The prescriptions are out. Morris Chestnutwill be solving more medical mysteries, as CBS has officially ordered a second season for its newest medical drama, Watson. Though the show debuted to mixed reviews, the decision comes after the premiere episode became the network’s most-watched scripted episode of 2024-25, per Deadline’s report. And while the first-ever season has garnered disappointing Rotten Tomatoes critics and audience scores, a new season order will enable the series to flesh its story out further.

According to Nielsen (via Deadline), Watson has been averaging a total of 6.79 million viewers each week, which immediately warranted the series a Season 2 order. The cast of “Hard Truths,” the 23rd film from legendary British director Mike Leigh, has been unveiled, along with a first look image.

The feature, which like most Leigh projects has remained under a veil of secrecy, has reunited the filmmaker with Marianne Jean-Baptiste, who received an Oscar nomination for his 1996 drama “Secrets & Lies.” Michele Austin, another frequent Leigh collaborator, also stars.

“Hard Truths” was shot in London in 2023 and, following his historical epics “Mr. Turner” and “Peterloo,” sees Leigh return to the contemporary world. However, plot details are still scarce, the film’s only description being that it’s a “tough but compassionate intimate study of family life”.

Seven-time Oscar nominee Mike Leigh has reteamed with British actor Marianne Jean-Baptiste, who led his 1996 Oscar-nominated Secrets & Lies, on his latest feature, Hard Truths. We can share a first look at the feature above.

We first broke news of the project, which was shot in London, last May. Hard Truths is described as a movie set in the “contemporary world” with a plot said to be a “tough but compassionate intimate study of family life.”

The film also stars Michele Austin and is a Thin Man Films and The Mediapro Studio co-production, co-financed by Film4 in association with Creativity Media. Bleecker Street will release the film theatrically in the US later this year, with Studiocanal releasing in the UK and Cornerstone Films handling international sales. Rumble Through the Dark has the venerable actor as a bare-knuckle cage fighter desperately trying to repay substantial debts. He flashbacks to the loving foster mother that saved a troubled childhood while sacrificing his mind, body, and spirit. Fate connects him with a young stripper searching for clues to her past. Their bond gives two lost souls the strength to confront crisis together. The film packs a wallop at times but often meanders with a sluggish script and questionable directorial decisions.

It’s been a strange last decade of acting for Aaron Eckhart. Everyone knows the actor as Harvey Dent from Christopher Nolan‘s 2008 blockbuster “The Dark Knight. With its production having wrapped a few years ago, it's certainly been a long time coming for Rumble Through The Dark, an action flick starring Aaron Eckhart as a bare-knuckle cage fighter. Lionsgate has now unveiled the film's first trailer, accompanied by a release date slated for this fall. The film also stars Bella Thorne in the role of Annette, a tattooed carnival hustler who becomes an ally to Eckhart's Jack Boucher. Together, they embark on a final, desperate mission to repay his debtors and regain control of a cherished family estate.
