If this is comedy when should I start laughing?

I get it. Not every scene is going to make us belly laugh. And of course, it may take several episodes for an eclectic cast of characters to click on all cylinders. After watching the first episode my first clue this series was going to bomb was when that obnoxious canned laughter started. Why don't the producers can the canned laughter and replace it with a big honking sign at the bottom of the TV screen that says "PLEASE LAUGH NOW".

I give it a 4 out of 10 IMDB rating to give the young actors at least a chance to complete more than the announced four (4) episodes, but I won't hold my breath waiting for anymore episodes to appear.

Sorry but I am just being honest. This is not a laughing matter.

Yck

Terrible acting. I can't stand the goofy looking daughter. Dave Foley plays the same character he did in New Christine. Too many old people jokes. Heck..I am older than these people and know what's going on. Kinda insulting.

This isn't going to last

I tuned into this new show because I watch the programs preceding it and I like Kyra Sedgwick. With that said, I found her character over the top needy. She was annoying. And the characters of her children were not much better. The best part of the show is the very cute dog. Perhaps they should build the show around it.

Cancel please

This is terrible. Kyra Sedgwick deserves better, and the rest of the cast deserves nothing. This is just so not funny or entertaining.

Lighthearted and fun

I thought it was a cute show. I love Kyra Sedgwick so that is why I initially wanted to see it, but I will stick around for a few more episodes to see how it goes. For a pilot, I thought it was a good start and has some potential. Pilots in general are kind of awkward and a lot of them are downright terrible, but the shows turn out to be great. But I am of the mind that not everything has to be golden globe quality, they just have to make me smile and I get that not everyone are like that.

It's done

No surprise it was canceled. It was not funny. It did not grab my attention ... and the canned laughter made it worse. Kyra Sedgwick said she thought it was canceled because the network kept moving the time-slot. WELL KYRA, as much as I've liked you in other things you've done, you are wrong. It was canceled because it was a HORRIBLE TV show... it will not be missed.

Horrible Show

Canceling Single Parents was a bonehead move. Putting this alop on as a replacement double bonehead points. The son and daughter are the reason. Horrible, horrible actors. It's like they have never acted before. This has a good premise but all characters are boring. The two kids make this show the absolute worst series on TV today. Total junk.

Give it a Chance, and Rewrite

Come on people. How old is the Mom supposed to be? I'm 58 and I know how the Internet works, I was here when it was invented! I grew up with computers and used them all my working life. Why does the Mom have to sound so stupid? It's Krya Sedgewick! Give her better material and it'll be so much better.

Really ABC?

So you cancelled Single Parents for this kind of comedy? I love Sherri and Kyra who deserve so much more!

Some of it is funny .

It could be a good show. Some of it is funny. I will give it a chance. It's actually getting better.

Insulting

Yet another show that treats women over 50 like they are stupid. The grown kids treat their mom horribly. Like she's not capable of doing anything. This show will not last long.

Funny

I really enjoyed this show. I laughed several times. Kira Sedgwick is great in this, and the supporting cast was great well cast. I hope to see more of this show.

Just Bad

Brutal. Not funny. Lousy premise featuring an irritating lead. None of the characters are funny or worth caring about. Probably the worst pilot of a "sitcom" I have ever seen.

Terrible

Terrible. I've never seen a show rely so heavily on a laughing track. The laughing track is playing in the background the entire show, yet nothing funny ever happens. Not worth watching.

Not that bad

First off in response to @stn1994, there are more than 4. It's just that the rest are not scheduled yet.

It was not that bad. I thought some of it was funny. There was definitely some good heart moments for a pilot. I'll keep watching for sure. I think it has potential.

A Torture To Watch

OMG this show totally sucks! The actress that plays the daughter is unbearable to the point that she owes me an apology. The guy that plays the son is slappable (as in I'd like to slap him). I like Kira Sedgwick, but, she must be desperate to agree to be in something like this. Even the "music" as it's coming on sucks. The only good thing I can say about the episode I saw is that it's over...and this series should be too.

It's fun and light

Really enjoyed first few episodes. Moves fast, good one liners and easy to watch. Decent sitcom and I recommend giving it a go

Not funny at all !

Love Kyra but her lines are not funny, and her delivery is rather rushed and contrived , her two kids in the show are quite unlikeable and are portrayed as utterly disdainful and contemptuous of their mother , how is that funny ? The writing is unimaginative and quite bad and don't think it will last ! The best and funniest characters are the son's ditzy girlfriend and the daughter's gay roommate !

Ignore the snobby reviews

Live action sitcoms aren't fashionable I know... so it's easy to go crazy and criticise this one but it ain't too bad

The premise is a bit preposterous but it's harmless and innocent fun. The cast gel well and Kyra isn't as annoying as she can be..

Sometimes we watch a show just to Escape from the world. Not everything has to be something.

Not funny

I didn't laugh once during the first episode. Not a good sign for a comedy.

Loved it!!!!! Don't mind the Naysayers.

This show's got a lot of potential and actors ready to show and improve their repertoire. As already mentioned, fresh and entertaining! Once again, Kyra Sedgwick is showcasing her immense talent and experience!!! I sincerely hope there's a whole lot more to come :-)

Finally a normal sitcom again

Cute light hearted without being embarrassing. Very good storyline that empty nesters can totally relate to.

Another unfunny mess. CANCEL ASAP

This is just as awful as Call Me Cat. Poor Kyra Sedgewick must've been DESPERATE to take this role. Horrible characters, annoying as ever Sheri Shepperd, lame writing and terrible laugh track. This is a really lame & unfunny show.

Nails on a chalkboard

I really tried to like this show....but the characters are all irritating! The plot is weak and just unrelatable. I don't see this one lasting!
