President Foster, is described as a gutsy, experienced head of the Georgia Federation. You see, in this future world, America has been divided into about six territories. They are the Georgia Federation, the Monroe Republic, Texas, the Plains Nation, the Wasteland, and the California Commonwealth. Bringing to mind the troubles from way back in the Civil War era, the...

Here's an oddity this awards season: A top movie honor not going to "The Hurt Locker" or "Avatar."
This bit of news comes courtesy of the American Society of Cinematographers, which gave its feature film prize to "The White Ribbon" and cinematographer Christian Berger. The black-and-white German film, directed by Michael Haneke, is an Oscar nominee for cinematography and for best foreign-language film.
"The White Ribbon" beat out "Avatar" and "The Hurt Locker," as well as "Inglourious Basterds" and "Nine," to win the feature film prize at the Asc's 24th annual awards Saturday night (Feb. 27).
In the TV series category, Eagle Egilsson won for the "Venice Kings" episode of TNT's "Dark Blue." Other nominees were "FlashForward" ("The Gift"), "Ugly Betty" ("There's No Place Like Mode"), "CSI" ("Family Affair") and "Smallville" ("Savior").

With football as the only original offering Sunday night, NBC easily dominated the broadcast competition.
The "NBC Sunday Night Football" telecast of the Dallas Cowboys 17-0 shutout of the Washington Redskins drew an 11.6 overnight rating and a 19 share, down 10% from last year's Panthers-Giants overtime game.

Hello, my pretties. Rusty's on vacation until New Year's, so buckle your chin straps because I'm steering this ride until then and I'm almost as crazy about television as I am about dessert foods. Today is Sunday and it's also a holiday weekend, so I hope none of you have big television-watching plans tonight, because there ain't shit on. I'll probably be watching Seven Brides for Seven Brothers again, which I finally (Finally!) got on DVD for Christmas and have basically been watching on repeat for the past two days straight. Try to contain your jealousy.

Tom Selleck, Catherine O'Hara and Martin Mull have joined the cast of "Five Killers," a Lionsgate action comedy that stars Ashton Kutcher and Katherine Heigl.
The project is being directed by Robert Luketic ("21"). Filming starts this month in France and Atlanta for a June 4, 2010, release.
The story follows a hitman (Kutcher) at the top of his game who falls for a computer tech (Heigl) and decides to hang up his guns. Years later, their suburban bliss is ruptured when he finds out there's a hit out on him, forcing him and his spooked wife to go on the run.
Selleck and O'Hara will play Heigl's overprotective father and adoring mother. Mull will play Holbrook, Kutcher's handler.
Bob DeRosa wrote the original screenplay, with additional work by Ted Griffin.
Scott Aversano is producing with Katalyst Films' Jason Goldberg. Mike Karz, Josie Rosen, Christopher Pratt and Chad Marting are executive producing.

Last night, Tom Selleck's TV movie, Jesse Stone: Thin Ice was the most watch program on network TV, grabbing about 15 million viewers. That's not bad at all, coming in at about half of what American Idol puts up week after week. So clearly, people still love Tom Selleck.
As a guest last week on Live with Regis and Kelly, (only it was Anderson Cooper and Kelly), and Selleck was asked about the possible Magnum, P.I. movie that has been bandied about for years. Would Selleck play Magnum, would he do a cameo, and would he have any involvement at all is the natural progression of the line of questioning.
"They haven't called, they haven't written," he said. "I keep hearing they're developing one but I don't know whether I'm going to be in it... but they keep doing (fan) polls, and I keep winning them."...

Camryn Manheim, Leslie Hope and Kathy Baker have joined the cast of the CBS telefilm Jesse Stone: Thin Ice, the fifth installment in the successful Tom Selleck movie franchise from Sony Pictures Television.
